It's been so long, but I'm back. Now, let's this chapter started because I've missed writing for Pokemon. Disclaimer- I do not own pokemon, and Liz Yvonne and Mark are my O.C. characters. They belong to me. Alec is DireNightFury's O.c. and belongs to him. Now, let's get ready to rumble!
Meanwhile, Serena was walking towards the fountain, awaiting something to arrive. She doesn't know what or who it was, but she can feel that it is essential. Suddenly, Serena felt something run past her as she turned around to look, but found nothing. Then, when she turned around again, she jumped back, almost shouting in shock. Standing in front of her was the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo. It hovered in the air and looked at Serena before saying, "So, you are the Chosen One's Destined Mate. It is an honor to be acquainted. As you can probably see, I am Mewtwo, and Arceus has called me to tell you what you need to do to help revive the Chosen One. Listen carefully, understand,"? Serena, while almost shaking in her boots, nodded as Mewtwo nodded back towards her before saying, "Now, the Chosen One was beloved by all pokemon, and he was known by many for three particular traits. Affection and kindness towards pokemon, no matter their backgrounds. Loyalty towards his friends, his pokemon, and his family. Finally, and this is a trait that all of us legendaries can unanimously agree on, bravery, for doing almost life-risking deeds for our sake and the sake of his friends, family, and pokemon.
Serena, your task is that you must collect three light orbs. Each one will represent a light of a particular trait. How you will acquire them is simple: only when you represent the purest trait of the Chosen One will it appear. You will collect it in this container," as Mewtwo gave Serena a container that was divided into three sections. He continued with, "When all of the light orbs are collected, they will combine and create a Life Orb. Then, Arceus will grant it the power of revival, and it will play a key role in bringing back your mate. Be cautious, for Team Rocket might find a way to thwart your efforts, so remain cautious, and do not fret. you'll know what to do when the time is right." Mewtwo then floated away before Serena could thank it for giving her the mission. She then whispered to herself, "Only when I represent the true traits of Ash...but how can I do that"? Suddenly, her attention was drawn to what sounded like shouting as she went to investigate.
Serena saw a trainer scolding what looked like his team of pokemon in a small, secluded field near the stadium. Suddenly, she felt a Pokeball shake as Noivern appeared, asking if something was wrong. She shushed him, wanting to continue listening as they both watched in silence. The trainer seemed to be from Alola because he had an Incineroar, which she could easily identify. He also had dusk from Lycanroc, along with three other pokemon she couldn't identify. one looked like an owl and seemed to be wearing a leaf bowtie. The one next to it looked like it was fused with a bunch of metal objects and seemed to have a hex nut for ahead, along with one single pupil for its eye. Finally, next to it was what looked like a dragon, but purple, spiky, and it had two arms, along with a purple stinger as its tail. They all seemed to be cowering in fear or shame as the trainer scolded them, shouting, "It's your fault we got defeated in the first round! If you all had just stayed up, we would have won. Instead, we got beaten,"!
Serena whispered to Noivern, "Looks like that trainer's scolding them for making him lose. But it's not their fault. He shouldn't be blaming his team for his loss,' as Noivern grunted in agreement. Then, the trainer pulled out what looked like a whip as he said angrily, "I've had enough of you guys losing and making me look bad! It'd time to teach you a lesson"! Serena had enough as she stormed towards the trainer, with noivern following her in the sky. Just before he could use the whip on the owl, she stood in front of it and took the hit, leaving a mark on her arm. The owl was surprised that the girl came in and saved him and the other pokemon. Noivern then landed by her and let out a fierce roar as the trainer shouted, "Get away! This is between them and me"! Serena would not budge as she responded while holding her arm in pain, "Treating your pokemon like tools is not ok! And of all things to do, you decide to whip them?! You don't deserve to be called a trainer! Trainers treat their teams with kindness and compassion, and if we lose, we use it as momentum and train for next time"!
The trainer then scoffed at her as he tossed his pokeballs to the ground, saying, "Fine, then! You like to treat them with "kindness"? Then, go right ahead! They're your problem now! Laters," as he left without looking back. Serena looked back at the now homeless pokemon, asking them if they were ok. They all nodded as the owl pokemon tackled her, trying to hug her in gratitude. She hugged it, saying, "You're welcome. No one should have to live through the pain and torture like that." The dusk form Lycanroc came towards her and licked her wound, trying to make it feel better, as the Incineroar helped her back onto her feet. At that time, Paul came by, asking, "What's all the commotion"? He noticed all the strange pokemon around Serena as she explained what had just happened. He turned his head away, saying, "Just pathetic. He doesn't deserve to be a trainer for treating his team like that, and I say that from personal experience. Is your arm ok,' as he appointed out the whip mark on her arm. She looked at it while saying, "No worries about me. You should go back to sleep."
Paul chuckled before saying, "I was actually doing some training when I heard someone shouting, which led me to you. However, now I must ask, what were you doing out here anyway"? Serena bit her tongue, not sure whether to tell him or not. He was Ash's rival, and despite their previous differences, he was a pretty nice guy, and his strength could help defeat Team Rocket. she then took in a deep breath before saying, "If I tell you, you can't tell anyone else, at least, not now. Why is for safety precautions for our friends and family. Understand"? Paul shrugged and said, "Depends on what your secret is, but as long as it's not bad, why not"? Serena then told Paul everything about what she was going through and about the legendaries were helping her revive Ash and how Team Rocket was planning some huge attack. Paul was speechless at first but then smiled, saying, "If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I can have Electivire electrocute Carl into confessing for you." Serena chuckled as she said, "Not now, but will keep that in mind once I can dump him. Thank you, Paul." Paul just smiled and turned to head back to his room before stopping and saying, 'Oh? By the way, if you and Ash get married, let me know so I can tease him about it,' as Serena blushed but broke into laughter again.
Then, Serena turned to the pokemon she saved as she knelt to their level, saying, "Since you guys now need a new home, would you like to come with me? Unlike your previous trainer, I will treat you with loving care. We all work together as a family and help each other out. What do you say"? The pokemon looked at one another before grabbing their pokeballs and giving them to her and nodding yes. Serena smiled as she called them back for a well-deserved rest. Suddenly, a glow from above caught Serena's attention as she looked up. A glowing yellow orb floated into her hands as she gasped, saying, 'This must be the kindness orb," as she put it in the container. It settled into the bottom shelf and stayed in place as Serena smiled, saying, "Two to go. Come on, Noivern. Let's go back." She hopped onto Noivern as it flew her back to the stadium.
In the morning, round two was off to a roaring start as Korrina and Bea started things off. It was a brutal back and forth brawl between the fighting type gym leaders. Korrina's Mienshao easily defeated Bea's Hitmontop, but she got revenge by using her Hawlucha to defeat Mienshao. Then, it ended in a double knockout with Korrina's Machamp and Bea's Hawlcuha, both delivering devastating karate chops to the head. Now, they were down to their last choices as Korrina was using Mega Lucario to battle against Bea's toughest pokemon: her Grappuloct. Korina remembered the advice Liz gave her earlier about Grappuloct's signature move: Octolock and how it could really crush you in its grasp. So, she came up with a clever counter for it by teaching Mega Lucario a new move: extreme speed. With it, Mega Lucario easily outwitted Grappuloct's tentacles with speed, getting them into a hilariously clever knot. It then delivered the finishing blow with aura sphere, and Grappuloct was down for the count. Once the referee made the call, Korrina ran to her Lucario, who reverted to normal, and hugged it, praising it for a great job. Meanwhile, Bea went towards Grappuloct and helped it up, saying, "Grappuloct, you battled valiantly. Thank you for your efforts," as she returned it to its Pokeball.
She then went up to Korrina with a sincere smile, saying, "I will not lie; that was an impressive strategy. You bested me. However, next time, I will defeat you in battle. Rematch soon"? Korrina and Lucario nodded as the Shalour city gym leader smiled, saying, "You bet"! They both shook hands as the crowd cheered loudly for them. Throughout the rest of the day, many matches came and went, bringing excitement and amazement to the audience. Hapu easily defeated Clemont with help from her Golurk and Mudsdale. Brock and Hop had a fun match, with Mega Steelix defeating Dubwool in the end with a strong stone edge. Paul pulled a turn-around victory by having Electivire use thunder on Mega Charizard X when using blast burn after losing his Magmortar and Honchkrow to Alain's Mega Tyranitar and Metagross. Proton easily crushed Mark's team, much to my dismay, and Carl decimated Cameron's team, using only a Machoke to beat his Samurott, Swanna, and Lucario. Despite Gladion's best effort, Tobias's Darkrai defeated Silvally in the end, allowing him access into round three. Sawyer defeated Tyson's Meowth with frenzy plant in the end, and while it was a struggle losing Skarmory and Hitmonlee on the first choice, Barry and Empoleon were able to defeat Laura's team of psychic types. Iris and Tracey's match was incredible, and the bout between Mega Scizor and Mega Garchomp was incredible. Still, in the end, an earthquake defeated Scizor and knocked Tracey out of the tournament. With help from Snowy, her Alolan Ninetails, Lille beat Nando's Kricketune with a critical hit from a blizzard.
At the moment, the conclusion of Katie and May's match was going on. Katie had already lost her Flareon and Ludicolo while May had lost her Blastoise and Venusaur. Their remaining pokemon were Katie's shiny Alazakam vs. May's Blaziken. They both had mega evolved, and now, it was a battle of wits. Mega Blaziken fired off a flamethrower as Mega Alakazam intercepted with a powerful psybeam, creating a stalemate. Then, in the smoke, thanks to Mega Blaziken's speed boost, it ran into the smoke and delivered the finishing blow with shadow claw. Mega Alakazam remained floating in the air before collapsing and returning to normal. When May was announced the winner, she and Blaziken hugged one another as Katie praised her Alakazam for a valiant effort. They both shook hands in the middle of the field as Katie rose May's arm up, signifying the Hoenn native's win and her respect towards her. It was finally time for my match against Alec. Ours was the last one of the day, which gave him and me plenty of time to prepare.
Empoleon and Ethan, Alec's Umbreon, were sitting with Serena in the stands while Aveon was on my shoulder. I held a Pokeball near my chest and took a deep breath before walking out to the field. As we did, the announcer said, "This is it, folks! Our last and most exciting match of the day! Two trainers, both from Kalos's own Snowbelle City, well-known for their strength throughout many regions. Liz, two time Kalos Champion, trainer prodigy, and coordinator icon, has wowed up before in round one with an easy victory over Virgil. Will she wow us again by defeating Alec Kirkland? Or will upcoming prodigy Alec find a way to defeat her and be the second trainer ever known for defeating Liz"? Alec and I both looked at each other with a determined look and nodded, promising a great match. The referee then came and explained the rules before telling us to bring out our pokemon.
At the same time, we both released our first choices, which ended up being a Sceptile for Alec, and as for me, I decided to start with Toucannon. It developed an eye infection as a Trumbeak and lost its sight after it evolved. However, I wasn't ready to give up on him, and through exceptional training, have helped it learn to battle and fly without sight. Alec could tell that Toucannon was blind as he was stunned, thinking to himself, Why is she battling with a blind pokemon?
Once the referee called for the match to begin, Alec shouted, "Root, use leaf blade," as his Sceptile charged in with speed. I smirked, saying, "Toucannon, take to the sky and use flame charge"! At the last second, Toucannon flew up, dodging the move and hitting Root in the chest with a potent flame charge. Alec was shocked but impressed nonetheless as he says, "So it can battle and move without needing to see. Impressive, but it's going to take more than that to take down Root." Root got up and roared, showing its toughness as I nodded, accepting the challenge.
I shouted, "Use beak blast," as Toucannon began to heat its beak. Alec was quick to respond, having Root use dragon claw. It connected, but Toucannon stayed strong as my smirk grew deeper. A red aura surrounded Root as it cried in pain, shouting [ Oh Arceus! This burn is nasty ]! Alec grew confused as to how Root got burned as I explained, "See brother, if a pokemon makes contact while its opponent is charging up a beak blast, they get burned as a result. Now Toucannon, fire"! Toucannon fired the move as Root quickly used aerial ace to break it up right before contact.
However, the burn was making an impact, slowing it down. Alec asked in concern, "Are you able to continue," as Root nodded in response. Alec smiled as he says, "In that case, use brick break," as Root charged in with the move. In response, I said, "Toucannon, intercept with rock smash," as both moves collided, creating smoke. I shielded my eyes with my wings as Alec covered his eyes with his arms. Something caught my attention as I shouted, "Use flame charge," as Toucannon hit Root dead on while doing something impressive. It ended up using the move to lift Root into the sky before making it fall and collide with the ground hard.
Root muttered [ Man. She is not kidding around ] before looking up to realize that Toucannon was coming straight towards it. I said with a smile, "Wrap it up with aerial ace," as Toucannon dove down to use the move. However, Alec wasn't ready to go down without a fight as he shouted, "Quick! Use dragon claw," as Root prepared to use it. Both moves collided again as more dust settled on the field. Once it was clear to see again, what Alec and I saw made our jaws drop. On the ground, Root and Toucannon laid with swirls in their eyes. The referee shouted, "Both pokemon are unable to continue," as the crowd roared in amazement.
We called back our pokemon before grabbing our second choice and calling them out at the same time. For Alec, he chose a Greninja, which he called Stealth. I decided to use Meganium, who was ready to battle and make Ash proud. Alec and I both shouted at the call of the referee, 'Use water shuriken/use energy ball"! Both moves collided, creating smoke on the battlefield. I then shouted, "Meganium, jump and use body slam," as the fully evolved Johto starter jumped high and crushed Stealth with a potent body slam. He groaned in pain, saying [Feels like 50 Chesnaughts on my stomach] as Meganuim retorted [Can't take it? Don't win] as it jumped off. Stealth brushed it off but winced in pain; that body slam was more effective than he originally thought. Alec noticed this and shouted, "Use ice punch," as Stealth charged in with the ice type move.
I was ready as I replied, 'Grab its legs with a vine whip and slam it to the ground"! Meganium used vine whip and caught Stealth by its feet just inches upon impact and slammed it repeatedly to the ground. Stealth cried out [Alec! Do! Something! Quick], as Alec responded by shouting, 'Create some distance by using extrasensory on the ground"! Stealth used the move and elevated itself up and away from Meganium. It dropped to a knee and panted in exhaustion before standing back up, ready to fight again. Alec then called for Stealth to use night slash as I replied, "Surround yourself with leaf storm now"! Meganium surrounded its entire body with the move as Stealth went in and sliced right through it before he and Alec realized the impossible. Meganium was gone! It only took a minute for Stealth to look up as Meganium was diving towards it, a potent body slam set as he commented [Oh Arceus].
I called for the move, and Meganium collided into Stealth, landing a critical hit. Alec could only look on to see that Meganium was able to beat Stealth with little effort. Meganium got off Stealth as the referee made the call. I praised Meganium for a great job as Alec returned Stealth for a rest. He then smiled, saying, "Not bad. I was definitely not expecting Meganium to be that agile or move that quick either"1 I smiled, replying, "Well, we've done some special training together to master that technique. The leaf storm tornado cover was an old trick I picked up at the Coumarine gym. Alec chuckled before saying, "Not bad, but now, it's time to get serious. Flame, you're my last hope! Let's win this," as the almost 9ft Charizard let out a humongous roar, shaking the stadium to its knees. Meganium almost stood in fear, commenting [I don't think I can beat this guy! Liz, return me, please! I don't want to die]! I could see the fear in its eyes as I came to Meganium and petted it, trying to calm it down. I saw the Charizard, and internally, I was frightened too. I couldn't let Meganium battle if it didn't want to. so, I then did something that I never thought I would ever do and alerted the referee, saying, "Ref, I'm forfeiting Meganium." Everyone in the audience gasped, Serena and Empoleon gasped, Aveon gasped, even Alec and Ethan gasped. The referee was surprised but responded with, "Meganium is unable to battle via TKO." The announcer commented, "What is going on? Liz has forfeited one of her pokemon. Has Afinal choice shaken her confidence? What is going on through her mind"?
Meganium looked at me in sadness, but I smiled, saying, "Don't be upset. I can tell you were terrified, and who am I force anyone to battle if they are shaken to the core? It'll be ok. We'll still win. For now, rest up because you did a great job." I returned Meganium to its Pokeball, and Alec, who saw what was going on, smiled. He said to himself. Wow, she may not understand what they say, but she can understand their emotions and mentally connect with them. Funny, she's a lot like me in a way. Now, it's time to finish this with a great battle. I looked at alec before taking a deep breath and grabbing my final choice out of my pocket. There was only one pokemon I wanted to win this final match with as I shouted, "Alright, let's go"! Out of the Pokeball appeared a pokemon no one thought I would choose to face a Charizard: my Lucario.
Alec and Flame were confused as the announcer said, 'Our final bout is Charizard vs. Lucario. Going by matchup alone, Charizard can easily win, but Liz has beaten her opponents while at a disadvantage before. Will she be able to defeat Alec, or will he defeat her"? Lucario looked at me and could sense how I felt as it smiled and nodded towards me, reassuring me that we could win this. I smiled and nodded back, saying, 'One hit. We're going to win this with one hit. And we know which move to use, right"? It nodded again as I said, "Well then, Lucario, let's win this"! It flipped onto the battlefield and was ready to fight. Flame let out a flamethrower to assert his dominance, commenting [You may be a champion's pokemon, but Alec and i have been together since the beginning. He saved me from the thresholds of evil and showed me the light. Now, we're about to show you what we are capable of]. Lucario did a bring it on motion while commenting [Show me, then].
The referee then called for the match to begin as Alec has Flame use flamethrower towards Lucario. We nodded in perfect synchronicity as it lept up to dodge. Flame kept firing flamethrowers, hoping to hit Lucario but kept missing as Lucario kept running around, making it hard to have a precise point on him. Alec then shouted, "don't get distracted by its speed! Use dragon claw"! Flame's claws began to glow green as it flew towards Lucario. It winked and jumped back, spinning past Flame, surprising alec and causing Flame to collide with the ground. Alec made sure Flame was ok as his Charizard nodded and let out a cry of determination. Alec then shouted, "Use focus punch"!
Once again, Charizard kept aiming for Lucario with glowing fists, but the steel/fighting type kept dodging with ease. Flame began to grow weary as he shouted in frustration [Let! Me! Hit! You! Stop! Dodging! Will you]?! After another dodge, I smirked, seeing how exhausted Flame was as it dropped to a knee, panting really hard. Alec then looked at Flame, saying, 'In that case, let's get even stronger"! He pressed his keystone and shouted, 'Beyond the bonds of evolution, mega evolve"! Flame glowed and transformed, but instead of becoming one of the forms of Mega Charizard, its mega evolution form was a combination of both. I was surprised, but I still had my game plan set. We were going to end this with one hit, whether our opponent mega evolved or not. Lucario looked at me and nodded, ready to end this as I nodded back, telling it, 'Draw it in, then strike."
Meanwhile, Alec shouted, 'Now, use focus punch! Let's end this"! Flame came flying in at almost supersonic speed, a potent focus punch ready to strike. Lucario waited till Charizard was inches away from him before smirking. I then shouted, 'Use stone edge! Let's finish this,' as Lucario punched the ground, and just before Flame could land its focus punch, it got hit by multiple stone pillars, and a huge stone edge explosion knocked it right into the wall behind Alec. Alec called Flame's name out in worry as his Charizard slumped to the ground, returning to normal. The referee cried out, "Charizard is unable to battle! Lucario is the winner! The match goes to Liz"! The audience went wild as the announcer cried out, "Wow! After avoiding all of Charizard's super-effective attacks, Lucario landed a massive one-hit KO with a powerful stone edge, allowing Liz to move on to round three"! I was so excited as I ran up to Lucario and hugged it, saying, 'Buddy, you're the best! Great job,' as it grunted its happiness as well.
Alec was shocked beyond belief. No one had ever beaten Flame like that before, much less in one hit. He went up to Flame, saying, "Great job, Flame. You were really great. Take a good rest," as he returned Flame to its Pokeball for a long rest. He then looked at Lucario and me and came towards us, saying, 'Well, you bested me. No one has ever defeated Flame like that before. I think Flame now sees Lucario as a rival. Let's have a rematch soon, all right"? I nodded, saying, "You bet, brother." I hugged him as he was a little surprised, but happy as he accepted the hug. A little while later, we had healed up our pokemon as Serena came to see us. Ethan went with Alec as he commented [That was a great battle] while Alec thanked Ethan for his comment. Aveon nuzzled my cheek as Empoleon clapped its wings, meaning that it loved the battle. Suddenly, the announcer appeared on the TV screen, saying, "After an exciting second round, we can now share our third round matchups. Pay attention to the pictures on the screen, and see how your opponent will be." The pictures of the remaining contestants were shuffled around before organized into their brackets. Once they were revealed, my jaw dropped, and Empoleon gasped, as well as Alec and Serena. While many other contestants were in the brackets too, May was facing Korrina. Iris was battling Sawyer, Proton was battling Carl. Paul was battling Barry, Lillie was battling Hapu, and finally, I was going to face Tobias. Now, more than ever, I needed to win, not just to move on in the tournament, but to help Empoleon regain its honor.
