Messed Up

I dragged you guys out. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!' It was only a matter of time before her mother decides to send her to Hasetsu to live with her Aunt. "One, two, one, two, one, two, and... quad...land and..." Kagome muttered under her breath as she brought her leg up in a perfectly straight line, holding the pose as she skated around the rink. Lowering her leg, she spun around, swizzling her feet in rapid foot play while she skated backward.
"Take a break, we will discuss your lutz jump."
Kagome spun back to face Yurio and moved towards him. A week had passed and the song she'd finally chosen for her free skate had passed both Yurio and Viktor's approval. Viktor was helping her in the evenings with her free skate, while Yurio had her in the mornings. Nights were spent alone, practicing, and stretching, dancing in Minako's studio while she wasn't being carefully monitored by her Gold Medalist instructors.
In the week she'd been practicing her free skate and short program. Both were diverse in their own, but they carried the message of moving on and pushing forward. That message was heavy though. It was heavy because she still hadn't moved on.
"What's on your mind. Are your muscles still sore?"
Kagome shook her head, "no. I still have a bit of discoloration along my shoulder, but it's just cosmetic."
Yurio nodded, "you have a showcase exhibition in a week."
"Wait, what?"
"It is to be your short program that we showcase. So, you will work to perfect your lutz. Also, your hydroblading should be dropped lower. I want you almost touching the ice."
"... were you any good in physics? I feel like you're trying to get me to challenge the laws of gravity."
"Yes, challenge them! Always challenge them! Is not in a figure skater to acknowledge laws of physics. We defy gravity. You, you fly, and that is part of defying the laws of gravity."
His eyes pinned her down and Kagome felt heat rise to her cheeks as she turned around gripped the side of the rink. 'Right, I forgot, I'm speaking to a Russian. They are famous for doing the impossible on ice.'
"Further!"
Not even noticing that she'd brought her leg up in a perfect split. She brought her hand to her skate boot and pulled it till it was just past her face.
"You have perfect lines, Kagome. You should give more attention to them while skating."
"What does that mean?"

Yuuri laughed as he walked beside Viktor. Listening to Souta who was on his phone reading something from his I-Page, he turned at the sound of Kagome and Yurio leaving the ice rink. To be honest, he was worried that Yurio wouldn't be ready for his own competition, but the Russian blonde didn't seemed worried at all. They were in a heated discussion. From what Yuuri could make out, it was over a split twist. Specifically, adding one to her short program.
Viktor was watching from next to him, smiling warmly as he watched the two pass them by without even a glance in their general direction. It was amazing to see. When together, Yurio and Kagome didn't even notice anyone else around them. Especially when discussing the topic of figure skating. Yurio was truly invested in Kagome, and that... was beautiful. Viktor had first-hand experience in what it felt like to be wholly devoted to someone other than yourself for a cause that you believed in. The feelings your learned to cope with, and the feelings you discovered for the first time, they gave you a new outlook to life, and helped you discover a new side to yourself. Wondering if it would be the same for Yurio, he gave Yuuri a gentle nudge and they continued into the rink.
Souta watched his cousin and cousins' boyfriend enter the rink before turning back to his sister and Yurio. '...'

Gold eyes looked out at the snow-covered town. It was so small in comparison to Tokyo. Insanely so. Walking along the cobblestone sidewalks, making his way towards a bathhouse up the hill. Silence trailed heavily behind him as the townspeople took him in as a rarity to be seen. A few following him curiously with their eyes, others gave him a quick and curious glance before turning back to their daily trivialities. Sweeping, cooking, cleaning, baking and sewing. It really was a most basic town.
Stopping before the bathhouse, he took in the building before walking in. Silence fell around the room. Closing his eyes, he waited.
"Ah...a guest, here, this way please!" Hiroko smiled as she walked over and guided him around a group of her family friends who were gathered and just staring at the unknown guest.
"I'm here for Kagome."
"...Kagome..." she hesitated suddenly. "May I ask who you are?"
"My name is Sesshoumaru Taisho."
"Ah, S-Sesshoumaru."
Hiroko looked worriedly past the tall gentleman and her eyes took in her niece as she stilled in the doorway next to Yurio. The blonde stared at Sesshoumaru with a curious air, but didn't dare to speak out in the heavy silence.
"Kagome, let us speak privately."
She nodded, though it looked forced as if she had no control over her body. Walking outside, she didn't glance back to see if he was following her. She just kept walking until she was standing at the start of Kinomon Moat, she turned around finally and looked at Sesshoumaru. "...Sesshoumaru..."
"Kagome, you look healthy."
"Considering the last time you saw me, I was in the hospital, covered in IV's and bandages... I guess that's to be expected."
"..." walking to the side of the bridge, he leaned his back against the stone wall. "Physically, you look better. Your eyes right now, tell me a different story."
"I don't know what you want me to say. I―"
"Don't think that I came all the way out to this nowhere town, simply to put you down, Kagome. I came here, because you were my brothers best friend, and I needed to make sure you were okay. I know you, and I know your heart. The four of you were peas in a pod. Had it been one of the others that had survived, and the rest didn't, the situation would be the same, I assure you. Your mother told me that you had stopped eating once you returned home. I wanted to see if you had picked up the habit of eating again, or if you were still depriving your body of its basic needs."
"...I've been eating properly. I have to keep my diet strict, but I have been eating."
Nodding, he lifted his hand and held it out to her.
Kagome stared contemplating at it before she walked forward and placed hers carefully in it.
"I'm glad that you are keeping up your physical health, but now... you need to start working on your emotional health. I understand where your heart is, Kagome. I see it in your eyes, and the lines that are touching just beneath your eyes."
She dropped her gaze, but his free hand lifted her chin to meet his molten orbs, "I'm so sorry, Sesshoumaru." Tears strained against her eyes.
"Do not apologize, Kagome. It's not what I'm here for. I'm here to see to it that you don't stop living because of what happened. Inuyasha... he cared for you. He was always going on about you and your dream to compete in the Winter Olympics."
"I... I haven't given up on my dream. I'm seeing it through."
"That's good, but have you come to terms with the loss of your friends?"
No, she hadn't. She wanted to say that she had, but her voice stopped working. She brought her hand to the one holding her chin, pushing it away as she turned her eyes from his. In the distance, she could see Yurio leaning against a tree, watching, waiting. He was worried.
Looking back to Sesshoumaru who had taken the blonde in at a distance before looking back to her, she smiled brokenly. "I haven't come to terms with it, Sesshoumaru. I haven't, not yet. That's the whole point to my competing right now. It's to heal me, and it's my final farewell to my friends. Not that I plan to say goodbye."
"...Kagome."
"I want them to see me fly. I want them to know, I'm going to keep moving forward... and that when I meet them again, and I will… I'll have many stories to share with them. This life is short, and if they could speak to me one last time, I know they would tell me to keep skating. So I'm going to skate. Sesshoumaru, please, watch me. I will heal, but it takes time, and I'm in no rush. Let me feel everything, for all that it's worth, because when it's gone... that's it."
Turning, Kagome walked away from Sesshoumaru. Long white hair was pulled gently by the cold breeze, crossing in front of him before settling slowly over his shoulder. Gold eyes stayed on her form as she got further away from him, and as he gave a careful inhale and exhale, a small weight fell from his chest. Closing his eyes, he considered returning to Tokyo. 'No, I think I'd like to stay and watch her fly.'
