She was sitting on the couch, wrapped in a hand knit throw that had been made by Camille, sipping on a coffee when he came through the door. The tv was on some old movie, but she wasn't paying much attention to it. "Hi. You're home early?" She raised an eyebrow at him. "Gave the unit an early start to their night." He said bringing the takeout bag over to the couch and handing her one, before taking his seat in the old leather layZboy chair. "Thank you." She said, opening up the Chinese container. They ate in silence as the movie played. Rather, he ate, and she picked at it. Two movies had played through, and Erin's food still sat barely eaten, as she napped on the couch. Voight cleared the containers and tucked the blanket, making sure she was fully covered, before heading into his home office. Whenever he was feeling nolsstalgic, he'd pull out the old wooden box holding all of their family photos, home movies and such. He smiled at the first family photo he had after Erin had come to live with them. Her dark teen phase, she stood next to Justin, with a small scowl on her face. All plaid skirt, ripped tights and choppy hair. Reminding him how hard it had been at first, the second one he pulled out, had been only months in difference, it was one of them at the CPD picnic, a real smile had taken over the sour look she had in the last one, and he couldn't help but smile at how far she had come in those short months. There were First Day of School photos of her and Justin standing on the steps outside. Some of her and Camille working out in the garden, and so on. He felt a tear roll down his face, at the thought of his late wife. Deep down, he was terrified that Erin was about to face the same fate, but he'd never let anyone know that aside from Al. It was true, she was a fighter, but some things were a challenge for even the toughest ones.

Erin awoke to find the chair empty, and the containers she had left, were gone as well. She sat up, and wrapped the throw around her, before getting up and wandering to find out where Voight had gone. It didn't take her long to find him seated in his office. She stood silently in the doorway watching him sort through the box, and the lone tear that dropped, she knew how hard this might have been hitting him. "I'm gonna be okay." She said quietly, almost trying to convince even herself.

The truth was, they didn't know how far the cancer had progressed, and the statistics had told her that Ovarian Cancer was pretty hard to come into remission from, if late stage diagnosed. Yet, she swore she wasn't going to give up.

He looked over at the doorway toward her, as she came closer. She stood next to him, looking down at the old photos. "I miss her, too. Everyday. But you know I'm going to be okay, right?" She pointed at the pictures of them. Her eyes landing one of herself and Camille in the beautiful dress she had been gifted that first year she lived with them. She brushed the tear away from his cheek with the woolen blanket. "Of course. I miss her, just the same...I just can't lose you too. Not after her, and Justin." "I'm going to fight it. I won't be going anywhere, anytime soon." She said with a smile, leaning down to give him a hug, and he wrapped an arm around her. "I know." The pair stayed wrapped in their hug for a minute, as it had been a while since they had shared a sort of father-daughter moment.

A little while after, she was back in her room getting ready for bed, much earlier than she ever had. With her appointment at Med in the morning, she wanted to sleep as much as she could. She had left Voight in his office, and she could hear him locking up, before his footfalls were on the stairs and suddenly he was in front of her doorway. "What time do you need a ride?" She put down her hairbrush, and scrolled through her calendar on her phone.

"They have me in for nine. You really don't have to drive me." "Nonsense. I'll see you in the morning." He said, closing her door behind him. She turned over in the bed and sent sent off a text to Olivia, hoping that her flight had gone alright, before flicking off the lamp.

I hope you all had an amazing Holiday! Thanks for being so patient for this chapter! Xoxo
