Chapter 7 – "I think I'm drunk"
It was late at night, the town of Magnolia was asleep, with the exception of a certain guild with a reputation of being rowdy. Fairy Tail had decided to throw a sudden welcome party for Kazuki as a means of erasing the awkwardness that had been created earlier in the day. Several small brawls had already taken place, mainly between Natsu, Gray, Gajeel and Elfman, all of them being won by Erza of course. Rei was sitting on the bar counter with a blonde-haired woman and brown eyes, on her lap was a small girl with pink hair peacefully sleeping. This was Lucy Dragneel, Natsu's wife, and the small girl was their daughter, Nashi Dragneel.
"So, how did you and Kazuki meet?" The bartender asked, she had silver hair up to her back and was wearing her usual red dress. This was Mirajane Strauss, she was one of Fairy Tail's S-Class Wizards and Elfman's older sister.
"Yeah tell us." Lucy added.
"Well, I ran into him at the agency in Ariel, he asked if I had a partner for the job, I said no and let him come with me." Rei replied.
"How did you two get together so quickly?" Mira asked, overly enthusiastic. She was Fairy Tail's resident shipper.
"Well, it's a funny story. He had his guard up all the time around me and basically everyone. Everything I would say annoyed him, honestly I think he saw me as a nuisance at the time."
"How did you two go from that to dating in just 1 week?" Lucy inquired.
"Actually it was 2 days. We got the train from Ariel to boat town, I ended up falling asleep as usual. He tried to adjust my position, so I wouldn't get a neck cramp and I ended up leaning on him whilst sleeping and he just let me."
"Wow, isn't he slick." Lucy responded sarcastically as Mira squirmed to herself in full fangirl fashion.
"That's actually what I thought at first as well, I even called him out for it on the train. Turns out, he was too nervous to move away." Rei laughed, she made Kazuki sound like a timid child.
"Aww, how cute" Mira responded. "C'mon, tell us more."
"Welp, after we got off the train, we spent the night at a hotel he paid for, and then he went to get us some alcohol whilst I stayed behind and made some fries."
"Your signature Chilli Cheese Fries?" Lucy asked.
"Yes."
"I love your fries; they taste so great."
"Aww, thanks Luce." Rei blushed. "Anyway, we talked a little, I told him about my life, and I started to feel something towards him, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Skip to the next day, I took out a guild to show him I can take care of myself and then we agreed to split up and take the remaining 2 guilds out, 1 each."
"Is this where the situation with the Bane Particles happened?" Mira asked, she was worried for Rei and Kazuki, Bane Particles have a long-lasting effect, Laxus still suffered weekly severe chest pains from them.
"Yeah, I took out my 2nd guild and heard a loud explosion coming from where Kazuki had gone, I rushed towards him and saw him inhaling them all."
"How is he still alive?" Lucy asked genuinely surprised.
"He's a 2nd Generation Dragon Slayer, his dragon lungs helped nullify a small fraction of the particles, just like with Laxus."
"And that was enough? It wasn't for Laxus." Mira countered.
"That's because he has this amazing healing ability called Regeneration. His body erupts into small golden flames that heals all his wounds, internal and external."
"Oh, so that's what that healing magic was that he used on you earlier." Lucy nodded, taking a sip from her strawberry-vodka punch.
"Yup. He fell on the ground after he consumed the particles, I ran to him and called the agency to request emergency aid. Long story short, he regenerated, and we went to his house so I could make sure he fully recovers."
"How did you two get together though!?" Mira was practically screaming and shaking, she couldn't contain her excitement. Rei and Lucy couldn't help but laugh watching her.
"We talked about what to do after he fully recovered, and then he told me he wanted to join the guild so we'd remain partners, that made me so happy and I hugged him, I thought he was going to push me away angrily but he hugged me back. That's when I figured out that I liked him, then he finally told me his name and I couldn't help but kiss him."
"Oh my god! Oh my god! What next?!" Mira was getting more and more excited.
"Well, I told him that I like him, and he told me he likes me as well. And well, the rest is history."
"Wait that's it? You just kissed and confessed?" Mira and Lucy asked together, both were slightly disappointed.
"What more do you want?"
"You spent a whole week with him at his house." Lucy pressed to Rei.
"Well, in that week, we kissed and cuddled a lot, actually that's literally all we did, turns out he's super clingy and just won't let me go." Rei smiled dreamingly.
"It doesn't look like you mind his clingy side."
"That's because I love it." Rei's grin had never been so bright, Mira and Lucy saw how happy she looked.
"Well, we're glad for you Rei." They both said in unison.
"Thanks. Hey Mira, another round of Scotch on the rocks please."
"Coming right up, you want a refill Lucy?"
"No thanks, I have to take Natsu and Nashi home soon."
The trio kept chatting for a little while until Lucy left with Nashi and Natsu to go home. The rest of the guild soon mimicked them, Gajeel left with his wife, Levy, a petite blue haired woman. Romeo left with his girlfriend, Wendy. Gray and his wife Juvia, a blue haired woman had left a while ago. The only people remaining in the guild were, Mira, Laxus, Makarov, Rei, Kazuki and Cana.
Kazuki and Cana had been having a drinking contest which had lasted hours, neither party seemed to be losing though.
"Damn, you can really hold your liquor." Cana complimented Kazuki.
"I wouldn't call this weak stuff alcohol." Kazuki retorted. It was true, Kazuki was used to much stronger concentrations of booze.
"Alright you two, that's enough drinking for 1 night." Makarov intervened.
"I guess you're right gramps." Cana responded, she paid her fill and left the guild. "See ya all tomorrow!" She shouted on her way out.
"We should get going as well Kaz." Rei held Kazuki's hand as he stood up and paid for his fill of the alcohol.
"Where is he going to be staying?" Laxus asked.
"With me." Rei answered.
"What? Hell no."
"No one asked for your permission, you wouldn't be complaining if you had the balls to ask Mira out." Rei retorted. Laxus went beet red at his comment and turned away, silently cursing Rei.
"She's right you know; I want grandkids before I die. Even Elfman confessed to Evergreen, when will you tell Mira how you feel about her?" Makarov added to the teasing as he waved Rei and Kazuki goodbye.
"Shut it old man." Laxus muttered as he stormed out, Mira hastily followed him.
"Goodnight Master."
"Goodnight Mira."
Rei and Kazuki reached Rei's apartment in no time at all, she lived just down the road from Fairy Tail.
"Rei. I need to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"I think I'm drunk."
"No shit sherlock, you've been drunk for ages." Rei reached into her purse for her keys and unlocked her door.
"I guess I didn't notice." Kazuki followed Rei into her apartment.
"So what do you think?" Rei asked, she wanted to know what he thought of his new home.
"I think you're hot." Rei went as red as a tomato at his comment.
"What are you saying all of a sudden, I meant what do you think of the apartme-" Rei was cut off as Kazuki pulled her into a long kiss. Rei broke the kiss so she could breathe.
"I can't think straight, you're so fucking gorgeous." He whispered into her left ear as he nibbled on it.
"Kazuki, do you really want to play this game?" Rei teased.
"You started it."
"How?"
"On the train earlier today."
"But are you bold enough to continue?" Her question made him stop, he was blushing furiously.
"I, I thought I was, but I, you're just so cute and hot, I can't. I don't know." Kazuki was stuttering with his words, Rei had no idea the effect she had on him.
"Fuck, you're too adorable." Rei responded biting her bottom lip, she tackled him to the bed and bit his neck. "I'll take the lead; do you trust me?"
"I do."
"What do you want me to do?" Rei teased him as she gave him another hickey.
"I want you to claim me." He answered anxiously, he was out of his comfort zone, but it was okay if it was with Rei. His answer was all Rei needed as she undressed him and herself. She got up, turned off the lights and dragged her covers over herself and Kazuki.
The following morning was peaceful and calm, Kazuki had woken up to find Rei sleeping on his shoulder. He felt slightly cold and wondered why, he lifted the cover to find himself and Rei completely naked. Kazuki panicked as he tried to figure out what was going on, he calmed down once the events of last night had come back to him. He smiled and gently kissed Rei's forehead as he hugged her.
"I love you." He whispered in her ear.
"I love you too." Rei whispered back as she returned the hug.
"Should we head to the guild and pick a job?"
"What time is it?"
Kazuki checked his watch, "It's 8am."
"That's little early."
"What can we do to the pass the time, we could stay like this for a while longer."
"We could, or I can 'claim' you again." Rei teased him as she gave him another hickey. Kazuki squirmed as Rei laid on top of him and put the cover on top of them again.
"What about protection?" Kazuki asked.
"Today is a safe day, don't worry."
"Can I take the lead this time?"
"Can you handle it?" Rei teased again.
"Just watch me." Kazuki reversed their position so he was on top, he attacked her lips in a rough kiss and gave her several hickeys on her neck as his way of revenge for last night.
The pair continued their carnivorous activities for several hours before leaving the apartment to get breakfast.
"What should we do today?" Rei asked.
"We could do a S-Class job."
"For Dark guild hunting?"
"Yes, or we could do something else if you want."
"Nah, taking down dark guilds sounds more fun. Just promise me something."
"What is it?"
"Promise me that you won't kill, ever again."
"Okay I promise. But I can't keep that promise if and when I find the Blood Spirals."
"That's fine with me. Those bastards have it coming."
"Yeah."
If only Rei knew what the Blood Spirals had done to Kazuki, if only she knew…
