Author's Note: Fun fact. The end scene from the last chapter and the beginning scene to this chapter were written TWO YEARS AGO. I had initially written the scenes for a future fic, but nothing ever came of it. I saved it in my iNotes, knowing that one day I would use it. That day is now! This chapter is one of my favorites as that "scene" was one of my favorites I've written. It's obviously special to me as this idea has been two years in the making! The mini crock pot joke at the end is just another way of subtly making a joke of Crockett's name. Crockpot. Davey Crockett. Betty Crocker...oh so many possibilities. I hope you all enjoy- I'm already planning a third installment of this "series" btw so hold onto your hats! Thanks for the reviews! Keep them coming- click on that cute little button on the bottom and leave me some love! Can't wait for new Med episodes!

~Switchfoot~ Dare You to Move~
" I think I'm pregnant." Natalie's words hung heavy in the air. Will sat beside Natalie, almost in shock.
" Did you just say?"
" Mmhmmm," she replied, waiting for Will's reaction.
" Have you taken a test? Do you even have one?" Natalie nodded and produced a pink box.
" I bought it on my way to work this morning."
" This morning? Nat. Why didn't you say something earlier?"
" I was busy with a patient and then you passed out. It...there was so much going on. It just didn't feel right. A part of me...a part of me was worried. I mean, you were so...angry. I was worried that you'd…"
" That I'd what? Leave you?" Natalie was silent as Will took her face in his hands.
I love you Natalie Manning-Halstead. I always have and always will. This week has been a whirlwind to say the least. I know I wasn't thinking straight earlier. I can never apologize enough for that. Even though I've been a jerk, you are the saving grace I've needed throughout the past few days. I meant every word I said when we exchanged our vows. You possibly being pregnant isn't going to change that. If anything, it makes me love you more."
" The timing though…"
" Is there ever really a perfect time?"
" True," conceded Natalie.
" This. Our relationship. It's been years in the making. Who cares if we got married and found out you were pregnant in the same week? You and I. We've always done things our own way. Now pee on the damn stick already!" A small smile crept across Natalie's face as she stood and grabbed the box from an anxious Will.
" Turn your back or something," she exclaimed before sitting on the toilet and extracting the test. Once she was finished she handed Will the test before washing her hands.
" Now what?"
" We wait," replied Natalie, taking the test back.
" I don't know if I can," Will said excitedly.
" You sound like Owen on Christmas morning." Will ignored her joke, instead reaching for her hand.
" This feels perfect. Us. Owen…" Will was interrupted by the alarm going off that Natalie had set on her phone.
" So? What does it say?"
" It says you're going to be a daddy," Natalie replied, handing Will the test so he could see the results for himself. For the second time that day WIll found himself crying, however, this time being tears of joy.
" I love you so much," he managed to get out before embracing Natalie, the test falling to the floor.
" I love you too," she whispered, giving Will a kiss as she sunk deeper into his embrace.
Later on that evening, long after Owen had gone to bed, Will and Natalie lay side by side each other in bed.
" I know it's only been a few days, but I really missed this," divulged Will as he turned onto his side to face Natalie.
" Me too," she replied with a smile.
Have you heard from anyone about Jay?"
" Hailey texted a few times while you were putting Owen to bed. Marcel threatened to block my number if I text him or call one more time," commented a slightly irritated Will.
" I'm so glad you chose to come home to get some rest and spend time with us. The bed's felt so empty without you beside me."
" I can't believe I almost let you go."
" I'm so glad we have the rest of our lives together."
" If someone would have told me a few months ago that you and I would be married and expecting a baby together as well, I'd think they were insane." Will smiled as he laid a hand on Natalie's stomach.
You do realize that we conceived our first child in the backseat of your SUV."
" On Maggie's wedding day nonetheless," remarked Natalie.
" Nothing like proposing to my now beautiful wife on the dance floor mere minutes after making our son or daughter. Makes for a funny story."
" We really are crazy," she declared.
" I wouldn't have it any other way."
Early the next morning Will awoke to the sound of his alarm going off.
" Aren't you still on leave?" mumbled a tired Natalie.
" I want to be there when Abrams does his rounds," he explained, heading for the en suite bathroom. Will smiled as he stepped into the shower, remembering what had transpired last evening. Natalie was pregnant. He was going to be a dad. Will felt a rush of excitement as he slathered shampoo into his hair then grabbed for his body wash. He couldn't wait to tell Jay. Just as Will was finishing rinsing the soap of his hair, the bathroom door opened.
" Hailey. Calm down!"
" What's going on?" asked Will, unable to hear his wife due to the water pouring out of the shower head. Natalie knocked on the shower door, signaling for him to turn off the water.
" What is it?" he asked worriedly, grabbing for a towel.
" It's Hailey. Something is going on and she's hysterical." Will grabbed his phone, dropping his bath towel in the process.
" Hailey. What's wrong?" he asked, turning on his speakerphone.
" One of the machines just started beeping like crazy. Something is wrong Will. I think he's dying."
" Slow down," he instructed, going back into the bedroom. He grabbed a nearby pair of scrubs and sat down on the bed.
Put your phone on speaker and then hold it up near the machine." Natalie tossed Will a pair of boxers as she came back into the room. He had just tugged on his scrubs when Hailey's voice came back on the line.
" Can you hear it?" she asked frantically.
" That's the respirator!" Natalie and Will shouted in unison.
" Hailey. Go have the nurse page Dr. Marcel STAT. I'm on my way," Will declared, hanging up.
" Take my car. Helen can bring me to work later," offered Natalies as Will dashed down the stairs.
" I love you!" he shouted, bolting out of the front door with the keys.
Despite the hospital being a regular ten minute drive, Will made it to Gaffney in just five minutes. After frantically parking the SUV, Will rushed into the ED, making a mad dash for the stairs, having no patience for the elevator. By the time he made it to the ICU, Will found himself briefly pausing, feeling out of breath. Preparing for the worst, he approached Jay's room, expecting to find it full of doctors and nurses calling a code. Instead Will found a much calmer Hailey sitting beside Jay's bed.
" Where the hell are your shoes?" Will turned around to find Crockett standing behind him.
" Huh?"
" Your shoes. You're not wearing any." Will looked down and discovered he indeed was only wearing socks.
" I was in a hurry. When we heard the beeping of the respirator I ran out of the house and sped the whole way here. What's going on? I'm assuming it's respiratory failure. Did he code?"
" Dude. Slow down. Do you know what happens when you assume?"
" I do. I also know that you're dangerously close to finding out what happens when you piss me off by being a smart ass," challenged Will.
" Abrams and I are putting the EEG on the back burner for now. Will, Jay spontaneously triggered the vent and is breathing on his own," explained Crockett. Will froze, his brain slowly processing what Marcel had just said. Jay was breathing. On his own.
" Why is he still on the vent then?"
" I wanted to give his body a little longer to acclimate, to make sure this wasn't a false alarm. Plus I figured you'd want to be here when I extubated him."
" Of course," replied Will, feeling anxious and excited as he followed the surgeon into the ICU room.
" What's going on?" asked Hailey, watching curiously as Crockett snapped on a pair of gloves.
" Dr. Marcel is going to remove the breathing tube," Will explained.
" Wait. You mean he's not dying?" she asked, feeling confused.
" Not today. When you called, that was the machine signaling that Jay is breathing on his own."
" Christ Will. I called Voight and the rest of the unit, telling them they needed to come immediately. I thought he was dying!"
" So did Will to be fair," admitted Crockett.
" I better go downstairs to head everyone off before the ICU is flooded with cops."
" Thank you for staying with him Hailey," Will offered as the blonde detective left. Meanwhile Crockett had switched off the ventilator, disconnecting it from Jay's breathing tube. Will watched nervously as Marcel proceeded to pull the tube out, eliciting a cough from Jay.
" That my friend is an excellent sign," he declared, lending Will his stethoscope while he placed Jay on regular oxygen from a nasal cannula. Will's heart swelled, feeling elated as he listened to Jay's lungs expanding on their own now.
" I want to keep his sedation meds on board for now, but if Jay continues to show progress I'll begin the wean later this afternoon. Hopefully this stubborn asshole will start coming to this evening," stated Crockett as he threw away his gloves.
" I've got to get down to the ED." Will watched as Crockett walked out of the room and to the elevators before turning back towards his brother.
" I know you're in there. I can't wait until we can really talk, but I've got a secret and I wanted you to be the first person I told. Natalie is pregnant. You're going to be an uncle again." Will's phone buzzed, signaling a phone call from Natalie.
" Hey. I'm downstairs. You forgot to put on your shoes when you left," she said.
" Crockett was quick to point that out," Will remarked.
" Meet me at the elevators?"
" Sure. See you soon." Will hung up, giving Jay one last glance before leaving.
True to her word, Natalie was waiting at the elevators when Will stepped out into the ED.
" Let's go in here," he suggested, pulling Natalie into an empty exam room. He sat down on the gurney, pulling on each shoe before tying them tightly.
" What's going on with Jay? I would have been here earlier, but your child didn't like the eggs I made for breakfast."
" It's good news actually. Jay triggered the ventilator and is breathing on his own. Crockett is going to start weaning his sedation meds this evening if he continues to remain stable."
" That's amazing!" exclaimed Natalie, watching Will with a puzzled look as he pulled the curtain shut.
What are you doing?"
" I know it's extremely early, but I want to try and get a good look at the baby," he offered up, smiling with glee as he grabbed a nearby ultrasound machine.
" It's definitely worth a shot. We were able to see Owen just before seven weeks...and if our math is right, this baby shouldn't be too far behind," reasoned Natalie as she laid back on the gurney. The room was silent as Will manipulated the transducer over Natalie's stomach.
" Stop! Right there." Will punched a few buttons before looking at the screen. He wiped away tears with his spare hand that had started to brim, unable to take his eyes off their pea sized baby. Natalie too was staring at the screen in awe as Will printed off several sonograms. Instinctively he pushed another button. Just a few seconds later the whooshing sound of the baby's heartbeat filled the room. Will was unable to stop his tears this time as Natalie sat up, wiping off her stomach. He dropped the transducer, leaning into Natalie for a passionate kiss which she eagerly returned. The two became so consumed in their impromptu make out session that neither heard the knock on the door followed by it being slid open.
" Christ you two. I know y'all are newlyweds, but save it for the bedroom or at the very least the back seat of your car," quipped Crockett. The two doctors parted, turning red in the face.
" Do you need something?" asked Will, awkwardly stumbling over his words.
" I need the ultrasound machine. Is that a problem?" Will turned and fumbled with the transducer, securing it in place after a few tries.
" Here you go," he said quickly, pushing the machine towards Marcel.
" Congrats on the mini crock pot by the way."
" How?" questioned a puzzled Will.
" I've had my suspicions, but you also forgot your sonograms," Crockett pointed out, handing them to Will.
" Please don't say anything. We just found out last night," pleaded Natalie.
" Your secret is safe with me. Congrats by the way," replied Crockett, exiting the room.
" He has god awful timing," Natalie pointed out.
" Agreed," spoke Will.
