Dynamics and Transitions
It was another hectic breakfast for class 1-A. Mina and Izuku were sitting together as usual, with Toru on Mina's other side and Momo on Izuku's. Kaminari and Jiro were sitting across from them, telling everyone about their plan. Her group and his group were on either outskirt of the conversation. And Aoyama was looking at you.
"So my parents are out touring for a few weeks and my place is totally empty." She raised her eyebrow with her earjack as Kaminari smirked along.
Izuku facepalmed, having a feeling of where they were going with this. Mina had her hands clasped, being giddy because she could guess what they were going to suggest.
"Let's throw a party this weekend!" Jiro and Kaminari announced together, waiting for their reactions.
"A party..." He groaned.
"A party!" She cheered.
The rest of their friends' reactions were somewhere in between from theirs, They had to convince Iida not to be a prude, but all of them agreed to go. They just had to make sure they didn't get their passes to go out all at the same time so the teachers didn't get suspicious.
"This the most teenage thing, aren't we better than this?" Izuku pondered.
"Yes it is and no we aren't. C'mon Babe it'll be fun!" Mina was pulling on his wrists with both hands like a spoiled brat.
"Um, yeah, fun." He gave her a nervous nod as he rubbed the back of his hair. "Mina, Sweetie, I don't know if you noticed but I'm a nerd." Finishing with a weak laugh.
"Yeah but like a real cool one." She complimented with a huge grin. Her positive attitude didn't let her boyfriend put himself down. He couldn't say no and agreed to go.
They were acting like the usual cute couple they were in front of the class but the both of them were thinking about last night. Mina's question was still lingering. He had given her a response but it wasn't as definitive as either of them would have wanted it to be. He could only say that he was there for her and their relationship.
"Good, now that, that's settled." Momo turned to Izuku, placing her hand on his shoulder, her fingernails softly scratching over the fabric. She grew a small smile as she asked. "Ne, it's been a while since we've gone to karaoke, hasn't it?" Referring to his clique of friends. "We were planning to today and we were thinking if you'd want to tag along?" Her loose strand of hair had a playful bounce as she finished her question.
"Hm, yeah sounds fun," Izuku then turned to Mina, "You wanna come hang out with us?"
Mina glanced at his friends and the standing invitation. For some reason, she didn't feel included when Yaoyorozu asked. Not only that but Uraraka was probably going with them and it would feel so weird given that they hadn't really talked to the other since she got into a relationship with Izuku. As if picking up on her vibe, Toru answered for her friend. "Ah, thanks Midoriya, but I already had plans to invite Mina, er, to go with us to the arcade, yeah the arcade. Isn't that right guys?" She nodded to Mina's group of friends. Kirishima was the only one to pick up on it and went along with it, when Bakugo was about to protest about hanging out with anyone, Kirishima actually elbowed his side to shut him up. Bakugo grunted, holding his gut as he agreed to it while glaring at his friend.
Mina was confused until she realized that it was her friend giving her an out option. She decided to take it given the awkwardness she felt. "Ugh, yeah Babe, sorry. Let's just hang out with our friends today, okay?" She clasped her hands together with closed eyes asking if it was fine.
"Oh, um, sure." But he felt confused. The tone in her voice made the clear distinction that they belonged to individual groups.
Although neither of them admitted it, the more they tried to ignore it the more apparent their differences became. Given that and their already quickly developed intimacy, they both had a lot on their mind. They walked to class together but it wasn't as perky and jumpy as her energy would usually add but instead, it was a quiet handholding stroll. And her thumb would still brush over his skin as he continued to give gentle squeezes here and there.
In class, they were both pondering their problems. Izuku's stomach was doing flips as he thought about the upcoming party this weekend. Mina was really excited about it but that just added another thing that separated their interests, not only that but Kirishima looked a bit on edge and he didn't like it. 'Although who could blame him after what I said to him.'
Mina was zoned out during the lecture as usual but this time it was important, to her at least. There was something off about breakfast this morning, at least from Izuku's side of friends. Although she did try to tell herself that it was just because the class was still getting used to her sudden relationship with Izuku. But apart of her knew that wasn't it, it was more like they were upset that he wasn't hanging out with them as he usually did. It probably messed with the dynamics of his friend group because Izuku was most likely the glue that held them together even if he didn't realize it. The same couldn't be said about her, Bakugo was at the center of her group, she didn't have to be there for the group to function. She was unaware that her presence in the group did affect Kirishim's mood though. She couldn't map her thoughts as clear as she wanted to but figured it was a step forward in her processing ability. She smiled to herself at the thought, thinking it was something she picked up from Izuku.
The school bell had rang for that day. Bakusquad and Dekusquad were walking together, all of them heading to the red light district to hang out individually. Mina and Izuku were next to each other but they weren't holding hands. Uraraka and Kirishima were being more talkative, either trying to get over the awkwardness of their situation or trying to let their emotions get through in subtle ways.
And they all got on to the train leading to the night's activities.
