The next day, Caleb, who was extremely tired, was sitting on a bench in the park. He eyes were heavy and he had bags under them. He was drinking an energy drink to help keep him awake for the rest of the day. He had no sleep last night. He wishes that he was dead.
Rjay: Yo! Caleb!
Caleb suddenly heard Rjay shout out his name. He looks over and see Rjay jogging towards him with a smile on his face. Caleb silently groans. Rjay was the last person he wanted to see today. Rjay stands in front of him.
Caleb: ...Hey Rjay...
Caleb said with a gloomy tone. Rjay notices his tired eyes.
Rjay: Whoa! Caleb, are you alright? You don't look so good.
Caleb: No, I'm fine.
Caleb said while rubbing his eyes.
Caleb: It's just that I got no sleep last night.
Rjay sits next to him.
Rjay: Well, tell me about it man. What's going on with ya? Did what happened yesterday traumatized you?
Caleb: No...
Rjay: Did you had a nightmare?
Caleb: No...
Rjay: Did you see shadow demons in your room?
Caleb: No.
Caleb was getting annoyed.
Rjay: Were there clowns in your closet that did that clown car thing where more and more clowns keeps coming out of the car, but in your case your closet?
Caleb: NO!
Rjay: Then what is it?
Caleb sits up and looks at Rjay in the eyes.
Caleb: Look, if I tell you, will you please go away?
Rjay: Alright, geez, I will. What was it that keep up you up last night?
Caleb leans back on the bench.
Caleb: I just had alot of things on my mind, that's all.
Rjay: What kind of things?
Caleb: ...
Caleb goes quiet for a moment.
Caleb: Just...things...
Rjay: Come on, tell me. What were you thinking about?
Seeing now that Rjay won't stop bugging him if he doesn't tell him the truth, he decided to let it out. Caleb looks around and sees no one in sight. He even observed the trees closely. He looked back Rjay. He moves closer to him and starts whispering.
Caleb: Alright, I'll tell you. But what ever you do, don't tell anyone about this! Got it?
Rjay: Got it!
Caleb: Good.
Caleb looks around one more time before turning back to Rjay. Rjay was confused about what he was so worried about.
Caleb: Well, you see...uh...well...
Caleb was nervous.
Caleb: It's about Renamon.
Rjay: Does she scare you?
Caleb: No no! That's not it! It's the exact opposite actually. You see, I think I...um...
He was too afraid to say it. But there was no turning back now.
Caleb: ...I think I've...fallen for her...
Rjay: YOU WHA-?!
Caleb slaps his hand over Rjay's mouth to shut him up.
Caleb: Shhh!
He takes his hand off of Rjay's mouth.
Rjay: Oh, sorry.
Rjay: Wait, for real?! Renamon?!
Caleb: I know, I know...God...I'm so embarrassed...
Rjay: You do realize what she is, right? She's not human! Why her?! Hell, I don't even think she is a her! I haven't seen any boobs on her!
Caleb lays back and speaks in his normal voice.
Caleb: I don't know man. There's just something about her that's drawing me in.
Rjay: What is it?
Caleb: I don't know. I can't put my finger on it.
Rjay lays back with him. They sat in silence, taking in the fact that Caleb has feelings for Renamon, a person who's species is different from his.
Rjay: So...you love her that much that you stayed up all night thinking about her, huh?
Caleb: ...Yeah...
They sat there in awkward silence for a moment.
Rjay: Let me help you.
Caleb looks at Rjay confused.
Caleb: Huh?
Rjay: I said let me help you!
Caleb: With what?
Rjay: Hooking up with her!
Caleb: Wait, are you serious?
Rjay: Yeah bro!
Caleb: You're not grossed out by this?
Rjay: Nah man! Love is love to me. If you love her that much, then go for it! There's nothing wrong with loving someone else! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
Caleb: You know what? You're right!
Caleb's mood became more positive.
Caleb: There is nothing wrong with falling in love with someone! Even if they're a monster made out of 1's and 0's!
Caleb hops up off the bench and stands tall.
Caleb: That's it! I've made up my mind! I'm gonna ask Renamon out!
Rjay: Yeah! That's the spirit!
Caleb realizes something.
Caleb: Wait...
Rjay: Huh?
Caleb: There's a problem.
Rjay: What?
Caleb flops back down on the bench. His spirit has died down.
Caleb: I don't know the first thing about hooking up with women.
Rjay: Well, that's where I come in. I'm going to show you how to get the girl!
Caleb: You will?
Rjay: Heck yeah! I'm not gonna leave a brother hanging!
Caleb: Thanks man.
Caleb and Rjay fist bumps. Even their Stands came out and fist bumped each other.
Rjay: And don't you worry. I know exactly what I'm doing! I've rewatched all of Johnny Bravo recently! That's how you know I'm a professional!
All of Caleb's hopes flew out the window.
Caleb: You...wha...?
One hour later, Caleb and Rjay were standing outside the café looking for women so they practice on getting a date. Caleb has a notepad ready to take notes.
Rjay: Alright, first lesson. If you want to hook up with someone, all it takes is confidence and skills. You want to act cool and give them a flirty comment.
They see a woman with black hair walk out of the café. She was walking in their direction.
Rjay: Watch this.
Rjay looks over to the woman.
Rjay: Hey baby! Are you an angel?
The woman completely ignored Rjay as she walked by. They watched as she walked away.
Caleb: That worked well.
He said sarcastically.
Rjay: No no, it's fine. They do that sometimes. If that doesn't work, try putting your arms around her. A lady likes to be in the arms of a strong and handsome man.
They see another woman with blonde walk out of the café. She walks past them.
Rjay: Observe.
Rjay catches up to the woman. He comes up behind her and wraps his left arm around her shoulders. He scared the living crap out of her.
Rjay: Hey baby! Are you an angel?
Woman: GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF ME, CREEP!
The woman breaks out of his hug and knees him in his dick. Rjay falls to the ground groaning in pain with his hands over his privates. The woman runs away, leaving Rjay on the ground. Caleb walks up to Rjay and squats down next to him.
Caleb: Nah man. I think she's the devil.
Rjay: G-Good point...
More hours have passed. They were back at the park. They were hiding behind a tree, peeking out and watching the people walk by.
Rjay: Now the next thing you want to do is something that we've already been doing. Being heroes! A lady likes a man who always ready for action! They see a brown haired woman carrying a white purse walk by. She was looking down at her phone.
Rjay: Perfect! Let's practice using her. I'll snatch her purse and run. I want you to chase me and get it back for her.
Caleb: Rjay, that's mean!
Rjay: Don't worry! Just do what I say and everything will be fine! Here I go!
Rjay runs after the woman. He snatched her purse out of her arm and makes a run for it.
Woman: Hey, my purse! Thief!
Rjay keeps running. He looks back expecting Caleb to chase him. Suddenly, someone in front of him punched him, causing him to fall to the ground and drop the purse. The man punched him hard. Rjay looked up and saw the man that punched him. It wasn't Caleb. It was a tall man with black short hair wearing a black t-shirt and bluejeans. He bends down and picks up the purse. The woman runs over to him.
Man: Is this your purse?
Woman: It is! Oh, thank you so much!
Man: No problem.
While handing over the bag, they touched hands. Instead letting go, they held hands and looked at each other in the eyes. They started blushing.
Man: H-Hey...
Woman: Hey...
Man: Would you like to...you know...get some coffee?
Woman: I'd love to.
Man: Great!
The man and woman walked off together madly in love. Rjay was laying on ground with a bruise on his face. Caleb walks over and squats down next to him.
Caleb: Well, what do you? It worked!
Rjay groaned in pain.
An hour later, they were on the sidewalk sitting down on a bench. Rjay held a icepack over his bruise. Caleb was reviewing what he learned on his notepad. He shakes his head and looks at Rjay.
Caleb: I don't know man. I don't think these would work. I mean, Renamon is completely different person compared to other women.
Rjay: Yeah, you're right. Sorry dude. I've taught you all I know.
Caleb leans back and sighs.
Caleb: What am I going to do now?
Rika: Hey guys!
They suddenly heard Rika's voice. They looked over and sees Rika alone walking towards them with a plastic bag in her hand. She stands next to them.
Caleb: Hey Rika.
Rika: What are y'all doing?
Rjay: I'm helping him hook up with someone.
Rika: Really? Anyone in particular?
Rjay: Yeah, Rena-
Shining Justice's foot appears out of nowhere and stomps Rjay's foot, reminding him not to tell anyone.
Rjay: Oh, uh...actually that's what we're trying to find out.
Rika: Yeah? Well, you can forget asking me out, because I'm not interested.
Caleb: Fine by me. I'm not that desperate.
Caleb looks down and notices the bag in her hand. There was something in there. It looked like a to-go plate you get from a restaurant if you wanted to take food with you.
Caleb: What's that you got there?
Rika raises the plastic bag up to show them.
Rika: Oh this? Fried Tofu.
Caleb: Fried Tofu?
Rika: Yeah. Renamon's favorite. She asked me to get some for her.
Caleb: Fried Tofu, huh?
Caleb said in a menacing tone of voice.
Rika: Y-Yeah..?
Caleb had a idea. He turns back to his notepad and flips to a new blank page. He takes his pen out his pocket and start writing.
Rjay: Hm?
Rika: What are you doing?
Caleb finishes writing.
Caleb: I got it!
Rjay: Got what?
Caleb: A gift! A gift is the perfect way to show your feelings for another!
Rjay: Oh yeah, you're right! I completely forgot about that!
Caleb looks back at Rika.
Caleb: Rika, you're a girl. What would you consider the perfect gift? Besides food?
Rika thinks for a moment.
Rika: Well, I'd say something expensive. Maybe a ring, or a necklace?
Caleb: A necklace!
Caleb goes back to writing in his notepad. He finishes writing and closes his notepad. He shots up off the bench and turns to Rika. He bows to her to thank her.
Caleb: Thank you Rika! You've been really helpful! Thank you! Sorry to run off like this, but need to go!
Caleb walked away in a hurry. Rjay and Rika watched him walk away. They looked at each other and shrugs. Some time passes. Caleb was standing outside of a jewelry store. He wallet was full of his uncle's cash. His uncle said if he ever needed money, he could borrow some from his bank account. Caleb took a bit too much though.
Caleb: (Sorry about this, uncle Leo.)
Caleb pushes open the front doors and enters the jewelry store. He looks around, amazed by the fancy interior and decorations. He walks up to the glass counter. He looks through the glass and sees a large number of selections of jewelry. He sees rings, necklaces, and earrings all displayed neatly. They weren't cheap too. He was lucky that he took a few more extra dollars from his uncle's bank account. While he was looking at the jewelry, a man behind the counter wearing a black tuxedo walks up to Caleb.
Employee: Can I help you sir?
Caleb looks back up and sees the employee standing in front of him.
Caleb: Oh, hi! Uh...Yeah, I'm looking for a gift for a "special someone." If you know what I mean.
Employee: Oh, I see what you mean. I may have something for you.
The employee kneels down and opens a drawer underneath the counter. He grabs a small black box and closes the drawer. He stands back up and places the box on the counter, then he opens it and shows it to Caleb. Inside was a silver ring with a small diamond in it.
Employee: This here ring is the perfect gift for your lover. It is especially popular on Valentines. What do you think?
Caleb was examining the ring carefully. Sure, it was a beautiful ring, but Caleb doubts that it would even fit Renamon's finger.
Caleb: I like it, but I'm actually looking for something else, like a necklace. See, the girl I'm interested in has a...um..."finger problem."
Employee: Oh, I see. My apologies sir.
The employee closes the box and puts it back in the drawer. He grabs multiple black boxes from the drawer and places them on the counter. He opens them one by one. Inside them were different kinds of necklace. But not one catches his attention. They were all standard and boring like.
Caleb: Is this all y'all have?
Employee: No sir. We have more.
The employee grabs more boxes and places them on the counter. He opens them, but they were only more dull necklaces. Caleb was about to give up on getting a necklace, till one necklace catches his attention. It was a silver necklace with a sapphire gem inside it. The gem reminded Caleb of her eyes. He points to the necklace.
Caleb: Hey, what about this one?
Employee: Hm? Oh, that one. I must've grabbed it by accident.
The employee closes the box and puts it back in the drawer.
Employee: Sorry sir. But that one's not for sell. Someone had already ordered it.
Caleb: You don't have any more?
The employee shakes his head.
Employee: That was the last one. Sorry sir, but you'll have to choose a something else.
Suddenly, the phone on the wall started ringing.
Employee: One moment sir.
The employee walks over to the phone and answers it. Caleb sighs in disappointment. He was about to give up on getting a gift and leave, till he hears the employee apologizing on the phone.
Employee: I'm sorry to hear that, sir.
Caleb listen quietly.
Employee: Cancel the order?
Employee: ...
Employee: Yes sir. I will. Thank you for calling. Goodbye.
The employee hangs up the phone then walks back to Caleb.
Employee: Well sir, it looks like today's your lucky day.
The employee opens the drawer and takes the box that has the necklace in back out on the counter.
Employee: The man that ordered this necklace called and told me to cancel the order. It seems like his girlfriend broke up with him. He sounded pretty upset. Anyway, if you're still interested, the necklace is all yours. For a price that is.
Caleb: I'll take it!
Caleb did felt a bit guilty for snatching the necklace from the man on the phone. He was about to buy it and give it to his girlfriend as a gift, but things didn't go so well for him, then Caleb came and took the necklace at the last second. But this was Caleb's only chance. He pays the employee. The employee takes the box and puts it in a plastic bag and hands it to Caleb
Caleb: Thanks.
Caleb turns and heads towards the exit.
Employee: Come again!
Caleb leaves the store and out into the street. He was lucky that he was about to buy the necklace. He takes out his notepad and pen from his pockets and starts crossing a few things out.
Caleb: (Nice! Now to get Fried Tofu. Rika said that it was Renamon's favorite.)
While Caleb was writing in his notepad, he looks down and see that his shoes were untied.
Caleb: (Ugh. Dang it.)
He kneels down and places his notepad and the plastic bag down next to him. He focuses on tying his shoes. Suddenly, he heard the plastic bag rustling, like something was tearing through it. He looks over to the bag and sees a giant hole torn into the plastic bag. He grabs it and looks into it.
Caleb: What the-?!
Caleb immediately notices that the box containing the necklace was gone. He puts the bag down and looks around on the ground. He doesn't see it anywhere. Someone had stole his necklace. He looks down the street and sees something small running away with someone black in its hands.
Caleb: Hey!
Caleb runs after whatever that stole his necklace. The small thing running around the corner. Caleb follows it. He gets close enough to whatever slote his box. He was now curtain that that was his box. But whatever that was carrying the box caught his attention.
Caleb: Wait, what is that thing?
It was a small purple creature that was the size of a mouse. Its body was round as a ball. It has red gloves on its hands and red boots on its feet. It has a yellow smiley face on the front of its round body. It was carrying the box over its small body.
Caleb: Is that a Stand?
Suddenly, another small creature that looks just like the one Caleb is chasing and runs up next to the other one.
Caleb: There's two of them?!
The other one was carrying a wallet with a skull on it and a small chain hanging from it. The wallet looked awfully familiar to him. Suddenly, he heard someone yelling at the top of their lungs. He looks back and sees Rjay charging towards him like a raging bull.
Rjay: YOU BETTER COME BACK HERE WITH MY WALLET, YOU LITTLE SHIT-BALL!
Caleb: Rjay?!
Rjay notices Caleb and runs up next to him.
Rjay: Caleb? What're you doing here?
Caleb: I could ask you the same thing. Did that thing stole your wallet?
Rjay: Yeah! I was about to buy ice cream from Diary King and when took out my wallet, that little shit-ball jumped up and snatched it out of my hands! But looks like I wasn't the one that was robbed. What did they take from you?
Caleb: The necklace I was going to give to Renamon.
Rjay: Well shit! We've got to get that back!
They continued to run after the two little critters. Suddenly, three more of them appears and runs along with the other two. They were also carrying something valuable.
Rjay: There's more of them?!
And then even more showed up and ran together, all carrying something valuable over their little bodies. There were so many in front of them.
Caleb: There's so many!
Caleb and Rjay kept their distance as they followed the small army of creatures carrying small valuables. The creatures turned and ran down an wide alleyway. Caleb stops and peeks around the corner. Rjay was about to charge down the alleyway till Caleb stops him by using Shining Justice to drag him back.
Caleb: Hold on!
Rjay: What? What is it?
Caleb: Look.
Caleb and Rjay peeks around the corner.
Rjay: G-Gah! What the-?!
Down the alleyway were even more small creatures. There were hundreds of them! One by one, they were throwing the valuables that they have stolen down an open manhole. Caleb sees the necklace he bought get thrown down into the sewers. Caleb and Rjay were quietly watching till they heard a voice come out of nowhere.
???: Yahaha! Good work boys! It is so much easier to snatch things from people with you guys!
Caleb and Rjay can't see who's the one talking. It sounded like a male's voice with a Brooklyn accent. They kept watching the creatures tossing the valuables into the manhole. After they finish throwing all the valuables into the manhole, the little critters scattered. Some climbed up the building's walls up to the roof, and some ran into a mouse sized hole in the buildings. After they all vanished from sight, only silence filled the air. They left the manhole uncovered and unprotected. Caleb and Rjay left their hiding spot and crept towards the manhole. They reached the manhole and looked down inside. They were surprised by what they saw. On the sewer's floor were countless amounts of small valuables piled up like a small mountain.
Rjay: Dude, no way... Look how much stuff is in here! You can probably make a small fortune with this!
As they were inspiring the amount of loot, Caleb looks over and sees the black box containing the necklace. Rjay's wallet was laying right next to it.
Caleb: Look, there's our stuff! Let's just grab them and get out of here.
Rjay: Right.
Caleb reaches his left arm down the manhole. It wasn't enough to grab it, so he summons Shining Justice's arm for extra reach.
Caleb: Almost got it...!
He was so close to grabbing their things, till the voice they heard earlier shouts at them.
???: Hey! What're you nitwits think you're doing?!
Caleb and Rjay stop what they're doing and look up. They see someone standing over the edge on the roof looking down at them. Whatever that was looking at them was not human. It was a creature that about the size of a toddler. Its entire body is purple, save for its white face, green eyes, the yellow smiley face on its stomach and the white claws on its feet. It wears red gloves and a red neckerchief. It has a tail and large pointed ears. Caleb brings his arm back out the manhole and stands up with Rjay.
Rjay: W-What... is that thing..?
Caleb: Yeah, what is it?
The creature had its arms crossed.
???: I hope you two are not planning on taking my things, right?
Rjay: Wha?! Your things?! What are you talking about?! Those aren't yours! You stole them!
???: Bah! Finders keepers, losers weepers! They should've kept a close eye on their things!
Rjay gets mad and was about to charge after the creature, till Caleb stops him with a raise of a arm.
Caleb: Hold on Rjay. We don't know what we're dealing with.
Caleb looks back up at the creature.
Caleb: Look, just let us have our things back. It won't hurt to give back a few things. After that, we'll stay out of your business.
Caleb then kneels back down and attempts to reach for their stuff, till the creature barks at him.
???: Ah-Ah-Ah! Not so fast! That's all mine! Touch even a single penny and I'll get my army on you!
Rjay: Oh yeah? What army?!
???: What do you think? The U.S. Army? No! My army!
Before they knew it, Caleb and Rjay were surrounded by the tiny creatures that they chased earlier. They were overwhelmed by how many there were surrounding them.
Caleb: So they belong to you.
???: Heck yeah they do! Meet my boys! I didn't bother naming every single one of them, so I called them Yankee Doodle Dandy! Anything I say, they do. Now it's probably time to introduce myself.
Impmon: The name's Impmon. And don't you forget it!
Something about Impmon's name suddenly reminded Caleb of Renamon's name. They both end with "mon."
Caleb: Hey, you wouldn't happen to a Digimon, are you?
Impmon: So what if I am? Got a problem with it?
Caleb: Heh. Not really. It's just that we know a friend that's just like you.
Impmon: Oh really? That's swell.
Impmon said sarcastically.
Impmon: Now beat it! Or my boys will be doing most of the beating!
Rjay: We're not going anywhere till we have our shit back!
Impmon: Hmph! Fine, you asked for it! Boys!
Impmon was about to tell Yankee Doodle Dandy to attack them, till Caleb stopped him.
Caleb: Hold on! Before you attack us, how about a deal?
Impmon: Hm? A deal?
Rjay looks at Caleb.
Rjay: What are you doing?
Caleb looks back at Rjay.
Caleb: Trust me on this.
Caleb and Rjay look back up at Impmon.
Impmon: Alright, I'm listening.
Caleb: If you let us have our stuff back, we'll do anything you say for the next three hours. Deal?
Impmon starts thinking for a moment.
Impmon: Hmm... I don't know.
Caleb: Maybe this will help with your decision.
Caleb summons Shining Justice next to him.
Impmon: Oh!
Impmon was surprised. Rjay then summons Road Warrior next to him.
Caleb: Well?
Impmon continues to think for a moment.
Impmon: Hmm... Maybe I could make good use of you two. Alright, fine! It's a deal!
Caleb: Good!
Shining Justice and Road Warrior returns to their respective owners.
Rjay: Are you about this? I don't think I want to deal with him for the next three hours.
Caleb: It's the only way all three of us can get what we want and walk away without a fight. Just play along.
Impmon: Oh, but I do have one condition.
Caleb: What?
Impmon: I'll only give your stuff back once those three hours are up. Just in case y'all plan to pull a fast one on me.
Caleb: Tch. Okay, fine.
Sometime later, Caleb and Rjay were walking through town with Caleb carrying Impmon around in a backpack. They stop and stand in front of jewelry store. Different from the one Caleb went to.
Caleb: This is the place.
Impmon sticks his head out of the backpack.
Impmon: Okay, now head on in and keep your head down.
Rjay: What are we doing exactly?
Impmon: Stealing.
Caleb and Rjay were shocked to find out that they were about to rob a jewelry store.
Caleb: What?! You want us to rob a jewelry store?! Are you insane?!
Rjay: Yeah! Haven't you stole enough!?
Impmon: Hey, we made a deal. For the next three hours, you two have to do as I say. But if you want to chicken out, you can kiss your stuff goodbye!
Caleb and Rjay went silent for a moment, deciding on what to do. Seeing that it's the only way to get their things back, they decided to play along.
Caleb: Okay, we'll do it.
Impmon: Good. Now stop waisting time and get in there!
Impmon dips his head back into the backpack.
Caleb and Rjay enters the store. The interior design looked less fancy then previous one. The employee standing behind the glass counter containing the jewelry was busy helping a customer. Caleb and Rjay walks up to the glass counter.
Caleb: Alright, what now?
Caleb asked quietly. Impmon peeks out the backpack.
Impmon: Okay, do you see that space there in the glass? Use your spirit thingy sneak through it and snatch anything that's closest.
Impmon dips his head back into the backpack. Even though they didn't want to, they had no choice but to do it. Caleb and Rjay looks at each other and nods.
Rjay: I'll keep watch.
Rjay turns around and leans back against the counter. He keeps a lookout for anyone looking their way. Caleb summons Shining Justice's right arm and lowers it through the space in the glass. He grabs a silver bracelet and carefully slips it back out the opening. Shining Justice gives the bracelet to Caleb and disappears.
Caleb: Got it!
He was about to put it in his pocket till Impmon sticks his head out the bag and shouted.
Impmon: SECURITY!!! Those brats are stealing!!!
Impmon quickly dips his head back into the bag. Everyone in the store, including the guards, looks over to Caleb and Rjay and sees the bracelet in Caleb's hand. Caleb and Rjay were shocked that Impmon ratted them out like that. The security guards were coming towards them.
Caleb: W-Wait a second! This is not what it looks like!
The two security guards grab Caleb and Rjay by their wrists, causing Caleb to drop the bracelet. The guards force their hands behind their back and start walking them to the door.
Security guard #1: Yeah yeah, we know.
Security guard #2: You're not the first to tell us that. Now move it.
The security guards push open the front door and kicks Caleb and Rjay out the store.
Security guard #1: If y'all got caught that easily, then you're not worth taking to jail.
The security guards laughs.
Security guard #2: Now, stay out of trouble.
The security guards closes the door behind them and goes back inside the store. Thankfully those guards were lazy at their job, or it would've been the end for Caleb. Impmon jumps out of the bag then points and laughs at Caleb and Rjay. Caleb and Rjay both turn to Impmon, both very pissed about him tricking them.
Rjay: Hey! What the hell was that for!?
Impmon: Did you really think I needed you to steal things for me!? No! I only did that just to make fun of you!
Impmon continued to laugh hard. Both still very angry at Impmon, Caleb and Rjay brings out their Stands to beat the crap out of Impmon.
Rjay: You little shit!!! We're going to fucking stomp your brain out on the concrete!!!
Impmon: Whoa! Hey now! A deal's a deal, remember?
Caleb and Rjay stop themselves before they could attack Impmon.
Impmon: For the next three hours, you two have to do as I say. Unless, you know, you won't get to see your stuff again.
As much as they wanted to kill him, he was right. Caleb and Rjay stands down and command their Stands to return.
Rjay: Damn it... My bro gave me that wallet...
The next three hours were hell for Caleb and Rjay. Impmon has been humiliating and torturing them whenever he gets the chance. Caleb and Rjay were holding back their anger as long as they can. Finally, the three hours were over. Caleb and Rjay were sitting on a bench taking a break while Impmon was in nearby a tree relaxing on one of the branches.
Rjay: Oh my god... It's over... The torture is finally over...
Caleb: Yeah...
Impmon: You did good. I'm actually surprised. I thought one of y'all would've snapped and attack little old me. But naw, y'all kept it together and did as I say. I'm impressed.
Caleb: Okay, we've done our part of the deal, now it's your turn. Give us our stuff back.
Impmon: Hmm...
Impmon starts thinking for a moment. What he says next catches Caleb and Rjay by surprise.
Impmon: No.
Caleb and Rjay sat up and looked at Impmon surprised.
Rjay: W-What did you just say?!
Impmon: What? Did you really think I'm just gonna give you your stuff back? Nope! I'm keeping them.
Caleb and Rjay stood up from the bench.
Caleb: But we did everything you said! That's isn't fair!
Impmon: Sorry. But I don't play fair.
The anger Caleb and Rjay were holding back finally explodes out. Caleb and Rjay brings out their Stands.
Rjay: Why you little..!
Road Warrior throws a chain at Impmon. Impmon sees the chain coming towards him from the corner of his eye. He quickly gets up and jumps to another branch. The chain hits and breaks the branch Impmon was previous on.
Impmon: Hey! What's the big idea?!
Rjay: I'll tell you what's the big idea.
Caleb and Rjay stands under the tree and looks up at Impmon.
Rjay: The big idea is that we're going to beat your fucking ass!!
Shining Justice punches a large hole through the tree, causing the tree to break and fall over. Impmon held on as the tree collapses and hits the ground. Shining Justice and Road Warrior stomps their feet through the leaves to find Impmon.
Rjay: Come on out, you little shit! Where are you!?
Shining Justice and Road Warrior kept stomping but couldn't find Impmon anywhere.
Rjay: Damn it! Where is he!?
Caleb and Rjay looks around. Caleb spots Impmon being carried away down the street by his Stand, Yankee Doodle Dandy. Caleb points at him.
Caleb: Over there!
Caleb and Rjay chases after Impmon. They continued chasing after Impmon, till they notice Impmon head into a alleyway.
Caleb: You're not getting away!
Caleb and Rjay chases after Impmon. They continue to chase him till they see them turn down an alleyway and out of their sight.
Rjay: You ain't getting away that easy!
Caleb and Rjay quickly ran into the alleyway, but they stop and was only faced with a dead end. Impmon was nowhere to be seen. They quickly looked around for him.
Rjay: Where did he go?!
Caleb looks up and sees Yankee Doodle Dandy climbing up the wall with Impmon over their shoulders.
Caleb: Up there!
Rjay looks up and sees them as well. They were close to reaching the roof.
Impmon: Haha! Later losers!
Rjay: Road Warrior!
Road Warrior appears next to Rjay and throws a chain at Impmon. The chain wraps around his leg, then Road Warrior pulls back hard on its side of the chain. Impmon was yanked towards them, but Yankee Doodle Dandy held on to Impmon tight and tries to pull him back. Now this was a game of tug of war between Stands. Both sides were tugging hard like two children fighting over a teddy bear, except this time Impmon was the bear. Road Warrior was getting the advantage and slowly pulls Impmon towards him.
Rjay: Got you now, you little shit!
Victory was in their sight, till they noticed a lone Yankee Doodle Dandy troop running on the chain towards them. They had no idea what it was planning. The lone Yankee Doodle Dandy soldier stops in front of Road Warrior's fist. It reaches behind its back and suddenly pulls out a small wooden mallet from nowhere.
Rjay: What in the--?!
The lone Yankee Doodle Dandy slams the wooden mallet on Road Warrior's fist, causing the bones in Rjay's hand to shatter. Rjay cries in pain and lets go of the chain.
Caleb: No!
Shining Justice quickly shot out and grabbed the chain before it got of reach. Now Rjay was really mad.
Rjay: THAT'S IT!!! YOU'RE SO FREAKING DEAD!!!
Road Warrior grabs the chain with its other hand and pulls with Shining Justice. Yankee Doodle Dandy finally loses their grip, letting Impmon slip out of their hands. Impmon fell right into Rjay's hand. He was holding him up by the throat.
Caleb: Now we got you!
Impmon was trying desperately to escape.
Impmon: H-Hey, come on! It was just a prank! A-All is forgiven if you let me go!
Rjay: Nah. It's too late for that now. I've been waiting for this!
Caleb and Rjay were more than ready to teach Impmon a lesson. But, climbing up on Rjay's back is another lone Yankee Doodle Dandy trooper. It up to the side of Rjay head and pulls out a wooden mallet. When Rjay notices the trooper on the side of his head, it was too late. The Yankee Doodle Dandy trooper had already pulled its mallet back and swings it hard into his eye. Rjay drops Impmon and falls to the ground with his hand over his eye, shouting in pain.
Rjay: AAHHH!! MY EYE!!!
Caleb: Rjay!
Caleb was about to check on Rjay, till he sees Yankee Doodle Dandy soldiers down at his foot with mallets in their hands. They slam their mallets into his foot, shattering the bones within. Caleb falls to the ground shouting in pain. They were both down for the count. Yankee Doodle Dandy carries Impmon up the wall and onto the roof. Impmon stands at the edge looking down at them.
Impmon: You think you can catch me? HA! Forget it! No one ever catches me! You can say goodbye to your belongings! They're mine!
Caleb and Rjay looks up at Impmon. They both want to go after him so badly, but they can't.
Caleb: B-Bastard...
Impmon: I would love to stay and torture you some more, but I got places to be!
Before they knew it, they were surrounded by an army of Yankee Doodle Dandy soldiers, all with mallets in their hands.
Impmon: So I'll let my boys make quick work of you.
They were inching closer to the injured Caleb and Rjay.
Impmon: Alright! Have at them boys! Show them no mercy!
They all pulled back on their mallets and was ready to swing. Caleb and Rjay closed their eyes and readies for a beating. Suddenly, small, sharp, glowing objects that looks like leaves comes out of nowhere and cuts through some of Yankee Doodle Dandy soldiers, while some scatters and runs away. Caleb and Rjay opens their eyes and sees they're not surrounded.
Rjay: Hey, my eye!
Caleb looks at him and sees that his eye is fixed.
Rjay: I can see again!
Rjay starts closing and opening his hand that was by a mallet.
Rjay: And my hand! It's fixed!
Caleb notices that he doesn't feel pain in his foot anymore. He moves it around to be sure.
Caleb: My foot... It's not broken! What's going on?
Rjay: It's a miracle!
Impmon: Hey! Let me go!
They heard Impmon demanding to be dropped. They got up and looks up towards the roof. They see the only person they know that can heal their injuries holding Impmon up by the back of his red bandana.
Caleb and Rjay: Renamon!
Renamon was the one that saved them from Yankee Doodle Dandy and healed their injuries. She was so fast that nobody could see her. She had her attention on Impmon only.
Renamon: Oh... It's you...
Impmon: Oh, heya fox-face. No time long see!
Caleb and Rjay were caught by surprise.
Rjay: W-What the?!
Caleb: You know each other?!
Renamon turns her attention to Caleb and Rjay below.
Renamon: Of course. We met seven years ago back in Japan. I thought I left him behind, but it seems like the troublemaker followed me.
Impmon: I didn't follow you!
Renamon: Then tell me why you're here.
Impmon: Ever since you left Japan, I've been having a blast pranking people, scaring the life out of them, and I made stealing a new hobby. But after a while it got boring over there. There were no new people to prank. Till I heard about this quiet lit town and decided to move there and make it unquiet! But I had no idea you were here, fox-face. I guess we do live in a small world.
Renamon: Earlier I heard Impmon saying about your belongings. Did he steal from you?
Caleb and Rjay nods. Renamon looks at Impmon with a cold gaze.
Renamon: Impmon... Give them their stuff back.
Impmon: Never!
Renamon kept staring at Impmon with her cold look. Impmon tries to resist but couldn't. He knew she was going to make him do it one way or another.
Impmon: Tch... Fine...
After that, two Yankee Doodle Dandy soldiers walked up to Caleb and Rjay with Rjay's wallet and the small black box. Caleb opens the box and sees the necklace still in there. He sighs in relief. Renamon manages to see the necklace from the roof.
Renamon: What's that?
Caleb quickly closes the box and puts it in his pocket.
Caleb: I-It's nothing! Just a necklace...
Rjay: Actually, it's--!
Caleb casually slaps Rjay in the back of the head to shut him up before he could say another word.
Caleb: Rjay, you dingleberry! The ice cream store is about to close in an hour!
Rjay had no idea what he was talking about. Obviously, Caleb was trying hurry and get out of there.
Caleb: We've got to hurry before it closes!
Rjay: R-Right...
Caleb: Well, see you later Renny! Tell Rika I said hi!
Caleb grabs Rjay's arm and drags him out of the alleyway and away from Renamon's sight. Renamon was confused about Caleb's odd behavior, but she forgets about it and looks back at Impmon.
Renamon: How did you get a Stand?
Impmon: What? Yankee Doodle Dandy? I don't know. They started following me around when some jerk shot me with a arrow.
Renamon: Do you know who they were, or what they look like?
Impmon: Nope. Not a clue.
Renamon: Hmm.
Another dead end. They need to find the culprit fast, or more people will get hurt.
Impmon: Can I go now?
Renamon: Not yet. You still need to be punished for what you did.
Impmon: Aww man...

STAND ABILITY: Despite their size, Yankee Doodle Dandy is considered to be very strong. They can even work together to carry a building if the user desires to. Yankee Doodle Dandy does everything the user commands. Like chores, building, stealing, and even murder. Each one has a small wooden mallet tucked away somewhere. With a mallet and it's strength, a single Yankee Doodle Dandy soldier can easily break the enemy's bones.
Later that day, the sun had already set. Caleb was walking to Rika's house. He was carrying the necklace box and fried tofu in a takeout plate from a restaurant. He also had written letter folded for Renamon. He arrives at their house and stands in front of their front door. He takes a deep breath to calm himself before ringing the doorbell. After a moment, he hears someone walking to the door and turns the knob. The door swings open and there standing before him was Rika.
Rika: Oh hey Caleb. I wasn't expecting to see you.
Caleb: Hey Rika. Is... Renamon home?
Rika: Yeah, she is. Let me go get her.
Rika was about to go fetch Renamon till Caleb stops her.
Caleb: No, that's fine! Um... A-Actually I need you to do me a favor.
Rika: A favor?
Caleb: Y-Yeah...
Caleb shows the gifts to Rika.
Caleb: Would you please give these to her? I would do it myself, but my uncle doesn't want me to be out at night. So it'll be greatly appreciated if you could do it for me. Please?
Rika: Sure.
Caleb hands over the gifts to Rika.
Caleb: Thanks. I owe you one. I got to get going now. Bye!
Caleb walks away and waves.
Rika: Bye!
Rika closes the door and carries the gifts to the living room.
Rika: Renamon!
Rika calls for Renamon. Renamon suddenly appears out of nowhere.
Renamon: Yes Rika?
Rika: Caleb brought you these.
Renamon: For me?
Rika: Yeah. He didn't tell what it is though. I guess it's a surprise.
Rika places the gifts on the coffee table, then she and Renamon sat down on the couch.
Rika: Let's see what it is.
First, Renamon grabs the takeout plate and opens it, revealing her favorite food, fried tofu.
Renamon: Oh, fried tofu. How thoughtful of him.
Renamon closes the box and sets it aside.
Renamon: I'll eat those in a minute.
Renamon then grabs the small black box. Suddenly, she remembers something.
Renamon: Wait a minute.
Rika: What?
Renamon: I seen this box before. Caleb was carrying this.
Rika: Really?
Without delay, Renamon opens the black box. Inside was the silver necklace with the sapphire gem hanging on it. Rika was surprised.
Rika: A necklace? Wait! That's the kind of necklace couples buy for valentines or something!
Rika suddenly realizes it.
Rika: Wait... Do you think he...!
Renamon turns her attention to the folded letter Caleb wrote on the table.
Renamon: What does that note say?
Rika: Oh yeah! The note!
Rika grabs the note and unfolds it. She began reading the note word for word.
"Dear, Renamon. I'm sorry I can't talk to you about my feelings in person. So instead I wrote a letter. There's been something I've been meaning to tell you for a while, but I wasn't able to bring myself to say it. But now it's starting to become serious problem. Lately I've been having trouble eating and sleeping. I've been thinking about you constantly. I can hardly pay attention in class without thinking of you. So, to save myself from insanity, I've decided to confess my feelings for you. I'm in love with you, Renamon. I love everything about you. Your eyes. Your voice. Everything! It would mean the world to me if you felt the same way about me. Your friend, Caleb. P.S. Hope you enjoy the gifts!"
Rika puts down the letter slowly. She was surprised that someone had feelings for Renamon.
Rika: Wow. I can't believe what I read. Caleb really likes you. Like alot.
Even though her face doesn't show it, Renamon was also surprised my Caleb's confession. He went through alot to do this. Renamon looks back down at the necklace.
Rika: So what are you going to do?
Renamon: ...
The next day, Caleb and Rjay were walking to school together, talking about yesterday.
Rjay: So did you do it?
Caleb: I sure did.
Rjay: What did she say?
Caleb: Oh, I didn't have time to talk to her, so I just wrote a letter instead.
Rjay: Yeah, sure you didn't.
Rjay said sarcastically.
Caleb: What do you mean by that?
Rjay: You were too scared to tell her up front, weren't you!?
Caleb: Wha-!? No I wasn't! I would've been more than happy to tell her up front! But my uncle told me specifically not to be out at dark!
Rjay: Pfft! Yeah right.
Caleb: Listen here you-!
Renamon: Ahem!
Suddenly they heard Renamon and stop. They turn around and saw Renamon standing behind them with her arms crossed. She had the necklace box in her hand.
Rjay: Oh shit! Romance! Alright, I'll get out your hair and meet you school. Good luck, tiger!
Rjay runs off to school, leaving Caleb and Renamon alone. "This is it!" Caleb thought to himself. He was extremely nervous. He clears his throat.
Caleb: H-Hey...
Renamon: Hi.
It was hard to tell what she is thinking. The only two expressions from Renamon that Caleb knows were her usual cold look and anger.
Caleb: S-So... Did you read my letter?
Renamon: I did. It was...nice.
Caleb: Really? T-Thanks! I worked real hard on it. S-So have you decided? We could go on a date or--
Renamon: No.
Her words cuts through Caleb's heart like a sharp blade. Caleb was lost for words.
Caleb: O-Oh... I... I see...
The way she said it was so cold. And so sudden too. Caleb was heartbroken.
Renamon: I'm sorry. But I just don't see you and me being together ever. Don't think this is personal. You're a human, and I'm a Digimon. We were never meant to be together as lovers. That's just the rules of nature.
Caleb could feel himself going numb. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't.
Renamon: Here.
Renamon tosses the necklace box on the ground in front of Caleb. Caleb bends down and picks it up. He opens the box and sees the necklace still in it.
Renamon: I appreciate you risking your life getting that necklace back from Impmon, but I can't keep it. It'll only be cruel rejecting you and keeping your gift.
Caleb: ...
Renamon: I'm sorry.
Renamon turns and starts walking away, till she stops and looks back at him.
Renamon: Oh. But the fried tofu were delicious. Thank you for that.
Caleb looks back up at Renamon, but notices she vanished like a ghost. Caleb was all alone. He was rejected in the coldest way possible. He closes the box and puts it away in his pocket. He turns around and walks away. Depression came over him like a tsunami. He has not said a single word for the rest of the day.
