It pained me to write this chapter. I'm going to pretend that the pain of writing this chapter is the reason why it took me so long. If you like Happy Endings, I strongly suggest you ignore the final few chapters and pretend that last chapter was the end.

Midnight Bunnyy: Throwing swords was a thing I thought up at like, two AM. I thought to myself, where can I put this idea? And then I remembered that fanfiction is where I put my two AM ideas. Perhaps we should start a business.

Jem: Sorrrryyyy, I'm so sorrryyyyy

Tam's POV

Dex called at midnight. He was in hysterics. I asked him what was wrong, but that only made him sob harder. I told him to come over. So here I stand, sitting on my front porch, wrapped in my duvet. It's black. Duh. I wrap the heavy blanket around me as I see Dex materialize in the distance. I stand up as he runs towards me, sobbing. I don't know why he came to me instead of Fitz but I'm not going to ask. I wipe the tears from under his eyes with the corner of the blanket, and then I wrap him in it. He disappears under the layers of stuffing and fabric. I feel his head bury into my chest and I press my cloaked arms into him as we go to sit on the steps.

I don't know how long we stay like that. Eventually he runs out of the tears and lifts his head off my now wet torso. I move to put my arm around his shoulder instead of his back. He will tell me eventually. I look the boy up and down. His face is tear streaked, his periwinkle eyes bloodshot and red. His hair is fading from the bright red to his normal strawberry blonde. He looks so… Innocent. I watch the shadows at the edge of the porch. I glare at them. I dare them to come closer. They don't. When Dex finally speaks his voice cracks.

"It was the neverseen," I'm not facing him. We're both staring at the trees in front of the house. I shiver and he leans a little more into me. "Keefe and F-Fitz were having a sleepover. The neverseen, they, the neverseen. Here," he takes out an imparter. It's decorated with a sticker of Silveny and a bi flag. Keefe's. "I tinkered with it so that it could take videos," he plays around with it a little more and a video pops up. It's Keefe filming Fitz as he dies his hair pink.

"I should learn better than to play truth or dare with you," the golden boy says. I hear Keefe laugh behind the camera. A sound that makes the ringing of bells sound like nails on a chalkboard.

"You'll look awesome. We can be Lord Hunkyhair and Sir Coralwig,"

"Coralwig Keefe, really?" I hear my boyfriend laugh again.

"I couldn't think of anything else," Fitz shrugs as he places a foil in his hair. A banging sound plays through the background of the video.

"What was that?" Fitz says. The camera falls onto the floor. I feel Dex bury his head in my shoulder. I have a feeling I know what's going to happen. I can feel Dex shaking again. I take his hand as the video keeps rolling. It's just audio now, the camera was facing the carpet.

"Why hello mother deary, it's been a while. And hello Father, have you joined the cause of the neverseen?"

"Maybe," Lord Cassius. His voice gives me shivers. Dex squeezes my hand. I hear Fitz whisper.

"Keefe, come here," I hear footsteps as Keefe backs into Fitz.

"Keefe your mother and I decided that since you've been refusing to join our side you must be-" he chokes on his words. Like it pains him to say them.

"Killed," Lady Gisela says, cooly. And that's when the sob comes out of me. The imparter falls into my lap as my eyes blur with tears and my hands shake. Dex buries himself into my chest again. I shift so the blanket wraps around the both of us. The imparter falls to the ground. I would worry about it later. We listen as Fitz yells "NO" and then we listen to the short fight that Keefe and Fitz put up. But we're just kids. Thet didn't stand a chance. We hear Fitz crumple to the floor. I hug Dex closer as Fitz lets out his last breath and his last word. "Dex."

Dex wails. I don't know how to comfort him. I go numb as I hear the sword impale my boyfriend. He's dead before he can speak. I'm glad. I don't know what I would've done if he'd whispered my name under his breath before collapsing to the ground. I listen as Lady Gisela and Lord Cassius exit the room. The imparter died somewhere along the timeline before Dex came and found them at Candleshade. We lay there, and we cry, and we sob, and we sit there shivering, until the blanket is wetter than it is dry, and the sun peaks over the trees. I hear the door open. Linh steps out.

"What," is her only word. At this point, our bodies were out of tears to cry. We were just sitting there, wet with our own tears shaking in the cold. My sister is wrapped in a much thinner blue blanket. She pulls the duvet off of us, taking in our haggard from. Dex is still pressed into me, my arms are still around him. "Is this… Saltwater? Have you been crying?" I nod at her and then turn to Dex.

"Hey," I whisper to him. He lifts his head off my chest to look at me, and then at Linh. He looks like shit, but I don't think I look much better. He looks back at me.

"They're dead," he whispers. I nod at him. It is around this point in our conversation that Linh figures out what's going on. I hear her retreat back inside, muttering something.

"They're dead," I affirm.

"Now what?" He asks me. I shrug.

"Now we fight back,"

I'm sorry I did that. I think this is the end unless you ask for an epilogue in the comments.

I'm really really sorry, but it had to happen.

Thanks to Jem and Midnight Bunnyy who commented a lot on this fanfic.
