When I woke, my surrounding were strange. I was in a dank and dark stone cell with metal bars covering one whole wall. There was a bed, which I was laying on, several blankets, and a bucket in the corner. Outside the cell, stood two guards, one on each side, but they were looking into the cell from the opposite wall.

They looked like they were speaking to each other, but I couldn't tell what they were saying because I couldn't hear them. Something was still wrong with my ears.

I slipped my legs over the edge of the bed to stand, but when my bare feet his the cold ground I shrunk back a bit. I only then realized how cold I was. I was used to wearing pants and long sleeved shirts and bundling up under blankets when I slept even when the summer sun beat on the ground above the underground and turned it into an inescapable sauna. All to say, I was not appreciating the cold I was feeling, but stood up anyway.

As I stood, I felt like blood had suddenly rushed to my head and my vision was suddenly blurring. I tried to focus some of my healing power on my head to clear it up, but the spots in my vision got bigger and I felt my legs start to fall from beneath me.

I put out a hand, trying to grab onto the wall, but I still fell. I could hear a raised voice and foot steps so I tried speaking.

"Where the hell am I?" My voice was hoarse and my throat hurt, but I continued, "What did you do to me?"

My hearing had been going in and out, but now the very little that I could hear sounded muffled like I was underwater. I put a hand up to my head as I saw the floor rising up to meet my aching head. My breathing was becoming labored and my eyes were shutting.

"Captain!" I heard someone yelling. I couldn't see them.

Was Levi watching this? Was he amused? Were they torturing me?

I felt someone grab me by the shoulder and pull me up into their arms.

"I don't know where Kenny is," I huffed out, "He left me. Please make it stop."

I balled some of the person carrying me's shirt up in my fist as I begged.

"Please..."

I felt myself falling back into unconsciousness and that was the first time I noticed the bruising. My head had been too heavy so I let it hang and I could see the black, blue, and purple marks peppering my torso.

When I woke this time, I was in a much nicer place. I could hear and see and smell and breath just fine. Light poured in an open window and the warm draft that came along with it was quite pleasant.

Two or three blankets were piled high on top of me and the pillow beneath my head was soft and very tempting. I wanted to roll over and doze some more, but I couldn't allow myself to give in to the fatigue. I needed to find a way out of here.

"Don't even think of getting up." A voice said from out of nowhere.

I searched for the person and found a woman standing in the doorway of the room.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Section Commander Zoë Hanji of the Scouting Regiment. What's yours? Levi never told us." she said pretty enthusiastically.

"Erin." I said. She didn't need to know either of my last names.

"Nice to meet you, kid, so do you know why we brought you here?"

"To get information out of me." I frowned.

"What? Are you sure?"

"Why else, I refused to answer Levi's questions so why not bring me here for further more thorough questioning. Besides you already..." I cut myself off.

"I already what? Do you think we were going to torture a kid?"

"I'm not a kid!" I insisted.

"Shut up, brat." Levi snapped from the hallway behind Hanji and pushed his way past her into the room.

He sat in a chair beside me and waited.

"What?" I asked him.

"What were you babbling about last night? Did someone torture you in the past?" he stared directly into my eyes and I felt my hands begin to shake.

I rolled my head over so I was looking at the wall. I didn't reply.

"Hey!" Levi yelled grabbing my shoulder, "I asked you a question, answer me! Have you been tortured before? Is that what Kenny did to you?"

"No! I've never been tortured before yesterday, okay? You took my torture virginity! Are you happy you psycho!" I screamed at him batting his hands away as I sat up.

Sitting up turned out to be a bad idea.

I held a hand to my ribs as my breathing became labored again like last night and Hanji came over. She pushed Levi out of the way and made me lie down.

She prodded different bones in my ribcage asking what hurt and what didn't and finally came up with a diagnosis.

"You bruised your ribs, maybe a little of a break in one of them, nothing more than that. I don't recommend getting out of bed for the next few days. Now, back to this talk of torture, are you saying Levi tortured you while he was in the bar?" she seemed appalled.

"No. I was beaten up when I came too and I figured you must have tried to torture me for the information on Kenny. Am I wrong?"

"Yes, no one here tortured you, and who is Kenny, exactly?" Hanji asked.

"Shut up, four eyes, the two of us can have a talk about that later. For now, focus on getting better, kid." Levi pulled the covers back up over me and I frowned a bit, "And for your own sake don't try and leave until you're better. Got it?"

I felt a shiver go down my spine as his kind words did not match his face and tone of voice.

"Okay..." I trailed, clenching my shaking fists.

"Someone will come by with some food soon. When is the last time you ate?" Hanji asked.

"The two days before you kidnapped me." I said flatly.

"4 days?! What?" Hanji's dark eyebrows shot through the roof.

"Why didn't you eat that whole time before we came to get you?!" Levi demanded, "Was he starving you?"

"He who?" I played dumb.

"You know who! Kenny! Was he starving you?" he yelled.

"Levi, I think the kid has had enough for now, let's just-" Hanji started to say before Levi cut her off.

"You can leave but I need to finish this conversation." he turned on her and started yelling, "Answer me! Now!"

I felt myself shake with each word he spit out like venom. I felt my eyes begin to sting and water. I didn't want to cry, but I was sure if Levi kept pressing, I would. I couldn't look at him, so I pulled the covers up over my face.

"Erin!" he yelled wrestling the covers off my face and sinking back down and into the chair beside me when he saw that I was crying.

"Are you okay?" Hanji asked. I could only continue to cry as I thought back on all the horrible, unforgivable things that Kenny had put me through for the sake of 'making me stronger' and me fulfilling my end of our deal.

"Erin, what did he do to you?" Levi used the sheets to wipe the tears from my cheeks.

"Please, don't make me talk about it." I begged as my voice broke.

"But-"

"Okay" Levi cut Hanji off again "I'll be by with some food soon. You have any requests?"

"No, thank you." I took deep breaths as I tried to stop crying.

Hanji and Levi moved towards the door to leave the room, but he paused in the paused in the doorway and looked back at me, "You're a good kid, Erin, I'm sorry, I didn't know that Kenny had another kid sooner. I would have come right away."

With that he walked away and I spent the next twenty minutes letting the last three years of hurt, from the moment I left Mr. Hannes, Mikasa, and Armin, to right now out in the form of sobs and wails.

I never felt so vulnerable in my life. I had never believed someone so whole heartedly before. Levi knew, to some extent, what I had been through. I trusted that if he had known he would have come. His coming into my life was fated to happen, and even though the warmth in his tone still didn't match the look on his face, I knew that disgust and anger wasn't for me. It was for our shared abuser and abandoner.
