After standing for what felt like a perfect eternity we then went and sit down back in our living room; this time we sat slightly apart. Even though we were sat in close proximity this was enough, we didn't always have to be in each other's arms to be able to support each other through this hard and trying time.
It didn't take long before Jacob and Renesmee came looking for us; when we both looked up at the pair of them we both meekly smiled. They asked how our conversation with our family went and we said that they are concerned that Jane is wandering around; and that they were speculating which other Volturi members were with her.
Thankfully before we could get too close to Alice's new vision Edward offered to make them lunch, however there must have been something in the look in my eye. As when Renesmee followed her father into the kitchen Jacob threw me a look, which told me that he wanted to speak to me on my own.
"Bells?" he advised as he stood in front of me.
"Yes Jake?" I smiled up at him.
"Can we have a word?" he questioned. "In private?" he quickly added as he threw a nervous look over to the kitchen.
"Of course" I nodded; as I stood up. "Edward!" I called.
"Aha?" I heard him answer.
"Me and Jake are just going to have a word outside" I answered and I watched as Renesmee quickly looked over to us, with concern etched onto her face. Me and Jacob both threw a reassuring look over to her; before we both turned and left the cottage - with both of us not knowing how our conversation was about to go.
"So-" Jacob began as when we were a short distance away from the cottage.
"So?" I repeated as I looked up at him to see concern etched onto his face.
"What did the other's say?" he questioned as we started to walk in a large circle around our cottage.
"Well-" I began as I started to think about mine and Edward's conversation with our family. "Emmett thought it was pretty sweet that you nearly caught her" I teased and I could stop a large grin spread across my face when I heard him laugh at this. Over the years Emmett's relationship with the wolves and Jake had got a lot stronger - yes things were more calmer between us all. It just seemed that Emmett was more like a brother to them; at times I still found it strange how it could go from one extreme to another - apparently that is what the tight bond between a wolf and his mate can do. It now meant that we were bound to the packs, and they to us. All previous tension and animosity seemed to just slowly leave Forks - which was something I am very much thankful for.
"I thought he would think that" he chuckled further.
"Yes" I nodded. "I love how you get on now" I stated, as I have said so many times in the past.
"I know" he smiled. "But that is down to you and Nessie" he advised and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at his nickname for my daughter. Yes I sill disliked it; but there was nothing I could do about it now. Renesmee liked Jake calling her it - to my dismay. "Otherwise we would still hate them" he told me.
"So you love Rosalie?" I teased further.
"I wouldn't go that far" he muttered before he pursed his lips together. "She's tolerable" he advised, which caused me to laugh. Since Renesmee was born Rose and Jake had to learn to get along with each other - given that both of them played very big parts in Renesmee's life. There was tense points, of course there was, but was the final deal breaker is when Renesmee was just six years old. She told the pair of them that they needed to stop arguing; she loved both of them equally and she hated to see them argue. This seemed to soften Jacob's and Rosalie's relationship - as they both doted on Renesmee and wanted to give her everything and anything that she wanted.
"After that Jasper then brought up why Jane is here-" I began again, changing the subject. "Who is with her" I added and he quickly looked down at me. "She never travels on her own" I explained.
"I see" he noted. "Has Alice seen anything?" he enquired and I quickly froze. I quickly tried to regain my composure; but unfortunately for me Jacob knew me well enough to know when I was hiding something. I just hoped he wasn't about to get Alice's vision out of me - heaven only knows how he would react to it!"
"So she has?" he stated. "What?" he urged.
"Nothing that you would need to be worried about" I dismissed, hoping that he wasn't going to push me any further on it - even though I knew he was going to.
"Bella really!" he whined. "I know when you are lying" he reminded me bluntly.
"I'm not!" I exclaimed.
"You are!" he insisted. "Don't hide things from me!" he warned me. "This attack is against me, the packs" he chanted. "Nessie!" he fired at me, and I knew why he was saying that - he was trying to Renesmee to get me to talk. I hated when he did this, he may be her boyfriend - but I was always would be her mother! "Don't be reckless and not tell me!" he snapped as he bawled his fists up.
"Jacob-" I started.
"No Bella!" he exclaimed cutting me off. "Please" he begged. "I know you are hiding something" he insisted.
"Alice hasn't seen anything else" I advised, hoping that this was going to reassure him.
"Then why are you lying?" he fired back at me.
"I am not" I told him. "Alice has only seen visions about Jane; and I have a hate relationship with her" I stated. "I don't like her being so close" I sighed sadly as I looked down to the floor. "Carlisle wants this dealt peacefully" I advised as I started to remember what Carlisle had said; and I was reminded of his request about meeting up with the packs.
"I see" Jacob said. "Well if she keeps coming onto our land I don't know how that is going to work" he advised.
"Yeah" I nodded. I knew that this was the truth; if Jane and whoever she had decided to bring with kept coming onto the packs land the packs would have no choice but to act. "He wants to meet with the packs" I advised.
"I'll set that up" he smiled. "Maybe for tonight?" he suggested.
"Thank you" I replied as I meekly smiled up at him.
"Bella?" he said.
"Yes?" I answered.
"I know that you are hiding something from me-" he answered. "But I know better than to push you" he smiled warmly. I went to open my mouth to say something but stopped when I heard my husband's voice call.
"BELLA!" he shouted. "JACOB!" he added. "DINNER IS READY!" he shouted.
"Food is ready" Jacob grinned.
"For you maybe" I chuckled.
"Hey not my fault I'm normal" he teased as he playfully nudged me with his right shoulder.
"Hmph!" I puffed before pulling a funny face at him, which caused him to chuckle at me. "Race you back!" I joked and quickly span around and started running back towards our home.
"Hey!" I heard Jacob exclaim before I heard movement which told me that he was running at me. As I started to head by to my husband and daughter I started to think about the conversation that I had just had with Jacob; yes I was very thankful that it was cut short by Edward but it just brought a new problem. I knew that as Jacob now knew there was something on my mind he would be paying even more attention to every look and word to try and figure out what what bothering me. Yes this had bought me some time, which I was grateful for - but how much, was the question.
