Historia

Historia was alone, laying on her bed. They would meet again tomorrow. He had told her what he had planned to do... bring ruin to the outside world. Such an act was beyond comprehension. So many innocent lives will be lost if she didn't report this in and have Eren Yeager arrested. This was the perfect chance. It would be so easy to just tell the military everything and end this madness, but she couldn't. She couldn't do it to him. She can't abandon him... not after everything they've been through. She couldn't lose another person that's taken a large space in her heart...

"You made it." Historia said with a soft smile as Eren walks into her room, closing the door behind him.

"Yeah. The guards are way too respectful, it kinda awkward when they bow to me." He said as he approached her. He stopped 2 feet in front of her.

"It's the same for me. Being treated like well... a queen is still new to me. I never expected to be pampered in my life, ever." She said as she tugged his sleeves and led him to a couch nearby. They then sat down and looked at each other, with Eren on her left. A moment of silence passed as they stared into each other's eyes, light blue meeting bright green. It took a moment before she snapped out of it. She cleared her throat to break the silence and snap Eren out of his little trance.

"Alright well they say we have an hour before they come back to report on our progress. Let's start." She held her left hand out for him. He takes it without hesitation and she could feel a bit of warmth spreading through her. Was it from his Titan powers? She felt warm inside, safe and relaxed.

"Anything?" He asked.

"No, how about you?"

"Nothing either."

"I guess we have a free hour to burn." She said.

"Yeah." He agreed. Another moment of silence passed between them, it wasn't awkward, but rather calm.

"So Eren, how you've been?" She started. Eren kept looking at the painting of her in her room. One of the palace painters wanted to paint her the day after her coronation and she felt restless after sitting still for over an hour that day.

"Not much has happened lately. I've been practicing with my Titan form. Hange's been pushing me hard and we're still working on her Titan execution weapon." He answered.

"Is it tiring for you?" She asked in slight concern.

"Yeah... but I can push through it. I have to." Historia squeezed his hand lightly in support.

"That's good." She said with smile as they both continued to stare at the painting of her.

"How about you Historia?"

"I've been trying to use the royal family's budget and the assets from the aristocrats, with the help from the military of course. I wanted to help provide a place for the poor and orphans to live comfortably in. I've been looking everywhere to find as many as I could, from the underground to every corner of the walls. I don't want them to live the life I've lived, abandoned by their parents or feeling alone. It's one of the reasons why I chose to become queen because like I told you in the cave... whenever someone feels like they're unwanted, saying no one needs them, I want to tell them it's not true. Whether they're orphans or elders, I'll be there for them. Like I saved you, I'll save them." Historia knew what it was like to be abandoned, to be unloved. She never wanted someone to live the life she lived. Helping those in need made her feel free. Unlike Christa, who would do it for affection, she'll do it because she wanted to.

She waited for a moment for Eren to respond, but there was only silence. She wondered why he was so silent. When she turned her head to look at him, she sees Eren staring at her intensely. He had a look on face that she couldn't quite distinguish. Was it awe? Respect? Amazement? Whatever the case, his gaze made her feel embarrassed. They kept staring at each other, none dared avert their gaze.

"Historia... I can't put into words how amazing that is." He started. Historia blushed lightly. Compliments from Eren meant a lot to her but she couldn't take all the credit.

"Don't give me all the credit. Captain Levi helped as well. You too." She said. Eren raised his eyebrows in confusion.

"Me? How?" He asked in slight shock.

"When you asked me what I wanted to do..."

"You said you didn't know." He finished.

"Yeah, but I know now. When you told me that you liked me for who I was and not who Christa was, you helped me find my calling. I felt empty and thought that no one needed me, that no one wanted Historia, an empty shell, especially after Ymir left. But you showed me otherwise. That's why I want to do the same to others like you did for me. So in a way... you saved us all Eren." She said with a soft smile. She noticed Eren's lips quivering. What was happening? She tilted her head in confusion.

"Are you okay Eren?" She asked. Eren took a deep breath.

"Yeah I am. Thank you Historia." He said with a small smile. It made her heart flutter with delight to see him happy. After everything that's happened lately, they all needed a bit of happiness in their lives.

"For what? I should be thanking you." She smiled back gratefullly.

"You saved me, when you didn't have to. You killed your father when you could've let me go."

"You mean a lot to me Eren. After Ymir, you're the only one I have left." She squeezed his hands in assurance. Eren looked at her with amazement. She looked at him straight in the eyes.

"Whatever happens next in the future, I won't abandon you." She continued with conviction.

Tears began to run down Historia's face as she remembered what she told him. She couldn't abandon her words. Eren needed her again. One last time...

"Even if the world is against you. Even if you're an enemy of humanity. I'll always be your ally." The thought echoed in her head.

Her choice was made.
