Jealousy Lingers
.Chapter 16 – The Couple Secrets.

The young woman placed her cutlery down onto her half-eaten plate and then picked up her napkin to lightly dab down her glossed lips. She then gazed her emerald green eyes at her fiancee who was just sat there swirling his glass of red wine. It concerned Katie to see that Kai had once again refused to eat his meal for the third day on the trot.

"Would you like me to have my staff bring you something else?" She asked and placed the napkin down onto her empty plate. "My chef does an exquisite stake."

The dual haired blader shook his head and continued to keep his crimson eyes focused on the swirling beverage in his glass.

"Hm." Katie was now squinting and she linked her hands together under the table in her lap. "You don't eat very much for a man who has the body of a warrior. It's concerning."

Again, he didn't acknowledge her. Instead, he just pushed away the alcoholic beverage and then turned his head over to the sound of the dining room doors opening. It was the servants who had arrived to clear up the table.

"Where can I find something stronger?" Kai asked the young maid who was in the middle of picking up his plate. "Like some vodka or whiskey?"

A sweatdrop formed in the corner of the maid's forehead and she forced a smile on her lips. She clearly was nervous about answering this, especially as it was a clear dig at Katie. Not many people had the guts to insult the young fiery red-haired woman in the comfort of her own luxury home.

"Allow me to pour you a glass, sir." She stated and then rushed out of the dining room to avoid Katie's stone-cold glare.

"Glass?" Kai rolled his head, "Just bring me the bottle with an empty glass."

A huff flared out of Katie's nostrils. Her patience was running thin with her ignorant fiancee. But the polite maid just nodded her head and then disappeared out of the room like a child who was eager to escape detention.

"Okay, fine. But I need you to do something for me before we go our separate ways for the evening. Me and Tyson had briefly encountered one another, I strongly believe that Tyson has my phone and I would very much like it back." Katie reached down to the ground and picked up her branded handbag. She reached inside to pull out a mobile phone and then tossed it to Kai's space. "Tell him I want it back within the hour or I will be calling the police."

She had finally won his attention. A confused expression filtered through his bored expression as he picked up the phone in his hands to see that a few messages addressed to Tyson were now visible on the home screen. He almost wanted to smile when he saw the 13-year-old champions posing behind his text messages.

'Here's Tala's number, now we are even.'~

"It's strange to see that you were the last person to text him." Katie pointed out bitterly, "And it's also disgusted me to know that Tyson hasn't returned my phone. If he's opened it to read anything, I will also be pressing charges."

Unbothered by the threats, Kai tossed the phone back to Katie and shrugged at her. "Clean up your own mess and stop throwing out threats like a spoilt brat" He coldly retorted with no sense of remorse in his tone.

Katie bit down on to her tongue when the maid returned with Kai's request, she placed it in front of him on the table and then rushed back out of the room to avoid the suffocating tension that was seconds away from turning into an explosion.

"You really are something." Katie hissed with a squint on her face, "It's almost like you have forgotten what our true values are."

Back to a dormant state, Kai poured himself a glass of whiskey and let Katie's voice enter one ear and leave the other. He placed the glass to his lips and began to think about how Tyson would react if Katie did finally approach Tyson again.

'He'd probably be bitter and spiteful. I suppose I better resolve this issue to avoid the earful from Katie.'

"If you carry on acting like this, I am going to call off everything and you can explain to your family why the business has closed down." Katie picked up her glass of wine and then downed it viciously. "Besides, I don't think Voltaire would survive a week in prison, do you, Kai?"

Before the liquid could trickle into his mouth, Kai had pulled the glass away and shot Katie a wide-eyed glare. His pupils had narrowed and his muscles were pumped, stretching his skin along with them.

"You wouldn't-"

"I would if it meant that I could escape this hell." Katie picked up her glass of wine and then sipped it, "Fetch me my phone and sort out your end of the wedding plans before I throw my hands up in the air and marry the true love of my life, my ex-boyfriend. The man who I had to surrender to honor my family's agreement."

Kai growled and slammed his whiskey glass onto the table. "You're not the only one who has sacrificed in this disaster. Now give me the phone." He demanded. The captain was finished with this discussion, he wasn't prepared to overdose on regret today.

After she had finished her glass of wine, Katie picked up the phone and then threw it back into Kai's open palm.

"Thank you." She forced out in a humble tone, still, mirror the same cold expression at her fiancee. "And Kai, if he has opened any messages on that phone, I will know."

"Pft, that's not my problem." Kai obviously didn't care, he placed the phone into his pocket and then pulled out his car keys from his other pockets. "You can take that up with Tyson yourself."

Katie huffed again and then closed her eyes to hide the hurt that was swelling up in her emerald globes, "Whilst you're doing that, I will call my uncle to explain why I have missed some of his calls. The Prime Minister is a busy man."

"Aren't we all?" Kai mocked and walked out of the room. "Tyson, I'm going to kill you."

"So, me and Tala are now being shipped by fangirls." Tyson's eyes almost exploded when he watched Kenny scroll through the news outlets. "Wow, the people took photos of when me and Tala. It looks like we both are about to just pass out."

Max nodded his head, "You have all the fun, Tyson." He stated, making everyone but the champion laugh.

"I didn't realise 'kissing your rival' was fun, Max." Tyson scratched the back of his neck and cleared his throat, "It didn't feel fun either if I'm honest. I've kissed better."

"I always imagined that kissing your rival would be breathtaking." Ray then looked over to Max and tilted his head at the nasty blush that was spreading across Max's freckled cheeks. "Wouldn't you agree?"

"Wha..." Max was squirming now. "You wouldn't be able to handle my kisses, Ray-"

"Guys, knock it off." Hilary stomped her foot and stood behind Tyson to place her hands onto his tensed shoulders, hoping it would ease his nerves. "You're not helping."

Max hung his head and Ray just rolled his eyes.

"Oh man, if only Kai had given me Tala's number. I'd love to speak to him-"

"Well, out of this team, Kai knows Tala the best. So maybe that's why he didn't give you his number. Tala probably wouldn't want to speak to you about this." Kenny interrupted and closed his laptop to withdraw Tyson from the internet gossip. "It will die down soon, Tyson, just gives it some time."

A weak smile flopped onto Tyson's lips and he nodded, "Yea, you're right." He then suddenly realised that Hilary's hands were massaging his bare shoulders. It almost made him want to squirm, but to avoid any more drama for today, the exhausted Granger just bit down onto his lower lip and endured it.

After all, what was the harm in Hilary's good intentions? She was his team manager just looking out for her champion, right?

"There is one way to speed up the erase." A familiar voice called out as he passed through the lounge to make his way into the kitchen, "Tyson."

A twitch floored through Tyson's figure. "Shut up, Hiro." He snarled and raised his head to look up at the brunette class president. She gleamed with so much positivity and hope that it almost drew Tyson into her angelic state.

'Well, Hiro's not wrong.' – He thought to himself in a twist of events. 'And then Tala will be able to approach me to talk about everything.'

'NO!' - His inner conscience argued, dragging him away from that escape route. 'This is my fight, I must take care of it on my own!'

"I have an idea." Tyson lowered his head and then gazed down to look at Kenny, "Has a fan blurted out where the Blitzkrieg Boys are staying in Bey-City?"

"Er, yea, why?" Kenny then reached out his hand to catch one of Tyson's arms to stop him from running back out that front door. "Don't do it, you need to start and trust Kai's instructions! And I haven't even told you where the placement is, have I?"

"No, I need to sort this out-" Tyson returned the latch by sealing his hands onto Kenny's white shirt. "Where is he staying!?"

"I'm not telling you!"

"KENNY!"

"Will you two boys pack it in!" Hilary barked and banged their heads together sharply, "You're giving me such a headache. Besides, we need to go out and greet Mr. and Mrs. Tate, they have arrived to pick up Max."

"Jeezz!"

"OW!"

"And Tyson, you need to go and get dressed!" Hilary instructed with her cheeks still blushing at his toned torso. "You're going to embarrass yourself if that towel falls down."

"Pft, it sounds to me like you want that to happen-"

"Max!" Hilary clenched her fists and turned around to face the American. She was now boiling up like a hot kettle. "I dare you to say that again!"

"Fine!" Tyson rose up and latched his hand onto his towel around his waist to hold it up. "I'll go and get dressed. I'll catch up with you later, Max."

'Great, that gives me time to look at this phone that I'd hidden in my room before coming out here to look at the fangirl theories.'~
