Tony was surprised to see Natasha, Clint, and Bruce waiting for them when they landed at the compound.
The ex-assassin did not say anything, but went straight to Steve and gave him a hug, whispering something in his ear. Steve nodded quickly, still shaken up from it all.
"Let's get you all inside..." Bruce led them to take a seat. They all gathered around the lobby. "Ok, now, what you're saying is, Thanos was using the stones to manipulate you?"
"He created a mirage, of sorts." Thor tried to explain, as he noticed Steve and Tony did not have the stomach for repeating anything that just happened. "There was this house, seemed abandoned, until we saw...this little girl, she..." Thor could not continue.
"You all know the Holocaust, right?" Natasha and Clint nodded. Tony shook his head. "Well, she looked to be one of the victims of those inhumane experiments, God love her..."
Steve started to silently cry. Natasha squeezed his hand.
"What happened? Did you see Thanos anywhere?" Clint wondered.
"Not a trace..." Tony answered. "It was all too real and sickening...what kind of psychopath does that? I..." Tony composed himself. "Well, she's trying to lure us to the back, which I've seen enough movies to know you never do, so once we escaped the house, she was crying, but by the time we flew over the place, it was gone...without a trace...it was all for naught..." He was pissed. Thanos tricked them, and what's worse, he hit Cap hard. He would not be surprised if Thanos planted that nightmare in the first place.
"Ok, but why go after us like this? He won, right? Killed half the universe?" Clint was getting riled up too.
"We were the only ones that ever stood in his way..." Thor knowingly said. "He's the type to hide behind power, waiting to strike, then taunt us over his victory like a coward..." The young god thought back to Loki and his last words.
I assure you, Brother, the sun will shine on us again...
Loki died saving his life again, and now after attacking his friend Steve, sending them on this ridiculous quest...it took every ounce of willpower in him to not go after Thanos alone right this moment.
"We need to stop this...now." Tony said what they were all thinking. "I'm not playing this game...he killed..." Peter, Stephen, most of the a-holes... "FRIDAY?"
"Yes, Boss?" Good, she was still here at the compound.
"Call Rocket. Tell him he needs to find Thanos yesterday. This isn't over yet..."
