Welcome to a new chapter of jojomon soul and universe and in this long awaited chapter, ethan and his pokemon arrive to saaint-apolis city to face the bug type gym leader of the city daniel steel, so let's start this chapter.
ethan, eevee, aqua necklace and echoes were walking (or floating in echoes case) along route 1 looking a bit more tired than usual.
"tired everyone" ethan said to his pokemon, "vee" she said "i know, we've been walking along for 30 minutes with no sign of anyway out of here" echoes then went ahead of everyone and looked in aw at something which caught ethan's attention.
"echoes what is it?" ethan asked as he walked up to echoes and what they saw manage to blew everyone's minds, it was a city in the background which looked to be two different cities that had a river flowing through the middle that also had a bridge connecting the two.
"so that's st. apolis city" ethan said in aw "you got that right son" said an unknown male voice, ethan turned to his right to see a bus and it's driver.
"you need a ride to the city" the driver said as ethan nodded "alright feel free to get on" "alright thank you" ethan said as he get's out two pokeball's to return aqua and echoes to their pokeballs and then he got on the bus with eevee and sat down on some seat.
the bus ride went along smoothly with ethan and eevee seeing the scenery and many pokemon roaming about on the fields.
they entered the city to see that the buildings were blue as the sky and a river that flowed across the city as clear as day with many pokemon swimming about.
"that is one huge river" "vee eevee" both ethan and eevee said.
"that is st. marks river, a river that separated the city years ago back when they were two separate cities and had a strong hatred of each other but eventually settled their differences and manage to came together as one huge city!" the bus driver said.
"oh wow" ethan gawked.
"well we're here at your stop, the st. apolis gym" ethan looked to his right to see a large building with some beehive logo on it.
"so this is the gym eevee" "vee" she responded "mr bus driver what can you tell us of the gym" ethan asked.
"the st. apolis gym leader is 'daniel steel' a young and kind man that specializes in bug types, he finds bug types to be interesting for the fact that they're simple but have hidden potential within them" the bus driver said.
"interesting thank you so much" ethan said as eevee got on his shoulder and put on his backpack and walked to the front of the bus and ethan asked "how much was this ride?"
"this one is on the house not only is this your first time on here but also i see potential in you sonny now go out and make a difference and challenge gyms" the bus driver said enthusiastically.
"right" ethan said as he walked down the steps and stepped in front of the gym.
Ethan stops for a sec to take a deep breath and looked at eevee and said "ready partner" "vui" eevee said.
"Then lets go" ethan then opened the door and what he was met with was something extraordinary and fascinating, inside was an open area full of various bug type pokemon who were rolling around, walking or flying which amazed the new trainer.
"you see that eevee, lot's of bug types including 'masquerain', 'Harvest' and even viviIIon" "vee vee"
A man who looked to be in his late 40's or early 50's arrived to the entrance.
"hello there, griffin's the name and you must be a new challenger to challenge daniel steel" ethan nods, "right then, come this way" they walk onto the battle field where they look at the wall to see some sort of large silver cocoon.
"mr. steel you have a challenger here today" griffin says as the cocoon started hopping over towards ethan, eevee and griffin and stops when they are right in front of them suddenly the cocoon starts to break eventually revealing a man with tanned skin, long hair, a grey shirt with black outline and black long sleeves and black pants.
"Morning griffin and you must be a new trainer here to battle me, in that case why don't you tell me your name" steel said
"Right, the names Ethan 'aternus' and this here is my partner eevee" "vee vee" she said wagging her tail.
"well then, welcome to my gym, the name is Daniel steel happy to battle you but before we start, do you have questions" "yeah, if your a bug type gym leader, why is your last name steel" ethan asked out of curiosity.
"i get that a lot but to put it simply, this gym was actually a steel type gym and my father was the gym leader here at one point however, he was arrested on the charges of fraud and murder and is spending the rest of his life in prison. the gym was closed down and was later turned into some smoothie shop which only lasted for 3 years and i was heartbroken after my father did those things. one day, i happen to find some bug types hiding from the rain and no one wanted to help them because 'they're creepy and gross' they said and i felt the pokemon's sadness and decided that i would take them in and bought that old gym to give them a home and designed it to be like a zoo/safari. i want to show the people out there that bug types aren't scary and they're misunderstood and so, i decided to become a gym leader and sent my papers to the battle Association in dracopolis to register and here we are now"
"I've heard of dracopolis, it's the largest city in westmidia and home to the 8th and final gym right" ethan said,
"indeed and home to the battle Association which registers gyms plus the elite four and their progress with many branches around the world aside from the region of alola which doesn't have gyms, so for example gyms like 'kanto's' pewter city gym leader or unova's nimbasa city gym leader report their progress to their respective branch of the Association and it get's sent to the main Association"
"interesting" ethan said.
"Now let's get to battle in question, Ethan i want you to go to the other side of the battle field"
Ethan and Eevee then head to the other side of the field and turned around to face daniel with griffin getting in the middle and he says.
"This battle will be 2 v 2 with the challenger being able to switch out whenever they want to, if the challenger wins, they will receive a gym badge by the gym leader and are able to move on to the next gym, do i make myself clear"
"yes" both ethan and daniel say.
"good you may begin"
Eevee jumped off of ethan's shoulder and was ready to fight but ethan stopped her.
"Actually Eevee, i wanted to give aqua necklace and echoes a chance to get some battling experience"
eevee nodded and stepped back allowing ethan to throw his 'great ball', "alright 'echoes' come on out" ethan threw the pokeball in the air and released echoes [act 2] who was ready to battle.
"You ready echoes" ethan said, "echo" it said "vee vee" eevee said cheering on her teammate who immediately blushed.
"so echoes is your first choice and not eevee?" daniel said out of curiosity "me and eevee have battled a lot when we were back home, battling classmates on the schoolyard and in the neighborhood so eevee has a lot of battling experience, because of that i wanted my new pokemon some experience in battling"
"interesting, i respect that, alright then come on out 'survivor'!" daniel throws his pokeball in the air and out came a small, flat pokemon that had small little sparks out of the pokemon "survive" it said as ethan gets out his dex and scans it:

"it is considered a weak pokemon although it has one thing that makes it stand out and that is if anyone touches survivor, they will be shocked and go crazy or confused for long periods of time however if you take care of it long enough, it'll evolve into sonething special"

"you may have the first move ethan" daniel said, "alright, echoes use pound" echoes right arm starts to glow white as echoes heads towards the flat pokemon.
"survivor use 'thunder shock'" the flat pokemon complied by generating electricity around itself and launching it towards echoes.
"echoes use sizzle and throw it towards the thunder shock move" however before echoes could make the words for sizzle, echoes was hit by thunder shock.
"you alright echoes" it nodded yes, "alright then, use screech" echoes tail started to sprout the word screech (or at least the pokemon equivalent of symbols and letters) and used his tail to launch it forward.
"Quick survivor, spin around to create a dust cloud!" however it couldn't do so as the screech move landed onto survivor creating a loud noise.
"Alright echoes go behind survivor" echoes complied to ethan's demand and appeared right behind survivor "now finish it off with sizzle" echoes complied once more and created the words for sizzle.
"survivor use 'infestation'" steely dan said to his pokemon as it created a bunch of tiny bugs to release toward echoes, the bugs got onto echoes without echoes noticing them.
the sizzle attack hit survivor and it struggled to get up, but in the end, it fainted with swirls in its eyes, "survivor is unable to battle, echoes wins this round." griffin said.
"alright echoes" ethan said high fiving his echoes, Griffin smiled warmly at the trainer before turning his head towards daniel, "you all set sir" "yes i am griffin" said the enthusiastic gym leader "alright daniel, you may send out your next pokemon" "alright then, for my last pokemon, the star of my gym and my ace, 'lovers' come on out"
daniel throws the pokemon in the air revealing a short but large pokemon with red eyes and 4 legs. "Lovers" it said, "lovers huh" ethan said getting out his pokedex:

"a bug and dark type"
"the evolved form of 'harvest', in ancient legend, these pokemon are said to have mind controlling powers in which they would send miniature versions of themselves into someone's ear and force them to do their bidding. No other pokemon have the same type combination as lovers and its the only pokemon whose pre-evolution aka harvest also has a unique type combination being bug/normal.

"so ethan make your move and don't hold back" daniel said, "alright echoes use screech" ethan commanded "echoes" it said as it tried to create the word for screech but it then felt a sudden pain "Echoes!" it said in pain.
"echoes what's wrong" ethan said, "it's infestation" ethan looked across at daniel "infestation is a move that doesn't do a whole lot of damage but it leaves an after effect that causes the opponent to get damaged from the bug things on echoes body" daniel continued so that's why echoes is struggling ethan thought.
daniel then smirked and thought bingo before saying "lovers use a flurry of quick attacks" lovers nodded running towards echoes at blistering speeds attacking echoes who was still in pain.
"echoes use pound" echoes armed glowed white and managed to punch the mind control pokemon sending it back a bit, "alright echoes try to ignore the pain and use screech" echoes nodded and created the word screech to launch towards lovers and released it towards the opponent.
"Lovers, use quick attack to dodge it" lovers did so and avoided the move and appeared behind echoes, "eevee!" eevee yelled out to get echoes attention behind him "use string shot" daniel said as lovers shot out web from it's mouth onto echoes to slow it down.
"echoes!" ethan yelled "'fury cutter'" daniel said to lovers as it's arm glowed and slashed echoes sending it back a bit "again" daniel said as lovers arm glowed once more and slashed at echoes with much more force sending echoes back before echoes fainted from it's injuries "echoes" it said.
"echoes is unable to battle, daniel wins this one" griffin said, just as griffin said that, lovers started to glow orange "daniel why is lovers glowing orange" ethan said, daniel looked to his pokemon "oh that, that's just increasing your stats, you'll find it often and in this case, lovers attack increased thanks to its ability moxie which increases attack every time it's defeated an opponent"
"i see, alright echoes return" ethan returned his echoes into its great ball "thanks echoes get some rest (grabs regular pokeball) now aqua necklace, it's your time to shine" ethan said throwing the pokeball in the air and released aqua necklace for battle "aqua".
"continue the battle" griffin said "alright aqua, lovers attack increased after defeating echoes so be careful of its attacks" "aqua" it said to its trainer,
"as a reminder your pokemon is also weak to my pokemon's bug type attacks due to its secondary dark typing so you might wanna watch out" steel mentioned.
"alright aqua use pound" ethan said as his pokemon's arm started to glow "aqua" "lovers fury cutter" lovers arm started to glow as well and both clashed and jumped back a bit before lovers managed to push down aqua necklace.
"alright lovers use fury cutter once more" daniel said as his pokemon's arm started to glow "lovers" it shouted, ethan then said "aqua use water gun to push yourself away" aqua did so launching water from it's mouth onto lovers pushing itself away from the attack.
daniel commented "impressive" aqua necklace got back up and ready to go "aqua turn around i have a plan" ethan said as aqua turned around and ethan crouched down and eevee got off his shoulder.
"remember on the first day we met, you used water gun to twirl around to launch yourself towards the opponent, well we're doing so again you up to that" aqua thought for a second about what ethan said and nodded "aqua" "alright aqua you ready" "aqua" "alright, stay where you are and don't turn around"
daniel looked on in curiosity and was intrigued "i wonder what they're planning".
ethan got back up as said "alright aqua, jump right there and use water gun to launch yourself forward while spinning" which surprised both griffin and daniel.
aqua then jumped and launched water from it's mouth launching itself backwards, aqua then started to spin almost like a drill and landed a hit on lovers.
"you combination is unique i must say but we're not determined to lose lovers use fury cutter" daniel said as it's arm glowed.
"alright aqua again" aqua did as it was told and jumped to use water gun once again launching itself backwards but this time, it looked as if a veil of light blue water was covering aqua necklace (whose body was covered by dark blue water) and made aqua a bit more faster almost as if it was a jet.
Aqua landed a blow on lovers which made lovers spin while aqua landed on the ground. safely. "what was that?" ethan asked "that was 'aqua jet', it's a move that always goes first, it covers the user with water and boosts its speed like a jet allowing the first hit." daniel responded.
"interesting alright aqua necklace use aqua jet" aqua then covered itself in water and launched itself towards lovers, "not letting that happen again lovers use fury cutter and send it in the air" daniel commanded.
"lovers" it said as it's arm started to glow, aqua was near lovers at that point which allowed lovers to hit aqua in the stomach sending it up in the air.
"aqua" it said in pain "aqua!" ethan said, "alright lovers fury cutter once more" daniel said as his partner's arm started to glow, "i won't let that happen aqua use water gun and land it on lovers face" ethan said and aqua nodded launching a torrent of water landing on lovers which made it fall to the ground.
"no" daniel said "alright aqua use aqua jet" ethan said as aqua covered itself again in a water veil and rushed like a jet towards lovers and landed a blow on the downed bug type.
aqua hopped off lovers just as it was getting up, lovers was about to attack but then it fell to the ground with swirls in its eyes signalling that it fainted.
"lovers is unable to battle, aqua necklace wins and the winner is ethan from lovecherry town"
"alright we won our first gym battle" ethan said excitedly, eevee got off ethan's shoulder and went to nuzzle aqua who blushed.
daniel smiles and grabs his pokeball and says "alright lovers return" a red energy came out of the pokeball and covered lovers who returned to its ball "thank you so much lovers and now take a good rest".
daniel walked over to ethan and says "well ethan that was the most fascinating battle in my life, the way you used aqua necklace's water gun to attack only to learn aqua jet was fantastic and now may i present you 'the swarm badge'".
Daniel gives ethan a badge that resembles some attenaes (don't know if i spelled it right) that you would see on a bug.
"alright eevee, aqua we just got our first badge" ethan said to his pokemon "eevee, aqua" they said excitedly, daniel then asked "so, have an idea where you're battling next".
ethan shakes his head no, "then might i suggest 'agriqua town', a beautiful seaside town that is also an agricultural hub, full of plains, vegetation and full of grass type pokemon" daniel suggested.
"so the leader specializes in grass types?" ethan asked, "no but the elite four member 'fiore' comes from there but no her cousin 'jolyne' is the gym leader of agriqua town specializing in water types and ironically enough has a fiery spirit that's ready to battle, it's also home to the lab of professor fir".
"water types huh, alright thank you daniel" "not a problem ethan but before you leave, i suggest checking out the city itself, especially a statue in the middle of the city at lakeview park that features the legendary pokemon 'maiden heaven' that tells an interesting story"
"alright i'll do that" "best of luck ethan, eevee, aqua" "will do daniel" the trainer and his pokemon walked out of the gym, took a breath of fresh air and smiled, eevee's stomach started to grumble and so did aqua's and ethan's.
"i guess we're all hungry huh" the pokemon nodded "to the pokemon center we go" ethan and his pokemon then walked down the street to the pokemon center however unbeknownst to ethan, someone was watching him from the corner.
the person had blonde hair, a blue sweatshirt and hat and grey sweatpants and seemed to be talking on the phone, on his shoulder was a small black fox pokemon with red accents.
"so you've arrived in st. apolis city have you" said a voice on the phone.
"yes and i found the boy and his eevee, you said the eevee was special right, that it had a particular ability that no other eevee has?"
"yes which is why we need that eevee so we can use its power for boss dio"
"i'll get payed right"
"if you do the job that is"
"right right right i'll do so"
"good don't end up like joe and amanda who failed their mission"
"i know"
"good, now do us proud 'diego'" (call ends)
diego puts the phone away and turns to his fox partner, "you ready 'zorua'" "zor zor" it said.
"let's go"

that took way to long to complete and i'm sorry for that, i occasionally have a lot of writers block which puts me back at writing for awhile.
anyway that was the end of the first gym battle and with the gym leader daniel steel. the gym leader is the son of steely dan, an antagonist of jjba part 3 stardust crusaders where his stand is lovers and i did want steely to be the gym leader at one point but i instead only mentioned him.
daniel is a bug type specialist so i gave him two bug stands that fit a him as a bug type so lets go over them:
survivor, the spark pokemon, bug/electric, bst:
45hp 40ak 30def 45 sp. atk 30 55 spd= 245
abilities: static, swarm, hidden ability: motor drive.
moves: thunder shock (bug), infestation (bug), growl (normal).
survivor is considered one of the worst stands, so much so that even dio himself called it that (or in the lines of) so it was perfect as a weak pokemon, it's found almost everywhere such as route 1, st. apolis fields, blackfern forest etc.
although weak, if you manage to keep it until level 33, you'll be in for an evolution and a great partner to have on the team but i'll keep that a secret for now.
next is lovers, daniels ace pokemon and is unique for being the only bug/dark pokemon (for this story) and is also unique because it's the only one whose pre-evolution (harvest) also has a unique type combination being bug/normal and is the early game bug type you would usually find on the first route.
lovers: the mind control pokemon, bug/dark, bst:
50 hp 55 atk, 40 def, 25 sp. atk, 40 sp. def, 90 spd: 300
abilities: intimidate, moxie hidden ability: mind control*
*mind control: an ability that makes it so that if lovers attacks an opponent or if they're attacked by the opponent, there will be a 20% chance that the opponent will be confused.
moveset: bullet punch, fury cutter, infestation, scary face.
it evolves from harvest at level 12.
now for the surprise being diego brando is in the story working for team soul but you maybe wondering how will this work since i mentioned dio is in the story as well, well that will be a secret as well along with encino who is enrico pucci but has a different name.
all i will say is that diego is neither good nor evil (for now) and will become a rival for ethan soon and is a rock type specialist aside from his zorua which i gave because i love zorua (it's adorable!).
ethan's team (so far):
eevee (normal, female) level 10: tackle, swift, baby-doll eyes and bite.
aqua necklace (water/dark, male) level 12: pound, growl, water gun, aqua jet
echoes act 2 (bug/psychic, male) level 10: pound, sizzle, screech
*sizzle: a base 20 fire move that creates a small heat wave, has a chance to burn the opponent.
the city of st. apolis is based on st. paul and minneapolis which are the capital and largest city respectfully which are next to each other so i took those cities and put them together to make a city that's seperated by a river that leads to chain lakes, a group of lakes based on the bde maka ska lake in Minneapolis.
Then you have agriqua town which was called omacoln city at first (which i plan to change) then i thought about the origin of the cities and towns of pokemon and decided to look at some and decided to name by cities like that as well and so agriqua's name was born which comes from 'agri'culture referring to the farming in the area and aqua referring to the sea next to agriqua. it's based on omaha, nebraska, the largest city in nebraska and it's my home so i made it a town in pokemon.
but that's it for now in the next chapter, ethan explores the city and encounters two people, a silver haired pompadorr man from the region of kalos and the mysterious diego.
