Chapter 8 : The Cheat Potion Maker

Reimu felt a sense of foreboding when Kimiko Toujo closes the door as she left.

"What is that?"

She stands up as she felt that something bad is going to happen.

After having some time to think, she decided to follow Kimiko Toujo.

But she was stopped when the door was smashed open and nine hooded guys entered this place.

"Thrash this shitty place!"

If Toujo is the only one in this place, she would have frozen in shock about what is happening while letting the guy to smash her guild.

But this is Hakurei Reimu. And she was used to sudden disturbances like this.

So just after the guy was done ordering that, Reimu made her move.

Two feet meets the face of the hooded guy on the front and he blew out of the entrance. He hits the wall of a house that was in front of this guild before slumping on the ground.

The other guys were surprised about that. Then they look at Reimu who was now standing on top of the table.

"Hey, what's the big idea?"

Reimu was feeling annoyed about this guy. Though she was also feeling worried about her Guild Master.

The other guys stare at her for awhile before they glared at her.

"Bitch!"
"You dare hurt our pal!?"
"Yer askin for a beating!"

The remaining eight rushes towards her.

But she doesn't gave them the chance to get closer to her as she made a barrier.

"Urghk!"
"Beh!?"
"Gah!?"

And the two at the front hit their faces on the suddenly appearing barrier while those at the back flattened the two at the front.

And then Reimu throws a talisman on their feet. This talisman shines for a bit before making a loud explosive sound.

All of them screamed as they all flew out of the door and lose consciousness.

Then Reimu opens the door while she was patting her hands with an annoyed look.

"That's what you get for messing with me"

She muttered before looking at the direction where the guild master went.

"I need to make sure"

With that she flew to the sky and go on that direction to find the guild master.

Which she immediately find after a moment.

"Toujo!?"

Reimu was shocked when she saw her guild master lying on the ground. Her eyes are red and pointing upwards while her half open mouth have blood pooling out of it. Her whole skin is becoming incredibly pale and some of her skin, starting at her right shoulder was turning purplish.

"Poison!?"

Reimu immediately have a hunch as she saw the situation of Kimiko Toujo.

This is the first time she saw someone dying from something like this again. It's been too long since then.

Though she was somewhat use to it, her resistance against this thing became weak due to not being exposed to this intense scene for a very long time.

She got too used at Gensokyo, where the spell card rules was still obeyed till this day.

"... Right, I need help"

Doing the first thing she thought of, she carried the incredibly cold and stiff body of Kimiko Toujo and flew back to their guild base. She doesn't care even when Toujo's half is soaked in blood.

The other people just watches at the sideline, already knowing what happened. They are just looking at the body of Kimiko Toujo in pity while thinking that it was inevitable.

This is how most weak guilds fall after all.

When Reimu came back to the guild, she quickly go inside Toujo's room and laid her on the bed.

"Guhughk!"

Toujo coughed up more blood in her mouth, staining her face in blood as she was laying on the bed face up. Her breathing was growing erratic though her consciousness is not even there.

Then she convulsed.

"Gah! I need to do something!"

Reimu can't think of anything else. She was thinking of using her powers but she doesn't even have anything that can heal.

She was thinking of taking the help of a certain lunarian doctor in her world but she felt that it would be too late before she came back.

"Then what should I do?"

Reimu scratches her head in annoyance while also panicking about this situation.

Then she heard someone opening the door at the other room.

She quickly goes out of Toujo's room to look for it and saw that it was the back entrance that was opened. From there is an unfamiliar girl who have a sharp look.

This girl is the third visitor of this guild from another world, Nagase Kaoru. Or just Kaoru.

Kaoru felt going back here on a whim. She was just thinking that she will see the guild leader again when she saw Reimu who was staring at her with a piercing stare.

"... What?"

"I don't know why but I have a hunch that you can help me"

"Wait what!?"

Kaoru doesn't have a chance as Reimu suddenly drags her to Toujo's room and let her see about the situation.

"Can you do something about this? This girl is dying"

"Huh!? Can't you do something about it?"

"If I can, I should have done so at the start!"

Reimu was feeling annoyed at this girl who was looking at her with an equally annoyed expression.

"Right. What is it to me?"

"... Seriously?"

Reimu felt appalled about Kaoru's attitude. There is a person dying and she was still looking for something in exchange of saving her.

Kaoru felt that it was not that bad.

"What? You think I do a charity? I won't just go around and save everyone I see on my way. I will do what I want!"

That's what Kaoru truly believes.

She felt that Reimu was telling her to heal Toujo like it was a done deal. She doesn't like being used at all.

She wants to do things in her own initiative. Not something forced out of her.

While they are glaring at each other, Toujo's convulsion stopped. Her breathing was very audible now but it looks like she was short of breathing.

"Toujo!"

Reimu became panicked and immediately goes besides her. Though it's just a short time, she sees the girl as her acquaintance.

She doesn't want to see this someone who is taking care of her to just die like that.

Kaoru just watches the guild leader lying on the bed, coming on the verge of death. She sighed to herself before moving forward.

"Move!"

She shouted but Reimu just looks at her with an annoyed look.

"What do you want now?"

"I'll save her so just move aside"

"Huh?"

Reimu then look at her in confusion, though she steps aside to let Kaoru get besides the guild leader.

"Just remember this. I am doing this because I wanted to. So don't go thinking that you persuaded me"

Kaoru explained as she created a potion out of midair.

Then she poured it on the right shoulder and then spreads it all over her body. While this is happening, she made another potion, this one colored in yellow, and pouted it slowly in her mouth.

After that, she make a blue potion and poured it all over her body.

"There, all done"

The purplish color on her skin was slowly retracting to it's source like a rewinding video before it slowly vanishes on her right shoulder. Her very pale skin returns to it's lush and peachy color. Her breathing is finally stable and her eyes are finally closed with a peaceful expression.

"Oh, thanks"

Reimu said simply at Kaoru's back.

"Then I'll be going" Kaoru said as she turns towards the door out of this room. Before she opens it though, she spoke. "When she wakes up, tell her that I will be back later to talk about an offer"

"Ugh fine!" Reimu said with an annoyed tone.

She doesn't want to become an errand girl.

Kaoru doesn't care as she goes out.

Though Kaoru tried to open the door to the front entrance, she can't open it. It's like it was only a decoration of a wall and not a door at all.

'So, maybe it won't open because I am not a member of this guild?' That's what Kaoru thought as she gave up and goes back to her world through the back entrance.

It all started on middle school.

I was kidnapped and was used as a ransom. While I was in captivity, I was always in blindfold and my hands tied behind my body while feet are bound at each other.

When they feed me, they do it forcefully. Even if I am choking and telling them to stop, they won't do it.

Though we don't go all the way, they will touch me all over my body and even strip me naked. They even took pictures of me like that.

After three days, they were taken into custody and I was rescued.

Though it was traumatizing, I tried to be strong.

I tried to, but my parents became overprotective since that day.

I was held back a year because they don't want me to go out of my house anymore. They preferred to let me stay at my house forever so that I would be safe.

My family is rich so all the things I need to live is taken care of. A lot of things were given to me so I can become busy with it.

But I hate that life. I don't want to stay at my home. I want to go outside and prove to them that I can take care of myself.

So after a whole year, I manage to force my parents to let me out and attend school again.

They did so and I manage to graduate middle school and go to the highschool.

And then another incident happened again. It was the nail in the coffin that resulted in me becoming a shut-in.

I was kidnapped once again. This time from an old guy.

He was a pervert who desired my body. While I was just going back to my house, he uses something in his hand because I felt weak as he covered my nose with his hand.

And then I was raped. My virginity taken just like that.

After using me for a whole day, I was stab by a knife in the stomach. I can still vividly remember the pain I felt after being exhausted on the bed.

It took some hours before the guy was found by the police and was taken into custody. I was rescued once again, though I was taken into the hospital. I even need to undergo blood transfusion because of it.

Miraculously, I survived.

Unfortunately, my parents became paranoid. They locked me up in my house.

And because of that experience, I even felt that it was fine to be in my house. Though I want to go outside and experience anything from there, I also felt that my parents are right. I just need to stay at my home and be safe.

But I can't just do nothing. I feel guilty as I saw my dad and mom doing their best to take care of me. They are going to work as I was left on home without doing anything.

So I tried the only thing I can think of to help them. I did the house chores, took care of cooking, I even do the laundry. I always bonded with them and we always watches the shows that they want. Sometimes, even some anime that I came to like as I became accustomed to living inside the house.

But my guilt won't let up. I am not doing enough. I am burdening them.

I am useless.

I want to be useful. Even if it's not for my parents, I want to be useful.

I don't want to be useless. I don't want to be someone who just stays at home just to be safe. I hated this life. I hated feeling like this!

I will be useful to them!

A/N

Yeah, that's a cliffhanger.

So there is a flashback from there and seeing what happens on the last, while it was intended to be a comedy, that also hits straight to Kimiko Toujo's insecurities.

Right, she became a shut in not by choice, but she was forced to do so. She felt she was so useless that she became so guilty about it.

So she wanted to become useful. Seeing on the past chapters, you can notice how she proactively do things. She wants to be of used as many times as possible.

So that's one of the main traits she have as a character when I designed her. It's a different type of a shut in.
