It felt like they'd been across the entire continent before Asia finally practically dragged the poor two toned boy through the doors of her small apartment. The short trip she'd described apparently had taken much longer because not only had she stopped to help everyone she came across, the former nun had also managed to wander further than she'd thought, something that humored Sasaki when he remembered how he'd ended up meeting the similarly airheaded blonde.

Upon noticing the tired form of her new companion, Asia apologised profusely as was in her nature.

"Oh lord I am so sorry friend I didn't realise how long we'd walked for" she worriedly blurted while taking Sasaki on her shoulder and helping him over to one of the couches nearby.

Sasaki slumped down onto the seat and waved his hand dismissing her concerns.

"Don't worry about it you were helping others, how could I be mad at you for that?" he rhetorically replied earning another worried glance from the blonde but she seemed to relax if only slightly.

Sasaki patted the seat next to him to which Asia seated herself but not without maintaining a worried gaze upon the two toned boy that he couldn't help think was so annoying.

He shook his head suddenly, his curly locks wafting around as the girl next to him furrowed her brow in confusion.

"Quit with the staring would you, i'm fine, it's just that i'm not as able bodied as most" he gave her the suppressed version of his condition in an attempt to alleviate her worry.

Asia was slightly confused by the slightly more blunt explanation he'd given her but took it as a sign that she needed to help him much to his chagrin.

"Then please allow me to support you during your stay" she smiled and bowed before him.

Sasaki sighed.

"Alright then, i'm in your care" he gave her a half smile back, something she noticed but didn't question before walking into the open kitchen.

'What have I gotten myself into Ddraig?' he mentally asked almost not expecting a response considering the dragon's earlier state.

(Something that may just be the answer to your problems) came the unexpected response causing Sasaki to jump.

'Ddraig when did you wake up?" he questioned the dragon.

(The spike of emotion when you got pissed and kicked over that bin before meeting the blonde girl woke me up and as much as I wanted to give you a piece of my mind, I decided to watch your interaction with her. You seem calmer when she's around and more likely to suppress those 'episodes') the dragon explained referencing his multiple personality slips.

The boy cringed as he was reminded.

"In my defense everything hit me at once and I wasn't exactly in a stable mood" he chuckled darkly earning a short confused stare from Asia.

(Haise... I don't want to ask if you're alright because the answer is pretty clear but I want you to try and help yourself here, please just accept this young woman's help, she's offering it to you for free and seems to be effective so far) the dragon softly urged his host quite worried for his mental state.

"For the last time i'm-" Sasaki started angrily but stopped and cleared his throat awkwardly when he realised he'd gotten so irate he'd burst aloud.

Asia walked over to Sasaki and knelt in front of him, her eyes filled with worry for the young man. She opened her mouth to speak but quickly closed it as though not knowing what to say.

"Please don't ask if i'm okay" Sasaki almost begged with an expression of mixed anger and sadness.

Asia only looked at him sympathetically.

"Do... do you hear voices in your head?" she asked carefully.

Sasaki couldn't help but chuckle darkly before it erupted into a fit of insane laughter than honestly scared the crap out of Asia and even Ddraig somewhat.

"Uh.. m-mr? Are you-" Asia tried to ask instinctually but was cut off before she could finish that damn phrase.

Are you okay, Haise?

"Rrrrrrrrgh!" Sasaki yelled in an unfamiliar rage, flashes of memories that were not his own flooded his mind and drove his body until he finally snapped back upon the sound of sobbing reaching his ears.

Asia was in front of him just as Yuuma had been but so much worse, she had deep cuts all over her body from what seemed to be multiple lacerations caused by something sharp all leaking an absurd amount of blood.

His eyes widened as he realised what he'd done, as he dove to try and help he saw something in the mirror behind her, four blood red tendrils trimmed in black were protruding from his lower back and his left eye's sclera and pupil were black as the night and crimson red respectively.

Sasaki was shocked to say the least but another look at Asia gave him a whole new level of it.

She was fine, not cuts or bruises, all the blood gone in the instant he'd turned away. Now simply kneeling with her hands clasped together in what seemed like some sort of prayer outlined in a soft emerald green glow.

Her next words broke him.

"I'm still with you" was all she said with a warm smile, that was all it took for Sasaki to collapse to his knees in front of her crying his eyes out.

"I'm so sorry, I- I don't know what's happening to me I can't control myself... i'm a monster!" he wailed as Asia simply pulled him into a hug enveloping him in her glow, it felt so soothing.

The moment he was pulled into her loving embrace the tendrils dissipated into nothing and his left eye returned to its natural colour, tears were streaming from both as he clutched the young woman in front of him that had accepted what he was becoming.

The two stayed embracing on their knees for a while before Sasaki was able to stop crying, they both slowly rose to their feet, the height difference now even more obvious given their similar height just moments ago. Sasaki stood at 5'7 whilst Asia stood almost a head shorter at 5'1 so when they both went in for another hug, Asia's head nuzzled gently into Sasaki's chest as his chin rested upon her golden blonde locks.

When they parted as was his nature, Sasaki apologised again.

"Asia i'm really sorry for hurting you" he guiltily repeated looking to the floor unable to keep eye contact.

Asia simply cupped his chin, gently bringing it up so they were looking each other in the eyes.

"I forgive you" were the words that hit him like a truck once more, how could she forgive a monster like him?

"I don't understand, why are you some accepting of me after I did that?" Sasaki questioned almost wanting her to show the fearful reaction he was used to, this kindness was strange and honestly quite unnerving to him.

Asia closed the distance he'd made between them and embraced him warmly before giving him her answer.

"Because I knew from the moment I met you that you were struggling, I know that better now, but you reaction clearly tells me you're a good person that's fighting whatever it is that you're suffering from. That is reason enough to stay by your side, at least while you stay here" Asia told him resolutely.

"B-but you don't know what i'm like or how long I can stay in control before it happens again, hell you don't even know my name" Sasaki babbled almost desperately.

Asia responded by gently raising her right index finger to his lips effectively silencing him.

"Then tell me" she responded simply with a smile.

Sasaki hesitated for only a moment before deciding that maybe Ddraig was right, god knows he needed help and if this young woman wanted to provide that then he'd be selfish not to accept after hurting her.

"It's Haise Sasaki" he spoke clearly giving his full name, she'd earned that at the very least.

Asia's smile widened.

"It's a beautiful name, Haise" she tried it out causing Sasaki to blush slightly.

"T-thanks" he replied flustered, Asia chuckled at his reaction.

"Now why don't you sit back down and i'll bring you something to eat" Asia suggested before adding "Haise" in a cute voice that sent the aforementioned teen's face a shade of scarlet Rias would be jealous of.

The evil teasing woman left the room and Sasaki sighed in relief with a chuckle.

'Looks like you were right Ddraig, I owe you my apology' he mentally conceded.

(I appreciate the sentiment but there's no need to apologise, I am your partner through thick and thin until death, until then I will do my best to keep you alive and as well as can be) the dragon responded determined.

This struck a chord in the teen's heart, he closed his eyes in thought for several moments before responding.

"I'm eternally grateful for your support, I swear on my life I WILL find out what lurks within me and then i'll reason with it" Sasaki told his partner seriously.

(What if it does not want to cooperate?) Ddraig questioned the boy almost hesitantly in anticipation of his possible response.

Sasaki fell silent for a moment as he glanced over at the beautiful young woman making food in the kitchen, she looked up and returned his gaze with a bright smile that melted the teen's heart.

"Then i'll kill him" Sasaki stated resolutely, unaware he was not the only one with that thought.

With that response Ddraig felt comfortable leaving his host in the care of Asia to sleep as the teen's episode earlier has drawn out a new power that drained his stamina immensely. The dragon had a bit of trouble recovering what was lost but it made him weak so he needed some time to recover.

Asia walked over with two plates just as Sasaki had said goodbye to his partner, she placed one in front of the teen and then sat next to him placing her own on her lap. The food consisted of a simple ham sandwich and some Swiss cheese but to Sasaki it looked heavenly prepared by Asia.

"Hey this is really tasty, how'd you get something so simple to taste so good Asia?" the teen asked curious but satisfied as the last few mouthfuls were greedily gulped down.

"Oh this? It's nothing special really, just a little secret ingredient" she tapped her nose cutely to indicate the secret part earning a small chuckle from the boy.

"Well allow me to thank it nonetheless" he responded gratuitously.

"It's okay, the lord requires no gratitude for he does these blessing from the kindness of his own heart" Asia spoke highly before slapping her hands over her mouth and shooting to her feet as she realised not only had she revealed the source of her secret but the existence of the supernatural to this boy.

Little did she know he was already well aware of the supernatural long before Ddraig had manifested himself to him.

"I mean... uh, it's just some Honey and i'm quite religious" she awkwardly tried to backtrack before Sasaki stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Asia do you really think i'm not aware of the supernatural after what you saw earlier" he said softly with a half smile in a reassuring but not patronising tone.

Asia pouted cutely at him.

"Well at least I tried to be nice about it baka" she joked as her fist fake punched his left shoulder softly earning a unexpected wince of pain from him.

"Oh dear i'm sorry was that too hard?!" she flustered as she helped him back onto the couch.

"Don't worry about it, old wound, you couldn't have known" he assured her before gently pulling up his sleeve to reveal a thick scar stretching up from his wrist.

"That goes all the way up to your shoulder?" Asia asked sadly.

"Unfortunately, better than being dead though" Sasaki stated bluntly shocking Asia slightly.

"Don't speak like that!" she cried.

"Like what?" he asked confused.

"Like it's not a big deal, like you being hurt doesn't matter, it does!" she lectured before raising her hands to the scar.

"Whoa, whoa what are you doing?" Sasaki asked apprehensively grabbing her wrists a little more forcefully than he'd intended to.

Asia winced slightly at the sudden grip but responded calmly.

"I'm going to try and heal this for you, or at least make it less sensitive, is that okay with you?" she explained asking politely for his permission but he could see in her eyes she'd do this with or without his consent.

The puppy dog eyes she sent his way essentially made the choice for him.

"Alright give it your best shot, but I have to say i've tried for over a year to make them fade and nothing has worked so far" he told her to try and ensure she wouldn't be too down if she failed.

"So far eh?" Asia gave him a playful smirk before a green glow like before poured from her hands and enveloped Sasaki's left wrist and forearm.

To his great surprise the scar indeed began to fade albeit only slightly, however he felt a world of difference now being able to move that part without any pain or twinge at all. His face broke out into a wide grin.

"It worked! You're a miracle!" he shouted chuckling after he realised the unintentional metaphor he'd referenced.

"I'm happy I could help, would you like me to do your upper arm and shoulder too?" she offered kindly.

"Yes please!" he immediately agreed, already imagining the possibility being able to fully move his left arm and sleep without torment ever again.

Asia smiled at his enthusiasm before placing her hands over his upper arm that was still covered by the sleeve. Unfortunately nothing happened as she attempted to heal it and Sasaki's grin began to fade into annoyance but acceptance that he'd been fortunate enough to be healed at all.

Not wanting to upset him after he'd been so happy before, she asked him to try rolling up his sleeve as far as possible to which it got up to just below his shoulder where the worst of the old injury lay.

Hovering her hands over the arm again, this time the green glow enveloped and healed Sasaki's upper arm just as his lower had been, the scar faded into almost nothing and the pain waned significantly.

"Huh... so it looks like your power only works in direct contact with the injury" Sasaki commented interestingly.

"It appears so... I haven't had to heal someone over their clothes before, the church always brought the people to me with their injuries open so I guess I never noticed" she agreed somewhat confused and a little upset that the church had hidden this from her when she was meant to be a healer.

"So you are a nun, I thought those clothes looked familiar" Sasaki confirmed.

"Ahh, I wasn't meant to tell you that" she whined cutely, dropping down to hug her knees.

"Amazing secret keeper aren't you" Sasaki chuckled.

Asia turned to the boy and gave him the saddest eyes he'd ever seen on someone that just destroyed his joking manner. He closed the small distanced between them and pulled her into a gentle hug.

"It's alright, I never heard a thing from you" Sasaki whispered into her ear, pulling away enough so she could see a sly wink from him causing her to laugh again.

"T-thank you Haise, I think we've gotten a bit side tracked though, let's get back to healing that shoulder" she reminded him with a smile.

Sasaki sat back down onto the couch and outstretched his left arm once more to her with a small smile in return.

Asia remembered the failure before however and realised they had a problem on their hands.

"Uhh, I don't mean to alarm you but I... I kind of... needyoutotakeyourshirtoff" she started carefully but accelerated her words to the point that Sasaki completely missed the end of her sentence.

"I'm sorry what was that last part again?" he asked innocently not realising he was extending the moment of embarrassment for the blonde.

Asia steeled herself and with as neutral expression and tone as she could manage, she repeated her last words.

"I need you to take your shirt off" she stated, immediately after the words left her lips, her newfound confidence crumbled and she turned away from Sasaki with her cheeks a deep scarlet colour.

Silence, then...

"Ehhhhhhh!?" Sasaki all but yelled.

Refusing to turn around a look him in the eyes, Asia spluttered her explanation with her back to him.

"I mean to heal you! I don't want to look at your body... well I mean I don't not want to but-" she stuttered out before she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder.

She turned around and was face to face with the teen much closer than she'd expected, he wore a gentle smile that contrasted his exposed and scarred torso.

Her face fell into shock as her eyes scanned his upper body and abdominal region finding them almost entirely covered by small scars that seemed uncomfortably deep. She then noticed the faded and scarred patches of skin where each finger and thumb joined his hand. However the worst injury was by far his left shoulder, it looked almost completely destroyed and mangled that it was a wonder he could even use his left arm.

"You... you've lived with all this for over a year?" Asia asked him shocked and sympathetic.

Sasaki simply nodded.

"Well why don't you sit back down and i'll see what I can do for you" she tried to smile but couldn't take her eyes off his scarred form.

Sasaki did as he was told and Asia raised her hands above his shoulder. The green glow enveloped his left shoulder and it looked like it was working until a terrible crunch was heard causing Sasaki to scream in pain.

"Oh god are you alright?!" Asia all but shouted with worry, her response was a painful grunt and a few deep breathes before speech.

"I-i'm alright, it's fine, it's okay... I need to use the bathroom, please excuse me" he got up quickly, taking his shirt with him.

Asia watched his from retreat into the bathroom, guilt washed over her and tears began to leave her eyes, she'd wanted to help him and ended up only causing him pain. The air in the apartment felt so stifling all of a sudden that she had to get out, Asia considered telling Sasaki where she was going but couldn't bring herself to speak to him right now so she left the apartment without a word.

Meanwhile in the bathroom Sasaki was rubbing his left shoulder almost frantically.

"Come on please don't say I was right" he all but begged aloud until eventually his face fell and he slumped against the wall down to the floor.

"Well this complicates things" he commented dryly as he cradled his left arm, his suspicions confirmed.

He could no longer feel it...

Back in Kuoh Town

It had been around 20 minutes since Sona had spoken to Rias about the troublesome behavior of Sasaki earlier that day. After their conversation concluded she'd sensed the presence of a certain white haired first year but passed it off as she was part of the club after all. Sona had made her way to the student council room alone which is where she currently sat at her desk in front of a computer digging through the student registry to find one two toned teen.

There were quite a few students to search through but luckily she knew his last name which narrowed the search down in a matter of moments. The file was rather empty now she had a good look at it, the only given information was his age, appearance and a single in case of emergency telephone number.

'How did he get away with providing so little information' she wondered, usually there would be much more in a student's file.

'I wonder how I let this slip through the cracks' she thought, she was involved in the process of every student's admission to the academy as student council president it was one of her many responsibilities and to think she might be slipping enough to let even one student escape her watch was troublesome to her.

Shaking off the thought and filing it away for later, she picked up the handset of the landline telephone sitting upon her desk and dialed the number inside the file.

There were four rings before a click indicated the call had connected.

"Yes, is it important? I'm currently in the middle of something" an impatient voice answered, it sounded masculine.

"Am I speaking to the guardian of Mr Sasaki?" Sona inquired.

There appeared to be a distinct increase in focus once she'd mentioned the teen's name.

"Yes that would be me, what's wrong has something happened to him?" the voice asked steadily but Sona could detect the hints of worry in his tone.

"Well it's difficult to explain as well as a sensitive topic" Sona replied strictly.

"Hold on a second, is this the heir of Sitri?" the voice asked rather bluntly with a hint of humor.

Sona was quite shocked at the supposed guardian of Sasaki knowing not only her species but rank within it but she hid it masterfully as she asked her next question.

"Who is this?" the line went silent for a minute as the recipient on the other end appeared to be considering his next words.

"Azazel, now what has happened to Sasaki" the governor of the fallen angels demanded.

Sona was now slightly out of her depth having never had to deal with something that could carry this much political fallout before, merely saying the wrong thing to Azazel may be seen as an act of war.

"As I said before governor, Mr Sasaki's situation is a sensitive topic that I would rather not discuss over the phone where people may listen in" the words had only just left her mouth when she heard a click to indicate the governor had just hung up.

'How rude' was her first and only coherent thought before a purple light blinded her. Once it had died down she was staring at the form of the very same governor who'd she just been conversing with.

A purple ball of magic appeared in the fallen angel's hand and Sona flinched slightly as it expanded from him, past her and outside the walls of the office. She quickly understood it was merely a barrier meant to keep people from entering or listening in.

"So Sitri... what has happened to my son?" were the steel words that froze her blood like her sister's magic never could...

And so ends the next chapter of the DCBSL rewrite.

This one is a bit larger than my usual size because i'd gotten to that and then realised I hadn't even finished with Sasaki and Asia let alone the interaction between Sona and Azazel I wanted to set up.

I'm also going to try and increase my usual length to around 3000 words just to give you guys a little more meat to my updates when they inevitably become a little scarce from writer's block or lack of time.

Anyway since I have nothing else particular to say i'll thank you all for reading, reviewing and commenting on my updates so far and i'll see you in the next update :)
