Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Sand and Earth. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto and a few others do.

Kurotsuchi looked at Nao as he rubbed at his arms. He then brushed off the rest of his uniform.

He looked to the side. Nao looked at his blue tunic, red gloves and black boots and pulled up his hood with amusement.

"Should I point out you could get thrown out of office for your troubles?" Nao asked Kurotsuchi while pacing back and forth.

Nao sighed and rubbed at his hair. Nao then turned back to Kurotsuchi while the Kage rolled her eyes and shook off her fingers as she cracked them.

"You'd be surprised how much fun you have proving people wrong." Kurotsuchi stated while looking at her new bodyguard.

Kurotsuchi watched as Nao rubbed at his chin and then nodded. He looked to the side.

"Should I point out I'm a wanted criminal?" Nao asked and sighed before looking back at Kurotsuchi.

"You should know by now people allow the Kage to handle their own business." Kurotsuchi put in and smiled. "Besides, if they were going to throw me out of office? They would have used a much better excuse." Kurotsuchi stated while Nao hummed and nodded.

Kurotsuchi walked to the window in the room. Nao looked to the side once more and blinked.

"I think that's the least of our issues." Nao added which made Kurotsuchi nod.

"Indeed." Kurotsuchi stated and turned back to look at Nao. "The benefactor who hired you still wants my head when it comes down to it, don't they?" Kurotsuchi asked Nao who frowned.

It gave Kurotsuchi all the conformation that she needed. The Kage frowned as well before crossing over to the other side of the room.

"I can handle an assassin." Kurotsuchi put in while Nao smiled. "But I want to know who this person is. We need to stop them before they cause more damage than usual.

"If I knew who they were?" Nao added while crossing his arms. "I'd tell you. I want them taken down before they capture someone else and kill them." Nao added and cracked his knuckles.

"Then you should know enough about them to hunt them." Kurotsuchi stated before looking at the ceiling. "We need to pin them to the ground. We can't do that if their trying to cut us down from the shadows." Kurotsuchi added and sighed while she leaned back on a chair.

"I don't know much about them to do that." Nao put in while he smiled. "If I did? They would kill me. I know for a fact that they wanted a weapon. They couldn't get one so they ended up doing this." Nao stated and sighed before he rubbed at his temples.

The tension made everything run a mile a minute. He ended up saying nothing. There was nothing that he could really say.

Things ultimately came down to him needing to hunt down the men who had kidnapped him to begin with.

"I think that's a talk for next time." Nao stated while Kurotsuchi nodded and looked at her friend.

Kurotsuchi nodded while both warriors ended up looking at the warrior. Kurotsuchi said nothing and walked to the door.

"I'm going to deal with things more." Kurotsuchi said and walked out of the room.

Nao nodded while Kurotsuchi vanished once more. He sighed and looked around. Nao took a seat and rolled his eyes.

"If they can't be defeated so easily?" Nao questioned himself. "Then their end up spreading like wildfire. We need solid intel to take them down." Nao muttered and rubbed at his temples with annoyance.

(With Kurotsuchi)

Kurotsuchi walked into her room and kicked off her sandals. She sighed and looked around before rubbing her chin.

"There's so much to do and it's really damn annoying." Kurotsuchi stated which made her roll her eyes for a change. "There's far too much to do at the moment." Kurotsuchi added with a hum.

She knew very well people would want Nao executed. He wasn't well liked and the fact that he was a criminal? There would be people wanting background checks.

Kurotsuchi sighed with annoyance and walked to the window. She looked out at her village.

Things had changed massive when she took over as Kage. There had been massive military and science reforms. Her grandfather had been against a lot, but he had started to pull out of social interactions.

It made Kurotsuchi wonder if her grandfather had something whipped up. Kurotsuchi had nothing but respect for her grandfather. Still? She wanted to know what he had hidden from her and the rest of the village.

Kurotsuchi leaned on the window and rubbed at her eyes. She needed to get some sleep soon, it was the only way that she'd be able to get some relaxing.

Kurotsuchi said nothing and walked across the room. She'd go and speak to the council, make things get set up.
