*Hey guys, so I would to know if you guys are enjoying this series. I've been feeling down not really knowing if this story is really worth to keep going on with. This will be the last chapter for a while till I feel like it's not going to waste.*
Rachael's P.O.V
We were all sitting in the Sheriffs office, waiting patiently for Caroline's mom to come out and talk to us about Vicki's disappearance. I really didn't feel like coming, but Elena forced everyone to go, I could've just stayed at the house. But no, when it involves something important to Elena we must all do what she dear wishes.
I watched as one by one Sheriff would call someone in to talk about Vicki's case, I was lucky enough that I wasn't called in first, as everyone finished I heard my name being called in. My stomach turned over, even though I didn't do anything to be questioned on. I still hated being called into the office where I could be arrested and put away for life. Taking a big breath I stepped forward into the room sitting down on the chair that was before her desk.
"So, I heard you and Vicki really didn't get along with each other. Is this true?" The Sheriff asked while giving me a pointed look over her files.
I nodded, seeing I couldn't lie. Vicki was a bitch for manipulating both Jeremy and Tyler, I hated it even before I was in the show. I would fume over that she would show love to both, but then go straight for drug with the other. Biting my tongue so I wouldn't say anything that would get me in trouble I looked up at the Sheriff.
"Yea, I didn't really like her. But she was hurting my brother with her caring for him, to dumping him to the trash a week later. " I paused feeling the anger bubble under my skin.
She nodded before asking me a few more questions. I answered them the best I could, once she wrote the last of the notes she needed. I was excused to go out to the others. Not wanting to stay there any longer I quickly made my way to the front spotting Elena telling Stefan on how she can't keep seeing him anymore.
Stefan's face had a pained expression after his conversation with Elena. I was about to speak up and try ask what's wrong (I already know what was wrong, trying to make it less suspicious.)
"Everything okay with you and him?" I ventured pointing my thumb over at Stefan's retreating figure.
She looked close to crying as she watched Stefan walk away. I may sound like a person who hate's Elena, but if you saw her looking close to tears while the one man who changed her life just walks away after she finds out who he really is.
"I'm fine.. let's just head home." Elena said with a shaky voice.
A few hours of pondering if I wanted to visit the boarding house and see the one vampire who made woman like us feel bold and confident to men. I was going back and forth in my head, knowing if I went she would be hell-a confused with a random human showing up to ask tons of questions and just in general talk about life.
I groaned rolling over facing my body towards my door. Thinking long made my head hurt, so already figuring out my plan I got up and changed into an outfit that deemed comfortably for the party at the grill, I wasn't going all out or anything for the party, I just felt like wearing something that would maybe catch a few eyes. I chuckled at the thought before quickly putting on my shoes and opening to the door to see Elena hand ready to to knock.
"Ah, Elena! what do I owe the pleasure of having you nearly knock me out with your fist." I commented as she put her hand down giving me a confused glare.
"I was, wondering if you could come with me to the boarding house so I can talk to Stefan." Elena spoke quickly.
I thought about it for a second. Seeing that right after she visits the boarding house we come back here, and sneaks out to the party at the grill where Caroline throws under the compulsion to by Damon.
"Sure, I really don't have anywhere else to go." I shrugged grabbing my jacket and strolling out to Elena's car.
Just like it happened in the show, Elena walked in seeing that the door is never locked. Which I still don't understand why two vampires who are vulnerable to a steak to the heart, would keep it unlocked at all hours of the day. Blows my mind if I'm being quite frank.
Lexi appeared like she did, and soon seeing Elena already had the idea of Katherine. I watched as they both had small talk before Elena not wanting to be in the same room with the girl, that she thought slept with Stefan left in shocked face and hurt heart. Once she left I then realized I was still in the same room with Lexi who was staring at me with a frown on her face.
"Uh.. Hi?" I awkwardly waved at the vampire who still looked quite miffed from Elena's look alike to Katherine.
"Who are you?" Lexi asked as she crossed her arms over her towel.
I debated telling her the real reason who I am, before dropping the thought knowing she would call me crazy and possibly kill me. I gave her a small smile putting my hands up in a surrender position.
"I'm Rachael, Elena's younger sister." I spoke slowly knowing it was half-truth.
"Stefan told me that Elena had two siblings, I just thought he was joking about her having a sister a year apart from Elena." Lexi chuckled as she saw me frown slightly.
"Didn't know Stefan talked to about me to all his friends." I wondered out-loud, of course I knew he talked about Elena but talking about her siblings, especially me in this topic.
Lexi nodded as turned her head slightly to look behind her. Stefan must've just finished with his shower. Meaning, I should probably leave and head to the grill seeing Elena left me here in her fit of shock.
"Well. I gotta go. Big party happening at the grill. Don't want to miss the cake!" I lied as I ran out quickly speeding my run till I reached the Mystic Grill.
I arrived at the grill nearly out of breath. Yes I ran the whole way so I could have just a little time before Elena got here. Making sure I still looked at least some what presentably I walked into the grill, My eyes looked around the bar spotting Lexi had just shot down Damon's drink proposal and was now walking away from a annoyed looking Damon.
I walked up to the bar a few feet away, hoping he wouldn't spot me right off the bat. The bar tender came around taking my order, I could see his eyes drift down my body eyeing me up. Holding back a gag I paid for my drink. The music was loud enough that I couldn't hear anyone else talking or coming up behind me, Which concerned me a bit due to a certain vampire I was avoiding.
Once the bartender came back with my drinking touching my hand a little to much for my liking before he turned around, but not before giving me a wink. Was he seriously trying to... I turned back around with my drink eyeing the people in the bar. It was busy enough for someone who doesn't like being around a huge amount of people to be flustered by that many sweaty people. I let my gaze fall to the pool table where a group of friends were playing. I let myself become distracted and not seeing that the one guy at the pool table looked up at me with a smile, not a 'I'm totally gonna be a douche and flirt with her.' No, it was more like a come over and join smile - I was about to reject, before seeing I really wasn't doing anything besides pondering over my dry love life. I picked my drink up and headed over giving the guy a sly smile.
"Got room for one more player?" I asked giving him a shy smile.
Third P.O.V (Damon's)
He wasn't happy at all. In fact he was beyond annoyed, He planned this whole thing out for a cover to his brother's birthday. When Lexi arrived alone without his brother felt anger that his plan wasn't going like he wanted. Damon tried to flirt his way with Lexi earlier that morning but her being the older of the two. He was overpowered, tonight was all an excuse to get the town council off his back. With the mistake as Vicki Donovan was not really his proud moment, it was worse when the one person he didn't want to get involved with his bad mistake was hurt in twice.
The thought of that one person he couldn't quite get out of his head made him confused, He had a plan and it was to save Katherine and get the hell out of this god for forsaken town. Except it wasn't going exactly like planned. Damon knew he was distracted by that one human, being annoyed at his frustrations he gulped down his bourbon with one quick sip. Knowing he would need a lot more he signaled for the bartender who was serving a customer down a few seats, after the bartender left the customer he came over to Damon with a roll of his eyes.
"Another on sir." The bartender expressed his annoyance as he grabbed the cup and refilled it.
Damon didn't pay much attention as he was waiting for Caroline to give him the necklace he much needed for his plan to go through. After a while the person who was sitting next to him stood up and headed towards the dance floor.
"One Sprite please." The Familiar voice spoke as the bartender came over to take the order.
Damon's head slowly turned to see Rachael in a casual outfit that fit her perfectly. He watched as the bartender took her order, Damon could feel anger start to roll off his shoulders as he noticed the bartender eyeing up her body in a seductive manner. He gripped his cup tightly while the bartender left to get her drink.
He heard her gag underneath her breath causing him to smirk to appear on his face. Rachael wasn't liking how the bartender eyes did either, a few moments later the bartender returned with her drink - as he handed it to her, their fingers touched longer than he liked. Damon could see she disliked the touching as well, because as soon as the bartender turned away she whipped her hand on her leg.
After a few minutes he noticed she was looking off at the pool table where some friends were playing. She eyed them for a few seconds, Damon turned his gaze away her to where she was looking at. A young boy was giving a small smile - while waving her over to come play.
Rachael got up and headed over to the group, he could she was shy and nervous - while the guy handed her a pole.
"Got room for another player?" She asked with a shy smile.
Not wanting to watch her be flirted with by the others guy, he got up and headed to find Caroline. It didn't take him long till he bumped into her while heading the way she came from. He looked down at her, seeing she didn't have the one thing he wanted in her hands.
"Where is it?" He asked rudely.
Caroline pouted her lips as she turned to look over her shoulder where Bonnie was glaring over at where Caroline had just left.
"Bonnie won't give it to me" Caroline complained, frowning up at Damon.
"So rip it off her neck." He nonchalantly said shrugging his shoulders.
Caroline looked down at her fingers rubbing the tips of them, like she was remembering the painful shock when she tried to yank it off Bonnie's neck.
"I tried. It shocked me." Caroline's voice was becoming high pitched.
Damon swore underneath his breath before he ran his fingers through his hair. This was gonna be a problem, if blondie couldn't do it, he would have to find a different way to get it off her.
"Damn it! Why does it do that? I need that crystal." He growled stomping his foot on the ground, frustrated about this who ordeal.
Caroline watched his reaction, she didn't really know why he wanted it so badly. But seeing him become more agitated she was angered by the fact she had to help him again, after what he did to her.
"Why are you being like this? I'm so good to you and I'd do anything. It's just some stupid necklace." Caroline's whiney voice asked as her eyes pleaded up at him.
Damon let out a huff of air closing his eyes. He can't deal with her anymore than he has already done. Turning to her he put hands on both of her shoulders, while he put head down so he could see her eyes.
"No, you are the only stupid thing here. And shallow. And useless." He remarked with a sneer before he turned around walked away from a hurt looking Caroline.
Rachael's P.O.V
"Thanks for the game. I had a lot of fun!" I expressed with a smile as the rest of the group began to head towards the bard.
Adam the guy who offered me to join gave me a small shy grin. He was cute, with his brown hair and green eyes. He wasn't Damon, but he still had some perks about the way he looked and was normal, human.
"Yeah, no problem. I'm sorry if my friends were total asses, they aren't really kind when it comes to table pool." He confessed rubbing the back of his neck in an awkwardness.
I chuckled shaking my head, yeah his friends got a bit mean towards the end of the game. But I still had tons of fun kicking ass and making new friends. I patted Adam on the shoulder kindly giving him a friendly smirk.
"Don't worry about it, I enjoyed playing. Maybe we can play again?" I suggested hoping he may take me up on it.
Adam gave me a wide smile nodding his head. I returned the smile before I remembered I had a place to be. I gave my number to Adam telling him to give me a text whenever he wants to play some pool, or hang out. Making sure I wasn't gonna miss anything, I headed over to where Damon had just stormed off. I followed as he headed out hearing the couple making out down below.
I stopped once hearing the screams, like he always does, Damon had a plan. After a few seconds he came back out, not wanting to get caught I hid behind the corner of the grill that was in the dark. He had a smirk on his face as he whipped the blood from corners of his mouth, checking around to make sure he wasn't being watched he entered the grill again.
I let out a breath of relief. Turning my head around making sure I wasn't going to get caught out here by Caroline's mom I headed back into the grill. I scanned my eyes around noticing Elena was watching Stefan dance with Lexi, though he looked like he wasn't really into it that much.
Wanting to catch up with Elena for ditching me at the boarding house, which I was still pretty pissed about, I headed over and stood next to her as she sulking watched the two vampires dance. It didn't take long for Damon to come up behind us and whisper into Elena's ear.
"Stefan smiles. Alert the media." Damon joked as he too watched his brother dance with Lexi.
I rolled my eyes turning around to face Damon with my arms crossed. He didn't even bother to acknowledge my presence, I waved my hand in front of his face causing him to grab my wrist and stare at me for a second, before letting go of my hand.
"Oh so nice to see you to Damon. Hope your day is going peachy." I scoffed muttering some words underneath my breath.
Elena rolled her eyes at my statement to Damon, she turned to him with a firm look on her face as she crossed her arms over her chest. I watched if Damon would do anything to what I had said. But no he had eyes for the girl he longed for. I gave up trying to gain a reaction turning away watching other people dance. At least their having fun.
"You haven't given him a lot of reasons to be happy lately." Elena replied with a snarky voice.
I mentally wanted to slam my head into a wall. She had her jealous stage when it was at the boarding house, but now it was like she was more envious of Lexi. I didn't want to hear their little flirting back and forth, quickly leaving them to do what they please - I headed over to the bar. Luckily the guy who was eyeing me up earlier was gone and now it was a female bartender.
"What's the strongest drink you have, that isn't going to get you fired to give me." I muttered slumping down onto the bar stool.
She laughed a little at my mood, turning her head to look around to make sure no one was around she lowered her head so she can speak lowly.
"I do, bad night?" She asked with a curious look.
"You don't know the half of it." I drawled putting my head on top of my hands. The woman looked at me with a compaonisate stare before she turned around and picked up a drink handing it to me.
"If you tell anyone I gave you a free-bee you won't hear the end of it from me." She whispered in a hushed voice.
I put my hand to my lips making a key signal and locking my lips - then throwing the imagaingry key into the air. She gave me one last firm nod before turning to help some other customers. I let out a sigh letting my shoulders sag down to a slump, eyeing my drink I took a small sip swallowing it down slowly, it did burn just a little. But it also felt great. Taking a few more bigger sips I set down the glass. What was I doing? drinking over a guy I can't have, or will never notice I exist. My eyes gazed around the room, Damon wasn't standing next to Elena, assuming that he left to find himself something to drink.
"Looking for someone?" A voice spoke next to my ear.
I turned my face calmly to look at the blue eyed vampire. He pouted seeing that I didn't react on point. I groaned not wanting to talk to him after his last stunt for not even giving me a glance. I ignored his comment, looking down at my drink that was half gone.
After a few moments Damon got tired of my silent treatment. It must've really irritated him for not having someone pay attention to him all the time, He cleared his throat like he was about to make a toast.
"I'm sorry." He spoke quietly.
I turned my chair so I had to face him. He kept his eyes staring at something on my shoulder instead of looking directly at me, I felt my wall of grudge fall down - once I saw his expression.
"I don't understand. One moment you'll flirt and be an ass, but when I'm with my sister you only give me cold shoulder. I-" I stopped myself from saying what I really wanted to. He wouldn't stop being who he is just to appease someone else's happiness.
Damon watched me for a few seconds before he sat down on the stool next to me. I could see he wanted to talk about my sudden pause in conversation, I took a few more sips of my drink before laying my arms down on the bar and gently putting my head down on them.
Lexi didn't take long to come over with some shots and started to talk to Damon. I didn't care much about this part, It's not like I could tell Lexi that in only a few moments she will be vervained and stabbed outside by Damon. I felt a tear roll down my cheek, I know I should stop it, but I had no idea how.
"What are you doing, hanging with her then?" Lexi's comment caught me by surprise. Why is he hanging around with me?
Damon must've shot a glance over at my face, before returning his head back to Lexi's question.
"She has spunk, and isn't like Elena when I try talking to her." Damon replied confused the hell out of me. He didn't even answer it right.
Lexi said a few more things before I heard the sound of her gasp and pass out. Knowing this would be a good time to leave, I quickly got up as the Sheriff came in and took Lexi out while Damon with his good acting looked up at the Sheriff shocked.
"What are you doing?!" He exclaimed as he shot up to as they took Lexi's vervained body out of the grill. I watched as the crowd became to disperse, I followed behind until I reached outside. Making sure I hid in the darkness well enough not to get spotted.
Much to show, Lexi got up and tried to attack the people who vervained her. I watched in horror as Damon wanting to be the 'hero' walked up and stood in front of the sheriff staking Lexi in the heart. A whimper escaped my lips - quickly I put my hand over my mouth and hid behind the building again.
"I'm so sorry Lexi." I whispered hugging my sides rocking back and forth to comfort. I knew Damon was just trying to get the town council off his back, but it still hurt seeing him kill Stefan's best friend who helped him a lot over the years the ripper stage was.
I must've stayed there longer than I wanted, because of all the miss calls I got from my phone. Not wanting to freak out Elena, or Aunt Jenna, I made the choice to walk home in the dark. Which wasn't the brightest idea I could've done in a town full of vampires.
The sound of a car came up behind me, I ignored it still walking at the slow pace I had started with, the sound of the car door opening and shutting caused me to stop in my tracks. Who would be stop out of their way to start following me? My shoulders tenses up as I picked up my walking speed.
"You're gonna freeze out here. Rachael." The voice spoke from my right side.
I turned seeing Damon standing next to me in his black leather jacket and firm look on his face.
"I rather freeze." I scoffed before turning and going back to walking. Of course with his vampire speed he caught up easily.
"Come on, Don't be like that." Damon jested as he kept pace with me.
Whipping around quickly I pointed my finger at him. He stopped in his steps seeing the anger radiating off of me.
"Why? I get it you're a vampire you need to eat, but why did you have to kill her. You could've just turned someone random and killed them to get the town council off your back. No, you wanted to make your brother hate you even more than he did before." I hurled at him, breathing heavily. I was still upset over Lexi, and kicking myself that I couldn't save her.
Damon took a few steps back, like I had just slapped him with a steak. Before I could read more into his face expression he became angered slowly approaching me. I could tell I must've pushed him to far.
"This doesn't matter to me Rachael, I don't care if my brother hates me after what I did. So, now, I'm not going to ask you again. Get in the damn car." Damon threatened as he got back into his car.
I shivered as a gust of cold wind blew onto me. He was right, I just hated to admit he was. I followed his lead and got into his car, the ride back to the house was quiet, neither of us wanted to talk to each other. I was perfectly fine with that. Damon pulled up the the Gilbert's house stopping to let me out before pulling out and driving back to the boarding house.
It didn't take long for me to sleep, but seeing the day was full of feelings and emotions. That it really caused me to lose all the energy I had for the one day, I laid down on my bed staring at the ceiling. I had failed to put myself out there and help Lexi. And that will haunt me forever.
