OK, since this is a mixture of Sonic Underground and Sonic X with the fight Sonic and Knuckles has I'm adding the episodes in Sonic Underground with Knuckles in it to remind him what they are.
It's the anniversary of the day he left now four years ago and Sonic was by himself looking at his medallion and tapping his foot.

Then he sighed.
Meanwhile,
It was nighttime and Knuckles was at an alley sitting alone on a bucket in the alley. A loose newspaper blew into Knuckles' leg. He picked it up and glances at it. Seeing that it was a picture of Sonic and Eggman battling, he let it go and it blew away. He had a flashback of himself guarding the Master Emerald then him, Sonic, Manic and Sonia working together at Angel Island and away once. He was so deep in thought that he was unaware of a figure appearing behind him.
"What do you want, Eggman?" Knuckles asked and Eggman got on his knees before him.
"Please help me, Knuckles!" Eggman said grasping Knuckles' hands. "If we don't do something fast, Sonic could make us prisoners on this planet forever!" he said explaining his distress and Knuckles looked at him in shock. "If we can gather all seven of the Chaos Emeralds, there's a fighting chance that we can somehow reverse the effect that sent us to this world, and return to where we came from."
Then Knuckles saw a flashback of Sonic destroying Eggman's robots, breaking into the base, and causing Chaos Control.
"Sonic knew he could use the Chaos Emeralds to warp himself through time and space. That's the reason he attacked Chaos Control! He found out that I collected all the Chaos Emeralds to keep them out of his grasp! You know how reckless Sonic is. I was afraid of what he might do if he got hold of the Emeralds, so I set up defenses, but there was no stopping Sonic. He was determined to push his selfish search for thrills all the way this time, no matter who got hurt! Even being a prince! Finally, Sonic invaded Chaos Control, and to my horror, he finally achieved his goal! Sonic destroyed Chaos Control and sent us all here just for the fun of it!"
"Sonic... He's crazy..." he said.
'There's no way Sonic would do something like that.' he thought.
Eggman now had a handkerchief to wiped away his "tears".
"I've changed my ways and want to live in peace, but Sonic won't let me!" he said and blew his nose. "What can I do? He won't even give me a chance to fix things! I want to get us back, but when I found one of the Chaos Emeralds, you know what happened! Sonic snatched it from me, and said he's going to stay here as long as he pleases!"
"That selfish hog!"
'What? He wants to get home and finish Robotnik so he can get back with his family. Not take over the world!' part of him said.
"He said that we can't leave here until he says so! He thinks this world's a lot more fun than ours, and if we don't agree, it's our tough luck." he said getting Knuckles mad. "You'd think he'd be more concerned about his buddy."
"Sonic isn't my buddy! I'm sick and tired of Sonic turning everything into a game! Either Sonic gives us that Emerald, or I'm going to take it from him."
'What am I saying? Sonic is like a brother to me! Sonic, Manic and Sonia are your friends!' a part of him thought.
"Be careful. Sonic says he'll crush anybody who tries to get it back!"
"So then... A battle to the bitter end."
'Don't believe him and have a repeat of that day years ago! We both just want to get back home!'
Eggman grinned.
"My chronic Sonic troubles are over." he said to himself.
'A repeat of that day years ago.'
Chris and Tails were admiring the Chaos Emerald, stored inside a machine in the workshop. Chuck was sitting in his chair.
"A Chaos Emerald! Does anybody know where they come from or how they work?" Chris asked.
"Nobody knows much except that they're real powerful!" Tails said.
"I hope my analysis reveals something about its makeup." Chuck said.
"I know you're in there! You haven't let me clean your room in so long I'm issuing a dirt alert!" Ella said.
"Oh no! It's Ella! Quick Tails, hide!" Chris said.
"Huh? Wha?" Tails said and flopped onto a beanbag, pretending he was a stuffed animal, just as Ella opened the door.
Chris tried to act casual.
"I thought I'd find you up here, Christopher." she said.
"Oh... Hi there, Ella." Chris said casually.
Then Ella began to vacuum the room.
"Hmm... Keeping this room dust-free is a losing battle. Not that I'm complaining, but it's like trying to vacuum a dirt road! I-" she said and saw Tails, and brightened while Chuck and Chris became worried.
"Uh..." Chris said while Ella bent down to Tails' level.
"He's so precious! Is this your toy?" she said.
"Uh... I'm taking care of it."
"Ah... It almost looks real to me." she said and turned back to Tails, whose eyes glanced in her direction.
She looked surprised so Chris snatched Tails up.
"I... think I'll go outside and play." he said.
"Heheh, me too!" Chuck said and they left the workshop and a confused Ella.
When they got outside Chris and Chuck were running across the lawn.
"Wow, Tails, that was a close call!" Chris said.
"But we sure fooled her!" Chuck said.
"Yeah!"
Meanwhile Sonic was resting on the railing above them with his medallion around his neck right now.
He swore to wear his medallion when it's only him from time to time and every time it's the day he left before he went to bed last night.
"Can I nap in peace?" he said then Chris and Chuck bumped right into Mr. Tanaka.
"Master Chris. What, may I ask, is going on?" Tanaka asked.
"Um, we, uh, we just playing catch with a stuffed animal." Chris said and laughed to disguise his white lie. "Bye."
Then he left with Tails, leaving Chuck with Tanaka.
"I think I'll-" Chuck started but was cut off.
"Sir. While I commend your desire to stay fit, I would stick to adult sports like bowling." Tanaka said and Chuck crossed his arms.
"You can't tell me what to do. I'll play ring-around-the-rosie if I-" he started but was cut off again.
"Perhaps you should slow down. Rest is important, and I believe it's time for your nap." Tanaka said looking more stern than ever.
"I don't need a nap!"
"You can play later."
"I have work to do!"
"Come along, Mr. Thorndyke."
"Forget it!"
"Off to bed."
"Take your hands off me!"
Tanaka pushed him past a surprised Chris. They were soon out sight so Tails quit the stuffed animal act. Chris sighed in relief.
Just then Amy ran out and accidentally sent everyone sprawling onto the ground.
"Ow..." Amy said.
"Amy! You know it's dangerous to go wandering around here by yourself!" Chris said.
"I just saw a news report. It looks like they just found another Chaos Emerald!"
Chris and Tails blinked in surprise.
Later Chris, Tails, and Amy were in the living room watching the news report.
"The strange energy spikes, which seem to be coming from the Silver Valley area, have played havoc with computers and machinery across the entire region. Investigators are looking into..." a news reporter said.
"I bet it's a Chaos Emerald." Tails said.
"You know, Silver Valley isn't very far from here. Let's check it out!" Chris said and they head outside.
"Hey, Sonic! You heard the news?" Amy asked and Sonic groaned in response. "We're going to Silver Valley. Come along, and we'll have a picnic there."
"But we're going for the Emerald." Tails said.
"Nah. I've been there before." Sonic said.
"Huh? You went without me?! So you stopped there during one of your runs, huh?" Amy said.
"Yep. You guessed it."
"Fine, Sonic! Come on. We'll have more fun without him anyhow!"
Tails was a little worried because Sonic would always be like this on this day. Every year and never knew why. He now knows Sonic has a brother and sister but never knew what he was so upset about.
"How do we get there without a car? My grandpa's resting, and I can't ask Mr. Tanaka to drive." Chris said.
"If I drive, we're gonna get spotted." Tails said.
"What can we do?"
'Use the Van and cover Sonic Underground. Then hit the blue button and you're invisible.' Sonic thought seeing all the times they did that.
"Hey, I know how we'll get there!" Tails said.
Soon, Chris, Tails, and Amy were on a train headed for Silver Valley. Tails and Amy were acting as stuffed animals, and Chris felt exasperated as several people stared at them.
"Those stuffed animals are really cute!" someone said.
"Isn't he a little old for those toys?" someone else said.
"Uh, they're all staring..." Chris whispered.
"It's okay, Chris. We're almost at our stop." Tails said.
"Don't talk; they'll hear."
"Hey Chris, I need to blink. What do I do?" Amy said.
Then a little girl grabbed her ear and turned to her sleeping mother.
"Hey Mom, could I get one of these? Wake up, Mommy! Lookit! Oh please, can I have one please, Mommy, please? You said I could have a toy if I was good! I want it-" a little girl said.
Then Amy kicked the girl into the far wall waking her mother, in shock. Then the girl then burst into tears.
"Huh. Now if only I could blink, everything would be perfect." Amy said to herself.
Back on the balcony Sonic was still relaxing with his hand on his medallion. Suddenly Eggman's messenger Bokkun, landed on the railing and took out a television from the pack he was carrying.
"Message for you." Bokkun said and balanced the TV on Sonic's foot, then activate it. "Here you go!"
Then the television showed an image of an angry Knuckles.
'What is he doing?' Sonic wondered.
"Sonic, I'm sick of all your selfish stunts. This time, you've gone too far! I'm challenging you to a showdown! Meet me in Silver Valley in one hour. Don't be late." Knuckles said on TV.
Sonic sat there in shock.
'Oh no.' he thought.
"This message was brought to you by the Eggman Empire, which is not responsible for its content, except this part!" Eggman said on TV.
Then the TV exploded, coating Sonic in ash and Bokkun flew away laughing.
"Knuckles is gonna regret that!" Sonic said remembering what happened last time he did this.
Then he shut his eyes and sighed.
'If I have to, I'll use the prince in me and wear this medallion to remind him what I can do. Even if I have to expose myself and use my medallion like I used to.' he swore.
Meanwhile Chris, Tails, and Amy were at Silver Valley enjoying a picnic by the lake.
"This picnic was a super idea, Amy! Mmm!" Tails said.
"It was worth the trip, even if there is no Emerald." Chris said.
"Shouldn't there be a lot of people here if they found a Chaos Emerald?" Amy asked.
"Maybe something else caused the energy spikes." Tails said.
"I guess it must have been a mistake. We could still have some fun while we're here." Tails said not seeing the water bubbling near them. "We could take a hike in the mountains, or go swimming in the lake."
Suddenly the water exploded upward in front of them, revealing Eggman's largest robot yet: E-47 Pumpty. Before they can run, Pumpty used a large digging claw to grabbed them. It opened the door to its glass cage before depositing the heroes inside. Eggman flew down from above in his Eggmobile.
"Eggman?!" Chris said and Eggman grinned in response. "You rat! You tricked him into broadcasting that news story!"
Eggman grinned in response.
"Ah-ah-ah-ah! I generated artificial energy spikes just like the ones made by Chaos Emeralds. It isn't my fault that those hounds barked up the wrong tree." he said showing them shots on an off-the-air TV and a traffic jam.
"I hate to admit it, but Eggman had even me outfoxed." Tails said.
"Huh?" Chris said.
Amy smirked then drew her hammer.
"Well his plan fails 'cuz we're out of here!" she said and slammed it on the glass several times, but didn't work.
Eggman laughed.
"You can't leave! I need you in case my first plan to beat Sonic fails." he said.
"Sonic isn't here!" Amy said.
"He'll be here any second now!" he said and chuckled then turned to Knuckles, who was sitting impatiently on a nearby cliff.
"Where's Sonic? He should've been here by now!" he said to himself feeling a bit of him telling him not to do it.
Then Sonic came.
"Hey there, Knuckles!" Sonic said and Knuckles stood up not noticing the medallion.
"You're late, slowpoke!" he said.
"Yeah, well, I stopped to enjoy the scenery!" he said then held up a flower. "This planet is pretty cool!" he continued and sniffed flower, "It's nice here! Yeah, you'd like this world too if you weren't such a party pooper."
"Enough talk, let's go!"
Sonic briefly showed any surprise.
"Your brain's even slower than your feet!" he said. "Even slower than the past and Chomps'!"
Knuckles became even madder and charged toward Sonic as the latter tossed away the flower. Sonic dodged Knuckles' punch, and was able to keep just out of range of a volley of incoming blows. As Knuckles punched through a rock, he saw that Sonic was standing on top of another rock and pus his hands on his hips.
Knuckles charged toward Sonic, preparing a massive punch, but Sonic leapt out of the way.
"Whoa!" he said and spin-dashed at him, who dodged.
Knuckles prepared a barrage of punches; which Sonic was easily able to keep out of range of.
Sonic bit his lip thinking he should do it.
'He needs to remember who you are.' a part of him said.
Then he fled from Knuckles, who gave chase. They ran up a cliffside and up a tree. Sonic stood at the top.
"Ah, not a bad view." he said and knew he had to do it.
Suddenly Knuckles picked up the tree, uprooting it, before throwing it. Sonic land on his feet on the ground below. He saw the tree falling toward him and leapt out of the way. More trees fell toward him, who dodged, as Knuckles punched the trees at him. Sonic ran from the falling trees.
Then he made a face at Knuckles enraging him.
Then a whole line of trees went down as Knuckles punched through them. While traversing across one fallen tree, another one fell onto it, catapulting Sonic into the air. He rolled down a tree that Knuckles was punching down, and rolled right into Knuckles' arms. He was able to push the him backward. They tumbled down the cliffside, eventually landing in the lake. Sonic's fear of water kicked in.
"Hey! Help me! Whaaah!" he said then realized he was in a shallow part of the lake and Knuckles wasn't impressed. "It's lucky I fell in the kiddie pool."he said and leaped out of the water. "Get ready! You're goin' down!"
"Hmph. Let's end this now!" Knuckles said.
"You won't want to end this when you see what I have on."
"Huh?"
Then Sonic looked at him strong and showed him what it was and he gasped recognizing it.
"I thought you left it with Sonia, Manic and Aleena." he said.
"Oracle came yesterday and told me to keep it with me."
"We need to make it look like I forgot about it so they don't know what you are."
Sonic bit his lip but nodded.
'Unless I need to use it like I used to.' he thought and they continued.
Eggman, Chris, Tails, and Amy were watching the fight.
"Go, Knuckles! Show Sonic he can't keep us stuck here! Our only hope is for you to trounce that tyrant!" Eggman said.
"Sonic." Chris said.
"Did they have to fight right now? Can't they free us first?" Amy asked.
Tails was trying to access the robot's programming and managed to open the panel.
"There." he said.
"Good work! How'd you do it?"
Tails held up his screwdriver.
"I... used my screwdriver." he said.
"You're really handy!"
"No big deal." Tails said and turned back to the panel. "Now I just have to figure out how this thing's wired."
"We don't have time for this, Tails!" Amy said and approached him, her hammer drawn. "Step aside. I'll fix that robot!"
"No! Don't!" Chris said.
"Amy!" Tails said was too late.
Amy smashed the panel, causing Pumpty to spark.
Part of Pumpty's glass casing was destroyed. Sonic noticed the smoke rising in the distance giving Knuckles the distraction he needed to gain the upper hand. He punched Sonic into the air. As he soared, he caught sight of Eggman far below.
"Get him, Knuckles!" Eggman shouted.
"It's Eggman!" Sonic said then landed and dashed in the direction of his arch-nemesis.
"Get back here!" Knuckles said pursuing after Sonic as if they didn't talk to each other like a few minutes ago. "You quitter!"
"We'll settle this later." Sonic said and zipped toward the smoke at Sonic speed.
Meanwhile, Chris, Tails, and Amy were trying to escape the wreckage of Pumpty.
"Heeey! Get us down from here!" Amy said.
Eggman swooped in.
"Look what you've done! You've wrecked my robot! And it isn't even insured..." he said.
Sonic zoomed in, and his speed caused Pumpty to fall over. Then he stopped.
"Hey! What's up?" he asked and the three brighten at the sight of him.
"Thanks, Sonic!" Chris said.
"It's not over, Sonic! My robot may be down, but it certainly isn't out." Sonic said.
Using its shovel arms as spare legs, Pumpty stood right back up. Several cannons came out of its bottom half, which was now its top half.
"Attack." Eggman said.
Pumpty's cannons fired at Sonic, who hid behind a rock. The lasers reduced the rock to dust. Sonic fled as the cannons continued to fire. Suddenly Knuckles appeared and kicked one of the cannons. Eggman gasped as Knuckles landed.
"This is a battle between Sonic and me! I'll fight my way!"
"ENOUGH!" Sonic yelled, tapped his medallion and a guitar came out causing them all (except Eggman and Knuckles) to gasp and Knuckles remember what can happen.
'Oh no.' Knuckles thought.
Then Sonic hit it getting Knuckles to go flying.
After that he put it away and shrugged.
"You know what I can do." he said looking at him.
"Fight your way? If you're going to insist on fighting a clean fight, then I'm going to start playing dirty!" Eggman said. "You're still what you were last time you joined me for helping!"
That got Knuckles to freeze and see what it was. From the day they met to the last time they were working together.
Sleet snickered.
"Brilliant plan, sir. We are on our way. Sleet out." he said and switched off the screen. "Put that in your backpack and let's go find the echidna." he said.
"Er, what's an echidna?" Dingo asked.
"Not "what", you dolt! "Who". It's who guards this island. His name is Knuckles, and he's in for a big Robotnik surprise. He's tough, and he's especially known for his-" Sleet started but fell into a pit trap. "TRAAAAPS!"
"Whoooaah!" Dingo said and ended with a thud.
"You wolf-faces should have stayed home. Now you get to be dinner!" he said
Sleet and Dingo noticed that they're tied together to a rotisserie.
"You- you're gonna eat us?!" Dingo said.
"No."
"Oh, phew
"Good." Sleet said.
Then he whistled and Chomps appeared from a bush.
"Waarrgh!" Sleet and Dingo said together.
"But Chomps will."
"You've got us all wrong, Mr. Knuckles. We are your friends!" Sleet said.
"Of course! All my friends sneak onto my island. I don't think so!"
"No, you don't understand! We're here to stop the real invaders! Three hedgehogs! I can prove it!"
"How?"
"Look in my pocket." Sleet said and Knuckles picked up a remote. "Press that button.
"Er, Sleet-" Dingo started feeling the heat.
"Shut up! The red button."
"SLEET!"
"Put a cork in it, Dingface! Check it out."
"Gotta cruise, dudes! We gotta find that Chaos Emerald before that dopey defender Knuckles gets us!" Sonic hologram said.
"You are not often right, older brother, but on this occasion I agree. Come, Manic!" Sonia hologram said.
"We are more clever than that dumb Knuckles guy!" Manic hologram said.
"M-Mr. Knuckles, we're getting a little warm here, if you don't mind, eh..." Sleet said.
"Those hedgehogs want the Emerald, do they? Well, they'll have to get past me! All right, you wolf-faces are free to go - this time. But you must leave the island now!" he said.
"An amiable deal, my friend. We'll be off the island faster than you can say "Sonic the Hedgehog"."
"Sorry, Chomps. But cheer up! I hear hedgehogs have just come into season..."
"Nice doggy..." Dingo said while Chomps threatened him. "Arrgh!"
"Outta here!" Sleet said.
"Aaargh!"
He heard Sonic gasp.
"Oof!" Manic said.
Sonic started laughing.
"Shhh! I'm getting a feeling, like there's something close by." Sonia said.
"Oh, big whoop! We're following your feelings around? Boy, it just doesn't get any better than this."
"Hey guys! Look at this! A sacred pool. I've read about these!"
"Huh?"
Sonia gasped
"Whoa, we're talkin' some serious special effects!"
"I can't believe it really exists!" she said and Manic tried to touch it. "Manic, don't!"
"What?" he said.
"I see something forming."
"Mom!"
"She's here! I knew it!"
'Mom?' he thought confused.
"Wow, looks like you were right, Sonia!" Sonic said.
"You're saying I'm right? Manic, you're a witness."
Sonic, Manic and Sonia gasped as the ground cracked open.
"Huh?" they said together as Knuckles burst out "Aaarrgh!"
"What's happening? Whoa, dude! You nailed that landing. I give it a 10!" Manic said.
"Hedgehog thieves!" he said.
Sonic coughed.
"Not exactly the welcome mat we expected." he said.
Sonia coughed.
"Look at this! You'd better have a real good dry-cleaners on this rock!" she said.
"You came here to steal the Emerald, but I'll stop you!" he said.
"Chill, fella, we're not thieves!" Sonic said then looked at Manic. "Well, mostly we're not. Anyway..."
He growled.
"Huh?" Sonic said and fell back. "Oof! Nice to meet you, too(!)"
"I hate thieves!" he said.
"Sonic! Are you all right?" Sonia said.
"Boy, that guy's good!" Manic said.
"What are you, nuts? 'Cos if you're thinking of starting a fan club, Manic... here comes your hero!" Sonic said.
Manic and Sonia gasped.
"Okay, knuckle-boy. If that's the way you wanna play it, let's get basic!" Sonic said.
"Sonic, wait! Maybe we can reason with him." Sonia said.
"Good idea, sis... NOT! Here's a taste of the Super Sonic Triple Spin, pal!"
Sonia gasped.
"Whoooaa!" he said.
"Whoaa!" Sonic said.
"Ugh!"
"You guys can jump in here any time, y'know."
"Ah, we knew you had it covered." Manic said.
"This time, we're gonna reason with him! Where'd he go?" Sonia said.
"Guess Super Spin was a little too much for him." Sonic said.
"Huh?" they said together.
"I would bet... not!" Manic said.
"Listen, echidna guy! We aren't here to steal anything! We're here to find Queen Aleena!" Sonia said.
"Whoa, maybe that worked!"
"Hey sis, what are your feelings telling you now?" Sonic asked.
"Er... that we'd better LEAVE!" Sonia said.
"Huh?"
"Huh?" Manic said.
"You're lying!" he said.
"I'll handle this." Sonic said.
"Sure! Why not? You've done such a superb job so far!" Sonia said.
Manic and Sonia screamed.
"He gasped and Sonic spun him round.
"Whooaa! Aaaagh!"
"One more time!" Sonic said and he burrowed into the ground. "Come back and fight, knuckle-butt!"
"Lying hedgehogs! Thieves!"
"Huh?"
"Okay. I've had enough." Sonia said.
"Heh!" he yelled and cut a support rope.
Manic and Sonia screamed.
"Hang on, guys! Here I-" Sonic started but fell into a trap. "Whooaaa!" he said and grabbed the edge. "Yes! he said when Knuckles arrived to drop him in. No!" he said straining then fell and screamed
"Goodbye, hedgehogs!" he said.
"Ooh, ah, ooh! Ah... " Sonic said then landed and got stuck. "Huh?" he said strained. "Hah! That's it. You're toast, knuckle-head! Outta here!"
"This doesn't look promising." Sonia said.
"Guess we'll have to wait for Sonic." Manic said.
"Guess again!"
"This is the place!" Sonic said and looked into the pit. "Whoa. Hellooooo? Here goes nothin'..."
"Hedgehog?" he said.
"That's gotta hurt." Sonic said and he charged at him. "Whoa, take a chill pill, dude! You're way too excited."
"Heearrrgh!"
"Obviously you haven't heard about the famous hedgehog's speed. All right, take your best shot!"
"Now you're mine, hedgehog!" he said.
"Ah, ah, uh, ooh, uh, ah! Come on. You can do better than that, knuckle-brain! We're not done yet, pal. You're takin' me to Sonia and Manic!" Sonic said.
"Hmm, that first step's a real trip." Sonic said.
"Hey, hedgehog! Can you fly?" he asked.
"Huh?" Sonic said then he cracked the bridge. "Bummer majores..." Sonic said. "Only one chance!" Sonic said and jumped across. "Uhh! Eyah! Spin and win time!"
"No!" he said.
"That wasn't very nice."
"Ah, ahh...!"
"Hmm, need a hand? Ah... just a little joke there!"
"Wah, wah..." he said and fell off the island. "Whooaa! Whooaaa!"
"Uh!"
"Why'd ya save me?"
"Let's talk, bud."
"Then the wolf-faces left the Floating Island." he said.
"Left? Seems hard to believe, Knuck. They're always after something." Sonic said.
"THE EMERALD!" he said and saw Sleet and Dingo in the Sacred Pool with the Emerald. "Nooooo!"
They gasped.
"Whoa! Why am I floating?!" Sonic asked.
"You're not floating, the island is falling!" he said.
"Oof!" they said.
"Whoa, oof!" they said together.
"Man, we'd better get that Emerald back, or we're gonna splatter like bugs when we hit!" Sonic said.
"Sonic!" Sonia said.
"Huh?" he and Sonic said together.
"Up there! Sleet and Dingo!"
Sleet chuckled
"Almost there! Hurry, Dingo!" Sleet said.
"Look! Ah, it's Sonia again!" Dingo said and stubbed his toe. "Oww!" he said and dropped the Emerald. "Uh-oh."
"Dingo, let's go!" Sleet said and saw the Emerald rolling away. "Argh, you idiot!" he said and pushed a button."SWATbots, move out. Retrieve the Emerald."
"They're getting away!" Sonia said.
"But not with the Emerald! Look! Let's do it to it!" Sonic said.
"Sonia? Manic?" Sonic said.
"Hey!" Sonia said.
"We did it!" Manic said.
"Whoa!" they said together.
"Sonic! The Emerald!" he said.
"Sleet! Dingo! You'd better have the Emerald. If you don't, I'm going to have you robotasized piece by piece! Where are you?! ANSWER ME!" Robotnik said.
"Sleet, did you ever hear a little voice, like, talkin' to ya?" Dingo said.
"This is krupnik, an echidna delicacy. It's good! Go ahead, eat up!" he said.
Sonic sniffed.
"Ahh, thanks Knux!" Sonic said.
"So, why did you come to Floating Island?" he asked.
"To find our Mom, Queen Aleena." Manic said.
"Queen Aleena is your Mom? Why didn't you say so? I knew her! She was here when I was just a kid!" he said smiling. "She left this for you."
"In the final days of Robotnik's tyranny..." Sonia said.
" ...allies will unite with my children. First among them will be Knuckles, guardian of the Chaos Emerald." Aleena narrated.
They looked at each other and put hands on top of each others.
"Floating Island to unknown aircraft. Identify yourself." he said and looked at the radar. "Hm, looks like a Robotnik-built flying SWATbot!"
"Oh, I can't believe I let you talk me into flying in this patched-up bot!" Sonic said.
"Chill, bro! It'll get us to the Floating Island, no prob." Manic said.
"Arm all anti-aircraft systems. Fire at will!" he said.
"Whoops! Problemo, sibs! They've locked on to us. Wish this bot had a radio."
"Just fly friendly. They won't shoot us down if we're not hostile." Sonia said.
Sonic, Manic and Sonia gasped.
"I don't think they know that." Sonia said.
"Whooaa!" Sonic, Manic and Sonia said together.
"I've got an idea." Sonic said.
"Oh, like your last one was just so good!" Manic said.
"Cease fire - they're friends!" he said.
"Phew!" Sonic said.
Sonic, Manic and Sonia gasped.
"It's good to have solid ground under my feet." Sonic said and looked over the edge. "Almost."
"Sonic? Manic? Sonia? What are you doing here? You could've been blasted to bits!" he said.
"Yeah, thanks for almost blowin' us outta the sky(!)" Sonic said.
"The round dude's built himself one seriously bad flying fortress!" Manic said.
"And we think it may be powered by a Chaos Emerald." Sonia said.
"A Chaos Emerald?!" he said.
"Yeah, is it possible that more than one Chaos Emerald exists?" Sonic said.
"They're rare, but if Buttnik's got his hands on one, he could be unstoppable!"
"That's why we need your help, big guy!"
"I'd like to help, but my first duty is to protect the Floating Island. I can't go chasin' all over Mobius! I gotta take care of my own people."
"Hey, wait a minute! You're a part of Mobius. If it goes, so does your precious island!" Sonia said.
"True, and you're the only dude who knows the skinny on Chaos Emeralds." Manic said.
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do." he said.
"All right, enough! I'll do it! I'll help you." he said.
"I knew you couldn't resist a good Buttnik kickin'!" Sonic said.
"Flaps: check! Rudder: check! Tires: check! Oil: check!" he said.
"Knuckles..." Athair said.
"In a minute. Extra little bags of in-flight peanuts: check!"
"Knuckles, listen to me."
"All right, already! I'm all ears." he said and turned around. "Great grandpa Athair! Is that you?"
"You must not leave the Floating Island."
"Why? But I promised my friends! Buttnik has to be stopped!"
"Great grandson, you have been warned. If you leave the Floating Island, all of Mobius could be destroyed. The fate of Mobius is in your hands."
"Great grandfather, what can I do to protect both Mobius and my friends?"
"There may be a way. The future can be changed. The fate of Mobius depends on your decision."
"Great grandfather-" he started but he vanished. "Wait! Don't leave!"
"Yo, who are you talkin' to, Knuckles?" Manic asked.
"Ah, er, no one. Hope I'm doin' the right thing!" he said.
"Then let's haul haunch!" Sonic said.
"Ready to dig in?" he asked.
"We're behind ya all the way." Sonic said.
"Now all we have to do is find the Chaos Emerald."
"What's that thing do?" Manic asked.
"This is a Chaometer. It tracks the energy from a Chaos Emerald, and there's one on board all right! Follow me."
"That's impossible! How did they get aboard my fortress?!" Robotnik said.
"Whoa, this Chaometer's going crazy! Something's coming..." he said.
"Uh-oh. Could be that green stuff that chased me before. We gotta get outta here!" Sonic said.
"Stand back!"
"Whoa!"
"There's a Chaos Emerald under us... through about a Mobius mile of mobibindum."
"So what are we waitin' for? Do your stuff, Knuckles!"
"This is bad! Residual energy's high, but it looks like somebody's already swiped the Emerald!" he said.
"Whoooaaa!" Sonia said.
Manic gasped.
"Without the Chaos Emerald, this fortress is sunk! We'll drop like a rock into the Mobian Sea!" he said.
"Into the..." Sonic said and gulped "sea?"
"Arrrgh! Aaaarrggh!" they all said and the fortress hit the ocean. "Whoooaaa, oof!"
"Man, that was some ride! At least Buttnik's overgrown beach ball was trashed and crashed." Manic said.
"But we didn't take the Chaos Emerald!" Sonia said.
"Yeah! So who did?" Sonic asked.
They were still trapped inside the rumbling fortress.
"Whoa, we gotta get out of here!" Manic said.
Then torrents of water crashed through the edge of the fortress and cover their feet.
"Water! We landed in the sea! Let's all hunch!" Sonic said and zoomed across the water and found an inlet. "This way!" he said and unlocked the inlet.
Then more water tried to barge through so he tried to keep it closed.
"Uh... Maybe not. Argh!"
Then the inlet came off and the water gushed through and dragged Sonic back to where he was standing.
"Man!" Sonic said and clears his nose but he grabbed his arm. "Why's it always gotta be water?!"
"Quick! In here!" Sonia said finding a clear inlet.
Sonic and Manic fell through while he looked before he jumped in.
"But, this is a garbage disposal! No way I'm gonna be diced up like a plate of leftovers!" he said angrily.
"Robotnik would never recycle his garbage. He's just dumping. Now" Sonia said and pushed him. "get down."
Sonia fell in too just before another explosion was seen behind them. Everyone screamed as they fell down the chute. They flew through the outlet and into the sea. Sonia, Knuckles and Manic floated above water and looked for Sonic.
"Where's Sonic?" Sonia asked to see Sonic floating briefly and thrash his arms about in the water.
"Ow! I can't swim!" Sonic said and brought his arm out as he sunk back into the sea.
"Sonic!" Sonia said.
"Hold on, Sonic!" he said and swam towards Sonic.
Then Sonic's hand disappeared and he dove down.
"Sonic! Knuckles!" he heard Sonia yell.
A moment later, he pulled Sonic above water and was also holding a rope.
"I pulled this off the wreck!" he said and tied the rope around Sonic. "Hold on to this!"
Sonic held on to the rope and Knuckles bit into it and started swimming Sonic to the shore.
"Hey! What?!" Sonic said feeling the rope tug. "Argh!"
"Yikes!" Manic said feeling the rope tug.
"Whoa!" Sonia feeling the same thing.
Sonic was dragging across the water and managed to stand on the water and start surfing.
"Hey! Way cool!" Sonic said then stretched his arms out and wobbled.
"Yo, check this out!" Manic said while they were taken to an island.
Later a campfire was made while Sonia straightened her hair and whipped it to shake off the water.
"Ah... That's much better. The weight look is definitely over rated." she said.
Sonic poked around inside his ear and water poured out.
Manic chuckled.
"Bro. Hope there's not a fish in there." he said then laughed.
Sonic cringed.
"Very funny." Sonic said while he walked in.
"There is no time to argue. Robotnik's Chaos Emerald is still missing. We've gotta find it before whoever took it tries to use it."
"We need the van." Manic said.
"No prob lo, I know where to go." Sonic said and prepared a Super Peel Out. "Be back as fast as I can drive a van." he continued and peeled off. _
Manic was sleeping by the campfire, while Sonia and him walked along the sand.
"Oh it's so peaceful out here, you can almost forget about Butt-nik, about everything." Sonia said.
"I can't forget about the Chaos Emerald. We've got to find it." he said.
"Don't worry. We'll find it."
"Maybe I should have stayed on the floating island. Great-grandfather Athair warned me that something bad would happen if I left the island."
"It's not your fault we didn't get the Chaos Emerald."
"I know, but Athair is never wrong!"
They gasped and watched in the distance. The Emerald's energy approached them at high speed.
"Energy!" he said.
It strike the ground. They stood back and dodge the attack. Sonia lost her footing and fell on her back.
"Oh my gosh!" she said.
Cracked form through the land underneath Sonia. Sonia was forced to keep her balance.
"Help!" she said.
"Look out!" he said.
"Knuckles!" she screamed as she fell down through the cracks.
"Sonia!" he said.
After a while, Sonia landed on a rock and breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, she looked up and heard more crumbling noises.
"Sonia, hold on!" he said.
"Well, duh." she said and braced herself by leaning next to her wall and the cracks cave in. "Elp!"
Suddenly, a piece of land broke underneath her foot.
"Help! Hurry, Knuckles!" she said.
More land crumbled beneath her. He jumped to the other side of the crack and spun downwards. Sonia then saw a tunnel in front of her and gasped. He appeared and offered a hand.
"Sonia?" he said.
"What took you so long?!" she asked.
The land broke under her feet. Sonia fell but he grabbed her just in time. He tried to pull her up but struggled. He looked at the falling rocks coming down.
"Uh oh." he said and pulled her to safety just before the rocks fell on them.
They made their way to the top on dry land. Manic arrived at the scene.
"Man. I'm like "What happened?"." Manic asked.
The ground shook underneath them and they started wobbling. The cracks continued to cave in. As soon as the cave closed, a giant thud sent them up in mid-air and they all landed on their backs. He rubbed his head.
"Something must have released the chaos energy inside the Emerald." he said.
"But the emerald makes them fly." Sonia said.
"Yeah, man. It doesn't shake them apart like a pair of crazy maracas." Manic said.
"The Chaos Emerald is a source of power. You can harness it for all kinds of things, like levitating the floating island, or Robotnik's fortress. But if the energy is released without any control, the result is..." he said.
"Chaos?" Sonia said.
"All over Mobius." he said quietly.
The trio were trapped inside a plethora of chaos energy.
"We gotta find the Emerald and see if..." he started but they all gasped and watched a tornado slowly approaching them.
"Oh no!" Sonia said
"Whoa, dude!" Manic said.
"Look out!" he said.
They all moved away from the they hid in a pit. the twister moved away.
"Man, that was close." Manic said.
He and Manic gave themselves high five, while Sonia watched the tornado.
"Well, we missed it alright... but... is it heading straight for Port Mobius?!" she said scared.
Manic touched his Medallion which turned into a drum set. He banged the drums with all his might while Sonia and him covered their ears and eyes. Soon, he screamed as the Emerald's energy flashed. It shines a huge light which covers the screen. It was then turned into a firework display of purple, yellow and green bangers. Manic's drums banged to a beat as hurricane-symbol shaped works appear either side. A meteor shower covered the screen and touched the ground. The fireworks disappeared and the energy stopped.
"That should do it!" Manic said.
The Camper Van arrived and parked next to the trio. As it did so, sand was whipped up in their faces, causing them to cough. Sonic opened the pod on top and lost his temper.
"Hey! While you guys have been relaxing on the beach, the rest of Mobius has been falling apart!" Sonic said.
"Tell us something we don't know." Sonia said while she rubbed sand off her skirt.
"Oh... Somebody's release the energy from the Chaos Emerald." Manic said.
"No wonder things have been so... uh..." Sonic said.
"Yank?" Sonia said.
"Yeah. Thanks, sis." Sonic said while he cringed.
"Oh no..." he said.
"Hey! We're not beaten yet Knuckles! Don't let Chaos get you down!" Sonic said confidently.
The three hedgehogs were alongside each other.
"It's like I say. When faced with disaster, just move a little faster." Sonic said.
"You're right." he said with a thumbs up. "We're not beaten."
"Yes."
The Underground nodded their heads.
"There's one person who might be able to help us now: My great grandfather Athair, the ancient sage of the Echidnas." he said. _
Meanwhile, The Camper Van is parked next to a stairway. The heroes moved out.
"Athair lives in a cave at the top of the mountain." he said.
"All the way up there? Yeah, what is it with you echidnas in height?" Manic said as they walked up the stairs.
"To think I paid good mobiums for exercise classes to do this!" Sonia said annoyed.
"Look on the bright side, sis. After climbing these stairs, at least you'll get somewhere." Sonic said.
"Very funny, Sonic!" _
They made it to the top of a stairway. Sonia and Manic were sweating and trying to catch their breath.
"Oh man." Manic said panting. "I think Athair could've really used" he continued still panting. "an elevator."
Knuckles: He's a hermit. He doesn't have many visitors." he said.
"No surprise there." Manic said scoffing.
They carried on walking and arrived at a cave. At the end of it is Athair was facing away from them.
"Great-grandfather Athair. There's been a terrible..." he started.
"The Chaos Emerald has been broken. I can feel the chaos swirling around us tearing Mobius apart." Athair said then picked up the Canister and showed it to him. "Take this, place the pieces of the emerald inside the canister."
"And then what?" Sonic asked annoyed.
"That is the only one way to stop the chaos from destroying Mobius. You must make an alliance..." Athair said and faced them. "with Robotnik.
"Oh no! Robotnik?!" Sonic said shocked.
"Oh seriously bad news, dude." Manic said.
"Are you serious? Chaos is bad enough but Robotnik? Oh we're talking trouble."
"It is the only way." Athair said.
"But Robotnik? Knuckles, he can't be right." Sonic said bawling.
"Athair has spoken." he said holding the canister.
They walked back to their Camper Van.
"I'm with Sonic. No way I trust Butt-nik round that Chaos Emerald." Manic said.
"Sonia?" he said.
"Well, maybe, maybe Athair's wrong? Even wise men make mistakes." Sonia said.
"Looks like I'm outvoted."
"Don't worry, Knuckles. It'll be cool. We just gotta find that juice." Sonic said.
The door of the Camper Van opened and they stepped back as Sleet was at the other end.
"Going somewhere?" Sleet asked evilly.
"Sleet?" Sonic said.
The Swatbots approached them.
"I've got you this time!" Sleet said.
Sonic pressed the button that closes the door, locking sleet in. Knuckles was still holding the canister but spun and dug a hole. The Swatbots loaded their guns." Sonic said.
"In here!" he said.
Sleet saw him still holding the canister.
"But what are you doing here?" Sleet asked.
"I need Robotnik's help to find the Chaos Emerald and save Mobius." he said and offered the Canister to Sleet. "Take this to Robotnik."
The canister glowed.
The swatbots shot out some glue. The van drove over it and got stuck.
Sonia gasped
They all left the van.
"Huh?" Sonia said.
"We're stuck!" Sonic said.
Lightning struck again. Manic suddenly saw Robotnik from up high.
"Bad news sibs - Buttnik!" Manic said.
The Swatbots aimed their guns again.
"Don't leave! Stick around!" Robotnik said.
The Swatbots fired again. Sonic, Manic and Sonia got stuck in huge dollops of glue. Sonic strained and tried to get the glue off, but they stuck on both hands instead.
"Sonic!" Sonia said.
"Knuckles, quick! Help!" Sonic said.
"I'm sorry... But... It's for the good of Mobius." he said.
Sonic, Manic and Sonia gasped. Robotnik lowered and parked his vehicle.
"Surprise, surprise! It was your friend Knuckles who led you into my trap!" Robotnik said.
"Knuckles?!" Manic and Sonia said.
He looked guiltily at them, then looked down.
"No! I don't believe it!" Sonia said.
"I had to." he said. "I kept my part of the bargain, Robotnik. Now we find the emerald!" he said angrily to Robotnik.
"Yes! The Emerald. But first thing's first - Bring out the portable roboticizing chamber!" Robotnik said.
He gasped.
"A perfect ending, your roundness. Only you could trick Knuckles into betraying the hedgehogs." Sleet said.
More lightning struck.
"You said you wouldn't robotasize them." he said.
Robotnik gasped.
"Not robotasize them?! Did I say that?" Robotnik said.
"Not that I recall." Sleet said.
He gasped.
"I didn't think so. Start with Sonia!" Robotnik said.
"Don't touch me you butt-head!" Sonia said while the swatbot grabbed her Sonia. "Wha! Hey! Ow!"
She screamed as the Swatbot carried her towards the Roboticizer's chamber.
"No!" he yelled and prepared a fist attack, scaring Sleet behind the building.
Robotnik took steps back. As a swatbot came in and blocked the entrance, he came in with his fists and destroyed the swatbot. Then he grabbed the Swatbot's gun and began to shoot...
"No Knuckles..." Robotnik said.
The gun was fired at the Swatbot holding Sonia, setting her free.
"Yeah! Get 'em Knux!" Sonic said.
"Ah yeah, get 'em Knux, let 'em have it! Ha, ha... Nice going!" Manic said.
He shot the glue gun repeatedly at it, causing it to fall into the roboticizing pod.
"No! You can't robotasize a robot, you'll overload the system!" Robotnik said.
As the roboticizer overloads, Sonic struggled to break free of the glue.
"Whoa!" Sonia said.
The Roboticizer exploded, blasting Sonia high while still attached to the glue and making her scream. She was pulled into a particular spot, and her eyes rolled in dizziness.
"Now to dissolve that glue." he said and used a different gun on Sonia, removing the glue that was on her.
"Ah!" she said.
Then he shot at Manic and Sonic, dissolving the glue and breaking them free.
"Good to have you back, dude." Manic said.
Sonic, Sonia and Manic hopped inside their van and he destroyed the glue around the Van. The Van drove away."
"He destroyed my roboticizing chamber! Get him!" Robotnik said angrily and Swatbots chased after them.
"Hang on! Manic man stops for no bot!" Manic said.
The van drove through two Swatbots, knocking them over. Lightning struck again. Manic looked away while driving and exhaled in relief.
Sonia gasped
"Manic!" she said.
Sonic immediately tapped Manic, making him alert again. Lava spread towards them from ahead.
Manic gasped and put his foot hard on the brake pedal.
The van started skidding.
"No!"
"That chaos wave must have set it off!" Sonic said.
"Better back it up - Or we're hedgehog stew!"
Swatbots and Robotnik's vehicle chased from behind. Lightning struck again.
"Yo, we can't go backwards!" Manic said.
"Follow me!" he said and jumped out and broke a hole through a wall.
They advanced through the hole with the lava following them. The lava headed for Robotnik's vehicle and his swatbots.
The vehicle started reversing away from the lava. Meanwhile, the Sonic, Manic and Sonia made it to the ground above.
"Quick thinking Knuckles!" Sonia said.
"Yeah - I really dug what you did!" Sonic said and aughed
"Good one Sonic!" Manic said.
"I never should've trusted Robotnik." he said miserably.
"You were desperate to save Mobius. I might have done the same thing in your place." Sonia said.
"Hey, are you forgetting something? We still gotta find the Emerald!" Sonic said.
"Did you get the Emerald?" he asked.
"I think we're gonna need a bigger canister." Sonic said and Dingo approached.
"Chaos! I want CHAOS!" Dingo echoed.
"Dingo? Oh man, and I thought he was ugly before!" Manic said.
"Chaos definitely isn't his look." Sonia said.
"Rargh!" Dingo said.
Chaos Dingo unleashed an energy blast to the top of a mountain, which erupted into a volcano. He created brick-shaped fists and pounded the top of two nearby mountains, erupting more lava. He roared at the heroes, whom have shocked looks on their faces.
"He'll tear the whole planet apart!" he said.
"Not if we stop him!" Sonic said and gives the canister to him and shot at Dingo using his guitar, but he was unharmed.
"Argh!" Dingo said and smashed down on the ground so Sonic dashed away to avoid.
"Ah!" Sonic said.
Manic brought out his drums and banged them repeatedly.
"You call that an earthquake? This is an earthquake." Dingo said and pounded the ground so hard that Manic's drum set shatters.
Manic gasped.
"Whoa dude!" Manic said.
An arch broke off and another volcano erupted.
"He's too strong!" Sonic said nervously.
Chaos Dingo casually walked away. Robotnik's vehicle arrived by Sonic, Sonia and Manic.
"Robotnik! Oh just what we need." Sonic said.
"Get the hedgehogs!"
"Wait! Dingo swallowed the Chaos Emerald!" he said.
"He's turned into a monster!" Manic said.
"He'll spread chaos all over Mobius!" Sonia said.
"And your point is..." Robotnik said.
"He's heading straight for Robotropolis! He'll turn you into rubble if we don't stop him!" Sonia said.
"Ooh, I'm scared! As if Dingo could do anything right." he said ordering to the Swatbots "Get up!" Robotnik said pretending to be scared.
Then Swatbots set off.
"Ahh." Robotnik said.
"But Dingo stole the Emerald from you! You gonna let him get away with that? You're the man, the Buttnik! The Butt my sir, you're gonna let Dingo make a monkey out of you? You'll be the laughing stock of Mobius!" Sonic said.
"Nobody steals from Robotnik and gets away with it. I do all the stealing around here!" Robotnik said.
Sonic: That's the old Buttnik I know and don't love! Now picture this... I got a plan to put Dingo in his place.
Sonic whispered into Robotnik's ears.
"Hmm... I like it!" Robotnik said.
The Swatbots used the glue gun to stick Dingo to the ground.
"I can't walk!" Dingo said struggling.
Sonic pushed Robotnik forward for a brief moment.
"W-What are you doing? What am I supposed to do now?" Robotnik asked and Sonic gave Robotnik a thumb up.
"Just stand right there!" he said.
"Why?" Robotnik asked then Sonic zoomed off. "No wait!" he said.
"I'm falling!" Dingo said and tumbled on top of Robotnik he spit out the Chaos Emerald.
The Chaos Emerald shard floated up in the air. He ran as hard as he could. Then he dove and body surfed along the ground, keeping the canister upright. He caught all the shards and the canister glowed. He closed the lid of the canister. Sonic, Manic and Sonia walked over to him.
"Nice catch!" Sonic said.
"Give the credit to the team!" he said smiling.
"Athair, we brought you the Chaos Emerald for safekeeping." he said.
"The Emerald must be kept by you. On the floating island." Athair said.
"But you'll be coming with us won't you, to join the resistance?" Sonia said.
"Knuckles' duty lies on the floating island. Just as your duty lies with the resistance." Athair said.
"And finding mom!" Sonic said.
"But if you ever need a break from fighting Buttnik, there's always room on the floating island." he said.
"And you're welcome to sit in with a Band anytime!" Sonia said and kissed him.
He heard someone and whistled and Chomps got off of them.
"Sonic?" he said.
"Hey Knuckles." Sonic said and got up.
"What are you doing here?" he asked smiling.
"I need your help with something. My mom, Sonia and Manic can't help me or do anything about this."
"What is it and where's your medallion?"
So Sonic sighed and explained what was going on.
"I'm sorry. But don't worry, I'll help you with him." he said.
"Thanks." Sonic said smiling.
"I wonder who the other person is?"
"I don't know. I don't know what the part that said I'll get though."
Then they heard Chomps start growling and ran to see what was going on. Then they saw someone trying to get the Master Emerald.
"Hey!" he said while Sonic figured part of it out.
Sonic ran over to the seven Emeralds.
"Sonic? What are you doing with the seven Chaos Emeralds?" he asked after kicking the person after the Master Emerald.
"I figured part of it out!" Sonic said and put down the seven Emeralds, shut his eyes and felt himself going up.
He and the enemy looked at him in awe.
When Sonic was done he was gold, orange eyes and his fur up.
Then Sonic took out his hand.
"CHAOS SPERE!" he said and got the person after the Master Emerald. "WHOA!"
He stood there in shock then looked at Sonic.
"Keep doing that. I'll grab the Master Emerald!" he said and Sonic nodded then went flying and took care of the enemy.
When they were done Sonic went down and let the Emeralds out of him.
"You OK?" he asked.
"Yeah." Sonic said and he heard the Master Emerald say something.
"Huh?" he said confused.
"What?"
"The Master Emerald said that you're allowed to use the seven Chaos Emeralds whenever you need them. All you have to do is focus and then only you and one other person can when you need help."
"This is my reward after helping you. And only I can use it and one other person with my permission to help." Sonic said and he figured it out to.
"Wow." he said.
"Next part is a team name. Any ideas?"
"Team Sonic after helping me with the Master Emerald?" he said.
"Sounds good. So, I'll call you when I need your help."
He nodded then was told something else.
"I can shrink you and stay with him?!" he said in shock.
That shocked Sonic to.
"OK then, looks like I can stay with you."
"Alright then, let's get going."
Then he shrunk the Master Emerald and they headed to find Robotnik.
Then he came back, shook his head and saw Pumpty using its new legs, and activated rocket engines and blasted into the air, carrying a terrified Tails, Amy, and Chris with it. It landed on the other side of the lake. He gasped.
'What did I do?' he thought then shut his eyes even after the plan they had just made.
"I'm sorry Sonia, Manic." he whispered.
"Plan A didn't work, so now we'll have to go on to Plan B. Bring me that Chaos Emerald, or you'll never see your friends again!" Eggman said.
"What is this? Robotnik swore to me that all he wanted was to live in peace." Knuckles said.
"He's sure tricky, isn't he?" Sonic said playing with his medallion causing Knuckles to wince remembering what he did over the years.
"That swindler. He lied!" he said. "Like last time!"
"You're catchin' on, pal."
"Sonic!" Eggman said and Sonic turned to him. "We all know your weak spot is water. So I stuck your friends over there, where you can't save them without treading H2O."
"Yeah, that's what you think." he said and proceeded to run around the lake, much to Eggman's dismay.
Then he sliced right through Pumpty's legs, causing it to fall. Then he stopped, a smug expression on his face.
"Show-off." Eggman said while Sonic pulled Chris from the wreckage.
"Are you all right?" he asked.
"I'm okay." Chris said.
A tearful Amy embraced Sonic.
"Take it easy, Amy." he said.
"I just knew that you'd come here to save me!" she said
Then the four were distracted by a movement from Pumpty.
The four fled as Pumpty used its rockets to levitate in the air.
"I'm not calling it quite yet, Sonic! You only had a preview of this robot's firepower. You and your friends are through!" Eggman said.
Pumpty opened a hatch, and unleashed a huge swarm of rockets at the heroes. "I got you now!"
Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Chris took cover behind a rock as the missiles explode around them. Sonic got up and was about to tap his medallion when Knuckles appeared.
"Let me take care of Buttnik." Knuckles said and winked smiling.
"Okay." he said.
Then Knuckles charged toward Pumpty, avoiding its laser fire, before leaping into the air and punching several holes in Pumpty. From the top of Pumpty, he jumped to Eggman's level.
"You..." Eggman started but was cut off.
"You liar! I almost hurt one of my best friends!" he said and punched the Eggmobile away.
Hearing what Knuckles said got Amy to stand there in shock while Sonic and Tails smiled and nodded.
"Huh?" Amy said.
"Aaaaaahhhhh!" Eggman said and the Eggmobile disappeared in a twinkle.
Knuckles then landed on top of Pumpty, punching its head. A crack ran right down the robot, and it exploded. As Sonic's friends shield themselves from the debris, Sonic ran forward toward Knuckles.
He grabbed Knuckles' hand and clung to a tree while the explosion's wind whips through them. The wind finally died down, and Tails, Amy, and Chris blinked in surprise at the ruined scenery. Sonic and Knuckles leapt down from the tree. Knuckles smiled at Sonic.
"I'm sorry. I should've known you better. You three helped me so many times over the years and I thought you were doing that. I knew only you can use the Chaos Emeralds and I believed him. When you hit me with your medallion I saw the day we met to the day you helped me save the Master Emerald when you left. That's the second time I fell for him. You even exposed your medallion and what it can do for me." he said feeling guilty.
"You didn't mean to. I didn't want them to know what it can do but if it involves helping a friend I'll do it." Sonic said smiling. "I just wish there was a way to erase their memory of that."
"Maybe Oracle can do it?"
"You just might be right. I'll call him later."
Then they heard something.
"Soooniiiiic!" Amy said.
"Oh no." Sonic said and Knuckles fought the laughter in him while she, Tails, and Chris ran up to the him.
"You both made it!" Chris said.
Amy embraced Sonic in a hug causing Knuckles to give in and start laughing hard and now on his back.
"Yeah." Sonic said.
"Sonic!" Amy said.
When Knuckles calmed down he turned to leave.
"Knuckles!" Chris said.
Knuckles waved at them and Amy ran after him.
"I bet you want to apologize to Sonic for believing all the lies Eggman told about him, and you probably want to thank him too while you're too proud." she said.
Knuckles suddenly turned on Amy.
"Amy!" Sonic said.
"Zip it!" Knuckles said.
Amy was taken aback for a moment, but she smiled and Knuckles smirked at the rest of the group.
"Later." he said while he waved and left.
"Why don't we head back home?" Chris asked.
"OK." Tails and Amy said while Sonic stood there in silence.
"Sonic?" Tails said.
"You go ahead, I'll be there in a few." he said and they nodded and headed home.
When they were gone Sonic sighed.
"Oracle!" Sonic said.
"You called?" Oracle said.
"As prince and heir of Mobotropolis I command you to erase Amy, Tails and Chris' memory of seeing what my medallion can do." he said seriously.
"As you wish prince Sonic." he said then snapped his fingers. "They now forget what it's capable of doing."
"Thank you. You may now go."
Oracle nodded then bowed and left.
Sonic sighed and went back to the house.
