-Later that night-
Scott Summers sat in his car with his two best friends, Kurt Wagner, and Bobby Drake. The group of X-Men were parked at a local diner near the border of the town.
Scott flung an onion ring in his mouth, while Kurt attempted to shove an entire cheeseburger into his mouth.
"She said she didn't know?" Bobby asked as he looked over his fries before looking toward his fearless leader, "Scott, I realize it's probably none of my business but what are you going to do about Quicksilver?" he asked shoving a handful of fries into his mouth.
"Vhat can he do?" Kurt asked in between chewing his burger, "Quicksilver vould just run away."
Scott nodded in agreement before he flung another onion ring into his mouth.
"It doesn't matter what he'd do, it matters what Scott would do," Bobby fingered the rim of his drink, "I'm not saying they have to fight," he explained, "Scott's a really mature guy and I'm sure Jean realizes that Quicksilver isn't. You just gotta remind her."
Scott nodded again, taking a swig of his milkshake.
As if on cue, Pietro and Wanda walked across the parking lot and into the diner.
Kurt's head whipped around to see Scott's reaction.
Scott watched as the Maximoff twins walked to the counter and presumably placed their order. He put down his bag of food and focused his attention on his new rival.
"What are you going to do?" Bobby asked sheepishly.
Scott simply remained silent.
"Maybe ve should just go home," Kurt suggested continuing to look at his friend.
In response, Scott silently got out of the car. He closed the door, walked to the front of the vehicle, and leaned against the hood.
Bobby turned to look at Kurt, "What do we do?" he asked the senior X-Man, "Do we call the other X-Men?"
Kurt shook his head, "Ve just vait, ve don't vant to make things vorse," he explained making sure to keep an eye on the older teen.
At that moment, Wanda and Pietro walked out of the diner, bags of food in hand. As they walked through the parking lot Wanda could not shake the feeling that she was being watched. She looked around to see Scott staring at them.
"Can I help you with something Blinky!?" she called out with a sneer, gaining her brother's attention as well.
Scott remained silent, crossing his arms.
Wanda started walking toward him, "You got something to say?" she asked quickly closing the gap.
Scott stood his ground as Wanda was nearly upon him but in an instant Pietro stood between them. Wanda stopped just short of running into her brother. The two males stared at each other for a moment, choosing to remain silent.
"Pietro, what are you…" Wanda was silenced as Pietro grabbed her by the hand and started walking toward Lance's jeep.
Scott watched the twins climb into the vehicle and leave as quickly as they had appeared.
"You okay buddy?" Bobby asked from the car.
Scott turned on his heel and got back into the shiny red sports car, "Well that was out of character."
-Several minutes later-
Wanda glared at her twin brother as he drove them back to the boarding house.
"Why didn't you say anything?" she asked in a huff, "You should have whipped that stupid look off his face."
"That wouldn't accomplish anything," Pietro said with a sigh, "I can't touch him. He is bulletproof and he knows it. Jean will lose it if I fight him and even worse, she'd pick him out of pity."
"You should have let me hex him back in time then," she said slumping into her chair.
"No," he said with a smirk, "He'll keep trying to bait a reaction out of me but I'm gonna beat him with experience."
"Can I assume that you already have a plan?" she asked with a smirk of her own.
"No need," he responded as they pulled into the driveway.
"What?" she asked in complete surprise.
He put the jeep in park and leapt out and started walking up the driveway, "I'm just gonna be me," he said turning to face her, "Jean loves me for who I am. No lies, no games, just Pietro Maximoff."
Wanda walked past him and up the front steps, "Kind of ballsy play," she stated walking into the boarding house, "I'm impressed."
"She'll realize I'm the best option because of it," Pietro followed her into the house, "I hope."
-Meanwhile at the X-Mansion-
Jean lay face down on her bed while Kitty sat at the edge of the bed and Anna Maria sat on the desk chair. Jean had gathered her closest friends to discuss her romantic issues.
Anna Marie sighed, "Ya got two boys chasin' after ya and yer mopin' around lahke ya got stood up for prom," she stated blowing a stray strand of hair out of her face, "Lucky bitch."
"Like, be a little more sensitive, this is a real problem," Kitty responded with a roll of her eyes, "But seriously, who are you going to pick?"
Jean's response was muffled as she talked directly into her pillow.
"Whahle ah'm sure that was an excellent point," Anna Marie said sarcastically, "Who makes ya laugh?"
Jean shot up, spitting out the stray hairs that were in her mouth, "They both make me laugh," she said turning to face the younger woman, "Each in their own way of course."
"Like, who can you have deep conversations with?" Kitty asked leaning forward.
"I can talk to Scott about anything but Pietro… I can talk to him about everything," Jean responded scooting to the edge of the bed.
"Okay, honesty. Who can ya trust?" Anna Marie asked in mild curiosity.
"Scott's the most honest person I've ever met," Jean said with a smile.
"Ah think we have a winner," Anna Marie stated with a nod.
"But Pietro has been very honest about his feelings toward me," Jean continued with a sigh.
"Who's got the better…" Kitty paused for a moment, "You know," she blushed.
Jean stared at her in confusion for a moment then turned to Anna.
"Body? Hair? Which one do ya wanna lick whipped cream off?" Anna asked suddenly much more interested in the line of questioning.
"Scott's hair is great and he's always working out," Jean stated with a blush, "Pietro… his hair is softer than mine and have you seen his abs?"
Anna Marie smirked, "Ah have, not bad at all Maximoff," she said liking her lips.
Kitty stared at the goth girl for a moment, "Well it's a tie. You love them both and can't live without either one of them," she stated in disappointment, "This was a bad idea."
"No," Jean said shaking her head, "No, this was a good idea. I love Scott, I've known him most of my life and until now I never knew it could be challenged."
Anna Marie and Kitty scooted closer to the redhead in anticipation.
"Pietro challenges me at every level. He brings a different perspective," Jean said getting to her feet and walking toward the door, "We're so different."
"Sounds lahke ya made yer decision," Anna Marie stated joining her friend.
"So, like, where are you going?" Kitty asked following her friends.
"First, I'm going to shower and freshen up," Jean answered, walking briskly down the hallway, "Then I'm going to go tell him how I feel," she opened the bathroom door and closed it behind her.
"Who do you think she's going to pick?" Kitty asked her friend.
Anna Marie began walking back to her own room, "Ah'll just be happy when tha drama is ovah."
Kitty could only nod before joining her roommate.
