Chapter 16: Cheer

The curtains closed. They opened a minute later, showing everyone who played a role in the play. The genie, Mantine, Persian, Aipom, Jafar, the Sultan, Aladdin, Jasmine, and extras were all standing in a row on stage. The theater sounded with applause. Everyone on stage bowed to the audience. The play was over. The first school play of the school year is done with. Everyone on stage worked hard to make it the best it can be and they really made it amazing by using the entire theater. The curtains closed once again. The lights in the theater turned on and people started exiting the theater. The bell would ring any moment now.

"The play was amazing. Considering theater isn't really one of my likes, seeing our friends in it really made it that much better!" Dawn said.

"Yeah. They're great actors. It's hard to believe that this is their first ever acting job." Misty said.

"And they both got the leads." Gary added.

"Well done everyone!" Lisa said. "The audience really loved it! You all can go now and I'll see you in class tomorrow!"

The theater people started leaving backstage.

"Drew, thanks for being easy on the kiss scene." May said shyly.

"No problem. You were okay with the cheek?" Drew asked.

"Yeah. That was fine." May answered. "And I can honestly say that...I had a lot of fun being one of my favorite Disney Princesses!"

"Told you you might grow to love theater." Drew said.

"Yeah, you were right."

"Hey guys!" Dawn called from the theater doors.

"Can't she tell that we're looking right at her?" Drew questioned.

"It's just Dawn being Dawn." May said.

May and Drew walked to the gang and they all exited the theater.

Riiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg!

The gang all exited the school.

"Okay. I have to say this...you two were amazing!" Dawn exclaimed.

"Umm...thanks." May said.

"And Daisy, your singing was spot on." Misty said.

"Your singing voice is really beautiful." Gary said.

May blushed and looked down. "Thanks…that means a lot…"

"You should definitely sing a song during the dance!" Dawn said.

"Uhh...I think I'll pass." May/Daisy said. "I'm still nervous to sing in front of an audience."

"Daisy, you sang great in the play." A boy said as he walked past the gang.

"Amazing stuff." Another boy said to May while walking past the gang.

"You're incredible Daisy." Another boy said. This time, he stopped at the gang and took May's hand in his. "I loved the play, only because you were in it." He shined a smile at May.

"Uhh…thank you…" May/Daisy said, blushing slightly. Drew started feeling anger inside of him build up. He didn't like seeing this guy holding Daisy's hand.

"Hey, would you maybe like to grab dinner with me later today?" The boy asked May.

The gang all silently gasped. He just asked May out on a date. Drew felt really angry now. He still didn't do anything because he knows that it's not his business.

"Umm...sorry. I can't." May said. "My parents won't let me." After hearing that, Drew relaxed.

"Well," the boy said. "Maybe some other time then." With that said, he let go of her hand and walked away.

"Well...wasn't he nice?" Dawn said.

"I guess so, but he only said he watched the play because I'm in it." May said. "I didn't like how he didn't say good job to you as well Drew."

"It's fine. My fangirls will say it." Drew said.

Like on command, a girl walked up to the gang.

"Drew, you were amazing in the play." The girl said. "And you're a really great singer! You've made me fall in love with you even more than before the play!"

"Umm...okay…" Drew said.

"I love you so much, Drew!" The girl said.

When the girl said that, May started feeling angry now. A girl just walks up to Drew and says that. What will he say?

"That's...nice." Drew said.

"So you'll be my boyfriend?" The girl asked happily.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I never said that." Drew said. "I'm not looking for a girlfriend now."

"Aww...but if you change your mind, I'll be waiting!" With that said, the fangirl walked away.

May relaxed. "Your fangirls can be crazy at times Drew."

"Yeah, but they're pretty easy to get rid of." Drew said.

"Are you sure you're not looking for a girlfriend?" Dawn asked.

"I only said that so she'll leave." Drew said. "I guess I could say that...I'm still looking for the mystery girl and maybe she'll be my girlfriend."

"Hey. Look. There's Dawn." Misty pointed out.

It's the day after the play and the pep rally is happening today. The gang is already on the bleachers. The gym is packed with mostly everyone in the school. Dawn is the only one who's not with the gang, because she's in Cheerleading. The cheerleaders will be putting on a show any second now.

"Yeah. I can't wait to see their cheer." May/Daisy said.

The audience is super loud (You know how pep rallies can be, right?). The principal of the school walked to the middle of the gym with a microphone. The audience immediately got quiet.

"Thank you all for coming to our first pep rally of the school year." Principal Susan said. The audience roared with excitement and applause.

Principal Susan raised her hand and it got quiet. "Thank you. Now put your hands together for our Petalburg Cheerleaders!" Everyone applauded again. The principal walked off to the side of the gym while the cheerleaders walked to the middle in their positions for their routine.

Their outfits are red and white (You can imagine a cheerleader outfit). It says "PB" on the front of the uniform to stand for Petalburg. On the back of the uniform, there's the head of a Pyroar to represent the school's mascot. The short uniforms definitely grabbed the boys' attention in the audience.

The leader of the cheerleaders walked forward from the back to the front. She stopped next to Dawn. Everyone looked up at them. They all see her whisper something in Dawn's ear.

Dawn gasped. "Are you sure?" She whispered. The leader nodded.

Dawn smiled. "Let's do this." She walked to the back row with the leader. Everyone looked forward again. The music started playing.

(This song is "Fired Up- Competition" from ZOMBIES. Watch the video on YouTube to see how the cheer is in this chapter.)

"Been waiting for this day to come and it was all so clear." Dawn sang while walking towards the front with everyone else cheerleading. Dawn stopped in the front. "Since I was a little girl I saw me standing here. All the times they told me 'walk away' I said 'forget it'." She sings the next line while doing a backwards cartwheel. "You know where you are headed. And we are gonna get it." Dawn added while the cheerleaders separate to the edges of the gym and pick up their red and white pom poms. They run back to the center.

The cheer captain tosses Dawn her pair of pom poms. "Taking it right to the top. We ain't got no doubts." Dawn sang. "Together we can build it up. Can you hear us now? Yeah, we see the future. It's looking really bright. Yeah, that's where we're headed. And we know how to get it."

"We were made for this. There's nothing we can't do." All cheerleaders sang together. "We're here to play. We're here to stay and win the day." They sang while Dawn walked backwards. "Cause we were made for this. Didn't come here to lose. We're here to play. We're here to stay. What's left to say when we know."

"Nothing's gonna get in our way." They sang together. "No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up." The cheerleaders in the back are doing their flips in the air. "Nothing's gonna get in our way. No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up.

"We were made for this. There's nothing we can't do." Dawn sang in the center of the gym.

"We came to play. We're here to stay and win the day." The cheerleaders sang together. "Cause we were made for this. Didn't come here to lose. We came to play. We're here to stay. What's left to say when we know."

"Nothing's gonna get in our way." They sang together. "No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up." They sang while Dawn walked backwards. Three cheerleaders helped Dawn up and she did a flip in the air. "Nothing's gonna get in our way." Dawn got caught and she carefully stepped on the floor, continuing the song. "No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up."

"Nothing's gonna get in our way." They sang again. "No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up." Everyone continued their cheer with Dawn in the front, leading them. "Nothing's gonna get in our way. No! Come on, let me hear you say. We're fired up. You're fired up. We're fired up." Everyone did their finish. The audience erupted in applause and cheers. The cheerleaders were breathing heavily from their cheer and singing.

"Wow, she was great!" Misty yelled over the loud applause.

"She really was!" May/Daisy yelled. "She was having a lot of fun down there!"

The cheerleaders walked to the edge of the gym.

"Miranda, thanks for giving me the opportunity to lead." Dawn said to the cheer captain.

"No problem." Miranda said. "I think you really earned it."

"What do you mean?" Dawn asked.

"You're one of the peppiest girls I know. How would you like to be cheer captain?"

Dawn gasped. "Really?" She asked excitedly.

Miranda nodded. Dawn looked at everyone else. They all said that they agree with Miranda.

Dawn looked at Miranda again. "I guess I'll do it!" She said happily.

"Congratulations Dawn." Miranda said as she took off a whistle that was hanging from her neck. "You've been promoted to cheer captain." She put the whistle on Dawn.

"Thanks so much! I won't let you down."

"The cheer was amazing!" May exclaimed.

"Thanks Daisy. And afterward, I became cheer captain!" Dawn said as she showed the whistle to the gang.

"That's amazing. I know you'll be great at that." Misty said.

"And tomorrow's the game, so we'll see you cheer again." Gary said.
