He hadn't known what to do with his life for months now. School was still no option to go out and make friends, considering how hard it was to get him out of the house in general. Of course the hardest thing for Wade, was finding a new reason to get out of bed in the morning. Being the age he was-fifteen-was a very tough age to find a new place to restart.
Wade believed his sole purpose in life was to help people as he did with Team Possible. He felt at home and comfortable when he was with the world renowned duo. Well, he was with them metaphorically speaking, considering he was just the guy in the chair.
It had been nearly a year since the team split from its former glory. They had tried to stay in contact with Wade afterwards, but eventually both sides just fell through. Interaction between them just didn't have the same spark it did back in the good days.
None of his highly-advanced tech had been used since Team Possible ended. Throughout the year he had continued to add on to his superior setup, but never actually used any of it. Well, not yet anyway.
He continued to lie in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. The blue light of his television illuminated throughout the room. Had it been playing something he cared about or hadn't seen, then maybe he would be trying to watch. But all he was doing, was tuning out the world, in his one little daze.
As he zoned out into his own little safe space, he heard a faint sound. A faint familiar sound. It immediately threw him out of his thinking space, and caused him to turn his head to look into the room. Then, the same sound rang again. Was he going crazy? There was no way this was real.
He quickly sat up, and swung his legs over the edge of the bed. He sat perfectly still, hoping to hear the sound again.
Beep beep beep-beep
He knew it. It was real. It was real!
He started digging around all the drawers at his computer desk, unraveling and turning over anything he came across. He even grabbed some random Manila folder that he had stored away, and shook it vigorously until all the items inside fell to the floor. But alas, it wasn't what he was looking for.
It rang one last time, causing Wade to just about tear his room apart to find it.
But after nearly ten more minutes of digging, he found what he was looking for.
A Kimmunicator.
The very one he had hooked up to his entire computer system. It was a modified version, of course. One only Wade had, that was accessible to be hooked up to any type of computer or electronic of his choosing. He had unplugged it from his system ages ago when the team broke up. But finally, after all this time, Wade finally sat the hope at the end of the tunnel.
He plugged the several cords back into the small handheld device, and reached for the on switch of his computer. But he began to hesitate. What was there to panic about? Was it nerves? Or was it fear he would be let down again? He had to push through it. Without having a second thought.
So he did. He flicked the switch on, watching as each and every monitor powered on. Joy filled the young teen. He didn't know what to think. So many emotions energized through his body.
The final screen to turn on, was the central one in the middle of all his connections and adaptors. This screen, however, was not a blank screen of coding or camera surveillance like the others. No, on this screen, appeared the fiery red head, and the grinning blonde boy.
"Hey Wade.
Welcome back."

Rochester, New York
8:11 P.M.
Nearing the day's completion, the light feathery snow fell into thick white powder blowing through the wind. Though, it wasn't anything the duo hadn't endured before. Usually the two would be on a stake out in the outside of the building. But this time had they done that, their plan wouldn't work.
Ron walked down the large hallway of the 19th floor, shuttering the entire way down.
"Ron, I can hear your teeth clacking through the mic. If anyone should be shivering and chattering their teeth, it's me." The boy heard through his virtually invisible earpiece. "KP, you have the easy job here, let's not forget. I'm walking straight into a potential hot zone here!" He loudly spoke into his microphone.
"And I'll be right there if it comes to it. But none of that is going to happen, unless the Rogue shows her face tonight." Kim calmly replied back with her usual upbeat persona. "The Rogue? Really? You named her?" Ron was quick to judge her comment, almost approaching the double doors.
"I named her. And what's wrong with it? It sounds badass!" Wade said in place of Kim.
"Wade, language. And also, stop trying to make the bad guys sound cooler." The redhead replied, as she readjusted her sitting position.
Kim sat atop the roof of a corporate office building across the street from the towering skyscraper that Ron had infiltrated. She laid in the snow covered gravel in her thick red and black coat, accompanied by her ski goggles and warm gloves. Her eyes were set on Ron inside the building through a pair of enhanced binoculars Wade had equipped them with years ago.
She saw him through the window, watching as he stopped in front of the doors. "Ron, I've got full eyes. I count twelve black suits in the room. But that doesn't mean there aren't any undercover. You're gonna have to be slick with catching our, uh... prey." Kim nervously rubbed the back of her neck at that last word.
"Oh yeah, real nice KP. First we're using this guy as bait for a killer-not to mention putting me in the line of fire-but now you're also calling him prey. Very subtle of you." Ron spoke back through her earpiece with a sarcastic tone.
"Ron just knock it off and get in there! If you don't lure him outside before the Rogue gets here, this plan is a failure." She could hear Wade bark back at him.
As Kim looked through the window with the binoculars, she saw Ron turn around and look out the window, looking right at him. She knew he couldn't see her through the dark and snow and all, but he was still looking right at her to check if she was there. "Go in, you'll be fine. I'm right here if anything happens. I promise." She said back with a positive tone, and heard him sigh.
"Okay... here goes nothing." He took a deep breath, the entered the dining hall. His navy blue casual dress suit and slacks, matching with his white button up underneath, really made him blend in to the crowd. Of course he still looked too young to be there, but he could just barely pass as 21.
"You look nice in navy blue." Kim playfully said through the microphone, smiling as she watched her jittery boyfriend casual walk through the crowd of rich bachelors, attorneys, playboys, and most specifically, philanthropists. She saw him lightly give her 'the look' through the binoculars, entertained by his reaction.
"Okay, on your 2 o'clock. He's at the bar. He's speaking to someone in a maroon suit." Kim quickly got back on track, watching Ron stop in the middle of the party, and turn to look at the bar top near the back wall.
"Do you see him?" She asked.
"No but I see- Yo is that Elon Musk?" Ron's voice quickly raised in excitement, causing both Wade and Kim to flinch at such a loud jump of tone. "Ron!" Kim quickly chewed him out. "Sorry, sorry. Got a little excited there. Yeah, I see him. So... I forgot, what am I supposed to do again?" Ron questioned, as he began to approach the man at the bar. Or more specifically, their target.
"Just find a way to lure him out of the party." Wade blatantly explained. "Seriously? How am I supposed to get one of the most valuable men on the planet, out of a room full of his own security?" He complained, lowering his voice now that he was almost within arm's reach.
"I don't know! Use your... Ron Factor or something!" Wade quickly argued back.
"That's not how it works!" Ron loudly whispered into the microphone. But as he did so, his loud voice caught the attention of the man at the bar. The man they were using as bait.
Dwight Elliot, world renowned billionaire playboy. Or as only Team Possible knew him: world renowned drugs and narcotics supplier.
He calmly turned around, looking right at Ron, who had frozen in place. "Did you say something?" He casually asked. Ron opened his mouth to speak. Words were clearly forming, but no sound was coming out. He was speechless.
"Say something Ron!" Kim yelled in his earpiece.
Dwight narrowed his eyes for a brief moment, staring at the boy. "Hey... don't I know you from somewhere?" He completely turned to look at him in interest. "I.. uh.. n-no. No! We've never met before." Ron finally managed to say something.
"Wait a second... I do know you. You're Quaid's boy, aren't you?" The man said with a hint of excitement in his voice. "Uh... yes. Yes I am." Ron just went along with Elliot's statement.
"Let me but you a drink, son!" He said happily, then turned to the bartender. "Hey Jack, two rounds for me and the boy!" He spoke gleefully, gaining a nod from the bearded man.
"So Reginald, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing." He turned back to Ron, his tone dropping. As Wade and Kim we're both listening on the conversation, it was clear his 'passing' was like many of the other criminals'; assassinated.
"Yeah, uh.. thank you. Ya know, pop was always a great dude to me!" Ron tried way too hard to play it cool.
"Okay, you've got his attention! Now get him out of the party before the Rogue shows up!" He heard Kim start to rush him. "I'm doing the best I can!" He quietly shouted back into his mic. "I'm sure you are, son. Losing a parent is always hard." Dwight spoke to him, as if Ron was talking to the man himself.
As Kim watch on both Ron and the outside perimeter of the building, something caught her eye. In the window of a nearby abandoned hotel building, she saw movement. All her attention left the binoculars, and went towards the boarded up window.
The barrel of a sniper rifle, sticking right there the crack between the two wooden boards. And slightly above the scope, she saw them. The red eyes.
She felt the alert swarm through her body. "She's here. Ron, get him out of that room, now!" Kim quickly turned back to the window and said in the mic, not even bothering to use the binoculars.
Ron gulped harshly, continuing to listen to the drug kingpin babble on about some Quaid guy.
"Yeah, yeah he was the best-hey how about you and I go to the 12th floor, so I can uh..." Ron paused. He had no idea how to follow up his statement.
"The 12th floor? Is that where Quaid kept his latest projects? That rascal!" The man laughed, patting Ron on the back. Harder than Ron had liked. "Um... yes! That's exactly it! But I don't quite understand why he kept it here..?" Ron pretended to know exactly what was happening. "Kept it here? It's Quaid's building! I tell ya kid, you are a riot!" The man continued to laugh, still not leaving the bar with Ron.
"Now, Ron!" Kim yelled into the microphone. If he didn't leave with the man within the next thirty seconds, his brains were gonna spray all over the bar.
Kim watched as the assassin cocked the rifle, and turned on the red laser sight. There was no time to wait for Ron. It was cutting too close.
Kim quickly hopped to her feet, and threw down the binoculars.
"Kim, what are you doing?" Wade yelled into the earpiece.
"Forgetting the plan." She briefly replied without explanation.
Ron was listening to their conversation through the earpiece. He knew if Kim was changing the plan she had planned out so thoroughly, then something was about to go very wrong.
"Crap." He just barely squeezed in to the babbling of Dwight Elliot.
Without hesitation, he leapt off his feet, and tackled him to the floor, throwing the martini glass out of his hand.
On the outside, Kim used her grapple-gun go zip line across to the hotel window, and kicked through the boards feet first. She felt her feet completely knock the assassin to the ground, right as she pulled the trigger.
The very moment Ron's body met with Elliot's, a bullet was fired through the window of the large ballroom. Screams filled the air as people began to scatter, some dropping to the floor in a panic. Every single bodyguard in the room locked their eyes on Ron and Dwight Elliot. They quickly drew out their handguns, and ran to the spot where they laid.
Kim and the Rogue rolled harshly through the abandoned hotel room, breaking clean through an old worn table in the process. The Rogue was quick to roll to control herself, leaping back to her feet in seconds. Kim shook off the damage she was dealt, and jumped back herself.
She and the new rival circled each other, ready for one to attack.
"You're not killing anyone else. Not while I'm here to stop you." Kim sternly stated, as she stopped circling and stood still in her fighter stance. She expected no answer from the assassin, as she was fairly certain she wouldn't speak due to keeping her identity hidden.
"Tell that to the old man."
Kim's eyes widened.
The hate and rage began to boil inside of her as it did a few days ago during their last encounter.
"Who are you? What do you have to gain from killing these people. They need to be brought to justice where they'll sit in prison for the rest-
"If that were the case, we wouldn't be here, now would we. How many times have you had to throw someone back in prison a second time or more?"
She was using some type of voice scrambler. Smart.
"It doesn't matter! We don't get to decide who lives or dies!" She could tell she was starting to get a rise out of Kim. The Rogue didn't say another word. She had made her point, why argue?
Kim, for the first time in what seemed like ages, had lost her patience. She wasn't going to wait for the assassin to attack. She knew it was somewhat a trap, but she didn't care. All she wanted to do, was bury her fists into the woman's face. Repeatedly.
Kim launched herself at the woman, throwing a left handed hook punch at the woman's face. She saw it coming with ease, and blocked it with her forearm. She then raised her boot up, and slammed it forward into Kim's stomach. Kim felt the pain of the hard jab of her foot, but had to shake it off as it made her feel slide back. She placed her hand down firmly on the ground to stop herself from hitting the wall, grabbing a half-broken dinner plate in the process.
She flung it forward at the Rogues head, knowingly she wouldn't be able to dodge it with enough speed. But instead of dodging it, she did more than just surprise Kim.
She reached behind her, drew her sword from its sheath, and blocked the sharp plate in one fluid motion. Kim looked at her with shock, then immediately rolled out of the way of the incoming sword jab. The woman tried to vertical slice her soon after, barely being avoided by the redhead.
Kim rolled to the side of the slice, and kicked the Rogue's legs out from underneath her. But on her way falling to the ground, she swung horizontally at Kim. She hadn't been prepared for such a fight with an assassin. Trained killers are usually skilled in marksmanship, not combat. But another thought occurred to her; why does the Rogue have her exact fighting style?
While Kim was attempting to outsmart the killer, she was temporarily unfocused. Therefore, she again wasn't ready for another swing of the blade. The only reaction she could time, was a short block of the shoulder.
She could see it all as if it were slow motion. The blade began to swing at her, impacting directly on the bottom of her bicep. It gracefully slid across the skin, cutting open a fresh wound.
Kim screamed in pain, backing herself to the far side of the room and grabbing hold of the arm.
"You're wasting my time." She said, leaping back to her fight and holding the sword in a ready stance.
Kim was going into shock. A swordsman, for the first time, had actually gotten a hit off on her. And boy, was it a nasty yet clean cut. Whoever this woman was, she knew exactly what she was doing. Especially have fighting Kim. This has to be taught, and studied. The fact that someone had actually watched and studied her would normally have flattered her, but right now wasn't the time to showboat. If she didn't play her cards right, she could possibly die.
"Answer my question! Who are you!" Kim shouted, all her emotions building up inside.
"Oh please, you know me better than anybody. But it doesn't matter. All that matters is that I accomplish my mission. And it looks like my work here is done." The woman smoothly resheathed her sword in its back compartment.
"Work here is done? What do you-
She froze.
The Rogue watched as Kim's eyes widened, catching herself in instant realization.
"Ron! Get him out of there!" She yelled into her microphone.
-
Ron laid on top of Dwight for a brief moment, before finally being forcefully pulled off by the bodyguards. For people who are supposed to protect, these guys sure were vicious.
Ron was thrown against the wall by one of the guards, who assumed Ron was there to assassinate the man.
"I'm not the bad guy here! She's out there!" He tried to yell to get the guard's attention. But he wasn't budging. He had Ron pinned with one hand, and a gun at his chest with the other.
"Ron! Get him out of there!" He heard his love scream through his ear piece.
Ron quit listening to the guard yelling at him, and only paid his attention to the earpiece.
"It's a setup!" She yelled again.
Ron was about to question her statement, then looked forward passed the bulky guard's shoulder. Two more bodyguards had holstered their weapons, and quickly tried to pick him up and get him out as fast as possible. But the third guard, just stood there. Ron watched, as he slowly raised his glock at Dwight.
Ron pushed the pinning guard aside, and ran at the attempting killer.
"STOP!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, and reached for the killer. But it was too late. He had pulled the trigger.
Red mist shot out the front of the drug dealer's head, as he slumped down to his knees, again hitting the floor. But this time, lifeless.
-
"What did you do... What did you do!" Kim loudly screamed at the assassin, who stood feet in front of her.
"I played you, like the predictable pawn you are." Was all she replied with.
Kim was shaken. She had been outplayed. Again. And it cost the life of another criminal.
"You are not my goal, so I went easy on you. Next time you try to get in my way, I will not be so generous."
The Rogue raised her hand in the air, and threw her arm down at the ground, releasing the item she had held on to. It impacted on the torn wooden floor boards, bursting into a cloud of black smoke.
Kim attempted to jump and tackle the woman before she disappeared, but alas, there was nothing there. All she got, was a cloud of black smoke in her face. And once again, she had vanished. Right as Kim was about to get answers.
The rage filled her body. More so than it did when they first entangled one another.
"Ron-Ron! Did you save Elliot?" She shakily spoke into her mic. But, neither Ron or Wade had answered. And she knew it wasn't due to blocked coms.
"Ron!" She yelled again.
"...we didn't make it, KP.." Ron quietly spoke.
Silence.
"Rrrr... damn it!" She yelled, and punched through the nasty wooden wall. Splinters and small chunks of wood spread through the next room, with Kim pulling her fist out of the freshly large hole.
