Me: Hello and welcome to Warriors Trivia! It's a bit late but I did promise a black cat fact for Halloween! Welcome our guest host, Ravenpaw!
Ravenpaw: U-Um, thank you for having me kittypets. I-I'm not Rusty but I'll do my best.
Me: Great! Now what fact do you have to share with us?
Ravenpaw: *digs through a box and pulls out a paper* This one should do! Did you know that in black cats like me are considered good luck in many Asian cultures such as Japan and China? We're believed to bring wealth and chase away bad spirits. We're considered a good omen in fact if we walk by a twoleg.
Me: That's the total opposite of here in the Americas! :O
Ravenpaw: *purrs* Mother always used to call her "Lucky kit", drove my brother Dustpaw crazy.
Me: *purrs* Well lets hop in, this is easily going be one of my favorite chapters so lets get to it!
Chapter 5
Law Broken
~.~.~
Flowingpaw couldn't shake her thoughts of what she had seen earlier. That had been a ShadowClan cat on the other side of the border she had seen. She was anxious and decided to retrace her steps to the dried stream bed. She quickly froze as a breeze brought a stench on the wind, turning alert like a startled rabbit as her ears turned errect. The smell carried that boggy smell to it but mixed in was the bitter sweet smell of herbs she had grown to love about her friend, Spottedleaf. Spottedleaf she had grown to see as an older sister figure and in her free time often would go share prey with her after a long day. They had grown close, so this scent on the breeze made her curious.
Was this a medicine cat like Spottedleaf?
Or was it an intruder?
Still, Flowingpaw fell into a cautious stalking stride as she began to track the source. She desperately needed to find out. If this was indeed an intruder Bluestar needed to be notified right away. As she opened her maw for a better wiff it told her plenty of information to her keen nose. The stranger was a senior she-cat, but, sickness clung to it. She soon found pawprints in the earth that were large but they didn't sink in like a healthy cat's should. No it was a bit shallow in fact which lead her to think, "Is this intruder hungry?" before moving so her scent wasn't carrying towards the intruder's.
The scent vanished.
[Most Wondrous Battle Music Ever: Power Of Will]
Flowingpaw was puzzled as this rarely happened to the naturally born tracker. How could a scent just vanish like that? It was so weird. Her ear twitched at hearing rustling from behind just in time to just barely leap out of the way of a battle scarred sooty grey persian mix that attempted to tackle right into her. But some how the cinnamon tabby had managed to get out of the way in time thanks to her fast and nimble built.
"Not bad, you're a fast one aren't yeah, young apprentice."came the much older she-cat's voice. It was scratchy and rough with age.
Flowingpaw bared her fangs in her own defiance. This old she-cat's scent spoke volumes that she did not belong here in ThunderClan! But as she fought with the stranger she could smell the stench of illness coming off her breath and what was that in her eyes? This cat looked defeated and broken in those defiant orange orbs that lacked any gleam to them of a healthy cat.
"Please, I don't want to fight you if I don't have to-"
"Ha! You act too soft, is ThunderClan so desperate now that they have to recruit kittypets?"
Flowingpaw froze and began to tremble at those words. There it was...AGAIN! What did they clan born cats have against her heritage? It was pure discrimation in her eyes and moons of the taunts and ridicule and teasing was making her hurt burn to rage. Her emotions were like a watery torrent and she sprung at the older she-cat. The old, scarred she-cat gave a snarl of surprise at the younger one bawled into her with fangs and claws bared. The older cat easily tossed the young apprentice off her back. Flowingingpaw turning in the air to land on her snowy white paws with ease and grace as she hissed, "Get off our land intruder! This ThunderClan's territory!"
"Who's going to make Yellowfang, puny apprentice?"Yellowfang's lips rolled up into a snarl of defiance, revealing long yellow fangs. "I will hunt where I please, then I will leave...or maybe I'll stay awhile."
"Not gonna happen."spat Flowingpaw, still very much upset with the kittypet remark before.
Yellowfang could see the change in this seemingly meek she-cat. Oh, oh no this was no submissive mouse. This ThunderClan apprentice had down a 180 like a pissed off badger or weasel. And it showed as Yellowfang had trouble catching her but before long managed to get some blows in. Both young and old becoming a hissing and snarling rolling ball of fur as they fought as fur was sent flying. Yellowfang snapped at Flowingpaw, biting at the younger cat's leg. Flowingpaw yowled in painful fury as she retaliated and with claws raked against the older cat's shoulder, making Yellowfang let go with a hiss. Flowingpaw quickly ducked as Yellowfang went for her, a sound of teeth snapping shut at thin air right above her head made her squeak.
Too close for her comfort.
Quickly they collided again and this time Flowingpaw had managed to snapped her fangs into Yellowfang's leg. While Yellowfang snapped in rage at Flowingpaw's tail, which only succeed to make the younger of the two even more furious as she pulled free and kicked the older cat, sending her right into a thorn bush near by.

Flowingpaw laid on her belly, panting as she watched the struggling she-cat get out of the bush some how. Quickly the young apprentice jumped to her paws at the ready but froze when she saw the persian mix she-cat's leg give out from under her. "I didn't rough her up too badly did I?"thought Flowingpaw as her expression softened into concern. Carefully she went over.
"Don't look at me with those eyes!"hissed Yellowfang. "Finish me off already!"
Flowingpaw was shocked and dismayed at Yellowfang's words. She'd never killed another cat before, nor did she enjoy the very thought of it. But she remembered her conversation with Lionheart...

"L-Lionheart, I know battles are some times a real possibility here...b-but I don't want to kill!"mewled Flowingpaw, clearly distressed as she sat with the deputy.
Lionheart's wise eyes looked to where Greypaw and Ravenpaw were wrestling in the hollow. Clouds of sandy dust being stirred up in the process as Tigerclaw's cynical and critical eyes watched their movements as the dark tabby instructed them sharply. The golden tom's tail moved to rest on the cinnamon tabby's shoulder. "Your fear is understandable. Nobody in their right minds wants to kill young Flowingpaw. But some times you have no choice if it means your survival and the clan's own. It's even in our code."
"Really?"Flowingpaw looked up at the deputy she had come to look up to just as much as Whitestorm and Bluestar.
Lionheart nodded, "You are a kind and gentle young she-cat, Flowingpaw. As long as you don't take pleasure from killing you will not go astray."
Flowingpaw gave a warm smile, purring in agreement...

Flowingpaw simply stood in front of Yellowfang in a sort of quiet defiance of her own. Instead of doing what Yellowfang wanted she moved over and moved to help her to her paws and supoorted her. "What are you doing?"hissed Yellowfang.
"Quiet."spat Flowingpaw, helping the she-cat to the shade of a tree.
"You're an odd one. Showing such kittypet softness to your enemy."Flowingpaw's reaction to her words didn't go unnoticed by older she-cat."Ha, don't tell me ThunderClan's gotten so desperate their recruiting kittypets now?"
"I'm a ThunderClan apprentice training to be a warrior! And the clan isn't desperate!"spat Flowingpaw.
Yellowfang narrowed her eyes at the apprentice though her whiskers quivered in interest. She had clearly hit a nerve on the cinnamon tabby apprentice that stood in front of her pouting, feathery tail lashing. "Then finished me off already...you'd be doing me favor."Yellowfang requested again, looking away in a pained expression.
"No. You will stay here."huffed Flowingpaw, making Yellowfang stare in stunned silence as she watched her leave.
Once gone Yellowfang found herself smirking in amusement. Not many dared defy her like that and got away scott free. This ThunderClan apprentice had spirit and spunk. But she hissed, her ears pressing to her skull. Not many knew of her ability as an empath...her ability to feel the pain of others. She felt that apprentice's pain, though the brat didn't show it. She was shaken from her thoughts when a rabbit thumped to thr ground at her paws. Startled she looked up to see the smiling, worn out face of the apprentice.
"You gotta be hungry, you're skin and bones under that pelt."mewed Flowingpaw.
"What's the catch, kitty? I thought you went off to fetch your lil' warrior friends."Yellowfang sniffed.
"No catch, and do not call me that."Flowingpaw mewed. "Also, I may still do that." She gently shoved it towards the persian mix with her nose. "Unless you don't want it, then I can just-"
"Ah, n-no! I want it!"Yellowfang hastily spoke up and pulled it closer with a paw.
Flowingpaw winced a bit as she sat down and watched the old grey she-cat devour the rabbit. Yellowfang had done a number on her alright, she was sore all over. It was her sparing match at training all over again. "I should go see Spottedleaf after this, but how to explain what happened?"she thought as she groomed the blood out of her fur. She gulped as she felt her mouth water, an aching hunger starting to claw at her own stomach. Clearly not like Yellowfang's but still enough to make her struggle with herself as she watched. Not long after Yellowfang sighed contently as she gave herself a good wash. Not that a single grooming would get rid of the stench that clung to the elder's fur. It smelt like a rat that rolled in dog dirt and keeled over and died and had been left to rot in the greenleaf sun. "Ah, first fresh-kill I've had in days."
Ok that didn't help as she blushed under her fur at her stomach's complaints. Eagerly she eyed the remains-which wasn't much. She then went over and started to devour what remained. Her fight with Yellowfang had left her famished and her body demanded it's hunger be satisficed. Her tongue swiped over her lips; it had tasted delicious alright. She rarely got to eat rabbit as Longtail and the others that teased her would always snag it by shoving her out of the way, particularly that damn mangepelt, Longtail.
Yellowfang kept a close eye on the petite apprentice as she started to groom herself clean. "Better then that muck that twolegs feed our brethren, eh?" she mewed slyly, knowing full well it pushed the apprentice's nerves.
"Hmph."Flowingpaw simply ignored her rambling as she had heard it all before. But it still hurt like raking claws all the same.
"Get down!"Yellowfang hissed suddenly forcing her down low.
"What the heck!?"Flowingpaw hissed in annoyance before the scent hit her.
Ah crap...that was the scent of a ThunderClan patrol and it was heading straight for them! It didn't take long for the patrol to reveal themselves with the clan leader at the lead. It was then she realized...she just broke the code. Her first solo task and she had just broke one of their most important laws! Only one thought crossed her mind...
What had she done!?
To Be Continued...
