To say that Boruto was in shock at this news would be an understatement. I mean, the ANBUs? How his Hima had been able to navigate there, it was impossible to understand anything!
These ninjas were part of the elite. Working in the greatest anonymity, they were entrusted with missions more important than the others. And in their jargon, important often meant obscure ... The blonde's gaze went from surprised to gloomy.
-Dad made you enter such a world? You, his so young daughter? asked the elder in a voice that masked muffled anger.
Himawari stared at his brother, narrowing his eyes. He had always had a funny relationship with their father, both bittersweet. He adored him, of course, but often blamed him when it came to his role as head of the family. Especially for her rather than himself ... she sighed lightly when she saw that that side of him hadn't changed much.
-It's not that simple, you know, breathed the young girl. Believe me, he strongly opposed it at the start but-
-At the beginning?! burst the blond, so why? And who had this stupid idea, first?
-I'll tell you all about it, but you need to calm down, Boruto, the younger said in a surprisingly serious voice.
The young man stiffened. When she called her by her first name, which was very rare, she wasn't joking. He then listened to the story of what his sister had gone through in his absence.
Soon after Boruto left with Sasuke, Himawari was very bored at her house. Then one day, while searching the attic for something interesting to occupy, a dusty book caught her attention without her really knowing why.
She huffed on it to see the title and read: "Konoha Chronicles-Heroic Tales". Shrugging, she carried it away to sit in the living room to leaf through it. This book was quite old and recounted the life of the greatest ninjas in the history of the village, including the Hokage of course.
She lingered on that of the fourth, her grandfather. Especially his portrait. It wasn't the first time she had seen him, there was his picture hanging on the walls of the house and his face carved on the mountain after all. The girl rested her cheek on her palm, looking dreamy. How many could boast of being the granddaughter of such a handsome man?
Equally captivating was its history and its paraphernalia of techniques. Especially his signature jutsu, the Hiraishin that made him so famous ... He practiced it with those funny kunai, right?
After returning to the attic to look for the unusual weapons, Hima went to the garden and aimed at a trunk, following her instinct. And to her surprise, the kunai was planted right where she had targeted it. Hey, was it that easy for everyone? And what should be done next ...
-Himawari, what are you doing?
The named turned and saw her parents as well as Kakashi, who was visiting them. Her face lit up and she rushed over to them.
-Look, I found-
She didn't finish her sentence as she instantly disappeared to find herself back where she had thrown the kunai earlier. The three adults blinked, struggling to believe what they had just seen. But the young did not see their state since she was too busy wondering what had happened while scratching her head. However, she was quickly pulled out of her thoughts when she saw the expressions of the spectators, both stunned and ... moved?
-Something is wrong? the girl said cautiously.
-Hi ... mawari ... Naruto said in a trembling voice, how did you do?
-Who? Kakashi asked, frowning. Who taught you that?
-Uh, I just took a look at the book in the attic, she replied. Why was it bad?
-My darling, you are so wonderful! Hinata said hugging her daughter.
-It's true, Kakashi said with a soft gaze. You just achieved a real feat, believe me.
The young girl blushed a little.
-Thank you dad, mom! And to you too uncle.
They continued to chat, but no one noticed that anyone else had witnessed the scene ...
.
.
-Young Uzumaki ?! Impossible!
-Are you really sure what you are saying?
-Affirmative, Your Eminences. I saw it with my own eyes, said the ANBU who had spied on the previous scene.
He was a ninja under the orders of (very old) deans Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado. While doing his rounds, he had the chance to witness a historic thing: the rebirth of Hiriashin no jutsu. There was an effervescence in the room, no one could believe their ears.
-Well, she's Minato's granddaughter after all.
-So what? No one ever stipulated that this technique had anything hereditary!
-What other explanation is plausible? This girl is not supposed to know the basics of ninja art, how did she get there?
-Think what you want, I say that it is impossible!
- Unless this little girl is a genius. Not just talented, but the kind of child prodigy who only appears in every generation and makes history. As...
-Itachi Uchiha and me? a voice lurking in the shadows asked.
-Who is here? exclaimed the dean, show yourself!
Kakashi and Naruto appeared quietly, their eyes hard.
-You ... even though you're both Hokage, don't think you can barge into a private Council meeting!
-Private? Naruto repeated in a dark voice. Is there anything about MY daughter that you can only discuss while I'm away?
-Since you're here, that's good, said Homura. As Kakashi has just pointed out, your daughter has the profile of a genius, like him. But her skills must be too high to just place her in the academy, right?
-What do you suggest? asked the copy ninja.
-An integration in the ANBU, says Koharu.
-Excuse me?
Anyone could see that Naruto was doing his best to contain his anger. Her feet almost crashed to the ground, under the weight of her imposing aura. Everyone in the room swallowed. No one messes with the Seventh Hokage.
All except Kakashi and the two deans. They sniffed in disdain at this general reaction. Humpf, a kid in his thirties wasn't going to intimidate them.
-As expected, you lose your objectivity. If she hadn't been in your family, would you have opposed it like that?
-The whole village is my family, Naruto articulated. No child should have their place in ANBU, that's what Sandaime thought and I totally agree with him!
-Let's leave Hiruzen where he is. Only this way can your daughter's potential be fully exploited, and Konoha will benefit. And anyway ... you know who's got the last word, don't you? they said with shining eyes of deceit.
The blonde stormed away, followed closely by his former sensei.
.
.
-Naruto, tell me you're not thinking about it! Hinata exclaimed in dismay.
-I don't want to, obviously, the man whispered. The last two Hokage had returned to the Uzumaki residence. These elders ... Naruto respected them only for their status and age, but personally he had always been suspicious of them. He strongly doubted that his interest in his daughter was purely disinterested.
-Naruto, Hinata ... If you make your decision, I'm ready to vouch for her, Kakashi said.
The couple turned to the silver-haired man. Hinata was horrified, but was even more so when she saw relief in her husband's gaze.
-Wait ... so are you really considering taking this? This is out of the question! Finally, open your eyes! Can you really imagine her at the ANBU ?!
-I agree, don't worry. But unfortunately, there are situations that the hierarchy forces me to accept. Do you really think it doesn't break my soul just to think about that? Naruto asked his wife.
All three remained silent. Of course it was strange. The nature of the missions offered by the ANBUs required a great deal of maturity and ruthlessness from its members. So to imagine the jovial Himawari in such an environment ... Yes, that was a big contrast.
The latter had also left her room and had heard almost everything of the conversation. The ANBU ... wasn't this elite unit that Uncle Kakashi had joined in his youth? And could she go, could she?
Since she had read the old book, she had thought a lot. There were several great ninjas in his family, and his brothers Boruto and Kawaki were on their way to becoming as big as them, one having decided to temporarily leave what is dear to him to evolve on his own and the other who was progressing just as much ... And she in all this? What did she really want?
Many would like to make a name for themselves for fame and their egos, but becoming a ninja for that purpose alone seemed bad to the girl. Now, she didn't really have a goal ... but maybe she would find it on the way?
Finally, she made her presence known:
-I want to do it!
-Himawari? But...
-Don't worry Mom, it's just my decision. Please don't blame Dad or me, the girl pleaded.
-Honey, I don't blame you, breathed the beautiful Hyuga kneeling in front of her daughter. But I'm not sure you know what that entails.
-If you want, I'll teach you everything I know about that, Kakashi said.
-But remember we don't force you to anything, okay?
The girl smiled radiantly.
-Okay!
.
.
Thus, for almost two weeks, the disciple and the granddaughter of the Yondaime worked together in nature every day. The silver-haired man explained to her the basics of skills and what was required from the ANBU.
But he didn't know when was the last time he was so much in awe with a beginner, he usually so severe. It was simple: no matter what he could teach her, Himawari magically assimilated everything. As for the Hiraishin, nobody except her and Minato knew how to master it alone. So she trained as best she could on it and he guided her with what he remembered.
There was no doubt that this little one will make history for a long time ...
- Enough for today, rest.
-Thank you, Boruto's sister whispered, grabbing her bottle. Say, uncle ...
-Hn?
-Why did you volunteer to train me?
-Well ... since I retired I have a lot of free time, so I might as well take care of another hothead! he said, ruffling her hair. Also, you're on your way to special forces, which means your start to your ninja career will be very similar to mine. In this case, am I not the most able to be able to help you and understand you?
-True, Himawari replied thoughtfully.
-But above all, you look like him.
-Who?
-My sensei and your grandfather, the Fourth Hokage, Kakashi said while leafing through his book quietly.
The girl remained dumbfounded and directed her gaze to the stone faces.
-Come on, I'll pick you up-
- Wait, are you serious? Do you really think I look like him? Himawari asked with shining eyes.
-Yes, since I'm telling you, said the older one, a little lost in the face of this fanatic reaction. What, we never told you?
-No, it's the first time, usually they say I look like my parents ... Say, what did I take from him? His nose, his eyes, his smile? Or is it at the level of his personality?
-Not exactly, laughed the Rokudaime. But I would rather say that you have the same warm and reassuring aura.
Faced with this answer, the girl looked in wonder before smiling and settling down comfortably.
-Please tell me about him!
.
.
When she got home, she told her family about her day and then went up to bed. But first, she picked up her grandfather's picture and then went to bed and looked at him tenderly.
"The same aura ... eh?"
She smiled before hugging the portrait to her and falling asleep.
Boo!
The longest chapter since the beginning ... it took almost 4 hours to write it! I thought about putting all the flashback in one chapter but it seemed too long, so it will be 2 xD minimum even if some people are used to writing much longer chapters ...
So what do you think of "my" Hima? I need reviews, feed me reviews T_T
