Round 1: Satoshi vs. Harrison

-4 Days Later-

Ash sat in the locker room waiting to be called into the stadium. Harrison never betrayed Ash, but Ash still had to win. He wanted to show how much 11 years of intense training can do to a person's battling skills.

'Satoshi, please make your way to the arena,' the intercom said.

'It's finally here.'

Ash walked down a long hallway into the stadium. The crowd cheered. Then Harrison came out on the other side of the arena and the crowd cheered even more. Harrison had always had a presence in the Pokemon League Tournaments ever since the Silver Conference in Johto. Nowadays, Ash wasn't certain what he was up to, or what his strengths were.

Then the ref entered. "This will be a clean 6 on 6 single match between the two trainers Harrison and Satoshi. Substitutions are allowed. After three Pokemon on one team are knocked out, there will be a 5 minute intermission. There will be no terrain on the field. Harrison you get the first move."

"Alright then. Go Heliolisk," Harrison said, sending out the electric/normal type Pokemon that resembled a yellow lizard, with a large frill folded around its neck.

'Heliolisk huh,' Ash thought. "Donphan, may the Aura guide you." The ground type Pokemon hit the field rolling, speeding a circle around its opponent, before springing to a halt before its trainer. Rearing on its hind legs, it let out a battle cry.

"Heliolisk use Parabolic Charge!"

"Take it head on!"

Heliolisk folded skin shot outwards as it fired the electric-type attack from its head. The electric attack hit Donphan, but the elephant-like Pokemon was unphased.

"Tsk tsk Harrison," Ash said in a low voice. "Don't you remember that electric type moves don't affect ground type Pokemon. Donphan use Earthquake."

'Don!' The elephant Pokemon said, remaining in place. Instead of using Earthquake, Donphan scanned around the area, dazed.

"I wasn't trying to use Parabolic Charge to damage Donphan! I just needed to bling it!" Harrison called out. "Now Heliolisk use-"

"Rollout!" 'Satoshi' commanded. His Donphan lunged forwards into a ball, speeding across the battlefield. Heliolisk turned and began running in a zig-zag pattern to escape the Pokemon speeding towards it, but it stood no chance. Donphan did not have to see in order to chase down an opponent when it was curled up into a ball. Crushing its opponent under itself as it passed by, Donphan rolled back in front of its trainer.

"Your eyes feelin' alright?" The Aura Guardian said.

'Good as new!' His Pokemon responded.

"Then let's use Stone Edge!"

Donphan stomped on the ground with a single foot, causing the earth beneath it to shake. Large jagged rocks shot up out of the ground right below Heliolisk, sending it high into the air. When the tremors in the earth subsided and the rocks left the field, the lizard Pokemon hit the ground with a thud. "Heliolisk is unable to battle, Harrison, choose your next Pokemon."

"Well, that strategy was worth a shot!" Harrison said, returning his fainted Kalos Pokemon. "Houndoom, let's go!" The black, horned-dog Pokemon landed on all fours, snarling at Ash and his Pokemon.

Ash held out Donphan's pokeball and returned him, opting to switch battlers. "Go Blastoise!"

Ash sent out what used to be his Squirtle, who had now reached its final evolution. The large turtle like Pokemon came out of the ball and shot two streams of water into the air.

"Houndoom, Dark Pulse," Harrison commanded.

"Overpower it with a Hydro Pump."

Houndoom shot black rings at Blastoise, but the cannons on the Pokemon's back targeted and shot off two Hydro Pumps. One collided with the Dark Pulse while the other straight on hit Houndoom.

Houndoom fell to the ground but slowly began to rise back up. "Houndoom return," Harrison commanded. "I'll use you later. Go, Pidgeotto!" Bursting from its ball was the middle-stage evolution of the Regional bird of Kanto. "Pidgeotto, dive bomb Blastoise and use Peck!"

"Blastoise use Ice Beam when it swoops down to get you!"

Pidgeotto flew down as its beak glowed white. Blastoise formed a light blue ball in its hands. Pidgeotto was just 5 feet in front of Blastoise when it shot the Ice Beam.

"Pidgeotto, try to evade it!" Harrison cried out. It was too late. Pidgeotto froze in mid air and fell to the ground still frozen solid.

"Now Blastoise use Vital Throw to throw it into the air. Then hit it with a Hydro Cannon."

Blastoise picked up the Pidgeotto encased in ice and threw it into the air. As the ice block flew into the air, Ash's Pokemon fired two balls of water at the ice. Pidgeotto broke out of the ice and fell to the ground.

"Pidgeotto is unable to battle! Harrison, choose your next Pokemon."

"Go Kecleon," Harrison said. The chameleon-like Pokemon jumped out of the ball, and immediately turned invisible once it entered the field.

"Blastoise, return," Ash said. "Go Gallade!"

Ash sent out his swordsman-like Pokemon, who stood at the ready. It crossed its arms and then slashed them forward, sending out a Psychic pulse, which revealed Kecleon's hiding spot.

"Kecleon use Lick." Kecleon shot out its long tongue at Gallade.

"Gallade use Close Combat to block it!" Gallade began punching the tongue to prevent it from reaching him. Just then Kecleon glowed, but the glow subsided.

"Kecleon is a fighting type right now thanks to its ability Color Change," Harrison commented.

"Perfect," Ash said. "Gallade, use Psychic." Gallade's eyes glowed blue. A blue light glowed around Kecleon as it got lifted into the air. "Gallade, use Psycho Cut!"Gallade crossed its arms and shot out two purple blasts from its forearms. Kecleon would be hit by the super effective attack, crashing to the ground below.

"Ah man!" Harrison said, returning the unconscious Pokemon. "Kecleon barely stood a chance against Gallade once it became a fighting type!"

"Sorry pal," Satoshi said. "That's the risk you take with that Pokemon!"

"Kecleon is unable to battle. Three of Harrison's Pokemon have been knocked out so we will take a short break."

Ash retired to his locker room for the intermission. 'First battle and the Team's lookin real good! Maybe a little bit too good… I don't want to sound cocky, but I'm kinda crushing him right now. That's why I have to be careful not to underestimate him,' Ash thought to himself.

'I am uncertain whether or not that is the case,' Spoke a telepathic voice within his mind. 'You have spent a considerable amount of years training your Aura on Mount Silver. You have honed in on your craft, and have exceeded your opponent's skill level.'

'Huh, me being stronger than Harrison?' Ash pondered to himself. 'I guess I'll have to win the battle before I can make that call. Guess I better get back onto the field. Thanks for the chat.'

'Of course,' The voice said. 'But anytime you would like to use me for a battle, I am "game."'

"We'll see," Ash said, pulling up his hood and exiting his locker room to enter the battlefield once more.

-5 Minutes later-

"And we are back to this Riveting Round One battle! As of now Harrison only has three Pokemon, while Satoshi has a full team of six! Who will come out as victor in this early Clash of the Titans?!" An announcer's voice rang across the stadium.

"Satoshi, you get the first move this turn!" The ref announced.

"Alright then!" Ash said, winding up his throw. "Go Snorlax." The large Pokemon came out of its ball in an upright position for once.

"Go Hypno," Harrison said. The yellow Pokemon came out holding its hypnotic ring forwards, and let out a shriek. "Hypno use Hypnosis!"

Several yellow rings came out of the metal ring on the string hitting Snorlax directly. The large Pokemon fell backwards and went to sleep.

"Snorlax use Snore."

Snorlax did so, snoring so loudly that Hypno was taking damage from the guttural noises exiting the mouth of the slumbering Pokemon. Hypno clasped its ears and fell to its knees as if it were pleading for mercy.

Mid-attack, Snorlax's eyes opened, and in them was a look of rage. After many years of rigorous training with Ash, Snorlax developed quite an appetite for battling over sleeping, which was uncharacteristic for many of its kind. But to be put to sleep at the hands of a Hypno was not something that Snorlax was about to accept.

"Snorlax, use Hyper Beam." Snorlax formed a bright orange ball in its mouth. It fired a large beam of orange light at Hypno that hit it directly. The audience cheered loudly, as Snorlax's were typically a favorite to watch in League Battles.

'That's what you get for putting me to sleep without my consent,' Snorlax said through the Aura, bumping a fist with its trainer.

"Hypno is unable to battle. Harrison choose your next Pokemon."

"Alright Houndoom, let's do this," Harrison shouted.

"Snorlax, return," Ash said. "Meowth let's do this."

"Ready Boss," Meowth said, jumping off of Ash's shoulder.

"Houndoom, Flame Charge."

"Meowth, it's time to put our training to use! Stop it with the biggest Water Pulse you can create."

"I'm on it Boss!" Meowth called out to its trainer.

Just as the flames began to swirl around Houndoom's body, Meowth formed a giant blue orb of water between its paws. Meowth raised the orb over its head and threw it at its opponent, stopping the Flame Charge, and hitting Houndoom so hard that it fainted.

"Houndoom is unable to battle, Harrison, choose your final Pokemon."

"I-I did it Boss!" Meowth said, shocked. Meowth grew with excitement, as he shot his claws out, ready to do some more damage to Harrison's Pokemon. "Who's next?! I'll take 'em on! I'll take 'em all on!"

"Woah, woah, woah, slow your roll, Meowth," The cloaked trainer said to his passionate Pokemon. "I promised Charizard that he could have this last battle."

"Eh, works for me," Meowth said, retracting its claws and walking back to its trainer, leaping to its spot on Ash's shoulder.

"Go Charizard!" Ash said.

The Kanto Starter shot a large Flamethrower into the air, which illuminated the stadium. This caused the crowd to go wild. Ash's Charizard turned and looked into the crowd. In the stands there was a certain trainer with a certain rat in his lap. The Pikachu on Max's lap had a puzzled look on his face, wondering why that Charizard had looked so familiar.

"Go Blaziken!" Harrison said. The fire/fighting type saw Charizard and recognized it from their battle in the Silver Conference 11 years ago. As a sign of respect, Blaziken bowed its head, before entering a fighting stance and igniting the flames around its wrists. Charizard flared its nostrils, flung its wings outward and let out a roar which sent the audience into a massive uproar. While Blaziken was going up against Ash 6 to 1, it wasn't going down without a fight.

"Charizard use Dragon Rage!"

"Blaziken use Blaze Kick."

Charizard shot a yellow stream of power straight at Blaziken before it could use its attack, striking the Pokemon in the chest. The Hoenn Starter fell to its knees, before springing forwards, pushing off the ground with one hand. With one foot engulfed in flames, Blaziken brought its foot down onto Charizard's head in a downward motion.

"Blaziken use Flame Burst."

"Charizard, dodge and use our combo move."

Blaziken shot a blast of fire at Charizard, but Charizard simply flew to the side. Charizard then started a wing attack, but blew its Flamethrower on its wings. This caused Charizard to have wings that roared with flames, similar in appearance to that of a Gigantamax Charizard.

Charizard flew down and hit Blaziken making it fall down to the ground. All of a sudden, Blaziken's ability, Blaze, kicked in. This gave Blaziken's fire type attacks an extreme boost in power.

"Blaziken, your strongest ability kicked in. Let's hit him with a Blaze Kick!" Blaziken set its feet up in flames and jumped into the air in an attempt to hit Charizard.

"Charizard, grab Blaziken's leg and use Seismic Toss."

Charizard gripped onto Blaziken's leg before it could make contact and took off into the skies. Charizard held tightly onto Blaziken as it began flying around in circles. Charizard then made a nose dive straight towards the ground, where both Pokemon slammed into the ground. Dust rose, then settled on the battlefield, which revealed Charizard to be standing while Blaziken was laid out on the ground.

"Blaziken is unable to–"

Just then Blaziken began to rise, pushing itself off the ground. Charizard fell to the ground. Blaziken walked over and stood above Charizard, staring at the Pokemon on the ground. It knew that one final attack would finish it off in the battle. What Blaziken didn't know was that this was all a diversion.

"Charizard use Dragon Pulse!"

Charizard quickly opened its eyes and Blaziken looked shocked to see that Charizard was never about to faint, not even close. Charizard then fired off a large blue pulse straight at its foe, which struck Blaziken in the face. As if it were moving in slow motion, Blaziken spun backwards towards its trainer and landed face down on the ground, unconscious.

"Blaziken is unable to battle! That means Charizard and Satoshi are the winners!"

Harrison met Ash in the center circle of the arena. "Nice job Satoshi," Harrison said. "I don't lose to that many people, but you must be pretty tough since you have all six of your Pokemon left. I haven't had a battle this intense in years. The trainer I battled used a Charizard like yours."

"I know Harrison," Ash said, before pulling him closer so he could whisper the next part in his ear. "Because I was that trainer. It's me, Ash."

"Wait...It is you," Harrison exclaimed, finally catching a good look at his face behind the hood. "Everyone said that you disappeared 11 years ago. Some thought you were dead."

"Well I'm here and I'm alive. And tone it down a little. I'm laying low for a while."

"Sorry. You wanna catch up later?" Harrison asked.

"Of course," Ash replied, shaking hands with his old acquaintance. "I just want to catch the end of one of my friend's matches if that's cool."

"Alright," Harrison said in a cheery voice for someone who had just lost his match. "I'll come with!"
