A/N: Sorry for bringing all of you this Chapter a little later than you would have hoped for. Part of me wants to make up some kind of interesting excuse as to why I'm a little late to the party. But in the end the truth is a lot more simple to explain... Sometimes I'm just a little too lazy.

That and I was trying to finish up the final Chapter of A Needed Quest before November started. Huh, look at that. Looks like I was able to come up with an excuse after all. At least this one is the actual truth.

Hopefully you all know the drill by now. Please leave me a Review so I know what you think of the Story or just this particular Chapter. I'll also advise you to Follow the Story so you're alerted whenever I post a new Chapter.

In this Chapter we'll get to see Javik interact with Parvati, my favorite character in Outer Worlds. I hope my representation of Javik and Parvati are accurate to their actual characters. Had to replay the games to study them over again. Let me know what you guys think.

Chapter 7: A Helping Hand

Lilya can be a rather stupid individual at times. Sending people on pointless missions that end up getting them killed, thinking that a few of the Board's people were actually Aliens in disguise, and the list never seems to have a proper ending.

This incredible amount of stupidity only continues to increase when she has had far too much to drink in a short period of time. Aside from the obvious beliefs on the current state of the Board, that was one of the few things everyone on the Groundbreaker could agree on.

Her act of leaving a newly discovered Alien with weapons that could endanger every single civilian on the Groundbreaker only managed to strengthen this popular belief on the position of her intelligence. How she managed to keep Sublight under control was a question many people would ask themselves. They never were able to come up with a plausible answer that didn't involve lying and silencing a few noisy people.

Parvati was relieved to hear that no one had been killed or seriously injured when trying to disarm their new and uninvited guest. According to a few of the Doctors stationed on the Groundbreaker, it had been in some kind of state of shock and was trying to desperately make sense of all of its surroundings. At least that is the best theory they were able to come up with. The truth was probably a little more complicated than that.

It was now being contained down in the lower levels of the Groundbreaker, under careful guard by several Sublight employees. It was the least they could do, seeing as it wouldn't have even gotten out in the first place were it not for their employer.

Now the obvious thing was going to have to happen. Someone was going to have to try their best to talk with the possibly ancient Alien and figure out who they really are. More importantly what they are. Not a task many people wanted to sign up for. But much like any other job, someone was going to have to do it.

One of the few people to volunteer themselves was of course Lilya, who felt she was entitled to get to start the first conversation with the Alien because she was the one to discover it in the first place. However the rest of the Groundbreaker, including a few of those in Sublight, voted for Parvati to have the once in a lifetime honor. She was hesitant at first, but eventually she found the courage to accept the distinct offer.

She made sure to leave all of her weapons behind when going to talk with it. No point in giving it one more reason to distrust them. A few guard offered to accompany her into the room as a precaution. Parvati told them to stay put, the cause being the same reason she didn't bring any weapons.

With everything as it should be, Parvati entered the locked down room. She was now face to face with a member of another intelligent species. That was something she never thought she would be able to brag about. All of the other species only seemed to want to feast on her every time they caught sight of her.

A change of pace was pretty relaxing. The Alien was restrained to a metal chair, tied up with a few chains and some rope. Aside from the shape, its appearance was very distinctive from Parvati's own people. For starters it had two pairs of eyes, each eye having two pupils. It possessed only three fingers on each hand, while having only two spaced toes on its feet. The most abnormal thing about it was definitely the head, which seemed to be covered in a layer of extra skin or some kind of armour.

Sitting down in a chair across from Lilya's newest discovery, Parvati tried to search for the best words to use. All the while the thing didn't take its eyes off of her. Breathing in for a few seconds, then out quickly, she began the conversation that would hopefully end with information being exchanged.

''Hello.'' She said, getting no immediate reply in exchange. It was the most basic way to start an introduction. But it's also the most friendly method. Then again there was no way for her to know if the thing could even understand what she was saying. Either way communication is necessary is situations like this.

She made sure not to be rude and waited a few seconds for a potential reply before continuing to speak any further. ''Well first I just have to say that... Okay how should I put... Gosh this is so freaking weird and cool at the same time! I'm still having a hard time believing this ain't another dream. Are you actually a real living Alien?''

The question made all four of the Alien's eyes widen. ''As opposed to what, a fake dead one?'' He somehow managed to speak in perfect English, a language that shouldn't be known to someone not from Earth or one of the people to settle in Halcyon. His voice was deep and came with an accent that sounded African.

''You can understand what I'm saying?'' Parvati asked while changing her seated pose. Unlike when they first spoke she received a reply in the form of a nod. ''But that doesn't make any sense. Look at you, you're clearly an Alien, no offense in saying that. But where did you learn to speak English?''

Before saying anything back, the Alien also tried adjusting itself in the chair. But thanks to all of the bindings around him that was easier said than done. ''Each of my people were gifted with the ability to read others in a matter of seconds.'' Parvati made sure to pay close attention to every word he said. Even if a bit of it didn't sound entirely possible to someone like her. ''While one of the Primitives tried to rid me of my weapons, I manged to read another one that was already attacking me.''

Attack was kind of a harsh word to use. It was more along the lines of self defense. ''Well you didn't give them any other choice. And what do you mean by Primitives? Is this the part where you tell me you came from somewhere in the future?'' She began to laugh at her own joke.

''Yes.'' He answered in a serious tone, causing Parvati to stop laughing and instead put on a highly concerned expression. It quickly faded away when she noticed that the Alien was now laughing at her. He knows some good jokes, that's a good thing to take note of.

After calming down from his own laughing, he began to explain everything. ''Quite the opposite. The one who first discovered me, Lilya, managed to find my Life Pod still intact. However I don't know how it came to be here. Were you able to recover any of the other pods?''

Shaking her head, Parvati delivered to him the awful news. He slowly began to look down to the floor. It was clear he wished to move on from the sensitive subject. ''We... I am a Prothean. You may call me Javik. The pods were meant to hide us from the Reapers until they returned back to dark space. There were thousands of us meant to rise again for the coming empire. But now I am the only one left. The last voice of the Protheans.''

Once again Parvati's eyes widened. ''You say you had to fight with the Reapers before?'' Javik nodded, causing her to stand up and walk towards him. That was all she needed to hear in order for him to gain her trust. She began to remove the restraints keeping him to the chair.

The only other thing that had been removed from the pod was some kind of weapon. No one on the Groundbreaker was able to figure out how to get it to work, but they could tell that making their own was well beyond the capabilities of their own technology.

Parvati was originally meant to use the weapon as a type bargaining chip if Javik wasn't willing to cooperate with them. But now she had a great reason to trust him. The Reapers will eventually find their way to the Halcyon System. It's only a matter of time.

Handing the Prothean his weapon back, she asked him if he would care for another go at the Reapers. ''With the Captain gone Halcyon needs someone who knows anything about the Reapers. I guess that someone can be you, if you're willing to give us a helping hand?

Javik held the weapon as though he had never parted with it. ''The Reapers are back?'' Parvati nodded, causing Javik to sit back down. His head was still throbbing from the rude awakening he had received. ''You will fight the Reapers?'' Parvati nodded again. ''Then we must get prepared.''
