Chapter 7
Training. I hate it now. I mean, how are you supposed to like it when your sparring partner is out to kill you and you don't even know how to fight properly? It sickens me knowing that I'll have to get a "partner" soon. You can guess what happens next. Only one of us will make it out alive. I'm going to have to kill a child.
'It would be better to die, almost like killing two birds with one stone. You wouldn't have to kill any children, and you don't have to go through the torture sessions while losing all your emotions in the process.' I muttered while strapping my tanto securely to my back.
'Just kidding. I have to endure no matter what. Just about ten more years of this until Duck-Head kills the bastard.'
I sighed loudly as a but my blank white mask on over my face. It had been eight months, I was six years old now. After six months you had to go on missions, solo or in groups. After a year the kids who survived were put into groups of two until graduation. Your partner was basically family. If you betrayed root, you die. I won't doubt for a second that I will be watched on this mission. Most of the missions from root were assignation missions that regular anbu didn't take, I luckily haven't had and of those, yet.
I walked out the door and mindlessly strolled to the "mission room" already knowing the way from muscle memory.
Unlucky. I'm unlucky because I have to slaughter someone. Not just anyone. A freaking chunin. I'm nowhere near that level. The reason why was because Danzo had suspicions that they were not loyal to Danzo even though they were part of root. At least it wasn't a child.
Fukuda Toyo:
Age: 27
Rank: Chunin
Skill level: low-mid chunin
Chakra nature: Fire
Hair color: Dark brown
Eye color: Magenta
Height: 179.3 cm
Weight: 86 kg
My mission was to follow him while he as on his own mission and choose the best chance to strike. If I fail, then I only die, right?
I had been trained in tracking and assignation. Not that I really knew anything about it. I was just mildly trained in chakra sensing and smell. Not in stealth yet, it was extremely difficult to stay out of sight and still track him. I could already sense chakra, not from long distances though.
He was guarding a merchant. They were traveling at civilian speeds, obviously. It didn't make this any less hard, I had to compress my chakra signature while staying out of sight, and not making a noise.
I watch his every move as they set up camp for tonight, from what I could tell, Fukuda-san had a calm and quiet personality but was extremely kind. He put the merchant before him. Well, that's what you're supposed to do on a mission but, he would always smile softly at the merchant whenever they needed something and never hesitated to help.
I swallowed back the slowly rising vomit in my throat. Why did he have to be nice? Why couldn't he have been mean? I would've felt less guilty, barely less now that I think about it. Nothing would take away the fact that he had a family to return to.
I managed to silently follow as he sprinted back to the Leaf village. Now. I had to do it now. I couldn't let him get to close to village.
I flung multiple shuriken towards him from behind, they all missed. All it managed to do was get him to turn around in time to block the strike from my tanto aimed at his neck. I leapt to the side to dodge a kick that I barely managed to even see.
"Danzo sent you." An icy voice confirmed. It wasn't a question, he was just stating a fact. I didn't respond.
I parried a strike from kunai, avoiding death by an inch. This was going to be hard. I grunted as I blocked another punch with my forearm, most likely fracturing it. Ouch, should've dodged that instead.
His fighting style relied on strength and speed, overwhelming his enemies.
I yelped in pain as I was kicked about 30 feet away, barely managing to land properly just in time to see a fire ball coming towards me at a fast speed. I could feel the heat radiating off it. I only had one chance at this.
I used the smoke as a cover as I leapt of a tree rushing towards him intent on ending the chunin's life quickly as possible. I felt my Tanto slide almost easily through flesh with a loud squelching noise, only to be blinded by a plume of white smoke.
'Shadow clones? He's not even taking this fight seriously!'
I suddenly felt a presence of chakra behind me, I didn't think, I just stabbed.
We both stared at each other in shock as blood splattered across my mask, from where I just stabbed a kidney. He was still staring at me in shock, kunai raised above his head, ready to strike a killing blow. I didn't hesitate to pull my tanto out of his gut and slice across his neck.
He was dead before he hit the ground. I fell into a sitting position, still in shock before I wordlessly sealed his body into a scroll.
I just killed someone.
I'm not good at writing fighting scenes, as you can tell. Sorry I haven't updated. I had writers block, but I'm good now so don't worry. Please review and tell me what you think. Thanks for reading and stay safe!
Ja ne!
