Chapter Eight: We're Still Not Friends

Joey wandered down a park alone. He needed it. He was going to have his first rehearsal tomorrow and he was not confident.

But that's how he feels about most things.

He sat down on a park bench next to a random gorl.

"Oh, of course!" The girl sighed.

Joey looked up, of course it was Lauren Lopez.

"Well we just keep running into each other I said sarcastically.

"Yea and I don't like running into the guy who humiliated me!" She said angrily.

"I said sorry." Joey mumbled.

Lauren rolled her eyes and got up,

"Whatever."

About half an hour later Joey decided he should probably head home.

As he got to the gates of the park he heard someone scream in the distance.

He turned around and saw two huge buff guys cornering someone at the back of the park.

It was really dark and late, Joey didn't see anyone so he thought he'd just see what was happening.

As he got closer he hid behind and tree and realized the person that the two guys were mugging was Lauren Lopez.

Oh shit Joey thought.

"Don't worry kid, just hand over the bag and their won't be any trouble." One of the guys said.

"NO!! She should be worried! If you don't give us the bag there will be consequences!" The other one demanded.

Joey could see and hear that Lauren was crying a lot.

Privileged bitch probably never had to go through anything hard before.

But Joey wasn't just gunna walk away, he was better than that. He had to think of something.

"Y-you wouldn't want anything in there!" Lauren said through tears.

"Ooh I think we would!" The bigger guy said "We know your rich Lopez."

"N-no!"

Come on Joey do something! Their gunna kill her!

"Fine we'll justify this the hard way." The smaller one said as he took out a knife.

"HEY!"

The two guys turned around and Joey richter was standing there unarmed.

Oh great thinking Joey! Now your just both gunna die!

"Uh- leave her alone." Joey exclaimed.

The two guys laughed."Get lost kid." They both said.

Okay, Joey you have their attention, do something! Anything!

So with that Joey ran up and punched the smaller guy.

"Ow!" He said "ok twerp you asked for it."

The smaller guy stepped aside as the bigger one came over and punched Joey in the stomach.

Joey fell to the ground and the two guys laughed. "Now are you gunna leave or do you want more?" The bigger one asked.

"N-no!" He answered timidly.

Joey what are you doing!? Your risking your life for someone who hates you!

"Well ok then." Both the guys said.

A couple minutes later and Joey has been punched a lot at this points so threw up twice.

And the worst part is it wasn't helping anyone.

Until out of no where Lauren decides to finally help.

"STOP!" She screamed as she kicked the bigger guy in the penis.

"Hahahahhahahahha!!!!" The other one laughed as the bigger one fell to the floor. "Ok pretty enough messing around just give the bag before your boyfriend throws up again!" And he grabbed Lauren.

Joey mustered what little strength he had and got up and punched the guy unconscious.

"Joey I-"

"No time just go!"

Joey and Lauren has ran far out of the park Lauren just said to go back to her apartment as it wasn't far.

When they got there Jamie was there but Julia wasn't for some reason.

"RICHTER?!" Jamie started but Lauren cut her off.

"It's fine Jamie, Joey come in here." She said and lead Joey into her room.

"Come sit down." She nodded towards the bed and they both sat.

"So they uh- those guys really did a number on your eye." She said.

Joey looked in the mirror she had on her wall and realized he had a big black eye.

"Oh ha." He laughed.

"Why did you do that?" She asked. "You know I hated you."

" I know," Joey reminded her. "But I did it because…"

"Because?"

"Because I love you."

Lauren looked at Joey with an expression that Joey couldn't tell us it was good or not.

"Oh-I-I'm sorry that was stupid, it was…dumb." He said quickly.

God Joey your such an idiot!

"Uh-yea." Lauren said quietly.

"Well I guess we can just go back to hating each other then." Joey laughed.

"Y-yea."

"We'll see ya."

Just as Joey left the apartment and was outside Lauren came up behind him.

"Joey I-I just wanted to tell you that… I don't hate you AS much as I did." And then she just smiled and walked away.

That was a good day.
