Not a New Chapter

So… I have something to say(obviously).

I'm considering rewriting parts of the first and second chapter.

It's not something major; the partial rewrites of these two chapters wouldn't have too much of a ripple effect on the current ones, but it's been over a year and a half since I've started writing this story, and even though I don't have much content, there are a couple things in here where I just look back and cringe a little.

For example: Excalibur Morgan. When I first started writing this story, I thought, "Archer probably needs a power boost to help him," and then I wrote this scene where he acquires it(which I now feel was especially idiotic and mostly based on the emotions I was feeling at the time). Now I'm looking back and thinking, "what in the flying fuck did I write here?!"

From my viewpoint, Archer, and by extension Shirou Emiya, has always been about struggle. In the Holy Grail War as a Master, he's struggled against Servants and with holding onto his dream to be a Hero of Justice or coming to terms with reality. As a Servant himself(and Counter Guardian) he's still struggled against Servants, minus still wanting to be a Hero of Justice. So by giving him something akin to a freebie power boost to help push the plot forward feels like I'm lessening his character.

Now, there's also the other elephant in the room: Zelretch.

I'm aware that many people use him as a plot device to explain how "x" character gets into "y" world. And I'm aware that for some of the readers more well-versed in Type-Moon lore here on FFnet, this gets a little tiring after seeing it being used so many times. So to those of you guys out there who read this story, you have my apologies. This variable feels a little bit harder to remove, though, because I'm unsure of how to find a decent replacement or at the very least a valid explanation for his intervention beyond him being a troll and doing this on a whim.

Look; at the end of the day, I am neither well-versed in Type-Moon lore nor Destiny lore. I know… enough, moreso for the latter because I play it so often and read the lore or listen to Byf, Myelin Games, etc. All I have is what I know and whatever creative liberties I take for the story, that's it.

Once the next chapter is out this will be deleted.
