Time seemed to fly by, it was now late August and Rory only had a week and a half left of her pregnancy. Her official due date September 10th but they wasn't going to let her get past 39 weeks, she had bravely opted for a normal vaginal birth and the boys seemed to be complying which was apparently rare in twin pregnancies, most were born early and via a c section, she just kept her fingers crossed the boys would come when they were ready as to not be induced. She was currently getting dressed ready to go to the baby shower the mothers and grandmothers had prepared for her. She was looking forward to it, it was strictly female only and the men where going for a game of golf at the country club and more than likely a few hours in the bar. As she gazed into the mirror she couldn't believe what the last few months had brought. Mitchum had done a big announcement in the paper about the pregnancy, she was inundated with congratulations, even from people she didn't know. Steph and Colin had moved in across the hall in June after Colin had passed the bar, the couple had then gotten married and the wedding was spectacular. Although it never brought as much attention as Rory and Logan's wedding it was still a blue blood joining, just what the elder blue bloods liked. They then jetted off on their honeymoon with a happy surprise when they got back, Stephanie was pregnant. She had gotten baby fever as soon as she found out about Rory being pregnant. In May Honor had announced she was also expecting and it was quite sweet, the couple found out on Mother's Day and like Rory it was a surprise to them both. Unbeknown to anyone else Honor had been through the ringer the last year with health problems but luckily everything seemed to be going well now, and their little boy was due just before Christmas. They say it comes in threes. Finn had for the most part moved out, him and Maddie were staying in an apartment just up the road, their relationship was not perfect by any means but they were in love, anyone could see it, Rory knew it wouldn't be long before an engagement or maybe even a baby announcement came, the group were all growing up. Finn loved children more than Maddie and Rory couldn't wait to see him with the boys, she knew people shouldn't play favourites but there was no denying Finn would definitely become favourite uncle as the boys got older.
She stroked her baby bump talking to the boys as usual when a knock came on the door and opened. She waddled through to greet Stephanie who looked beautiful, but Rory could see the signs pregnancy was taking on her. She had bad morning sickness which Steph thought was some sort joke as it lasted day and night, nothing morning about it! no one knew she was pregnant yet, only the group of friends but that would change in a weeks time when she went for her 12 week check up. She was using the same doctor as Rory and was convinced she was having a girl because she was the only one of the 3 pregnant friends being so sick! Colin had already warned Logan that if indeed it was a little girl that his boys had better stay clear much to the amusement of the rest of the group. It was as of they had all suddenly grown up, gone were the days of jumping off scaffolding and having parties that lasted till morning but somehow it seemed right. It was as if they had all grown together, and before any of them knew it their kids would be running around and no doubt causing mayhem. She looked forward to everything that was coming, even the sleepless nights that everyone knew was inevitable, but the thought of them all going through the same stages at the same time just seemed to fit. Soon Maddie had also arrived and after a quick drink the trio set off, they left in plenty of time as sit was not as easy as it had once been carrying 2 babies around, Rory managed well but getting in and out of the car and even trying to put on shoes was no longer a simple task. She saw the funny side though and warned both her friends that they would understand one day soon. Maddie just laughed off the comment but everyone knew she would soon be joining the mom club too.
As the girls arrived at the Hayden mansion even Rory was shocked. It looks beautiful, there was blue balloons everywhere, a blue and white flower arch at the front door and beautiful flowers and candles lining the driveway. When they walked inside the shocks just kept coming, everything was perfect. The long table had a pure white table clothe with pastel blue runner down the middle, there was a huge centre piece of flowers of blue whites and grey which looked stunning with the large crystal chandelier above it. Name cards were placed at every setting with a large table plan as you walked into room. There were small scattered diamonds down the runner (which Rory hoped were not real) and small blue dummies. At the end of the large table was a beautifully hand carved throne in white with a velvet blue seat. Everything was just perfect! She and Steph were soon greeted by the women who had organised it all and within half an hour the guests were arriving.
4 hours later and the shower was winding down, the gifts Rory had received were beyond words, some of the guests had simply handed her an envelope whilst other had really spared no expense on clothes, toys and keepsakes for the babies. She loved the rompers which could apparently be personalised with the baby's initials but her and Logan hadn't yet told anyone the names they had picked for the boys. They hadn't completely decided until about a week ago and she had some special people to talk to first before she told anyone the names.
Rory had still been working and had set up the network from her office at home so she didn't have to travel everyday, she really enjoyed what she was doing much to her surprise , she still kept her toe dipped in the publishing world but felt quite proud of what her grandpa had achieved and really wanted it to be a Gilmore legacy. Not because it was what was expected but because she wanted to, she wanted her boys to have options, she knew even before they were born that there would be a lot for them to consider as they got older. There was her grandpa's insurance firm, pops law firm and of course HPG. They boys didn't have to go into any of them sectors if they don't want to, her and Logan had already discussed the boys and any future children would always be free to make their own choices with the full support of their parents, but if they did decide to follow in the family businesses they would be set up for life.
Steph had managed to make it through the afternoon only nipping off to the rest room twice, no body seemed to notice but Honor had given her a smile and a wink so Rory was pretty sure her sister in law had a suspicion, luckily she didn't ask Rory outright because she was an appalling liar, she had guilt written all over her face when ever questioned. When the girls finally got home they decided they would go to Steph's and watch a movie suspecting the boys would be out until late, much to their surprise when they headed in the boys were already back. Greetings were made all round and Rory explained that someone would be dropping off all the gifts the next day. The 6 of them decided they would all sit and watch a movie like back in the day, it wasn't too often they got a chance now between them all working and normal life getting in the way, Rory nipped back to her apartment and got all the essential supplies and the movie night began. The 3 girls were soon fast asleep, Maddie curled up on Finns lap, Rory with her pregnancy pillow between her legs and Stephanie in the armchair. The boys being the gentleman that they were grabbed some blankets and throw them over there partners. Finn couldn't move but repositioned himself to get a little more comfortable as Colin and Logan went onto the balcony with a scotch.
"How are you feeling Huntz? Only got what is it now ten days left max?"
"Yeah 10 days tomorrow, I'm excited can't wait to finally meet them! Time seems to have flown by but also gone quite slow if you get me"
"You'll be a great dad Huntz, we might not have had the typical upbringing but that's what makes us different, we know what not to do with our own kids and look at Rory she's a born mom, and you've got all of us"
"Yeah I know still scary though isn't it"
"100% I still can't believe that we are married and having kids and even Finn has settled down, I knew I would marry Stephanie from being young, you know what it was like for us, it was always her, no one ever came close but you... that was the shock, but as soon as I saw the pair of you together I just knew Rory was to you what Steph is to me, and there's something quite sexy about your women carrying your baby don't you think"
The boys began to laugh, but as soon as Colin had made the comment he couldn't agree more, the fact Rory was carrying his 2 boys just made her even more perfect in his eyes, the more her bump grow and how her figure filled out sent Logan wild.
"You are so right Col, and believe me man once Steph gets over this sickness it must be there hormones, but all ace has wanted to do is... "
"I wouldn't finish that sentence if I was you Logan we don't need to tell Colin all our dirty secrets"
The boys spun round not even hearing the door open, stood in the doorway with a blanket wrapped around her was Rory, over the years she has perfected Logan's trademark smirk and it was scary. She stepped out onto the balcony and the trio laughed and continued talking for about another 30 minutes until Rory announced she was heading home to bed. Logan quickly followed behind her as they said their goodbyes. Madeline and Stephanie were still fast asleep and now Finn was as well.
When the pair crossed to hallway to their home they headed straight to bed, sleep took the pair quickly, Rory on her side with her favourite pillow and Logan behind her stroking her bump. Tomorrow was a big day, she was going to talk to her grandpa and pop about the names they had chosen, Rory knew they would be honoured but she also didn't want the other males to feel pushed out, but anyone who knew her relationship with her grandfathers would surely see this coming. She may be a Huntzberger now just like her 2 boys but there would always be Gilmore and Hayden in their blood and now their names as well.
