Important note ; Okay, I was originally planning on going through all of season 1 of ARROW, but I've decided to skip the unimportant episodes that mostly focus on Oliver, so a few will be missing so we can get us close to Peter getting bit by the spider. Beginning with this chapter that jumps ahead to Oliver getting arrested.
Guest - The reason she talked about the whole 'dead brother' thing was because of the job, not the situation. His job is to keep Peter safe from dangerous people like he was for Oliver.
Diggle decided to join Oliver, seeing that he's doing what he believes is right. Except he still makes his highest priority to keep Peter safe like he was hired to do. Except everything was cut short when Quentin came in and arrested him.
"This is a mistake." Oliver tells Lance in the interrogation room.
"I'll be asking you a few questions standard stuff for the report." Quentin says, ignoring Oliver's statement. "Have you been arrested before? That's okay, I know the answer to that one plenty of times."
"Like I said, this is a mistake."
"As far as I can tell, the only mistake I made was not shooting you down at the docks when I had a chance."
"I am not who you think I am."
"Oh, you're exactly who I think you are. You're a dangerous menace who doesn't care about who he hurts, except now you're doing it with bows and arrows instead of funds and yachts." Quentin states, his anger in every word.
"Detective, you hate me. I get it. But that doesn't make me a vigilante." Oliver continues to plead innocence.
"No, the security camera footage of you from the Unidac auction with a green hood does that pretty well."
"And as I said again, I ran into the stairwell once I heard the shooting, I saw the duffel that I thought belonged to the shooter. I grabbed it, looked inside and saw...a hood." Oliver repeats his story.
"And what you took it home with you? 'Cause we can't find it. And what about harassing Adam Hunt? That just happened to take place right across the street from your little homecoming bash."
"No, when they pile up like that it becomes evidence." Quentin informs him when an officer opens the door.
"His parents are here."
"Tell 'em to wait." Quentin says as Moria and Walter make it past the officer.
"I want to see my son." Moria demands.
"I'm in the middle of an interrogation here!" Quentin explodes.
"Detective Lance, I know you hate my family but I had no idea that you'd go so far to arrest my son without any grounds whatsoever!" Moria replies as Quinten stands up.
"I have solid grounds and I have evidence." Quentin tells her.
"Which you can present to Mr. Queen's attorney when he gets here. Until then, this interrogation is over, detective." Walter says as Quinten gives them fifteen minutes. "Detective Lance appears to be on some personal vendetta."
"He is." Oliver confirmed. "He blames for the death of his daughter. He also thinks that I dress up in a green hood and shoot people with arrows."
"The important thing to do is not say anything until your attorney gets here." Walter tells him.
"Fine. I want Laurel." Oliver tells them. "She knows me better than anyone. She knows that I could never be this guy. Walter, you say Lance has a vendetta? I think Laurel can get him off of it. He raised her to do the right thing. That includes representing an innocent man. So, mom, please?"
Laurel was able to help and instead of getting him imprisoned, she got him under house arrest. Not only that, but Oliver is planning some party for himself to show he isn't afraid of prison.
Peter was sitting outside, his brother wasn't afraid of prison, but Peter is afraid. He just got his brother back, and he is barely home half the time.
"Hey, Petey." Oliver called out to his brother as he turned and sees Oliver standing in the doorway. "One of the workers left a keg too far from the bar. Can yoy ask them to move it, please? I got the ankle thingie. I don't wanna set off a SWAT team."
Peter looks unamused at his oldest sibling and sighs before curling up, causing Oliver to walk over and sits beside him.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay." Oliver promised as he gave Peter a hug. "All this stuff is gonna be fine, I promise."
"You promised that you and dad would be back in a few days, and look how that turned out." Peter quipped as he scurried out of his brothers hold.
"This is different than that. Come on, Petey, you know me. I could never do all this stuff they're accusing." Oliver tells him.
"But do I?" Peter asks Oliver, shocking him at the question. "You were gone for five years, come home and you're never around. The last time I had a real conversation with you was when I was eight. You have scars on your back I have stopped myself from asking you about, you're never really around...sometimes I'd think that you being home was all a dream."
Oliver places a comforting hand on his knee to comfort him. "None of this makes me some Robin Hood wannabe."
"Then where do you go?" Peter asks him, wondering this for weeks. "I don't see you anymore and I don't get why."
Now Oliver sees he's been focused on their father's legacy and protecting the city his brother lives in, he forgot Peter needs him.
"I was alone on that island for five years, Peter. Sometimes, I need to get away from the noise and yelling, find somewhere to just be quiet." Oliver explains to him, it being partly true.
Peter sighs and understands what he's saying. "I get it. And I knew that you couldn't be this Hood guy. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to tell if it was my brother who saved me that day." He says jokingly as Oliver chuckles.
"Yeah, I'd think that, too." That was a concern he had when he rescued Peter was that he'd recognize him, but it seems he's safe.
"It's just...I don't want to loose you again." Peter says with tears in his eyes this time and Oliver pulls him into a hug that Peter accepts this time.
"I promise you, Peter, that's never going to happen."
That night, Oliver has his party and keeps himself where he can be seen and sent Diggle go out so that he can show he's not the Hood and clear his name.
Whilst that was going on, Peter had Ned and MJ over.
"Your brother is taking the threat of prison surprisingly well." MJ comments.
"Well, in his defense, this isn't his first time." Peter admitted as he can easily count five times at the top of his head.
"He sure knows how to throw a party." Ned also comments as there's enough lights and noise to confuse it for a runway.
"Think it might be true what they say?" MJ asks.
"No, my brother isn't capable of all of this." Peter replies, believing his brother is innocent.
Later, Oliver meets MJ and Ned as he gets a phone call from Diggle saying he took care of the arms dealing as the Hood.
Next, there's a knock at the door none of them were expecting anyone to come up.
"Mr. Queen, if you're entertaining guests upstairs should I have some drinks sent up?" One of the people Oliver hired for the party asks as Oliver heads towards the door.
"No, I'm just meeting my brother's friends. I'm on my way down now." Oliver says and just as he opens the door, the man pulls out a gun, causing Oliver to react and try to pull it out of his hands.
"Pete, get out of here!" Oliver shouts to Peter and his friends who try to make it to the door as the two of them fight over the gun.
Whilst they were making their way out, MJ caught Oliver as he used his legs to flip the intruder over onto the table just before following her friends out. Just as the intruder got back up, Quentin came in and shot him in the back.
Oliver's name was cleared, thanks to others spotting Diggle disguised as the vigilante, this being the third attempt on either his family or himself Peter has decided to start taking self defense classes so that he doesn't get stuck unprepared again.
And Peter's school has in fact got them a trip to Oscorp's laboratories.
