The Imperial State Troopers are the backbone of the Imperial State of Terra Armed Forces.
They are considered much better than standard Galactic Imperial Stormtroopers. Their armor was based on the Shoretrooper, a special type of trooper that was fielded by the Galactic Empire on ocean planets.
The armor came with twelve pieces; The black body glove, knee and lower leg armor, two flexible armored hand guards for the back of the troopers hands, Shoulder armor, arm guards, utility belt, body armor, and the helmet. Unlike armor worn by Galactic Imperial Stormtroopers, the Imperial State Trooper armor is much looser and allows the wearer greater mobility and flexibility when in a fight.
The helmet of the Imperial State Trooper is specialized for planetary roles. Its shape and design give the trooper a wide horizontal peripheral vision, the slight bulge on the forehead also gives the soldier a thicker barrier between their head and the outside elements.
The shape of the helmet allows for it to have an air filter that can filter out both smoke and toxins. This works by either the user pressing a button on the back of the helmet or when the helmet detects a foreign substance entering the re-breather. When this happens the helmet pressurizes itself and immediately begins to filter out the foul air before it switches to filtering the air from outside the suit.
While it is not meant to, the helmet of the Imperial State Trooper can-when the situation calls for it-work within the vacuum of space in emergency situations. However as stated the helmet is not designed for this and as such the pressurization must be activated manually by the wearer. When this happens the helmet gives the wearer approximately ten minutes of oxygen. The rest of the armor that the Imperial State Trooper wears can take several hits before a blaster bolt pierces the armor. However due to the looser armor a well placed hit can kill the trooper.
The armor can be fitted with several add-on's; a radio pack, heavy weapons pack, flame pack, medical pack, and magnetically clamped boots.
During training every Imperial State Trooper is taught how to use all of these pieces of equipment. Special equipment will be given to Imperial State Troopers after mission briefings for operations on slave rings, illegal spice mines, Pirate hideouts, or long term assignments such as a planetary garrison. The type of armor color and pattern may also be switched out depending on the climate of the planet.
On ocean planets the color of the armor is the generic beige color.
On desert planets the armor is given multiple colors of dark yellow and orange, the pattern of these are either a blotchy, pixel, or triangle camouflage pattern.
Volcanic planets are given black or very dark grey camouflage in one solid color.
Forest planets have a large mixture of green and brown camouflage pattern as well as small nets that Imperial State Troopers cover with foliage such as leaves, twigs, and grass for an added layer of camouflage.
Last but not least is the snow planet camouflage. It's just a generic solid white. Maybe light grey if the planet has mountainous regions but other than that there is nothing special. The Imperial State Troopers who get assigned to snow planets however live in-sometimes underground-specialized biospheres that are connected to their main bases.
The weapons of the Imperial State Trooper are decided by their scores in training for both physical tests, weapons tests, and even in some cases trust exercises.
Those who show that they are capable in terms of strength and trusting their squadmates are given the T-21 light blaster cannon. This is because while 'light' is in the name, it is anything but. It also comes with a heavy weapons pack that is connected to the gun to keep it from overheating and allow it to shoot a much larger amount of laser bolts. The reason why trust is so important is because users of the T-21 need to know that they can count on their squad to lay down covering fire so they can use their heavy weapon.
Those who are given the E-17d sniper rifle need high accuracy scores as well as good observation skills. This is because a lot of the times those with a sniper are attached to an armored unit and can call in accurate artillery strikes to take out fortified enemy positions.
Those who show an average score in most categories are given the BLT-20A Medium blaster rifle. These weapons are a good middle ground between the two previously mentioned blasters. As a side arm the Imperial State Trooper is given a S-195 Blaster Pistol.
There are also different types of careers you can take after enlisting in the Imperial State of Terra Armed Forces.
Imperial State Troopers can become a part of the Armored Corps who use AAT's to support their fellow brothers and sisters in arms when on the battlefield. There are also the Combat Engineers, these soldiers make the Imperial State Troopers run smoothly. Without them equipment would be in disrepair and facilities, motor pools, bunkers and other important infrastructure would be nonexistent.
After graduation, Imperial State Troopers from any Corps can join the officer academy and lead large numbers of soldiers.
The career of the Imperial State Trooper is hard and demanding at times but it is also rewarding.
