CHAPTER SEVEN

Deadpool and his two travelling companions emerged inside of what appeared to be a medical facility. Cable was still attired in his trench coat, hat, and sunglasses. The new arrivals still got a glance or two seeing as Deadpool was still dressed in his colorful costume.

"Its a little early for Halloween, freak." One of the medical attendants, who was sporting an afro, announced as he passed by the strange trio.

Deadpool gasped at the man in feigned offense. "Isn't that afro a little too 1970's, black Bob Ross?"

The attendant looked confused. "It is the seventies, lame brain."

Deadpool glanced at the Temporal Dial which read: July 7th, 1973. He nodded. "Yep, definitely is the seventies. Carry on, afro guy."

The afro sporting medical attendant shook his head and continued on with his business.

Cable wondered aloud. "So, what brings us here to the 1970's?"

"If I'm not mistaken," Xavier began, "we've just been brought to the beginning of the new timeline after Logan came back and saved us all from a dystopian future."

Deadpool then noticed an unconscious Wolverine lying in a bed in front of them. "Ahhh, he looks so cute and harmless when he's sleeping."

"What the hell are you three doing here?" A man clad in a military uniform asked as he approached.

The three new arrivals recognized the man as a younger William Stryker. His gaze lingered on Xavier for a moment before he addressed all three of them. "Only authorized personnel are allowed here."

Xavier scanned the man before smirking. "Raven, I must say that you've acquired more comely disguises than this in the past."

Stryker glanced around to see no one was watching them before transforming into Raven Darkholme. "Never could fool you, Charles. What are y'all doing here."

"We never really seem to know," Cable commented. "We just kinda roll with it at this point."

Xavier pointed towards Deadpool. "Deadpool here has many questions about our convoluted past so we're traipsing around the timeline trying to make sense of a few things."

Raven smirked. "Am I supposed to understand any of what you just said?"

Deadpool snapped his fingers. "I get why we're here. At the end of Days of Future Past Mystique acquired Wolverine in the guise of William Stryker but by Apocalypse he was actually in the possession of the real William Stryker. This must be where we learn how that came to be."

"Huh?" Xavier, Cable, and Raven all asked at once.

Deadpool sighed, "This would all be so much easier if you all knew that you came from a movie franchise."

"You watch to many movies, Wade." Cable announced.

"Grrrrrrrr!"

The growl came from the bed inhabited by Wolverine. He shot up out of the bed and extended his bone claws. "Where the hell am I!?"

The four mutants looked at him and couldn't think of anything to say.

Wolverine studied them and then lingered on the man in the wheel chair for a moment. "I've seen you before. You once tried to recruit me to some team and then I remember being in a room with you and you said I was on acid." He then paused and thought. "Except you had hair then...and you could walk."

Deadpool chuckled. "Nobody seems to be able to forget about your exceptional hair, Charlie."

Xavier rolled his eyes. "Shut up, Deadpool. And don't call me Charlie."

"Why am I here!?" Wolverine shouted. "Did you drug me with acid and try to force me onto your team, baldy?"

Xavier shook his head. "No, of course not. You were helping me with a problem then. Please allow me to help you now."

Wolverine looked around at his surroundings and realized that there was no threat. He retracted his claws and shook his head. "Not likely. I help only myself. Last thing I remember is going to bed with a woman that belonged to a man that was employing me. I imagine I'm out of that job now."

Deadpool snickered. "I should say so. You chopped his goons up and then stole his ride."

"How do you know that?" Wolverine asked suspiciously. "You been following me or something?"

"Oh, I'm a super fan and have been following you ever since you first donned those claws on the big screen!" Deadpool excitedly stated.

Wolverine extended his claws again and then shoved them both into Deadpool's chest. "Here they are up close and personal, bub!"

Deadpool gasped. "Would it be weird if I announced that I just had an orgasm right now."

Wolverine retracted his claws and was stunned to see that Deadpool was still standing and unaffected by the six bone claws that just entered into his chest cavity.

"Who the hell are you?" Wolverine asked.

"I'm your long lost brother!" Deadpool lied. "See, I have mutant healing abilities just like yours. Let's run away and have many adventures together."

Xavier rubbed his temple. "Deadpool, please behave yourself."

"I don't know who the freak in the red suit is but he ain't your brother." A new arrival announced.

They all turned to see the new arrival. It was a man who looked very similar to Wolverine with a feral look about him and long fingernails that appeared to belong more on a Sabretooth rather than a man.

"I am," the man said. "Did you miss me, Jimmy?"

"Victor!" Wolverine exclaimed. He went over and hugged his half brother."It's been a while."

"Yes, it has." They finished their embrace and then Victor Creed glanced at the four strangers. "Who the hell are they?"

Wolverine shrugged. "Just a bunch of weirdos. What have you been up to?"

"Fighting in a war, little brother." Creed said. "The Vietnam War to be precise. It's been a while since you and I fought together. World War II if I'm not mistaken and I figured you might wanna get in on the action."

Wolverine sighed. "I'm just about tired of wars, Victor. Haven't we fought enough?"

"The fight never ends, Jimmy." Creed said.

"I've got another suggestion."

It was Raven who spoke and everyone turned toward her.

She continued, "I brought your comatose body out of the water and brought you here to safety, waiting for you to regain consciousness."

"What do you want?" Wolverine asked sarcastically. "A cookie?"

"I want to offer you a proposal," Raven said.

Wolverine shook his head. "Look kid, you're real cute and all but I ain't the marrying type."

Deadpool laughed and Raven glared at him before turning back to Wolverine. "Not that kind of proposal. I know a group of people who take in people like you. They're called the X-Men and they could really use a man of your talents on the team."

"I'm not what you'd call a team player," Wolverine stated. He then looked back at his brother. "Another war, huh?"

Creed nodded. "That's right. How bout we go and kill us some Vietcong?"

"Count me in." Wolverine said. He then looked back at the four mutants. "I want be seeing y'all around."

With that, he and Victor Creed exited the medical room.

Raven sighed. "Well, I tried." She then turned toward Xavier. "And you were no help at all and what is up with the bald head?"

Xavier smiled at her. "It wasn't time for him to come to us yet, Raven. Everything works out the way it is meant to in its own time. As for the hair, I'm not the Charles Xavier from this time that you know."

Raven shook her head. "I'm not going to even ask."

"It's better that you don't." Xavier said.

"You know I'm not coming back, right." Raven said.

Xavier smiled fondly at her. "I know. But you will one day. As I said, everything works out the way it is meant to in its own time."

Raven smiled and then hugged him. "Ever the optimist, Charles. I'll see you around."

"That you will." Xavier agreed.

She then exited the room, leaving the three time travellers alone.

They were all three silent for a moment before Deadpool said, "Do y'all wonder if this whole scene would have turned out different had we not been here?"

"What do you mean?" Cable asked.

"I mean we went back in time to this day and Wolverine wasn't none too pleased about seeing the man who gave him acid. Maybe that played a hand in why he didn't trust Mystique with her recruiting proposal."

"I didn't give the man acid!" Xavier argued. "But I get what you're saying. We have to be careful in our travels to make sure that we don't further damage the timeline."

"Well then, I suggest we take Deadpool back to 2021 because all he knows how to do is damage shit." Cable interjected.

"Ouch!" Deadpool placed a hand to his heart, feigning being offended. "But also true."

"This is Deadpool's show, Nathan." Xavier said. "We're just along for the ride."

Deadpool nodded. "Also true. We did learn one thing from this little excursion though."

"What's that?" Cable asked.

"That Wolverine went to Vietnam with his brother which will directly lead into the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Deadpool answered. "Gotta say, I was really hoping that that shit show of a movie was no longer a thing in the new timeline."

Xavier seemed to not comprehend the statement of their life's events being a movie but he he did say, "I think this next trip of ours will also prove to be enlightening for you as well, Wade Wilson."

The Temporal Dial started going off again and Xavier and Cable grabbed a hold of Deadpool's arm.

Before they disappeared, Deadpool said to Xavier, "Don't count on it, Baldilocks."
