I make my decision then and there. I need that book, and now I think I know my way in. As I saunter up to Fishlegs, Astrid, Hiccup, and the twins don't notice. Obviously Fishlegs doesn't as he's too absorbed in the book, but I feel Snotlout's eyes on the back of my head.

"So, Fishlegs," Clearly I startled him as he fumbles the book. "I see you're in charge of journaling the different dragon species in that book." He blushes as he is going to speak, but Snotlout cuts him off.

"He just writes the stuff Hiccup tells him to write down." I ignore this and look expectantly to Fishlegs. Nothing personal against Snotlout, but I need to get close to the guy with the book.

"I like to give it my own spin." Fishlegs boasts, trying to impress me.

I chuckle a little. "So you ride a Gronkle. I bet you're so thorough that those pages are just loaded with information on her."

"Oh, stop." He gushes but hands the book over, already flipped to the section on Gronkles.

Astrid catches this exchange and stomps over to us. She snatches the book from me. So close.

"I'll be taking that."

"Astrid. Why?.." Hiccup intervenes.

"I just don't think we should be trusting her with all our dragon secrets."

I try not to feel offended by this because I know she's right. They shouldn't trust me.

Hiccup gives Astrid an 'Are you serious look?' look. Astrid returns it before forcibly shoving the book in Fishleg's chest, and going to sulk on the other side of the Academy. I can't help but feel a little bad for her.

"What's up with her?" The male twin asks.

"There's another hen in the rooster house."

I block out the rest of what's said. Astrid is far from jealous.

Hiccup approaches me. "Do you want to go flying with me tonight? I can tell you about Night Furies if you're interested in learning."

Astrid huffs impatiently from her corner, growing more and more agitated. I'm getting under her skin without trying.

Now I have been presented with yet another opportunity to get the book. Now I know I can't use the direct approach. Again Astrid is too smart for that.

"Why not?"

Hiccup smiles, and Astrid has clearly had enough as she mounts her Nadder and flies out of the Academy, axe clutched in hand.
