Hi everyone! Welcome back to another theme that was inspired by a song that always makes me smile, so this small piece won't be sad at all. The song is The Last Unicorn from the equally named film (one I recommend watching even though it can be a bit long on certain parts).

Either way, please enjoy!

Theme: 007 - Alive
Genre: Fantasy/Happy/Romance
Warnings: None
Summary: He was alive.

The night had never seemed to last for so long, nor had it ever been this dark before. There was no moon to join him on his wait and the stars appeared to have faded too. It brought a chill to Atemu's bones he tried to ignore, but it made his stomach churn with a tightness that was nauseating. It felt as if the world around him was dying and slowly, as he was forced to wait, he did so too little by little.

He refused the care Mana tried to give him and told her to heal the others as best as she could. The aftermath of their battle was surely gruesome and he knew he should be speaking with everyone who had fought at his side, but he couldn't. Not while his throat was constricted and while he kept his rose-red eyes focused upon the point he had seen Yami last. He refused to be washed and he refused to drink or eat. What good would it do him if he would never see the other man again? What good would it do him... if there was nothing else to live for anymore?

Their world, cold and cruel, had never allowed for love to linger. It had all been about survival and Yami had told him so on many occasions. There was no time to love or be loved, as that would only bring a pain the other man hadn't wanted to live with. Atemu had been stubborn and he would be so right now, even if it would kill him in the end. After all, he had lured his lover from his shell and he had been allowed to feel what it was like to be loved in return. He wouldn't give up on that, he couldn't.

"Come back", he whispered as the eastern sky started to change colour. Slowly, as if it struggled against the darkness, the black velvet night was given an orange glow, combined with the most beautiful of yellow, pink and red. Atemu kept his gaze upon the hill where he had seen how the ritual had been completed and had swallowed Yami whole.

"Please", he whispered while he swallowed the bile from his throat and felt an unwanted tear streak down his cheek and through the bloody smear still present. It had dried, but he took no notice of that while a desperate feeling of hope started to tear his heart in too.

The sky above him grew more colourful with the second, prior to a beacon of light illuminating the horizon. It was blinding, it felt warm and Atemu felt the air leave his lungs while he gazed at the figure standing on top of the hill. He could merely see his shape, but it was no question who he was seeing in the bright light of the rising sun.

"Até!", was the call down the hill, but his legs were already moving. The sky, the world... everything had never looked so beautiful before as the sun illuminated them all, but Atemu didn't care as he wrapped his arms around the slender figure of the pale man who had called to him. "I'm alive", Yami laughed and another escaped tanned lips while both men tightened their hold upon their beloved.

"You're alive! You're here- You're back", Atemu muttered while burying his face against the other man's shoulder and pale hands grasped his blood-covered clothes tightly while Yami hummed with a sob escaping him.

"Because of you. I could hear you at the end of the tunnel. I love you", Yami chocked out, because he had never thought he would ever say that again. He had never thought he'd see Atemu again, would have his strong arms around him or his voice in his ears. Crimson eyes gleamed with tears as stared into rose-red ones and a smile curled pale lips as the tanned man leaned his forehead against Yami's own.

"I love you too. Please- Don't ever leave me again", Atemu whispered and he smiled at the soft hum he received, before pressing his lips against the ones he wanted to kiss. Everything felt right that single moment, with Yami against him and responding with just as much love as well as need to the touch he so craved. He was here... Alive.

Thank you all so much for reading and if you have the time, please leave a review. This one might not make much sense and to be fair, the only part of the song that inspired me to write this piece was the part wherein the artist sings "I'm alive". It feels so inspiring and thrilling when she sings that particular part of the song that I felt obliged to suddenly write something for it.

Hopefully you all enjoyed it either way and again, thank you very much for reading!
