…Death…
I cleaned up my notes and books. I leaned back on Blaise's shoulder. I lifted my eyes as Izzy sat down in front of us. Blaise handed her the test papers he made me do. She rifled through the papers. She gave Blaise a thumbs up.
She turned to me. "What on earth are you doing?", she muttered looking at my drawings. "I'm an outdoor creature. I'm not meant to be indoors. Ouch!", I whispered dramatically Blaise had pinched my leg. Izzy snickered as she stood, "Behave yourself Char."
I glared at her as she left. Blaise closed his book. "You pinched me.", I whispered. He looked at me, "I don't know what your talking about." I continued poking him as we left the library. "I want compensation.", I demanded as we turned into an empty hall. He rounded on me. "I do believe your sister told you to behave yourself.", he said grabbing my waist.
I stared back defiantly. "You want compensation for a pinch.", he stared into my eyes. "Yep, but you're taking to long.", I relied as I kissed him. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer. "Who is this a compensation for?", he asked. "I forgot.", I replied. I leaned back a bit so I could see his face. He was smirking. "You initiated it, but you forgot."
I nodded. "Maybe I can refresh your memory.", he offered. I tilted my head up as he kissed me. He walked me backwards to the wall. He lifted me up, so I was level with him, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.
We heard someone clear their throat. "When you're done can you let my niece down so I can talk to you in private.", uncle Severus said in a lazy drawl. Blaise put me down. I watched as he beckoned Blaise into an empty classroom. He gave an amused glance as he passed.
I think he put a silencer charm on the door because I couldn't hear anything. I waited by a window for their talk to end. I jumped as the door opened.
Uncle Severus left first, and Blaise followed. "What was that all about?", I asked as the sound of uncle Severus' footsteps vanished. Blaise held a finger to his lips. "It's a secret!", I gasped. Blaise grabbed my hand, and we went on a walk through the castle.
My mind was still in a haze as I ate dinner that night. "Why hello Mrs. Wrackspurts.", Luna hugged me as she sat down. "What's wrong today", she asked. "Nothing. Just forgot something.", I replied.
I was just climbing through the portrait hole after my morning classes when I spotted Ginny and Dean arguing. I walked over by Izzy and sat on the floor. Their fight ended with them storming off in opposite directions. Ginny went upstairs. I followed her.
She was on her bed glaring at the ceiling. I pulled out a comfy blanket Mrs. Weasley had knitted. I draped it on Ginny. Tears were pouring from the corners of her eyes. I she sat up and hugged me. I let her cry for a while. I wiped the last of the tears from her face. She went to go change. She came back and crawled underneath the covers. She fell asleep and I put the blanket up.
I gathered my afternoon books and went downstairs. Ginny did not come down for the next 3 days. We finally convinced her to come downstairs to at least eat. The air was thick with tension. Ginny started to attend her classes again, and her and Dean officially broke up.
O.W.L.s were approaching so fast that I barely had time to think. Harry had detentions for attacking Draco, so Ginny took over. She played splendidly. Luna had been commentating and it was hilarious.
I was just putting my things away for the next day when my DA member alarm went off. I threw Izzy and Ginny a glance. We went immediately. We made our way to the Room of Requirement. Luna joined us after a bit followed by Ron and Neville.
We watched as Draco emerged from the room. Death Eaters followed him out of the room. A fierce battle began. We fought our way through the darkness cloud Draco had made. No one was harmed and I even managed to take down a Death Eater and stun him.
"Charlotte Black! What in Merlin's beard are you doing here?", uncle Remus questioned. I sensed something bad. I grabbed Ginny's hand and rushed towards the grounds where we found Harry chasing the other Death Eaters.
Harry collapsed on the ground. Ginny led him back to the castle. There was no sound as they escaped. I went back to the castle. Dumbledore was dead.
I sat on a courtyard bench staring at the night sky as the sun began to creep over the horizon. "Charlotte!", I heard mum cry. I sat up. Mum ran over to me. "You caused me so much worry. What were you thinking? Are you hurt?", she rambled as she perused my face. "I'm fine mum.", I whispered. Dad walked over, "Remus sent word that he found you and some classmates taking on Death Eaters by yourselves. We were very worried.", he spoke in a very take-no-prisoners voice.
"But everyone's fine. We had some Felix Felicis. We're fine.", I repeated. They finally nodded. I saw a familiar phoenix flying away from Hogwarts and gasped. My parents followed my line of sight. I took off running. I found Harry and the other DA members around Dumbledore. A crowd was forming. People were crying. Ginny took Harry to the Hospital Wing, and the other DA members followed. I sat in a corner of the wing by myself. I listened as Harry filed everyone in.
A funeral was held, and the DA members sat together. Everyone raised their wands. I felt the tears on my cheeks. Everyone comforted each other as the funeral ended.
I sat on a bench in the courtyard. I watched the sky. Blaise sat beside me. He leaned his head against mine. "Did you know?", I asked. "No, he mentioned nothing like that. He merely just wanted me to not get him in trouble for the gifts I gave you.", he responded. His voice came out in cracks. I looked at him.
His eyes were red. I wiped away some of the lingering tears. He wrapped me in a hug, more for his sake then mine. I wrapped my arms around him.
The second term came to an end and I still made it through O.W.L.s without so much as hiccup. I sat in a train compartment watching the scenery go by. I heard the compartment door slide open. Blaise entered. I jumped up. He opened his arms and walked into them. I was shaking badly. He sat down and pulled me onto his lap. He stroked my hair calmly.
"There's another war brewing out there. I can sense it.", I mumbled. Blaise placed my head on his neck. "I sense it too.", he whispered.
