15. Worried. (Pre-canon, s8)
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Harvey barged into Donna's office, mad, and it startled the latter.
"What?" Donna realized Harvey found out her lunch escapade with Katrina. That woman and her mouth, she thought.
"You're mad that I saved a kid from getting ran over?" Donna continued.
"Running through the streets with cars moving left and right? And with your heels on?! Are you trying to kill yourself?!"
"To save a kid! If you were there you might've done the exact same thing!" She exclaimed. She doesnt get why Harvey's mad when what she did was pretty heroic.
"You could've killed yourself!"
"I did not! And if I get ran over, I'll have you as my lawyer. You'll get me a lot of money from it!" She tried to lighten the conversation.
"This isn't funny Donna!"
"Harvey! I'm okay! Nothing happened. So you can calm down"
"Next time dont do it again!" Harvey said before marching out of her office.
She doesnt get why Harvey's so mad so she followed him out in the hallway.
She stopped for a bit when she saw Harvey talking to Katrina.
"You should've stopped her! You're lucky nothing happened to her!"
"Harvey! Its not her fault!" Donna marched quickly to stop Harvey from saying something else to Katrina. She assured Katrina that it wasnt her fault before walking behind Harvey who's still mad and is heading towards his office.
When Donna and Harvey are both out of sight. Samantha and Louis went up to Katrina to check if she's okay, because almost everyone in the firm saw the commotion, from Harvey barging into Donna's office until they walked into his.
"What happened?" Samantha asked.
"Harvey overheard me telling Alex about how Donna saved a kid from being ran over this afternoon"
"Well shouldnt he be glad?" Samantha couldnt help but wonder.
"With Donna's life on the line, he wouldnt be." Louis said.
"It's okay. I'm fine. Donna's fine too. It was rush hour too so cars weren't moving that fast" Katrina explained.
"Funny! Yesterday it was Donna giving me shit about how I'm not in Harvey's corner. They're just so protective of each other. If I dont know any better and you say they're just colleagues I wouldnt believe you" Samantha added.
"Welcome to the firm!" Katrina smirked.
"Okay that's enough everyone get back to work! Show's over" Gretchen said trying to disperse the people in the hallway.
Donna is now back in her office and was able to calm Harvey down a little. Reassuring him a hundred times that she's okay.
She was doing some reports when Rachel called.
"I'm guessing you heard about my lunch escapade today" she said right away.
"You should include saving children in your resume" Rachel grinned. "But are you really okay?" She asked.
"Oh my god! yes Rachel" Donna whined. She's tired of reassuring people that she's fine. "I'm sorry. I didnt mean to sound like that. It's just I had to reassure Harvey a hundred times today. Just got tired of it"
"Well I couldnt blame the man. He almost had a panic attack, Mike said"
"What?! Why would he-" Donna didnt know he almost had a panic attack and now she felt guilty. He probably thought she'll be out of his life because of what she did.
Rachel had to bid goodbye because she just called to check up on her bestfriend. Donna assured her she's fine, no scratches no anything.
It was home time and Donna was fixing her stuff when Harvey once again went to her office.
"I'm dropping you home"
"Harvey, I told you-"
"Donna please dont fight me on this" He countered. Donna knows the man wouldnt take no for an answer. She agreed to give him peace of mind. She even told him they should go out for drinks first so he could ease up. The conversation flowed normally between them and she tried to tell the whole story of what happened earlier and she could sense him being tense the whole time, so she dropped the topic. Deep inside she knows why Harvey is acting the way he did but she tried to block it off her mind, knowing Harvey, he wouldnt tell her how he really feels. She's given up the thought a long time ago even though it aches.
The next day, Donna was in the newspaper because of what she did. Harvey was reading the article and found out it was actually less worse of what he was thinking.
"I'm taking you're reading the article about Donna?" Samantha showed up in his office to drop some files for him.
"Yeah."
"She's fine Harvey"
"I know"
"Then why are you still worried?" Samantha asked.
Samantha's question got to him. Because it's Donna, he said to himself. He then remembered what he said to Jessica before about Donna, 'she's irreplaceable' and to Mike, 'because she's different' and the thousand other reasons why when someone asks him about Donna. It all suddenly dawned on him as to why he was so worried. 'Because you're inlove with her' he said to himself.
He got up from his seat and left Samantha in his office, telling her he has to go. He marched down the halls while replaying all the memories of him with Donna in his head, until he reaches her office, once again barging into it.
But this time, it was to kiss her. Because he finally realized who Donna is to him.
"I now know the reason why I was so worried"
End.
