Chapter 7
Jack Silversword
AN: Okay, the first part will be a backstory about one of the main characters (which you can already guess). I'm trying to do what JoJo's Bizarre Adventures: Golden Wind (or Golden Experience in Japan) did with their main characters. Yet I'm going to write about them without some sort of stuff they did in the show/manga because it was in drawn/animated, which makes it easier. So, I'm just gonna write about it and let you guys imagine some of the shit.
If you guys find it okay or good, I'll try to reveal more of the other main characters if I can. Lastly, there will be no new chapters when December comes around but will resume around...uuuuummmm...January 11th? I guess. In any case, just to give you guys the heads up.
Jack Silversword. Born in Wyoming in 2000. Yet his family wanted daughters and was unfortunately to be born as a boy. His father, George Silversword, was an owner of a small computer company yet was extremely lazy and never tended to his office. His mother, Wilma Silversword, was a proud woman who wanted to climb the social ladder and into high society. Jack also have three sisters that tormented him. Amelia, the oldest sister, used to manipulate everyone around her to have everyone wrapped around her little finger and even tries to climb the social ladder like her mother. Beatrice, the middle older sister, may seem smart, but almost as manipulative as her older sister and a gold digger. Seeking any rich man or someone with a major income, marry them, and take their money. Catherine, the youngest of the older sisters, is a bit more sadistic to Jack and loves to torment him when he turned seven. Jack's parents were disappointed that he was born a boy and never gave him much love and treat him more of a burden than a child. Even worse when they try to send him to the worst schools with a high amount of bullies and having a bad reputation. Even more worse is when they forbid him from studying and achieving his dreams, forcing him to rely on whatever they give him such as a small allowance and make him do chores around the house. Yet the worst part is when his sisters torment him and calling him all sorts of names like useless, moocher, loser and whatever else. Even torment him with My Little Pony music song by Pinkie Pie.
Despite all the torment and neglect he receives, Jack continues to stride on. When he was seven, he read an old fairy-tale about Cinderella and all the suffering she had to endure until she was saved by a fairy godmother that lead to the events of her marrying a prince. However, even as a child, he never believed in such things as fairies or such things. That also includes the Boogeyman and Santa Clause. So, Jack tried to endure the pain, study in secret, read many books in the school libraries, and learned how to avoid getting the attention of the most ruthless bullies ever. But around 2011, he made a true friend. His first friend he made, and still is, was John-Henry Smith. Both of them met in a basketball court when Jack was trying to score some hoops until J.H. came along. J.H. challenged Jack to a few rounds in a fierce one-on-one basketball game until both of them collapsed from playing so hard. Who won? It depends on who you ask. But it was the first time Jack had tasted comradery and friendship. This was later followed up by meeting some of his cousins at a family reunion, where he met Marcus and his nicer grandparents from his mother's side. Plus he also learned that his mother has been taking away Jack's birthday money and her mother said that she is making sure it is used for college. That was obviously a lie for she takes his birthday money and used it for her her own personal leisure.
As Jack grew older, he later enrolled in middle-school and a more proper school where he met all of his other friends such as Uma, Liga, Jeb, Tsuki, Jose and Muammar. Together, they try to achieve their scientific goals and create some of their more custom devices such as laptops, radio phones, and a few science fair projects that earn them third or second place. With his new laptop, he tried his luck with the stock market and created his own teaching website behind his family's back. It wasn't easy, but he manage to gain a lot of money. He receives six digits of money every week and still is. Yet when he entered his first year of college at the University of Phoenix, which unfortunately, his sisters have enrolled as well. Jack continued to get good grades until Amelia believes that he is good with the teachers and getting the answers from them. That was when he devised a plan that showed Amelia's true colors. He placed a false answer sheet for a test in his bag about finances, wait for Amelia to memorize it, and then have her exposed for the fraud she was. It worked as Amelia got a failing grade and entered a heated argument with Jack. Amelia was seriously upset as she yells at Jack in the cafeteria while Jack remained cool, calmed and collective while also being a bit smug as he expose her for a fraud she was.
After that, Amelia dropped-out after that humiliating display and expose herself as a manipulative bitch and was depressed for days. Jack took pity on her and helped her out, which she did get back on her feet but became a better person. Around the spring of 2019, his father's company finally went under and he owed one too many loans. George has been always so lazy as he spent most of his time sleeping on the couch at home while having everything be on autopilot...which backfired and he had to get a lot of loans to payoff everything that lead him to be up to his eyeballs in debt. Wilma had to sell all of her fancy shit to help pay-off the debts. That is when Jack came in and agrees to help out in exchange for George and Wilma getting an actual job and take care of the new house so they can get off their fantasy, day-dreaming asses and get back to reality. When Catherine learned of this, she wanted to take all his money so she can get an easy life. But Jack stood firm and does everything she can to keep her bitchy hands off of every dollar he has rightfully earned.
Afterwards, he and his friends came back together when the coronavirus hit and initiated a project at the start of 2020. Jack has devised a plan of curing not only the virus, but all forms of medical problems as well. Yet when the project began, Jack was the one that ran errands and shit despite being a leader. That is until we come to present day.
Jack gasps for air when he wakes up. He looks around and notices that he is the 7500 on the medical bed. His eyes gaze to his left and sees Uma reading Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo.
Uma notices Jack is awake and puts the book down, "Oh, you're awake! What a relief."
Jack's head feels like it is on fire and feels like he is getting his skull cracked open by a jackhammer. Make that three. He slowly gets back up.
"Easy. Easy." Uma makes sure Jack takes it slow. "Slowly now."
Jack groans as he place his hands on the sides of his head, "My head feels like it went through hell and back."
"Considering what you did, I bet it does." Uma reaches into her lab coat pocket and pulls out some Tylenol, "Here. This should help."
Jack takes the Tylenol, "Thanks."
Jack takes two pills, swallow them and Uma gave him a bottle of water to help with the swallowing.
"So, what happened?" Jack wants to know what happened.
Uma explains, "Well... After you passed out after destroying all demons, erasing all demonic crap in the town and turning all graboids into stone including ones underground; Jose and Jeb fixed up this trailer and we're here in Douglas."
Jack notices something about his lips. They feel odd and have a distinct taste and smell of cherries as move his lips around.
"Why do my lips taste and smell like cherries?"
Uma giggles a little, "Don't worry about it."
Jack lets it go for the time being, "So how bad is Douglas right now?"
"Ruined. Luckily, there are no demonic shit like Glendo. Yet the entire place is abandoned and there are a few corpses around. Everyone decided to check things out to see if they can find any survivors or anything that looks useful. And before you ask, yes, everyone is wearing masks and gloves while also having a few bottles of hand sanitizers."
"That's a relief." Jack drinks some more water before speaking again, "And the time?"
"Around two or ten past two last I checked. Plus no one reported in about anything out of the ordinary. Although Jeb and Jose reported about the new PS5 along with Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077. And both of them are those collector edition or game of the year types. Same with Hitman 3, Far Cry 6, and a bunch of other titles."
Jack is in disbelief as he slowly turn his head towards Uma. Games and consoles that aren't supposed to be release until November (or in this case, never) are present?
"That's impossible." Jack says as he scratches his head, "Those aren't supposed to come out until November."
"I know, right? Yet those two found them. I thought they were joking, but they sent me a picture." Uma pulls out her phone and shows him the picture, "See?"
Jack looks at the pictures as Uma flips through them. Uma shows pictures of Jeb and Jose opening the boxes and shows the console itself and the discs of the games.
"How is that possible?" Jack asks.
"I don't know." Uma puts her phone away, "But it seems things from the future are making an appearance as well."
Jack gets up and cracks his shoulders and neck, "I should take a good look around too. I'm starting to get stiff."
"Yeah, but-"
Jose and Jeb came bursting through the door with Jeb shouting, "WE'RE BA-ACK!"
Both of them came in with the consoles and games they found.
Jose says, "You wouldn't believe what the fuck we found."
"Oh, you're awake, Jack." Jeb notices before putting the stuff down, "Conas atá tú ag mothú, a chara?"
Translation: "How are you feeling, friend?"
Jack cracks his neck some more, "A slight headache, but I'm better."
"That's good to hear."
Jose puts his cargo down, "Glad to see you arriba y sobre."
Translation: "up and about."
"Yeah. Uma filled me in on what the fuck happened after I unleashed the true potential of my psychic might. But I don't think I would ever do that again. Nor do I recommend it unless circumstances are dire." He looks back at Uma, "And relax, I won't scold you for telling our new friends about our new powers. But how did they took it?"
"They took it...pretty well believe it or not. Considering what is going on and still going on, they weren't surprise but amazed."
Jack chuckles a bit, "Well, at least I can but my fears at ease. Guessing I was worried over nothing."
"You bet!" Jose snaps and winks at Jack.
Yet Jeb isn't as enthusiastic, "But we should still be careful. Some might not react well like Richie and Carly. We may come across people that would follow the old inquisition ways of the Dark Ages since everything is fucked-up beyond repair. Who knows what kind of groups would just come along and try to burn us on a cross or stake."
"I can agree on that." Jack looks out the window.
Outside the window, he sees the unfortunate destruction around. Buildings reduced to rubble or burned to a crisp, some corpses rotting in the street, and patches of grass scorched.
"Who knows what else is out there."
Richie and Carly showed up along with J.H. and Liga with Carly saying, "We're back."
All four of them have returned with some having return with a few boxes full of equipment, food, and medical supplies that were left behind. They are also glad that Jack is alright.
"Feeling alright, pal?" J.H. asks when putting some medical supplies down.
"Slight headache, put alright." Jack replies.
"That's good to hear." Richie is glad to hear that.
Carly pulls out some herbs from her box of supplies, "I got peppermint, ginger, feverfew and butterbur."
"Where did you get butterbur?" Jack asks, "That's a marsh herb. We're in a plains area."
"Got this from someone's greenhouse. Most of it was destroyed, but the herbs are still good."
"Okay, that makes sense."
Richie pulls out an apple, "I got one of the gala apples you like. Good news that they're still good." and gives it to Jack.
"Um, thanks?" Jack takes the apple, "But you don't have to go that far."
"Ah, nonsense!" Liga says as she puts stuff in the fridge, "You saved our asses back in Glendo with your 'super psychic powers' and cleared out an entire town full of abominations that humanity created." She closes the fridge, "So you deserve a lot of praise and rewards."
Jack looks at the apple, "I guess you're right. But all I did was-"
"STOP!" Liga stops Jack, "Just accept your apple and take it easy."
Jack sighs and sits back down on the bed. Yet he looks back at his group, "So where are Tsuki and Muammar?"
Tsuki and Muammar are over at the Converse County Library around 300 Walnut St. to look for more books. The library is surprisingly intact but the windows are completely damaged to the point only the tiniest of glass can be seen around the edges. The reason being is to get the up to date knowledge that they would use over at Marcus' survivalist colony. Books such as minerals, medicine, herbs, farming and much more despite some of the bad lighting as some of the lights flicker, with some dead, and only a handful of them are still functional with no problems. Yet Tsuki went over to the fiction section for more entertaining books. Once there, she found books that weren't supposed to be released until next year in one section that has a corpse of a young woman in a pink wool sweater. Tsuki first walks up to the corpse and showed respect before going through the new novels. She has one hand close to her face and bowed her head. Once that is done, she picks up the new novels.
These new novels include Soul of Cinder by Bree Barton, A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala, We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal. She picks them up and put them in a Sam's Club bag that is supposed to be used to keep stuff cold or hot.
"Hey, Tsuki?" Muammar says over the phone.
"Yeah?"
"There is something I've been wondering for a while. How long have you been in love with Jack?"
Despite wearing her mask, her face is a little bit red and her ears are bright red. "For a while." she replies, "I never actually got the chance to tell him." Tsuki checks the shelves while continuing the conversation. "I've been hiding it for as long as I can remember."
"Hubun min 'awal nazarat?"
Translation: "Love at first sight?"
"Yeah." Tsuki picks up some Harry Potter novels and add them to the bag, "When I first saw him, it was back in middle school when I moved out in Cheyenne with my family."
"Ah." Muammar goes, "Possibly saw him playing with J.H. at the time."
Tsuki tries to remember when she first saw him as she has her eyes looking up, "Hmmm... Yeah."
"Well, with you and your hourglass figure and D-cup boobs, I'm surprised you haven't thought about seducing him."
"Ha!" she laughs a little, "I think he cares more about his own survival against his family than women."
A moment of silence is filled until Tsuki speaks, "Wait, is he gay?"
"No, he's not."
Tsuki stops checking the shelves, "How do you know that?"
"... You don't wanna know." the first few seconds was filled with awkward silence that gives a hint.
Tsuki scoffs and looks down on the ground. When she did, the corpse disappeared. She rubs her eyes with her arm to make sure she's not seeing things. This disturbs her as she backs away.
"Muammar?" she whispers in a disturbed tone, "Are there any dead bodies next to you?"
"There should be- The fuck? There were three just a minute ago."
"Time to get the fuck out."
"I agree."
Both of them run over to the exit and get the fuck out before something dangerous happens. Once they both made it to the doors, a loud shriek is heard and destroys all the vases, glasses of picture frames and light fixtures above. Even cause some of the electronics such as computers to short circuit. Muammar and Tsuki look back and see the corpses standing up with strange black ooze coming out of the eye sockets, nostrils, mouths, ears and under their nails. Others have some of the strange black ooze coming our of the pores of their heads or armpits. The undead corpses are oozing this strange substance that seems to be making them reanimate and keeps on flowing out like blood. Not only that, their eyes are just as black and vacant as the ooze with no light reflecting on them. There are twenty of these undead creatures staring at them close as the last light above flickers a few seconds before dying. Muammar and Tsuki ran out of the library as fast as they could as the monsters shriek and wail more and cause any other glass to shatter or causing any sort of electronics to overload out into the street.
Tsuki shouts while running, "Watashi wa horā eiga no ichibu ni naru koto ni dōi shimasendeshita!"
Translation: "I did not agree to be part of a horror movie!"
Muammar pulls out his phone and panics, "GUYS! WE NEED TO GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!"
As the two escape, two of the reanimated corpses ran out into the sunlight but the ooze turned to dust as the corpses fall down dead once again. Tsuki notices it and seem that the black ooze hates sunlight.
Uma responds, "Why, what's going on?!"
"WE GOT MORE SHIT TO DEAL WITH AND NEED TO LEAVE!"
Tsuki says over the phone, "We need to get outta here before sun down!"
Everyone at the vehicles get everything ready and packed-up before Muammar and Tsuki come running in.
"What happened?!" Uma asks.
Muammar catches his breath as he tries to explain, "Black *pant* ooze. *pant, pant* Undead. *pant, pant* Lurk in darkness. *pant* Deep shit."
Tsuki immediately gets in her trailer, ignoring everything else around her. Even though they have super powers and went through all kinds of horrible shit, they still have their primordial fears of something that comes from the dark and something out of their childhoods that cause them to be scared of the dark. Something about the black ooze seemed to have awaken those old childhood fears. She remembers the smell of it and best described as 'Death from Hell'. It means that it smells of dead bodies, sulfur and a suffocating darkness.
They all get in their vehicles and get the hell out of the town as fast as their vehicles can go. Good news is that there are no traffic jams as they head out yet something under the streets tried to sprout out. However, they immediately turn to ash when they breach the surface. This cause the streets to cave in with all sorts of debris falls in. In the shadows, the same black ooze started to reach the surface in the shade. All the streets and the highway started to get destroyed and gets closer and closer to the ten and their vehicles.
Jeb screams after seeing the ground collapsing behind them, "WE'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!" And yes, a reference to 'Objects In Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear.'
Jose yells, "YES WE ARE!"
"NO WE'RE NOT!"
"YES WE ARE!"
J.H. is shouting, "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!" really loud and fast. "THE FUCK SHOULD I-" he gets an idea, "I got it! Guys! Let's use our power to fly our vehicles!"
In the 7500, Uma is driving and asks, "Can we do that!?"
"Only one way to find out!" Muammar says.
All eight of them use their powers as their eyes shine blue and their vehicles glow a sky blue as their vehicles started to lift high in the sky. The ground below caught up yet missed as the three vehicles flew faster as they would be on the ground as they made it out of the town.
"WOOOOOO!" Jeb cheers, "WE FUCKING SURVIVED!"
"TOLD YA!" Jose smiles.
Yet Liga takes deep breaths in the back after such a close call.
J.H. also cheers, "YEEEAAAHH! My truck now has a new trick!"
"Holy shit!" Uma says, "Forget flying cars, I can make any car fly now!"
Richie and Carly are on top of each other after the rough landing as they both go, "Ow."
Jack helps them up, "You two alright?"
"Barely." they both answer as Jack helps them up.
Muammar seems excited, "Our chances of survival has increased by a phenomenal percentage! Over one hundred if we fly over everything!"
"But best to save it when it is an emergency." Jack says, "My head still feels like it's on fire."
And thus they escaped with no casualties and live to fight another day.
Along the way, Jack asks, "So what the hell were those?"
"You got me." Tsuki replies, "And welcome back, Jack."
