After Jack walked back downstairs, troy, Gabi and Lucille were done cleaning. They went and sat at the table and began their conversation.
"So, Gabi what do you do now? The last time we spoke you were going down the science path. Did you keep going with that?" Lucille asked
"Gabi replied, "I was a lawyer. I was about to become a top-rated lawyer, but I had to leave my job about a year and a half ago."
""Oh, what happened? Did you change firms, or did you decide to go back to school?" Jack asked
"Gabi looked down and said, "Uh, no. I um, I had to leave the job completely to take care of my son. My ex-husband wanted nothing to do with me or my son, so I was on my own. I had to leave to focus on taking care of him full time."
"Troy placed his hand on Gabi's as she was speaking since he knew this was hard for her to say.
""Oh honey" Lucille said. "Where is Maria? I know she would not have let you quit your job."
"Gabi responded, "My Mom passed about 3 years ago, so I've been on my own since."
"Lucille got out of her chair and immediately went over to Gabi and pulled her into a huge hug. "I'm so sorry." She said
"Gabi and Lucille pulled away from the hug. Jack and Troy decided to talk on their own, so they headed out the back door. Gabi and Lucille stayed inside and talked more.
*Troy's POV*
"Wow, I can't believe all of that happened to her" Jack said
"I know. When I found out about it all, I was in shock too. I also felt guilty because it seemed that a lot of things happened because of me. She was alone for so long with no one to lean on." Troy said
"I am glad all of this happened to the two of you though. It seems like it was all a blessing in disguise because it led you back to one another." Jack said
"Yeah, I think so too." Troy said
"So, what are your plans in the next few weeks with Gabi?" Jack asked
"Well, I do want to try and get to know her son. I've met him briefly before at our reunion we had at Zeke's restaurant. But I have also been planning on getting on getting a house. To be honest, all of us have been talking about it since we've been at the apartment complex for so long and we don't want that to be forever. All of us are planning to get our own houses. We all want to be a few blocks away from one another so we can all still hang out and our kids can all hang out in the future. I haven't spoken to Gabi about it yet, but I want her and I to basically continue where we left off. It doesn't seem right to start over. I know it will all be slightly different with her son now, but I want her and I to go back to where we left off and figure out how to place her son in it." Troy said
"That sounds nice. It's about time all of you moved out of that complex. They are super expensive, and half of the residents are all of you. I also think it's safer for Gabi and her son to be in a house instead of an apartment complex especially with all the paparazzi around there and such. I'm glad that all of you are still such a tight knit group." Jack said
"Yeah, I'm glad too. Honestly, I've been so much happier now. Once I get back into practice though, it's going to be harder. I just want to be with her the rest of my life. I've already wasted so much time with her." Troy said
"I understand. It will be easier once her son is in school though." Jack said
"Yes, I know. Even though I'll want her to come to all my games and such, I really want her to get back to being a lawyer since she was forced to leave." Troy said
"That will have to be something the two of you talk about. If both of you are working, no one will be there for her son." Jack said
"That's true. I didn't think about that. We will definitely have this conversation." Troy said
*Gabi's POV*
"Wow, I can't believe how much you have been through on your own." Lucille said
"I know. But now that I have a son, I can't be selfish. I will go to the ends of the Earth to make my son happy. He has a whole life to live and is honestly more important than mine." Gabi said
"Lucille held Gabi's hand and said," Honey, that's not true. He needs you, and this world needs you. We need to get you back to your job. There's no way I can go back yet. He's not even ready to go to school yet." Gabi said
"Well, Jack and I would love to meet him and help watch him if you do need to on interviews and such." Lucille said
"But you and Jack have a young daughter to watch who I'm sure is a handful." Gabi said
"She's in school most of the day besides weekends of course, so having him here wouldn't be too bad." Lucille said
"Thank you, I really appreciate it." Gabi said with tears welling up in her eyes. Lucille gave her a hug and said, "Whatever we can do to help." They pulled away from the hug.
Gabi said, "I don't want to be a burden to Troy. We just got back together, and I don't want people thinking I'm only with him for the money."I don't think the press knows about you yet since it's off season, and besides, I don't think Troy is wanting to announce anything to the press." Lucille said
"Yeah, that's true." Gabi said. "I'm still nervous though."
"Honestly though, Gabi, let him take care of you. It's what he's wanted to do since he met you. We were really upset when he broke up with you as we thought you would be together forever, and when he brought Candice around, I literally cried. I only supported them because of Troy. I wanted him to be happy, but I knew he wasn't. He put you through a lot, so let him take care of you now. Let yourself trust him again like nothing ever happened. I don't know what his plans are, but I do know that his plans will involve you. He's definitely not going to make that mistake again." Lucille said
Gabi looked at Lucille and smiled. It felt great to talk to her because she was always like a second mom to me when Troy and I were together. Gabi's phone started to buzz, and I quickly picked it up.
"Hello?" Gabi said.
"We hate to rush you on your date, but it's 11PM. We have to work tomorrow." Sharpay said
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry, Sharpway We will be there right away. We completely lost track of time." Gabi said
"Was that Sharpay?" Lucille asked
"Yeah, her and Taylor are watching Liam, my son, and I didn't realize it was this late. They both have work tomorrow, so we must go. Thank you so much for having us, and I'm hoping we can come back soon." Gabi said
Gabi ran off to grab Troy and both left
Troy drove us back to the complex. We immediately went to my place to relieve Sharpay and Taylor. We thanked them both and they left.
"Would it be okay if I stayed to talk?" Troy asked
"Sure, but not too much later though. Liam wakes up really early in the morning." Gabi said
"Okay, I promise I'll be quick." Troy said
"Okay." Gabi said
"I was wondering if we can start off our relationship where we left off. I know you have Liam now, but I feel like we were so far into our relationship that there's no need to start over. Plus, I feel like we have caught up on a year's worth of each other's lives with just 1 year that we need to catch up on." Troy said
"Hmmm... I feel like that's a good idea. There's no use of us starting over. To be honest, today when we went to your parent's place, it felt like old times. It didn't feel new and I felt completely comfortable. I just don't want you to feel like I'm a burden and you must be with me because you feel bad for me. I want you to do this because you want to." Gabi said
"I've always wanted this. My feelings for you have never changed and they never will." Troy said
"Gabi smiled and looked at him. "I want you to properly meet Liam tomorrow. I know it's a big step, but I feel it has to be done." Gabi said
"I would love that honestly. When I first saw him at the reunion, I wanted to meet him right away. He seems like a good boy and loves being around people." Troy said
"Yes, he is a good boy and LOVES being around people. He likes the attention." Gabi said.
Troy laughed. "Also, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you, but all of us have been talking about buying houses and leaving this complex. We've been here for so long and it's not worth it to pay the rent anymore when we can just get our own places. We have been talking about living blocks away from one another since there's no way we can find houses next to one another. I really want you and Liam to live with me. I will make sure you are involved with the whole house hunting process. We can be in a gated community or at a house with a long driveway and gate so we can have privacy without paparazzi." Troy said
Gabi smiled and looked up at him. "I would love to come live with you. I really want you to meet Liam first, and for the 3 of us to hang out more before we move in." Gabi said
"Yes, for sure. Obviously, we won't find anything yet. I'm going to write in our group chat tomorrow that we want to start house hunting. We all have the same real estate agent so it will be easy to find what we want together." Troy said
"Honestly, I'd be happy wherever we live as long as we are together. It's been way too long, and I've waited for this for a while. I'm ready for whatever we must face next. I know we just got back together but I trust you like I did when we were together.' Gabi said
Troy smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. I missed you a lot and I'm so glad we were able to find one another again. I'm so ready for this and I can't wait. I do want you to get back into being a lawyer though. If you do, I can talk to our team coaches and company and see if we can have you and your firm represent us all." Troy said
Gabi laughed. "Well funny thing, the company I worked for actually used to manage the players on your team. I really do want to go back but I'm scared and nervous they won't want me. Lucille said she would babysit Liam, but I don't want him to think that we just work all the time." Gabi said
"Why don't you give them a call tomorrow, and see what they say? Maybe they can negotiate something where you are there when I'm in off season, and see if you can help represent our team, and take on any cases that need to be taken when you have time?" Troy said
"When did you become so insightful?" Gabi said giggling
Sorry for not posting in a few years! I forgot I had written a story! I just got back into Fanfiction and realized I had a story written so I wanted to continue writing it!/p
