Hermione heard the sound of the floo activating between Andromeda's delirious laughter and Teddy's talking. She made out Teddy's excited squeal as she left the kitchen to see her blonde colleague get smothered by a bone-breaking hug by the young child.
"Draco! Draco! Have you met James yet?" Teddy's hair turned a mixture of bubblegum pink and baby blue as he pulled Draco to the crib.
"James? Potter's child?"
"Hmm-mm, Jamie! Meet Draco. He gives me books and puzzles and takes me on rides on broomsticks. We go really high and then whoosh—" Teddy made a movement of plunging his hand downwards in the air, "It's really fun."
"Ted, I think he's sleeping," Draco said, peeking into the crib, "He has his father's hair."
"And his mother's eyes," Hermione said.
Draco turned around, eyes wide at seeing her before a smirk formed on his lips, "Babysitting?"
"Well, I'm the godmother." Hermione replied chuckling, "Now what was it about Teddy being too clumsy to ride a broomstick?"
Draco clucked his tongue, "Adult supervision. I'm with him," he paused smirk widening, "Besides there are no cats."
Hermione rolled her eyes, "Leave the books alone Draco."
Andromeda walked into the living room, a tear running down her cheek and a huge grin plastered on her face as she hugged her nephew.
"Skeeter was in a jar for a year."
Draco raised his eyebrow, "What?"
"Hermione," Teddy said, "She put Skeeter in a jar. Skeeter's a beetle. Is she like me?"
Draco looked at his cousin and ran his hand through the younger kid's hair, "No, you're much cooler."
Teddy beamed at the adults, his hair completely turning bubblegum pink and he swivelled on his feet to look at the baby. Within a few seconds, he forgot about others in the room and went back to talking to the baby.
"Tea?" Andromeda asked. She looked at her grandson, "Do you want some fruits?"
Teddy cheered happily and after telling James he will be back soon, followed the adults to the kitchen.
"Is it the incident after the tournament?" Draco asked as they settled down. Hermione simply nodded in response, "The same one. That's how I got her to write The Quibbler article also."
"That was your plan?" Andromeda asked, "Merlin, Hermione, that's fabulous."
"She's done much worse," Draco added, "She gave pimples spelt 'sneak' to a girl."
Hermione shrugged, "I jinxed the parchment that DA members signed in case they snitched."
Andromeda burst out into laughter, "Maybe we should do that to Skeeter." She looked at Hermione, eyes gleaming, "You're absolutely devilish."
"Devilish?" Teddy asked, tilting his head to the side.
"It means Hermione's a devil," Draco replied, his voice flat but eyes glinting. He burst out into laughter when Hermione pinched his torso.
Babysitting James while hanging out with the Tonks and Draco was more fun than Hermione expected. After a simple dinner, all of them settled in the living room, watching the different things Teddy could transform into. James gurgled happily in Andromeda's arms as the older witch muttered sweet words into the baby's ears.
"I think it's time for bed, Teddy," Andromeda noted as the young boy started yawning.
Too tired to complain, he only nodded. He placed a small kiss on James's head, "Will you read me a story Gran?"
James started squirming and whining in her hands. The tips of Teddy's hair turned a slight brown but he patted the baby's arms nevertheless, "It's okay. Don't cry."
"I'll hold him," Hermione offered, "I haven't filled in the quota of holding him today."
With knowing thanks, the two went to the bedroom, Teddy's hair returning back to turquoise.
"Gran, I wanna read the book about the redhead girl today!"
"Then Anne it is."
When the sound of Teddy's footsteps quietened as he climbed the stairs, Draco turned to face Hermione, who was pacing back and forth with an impish smile on her lips. He raised his brow at her.
"You really gave him the book?"
Hermione merely glanced at him before she shrugged, "Both of us aren't bearing the burden—Ginny is. She won't mind the questioning."
"I'm willing to bet 10 galleons that she'll have your head after a week."
She looked at him, "You're going to lose 10 galleons Draco."
"You're going to lose your head before that."
Hermione felt the familiar pull of muscles of laughter but she forced it down her stomach, not wanting to disturb James. She looked over her shoulder to see a blur of baby hands fisting her hair, "Is James eating my hair right now?"
"He sure is"
"Take my hair out of his mouth."
"He looks like he's enjoying it—" Draco got up from his couch and tried to pry her hair away from his hands, "Did dinner get lost in your hair or something?"
Hermione tried to glare at the wizard behind her but only yelped out in pain when she felt a sharp tug on her scalp.
"Salazar, his grip's strong," Draco muttered behind her. She heard him sigh behind her, "Hermione, he's clutching on to your hair like a lifeline. Tickle him or something."
"Seriously, Draco?" She swore she could feel him roll his eyes. Sighing, she turned around, "Hold him."
"Excuse me, what?"
"Hold James," she repeated but when she saw the wide eyes, raised eyebrows and stiff shoulders, she let out a small sigh, "He's not going to bite."
He blinked before reluctantly taking the child in his hand with a strand of Hermione's hair in his fist. Draco shifted around, hands unsure and a small giggle escaped Hermione's mouth at the knitted pale brows and utter confusion etched on his face. She thought he looked like he was studying a potion cautiously so that it didn't explode in his face.
"Wait, you've to support his neck—and put your other hand here," another giggle escaped her mouth, "Merlin Draco, relax."
"It's easier for you to say," He watched the baby as he grumbled, brows still furrowed, "Shit, he's moving now. Why is he moving so much?"
"Language"
"It's a baby—"
"It matters. Of course, he moves, he's a living—"
"I didn't realise. I thought he was a toy for Teddy," Draco's answered dryly, glancing up at her, face perfectly stoic but quickly looked down with concern as James started whining. He growled, "Granger, stop laughing"
Hermione failed to stifle another chuckle leaving her mouth and bit on her lower lip as she worked to release her hair from the tight grip of her godson. A trail of drool followed along with Hermione's hair as she stepped back.
"Sit down, it'll be easier. I've to clean my hair."
She accio-ed her wand and scourgified her hair before tying it to a neat bun. Placing the wand aside, she turned to see Draco sitting on the couch, shoulders still tense but holding the baby closer. He was watching James attentively; his expression wary as before and a small smile broke out on Hermione's lips.
She sat down next to him and watched James stare back at the two adults before taking the infant in her own arms.
"I can't believe you don't know how to hold a baby," Hermione muttered.
"I'm an only child."
"I'm an only child too."
"But you've friends who have kids," he rebutted, looking at James, "I don't. I might've to wait a couple of years to see one."
"Doesn't Nott have a child?" she asked, turning. Hermione shifted in the couch, leaning back on the back pillow so that the two adults sat shoulder-to-shoulder.
"Pans and Theo? I don't talk to them anymore," he answered flatly.
Hermione nodded. She remembered the open sneer that Pansy made at her scar at a ministry party years ago.
"Their kid looks like Pansy," Hermione remarked.
Draco lips curled, "That's just pathetic," he muttered under his breath.
She raised her eyebrow, "I thought she was your ex-girlfriend."
He sneered, "Who gave you that idea?"
Hermione shrugged, "You took her to the Yule Ball. We thought that was the case."
He snorted but paused and a familiar smirk formed on his face, "Still remember who I went with for the Ball? You've quite an observation."
She rolled her eyes exasperatedly, "You both had quite a priceless expression." She gave him a haughty smirk, "You looked like a fish with the open mouth and everything."
He gave her a nonchalant shrug this time, his eyes wandering to the table, "You looked pretty."
Hermione looked at him and she realised that it was the first time he complimented her looks. James was snoozing quietly on her lap, his head on her knees and her arm holding him in place. She noticed light pink tinting his cheeks and was conscious of how her own cheeks were becoming red. In the quietness, she suddenly became aware of his hand resting on the couch; grazing her thigh, his touch now scorching.
Draco cleared his throat, "Also, you were with Krum." He looked at her, "How did you do that?"
"I didn't do anything. He asked me."
He raised one pale eyebrow, a mischievous smirk on his face, "No love potions?"
She scoffed angrily, "Yes, I had time to make a love potion instead of making sure my best friend wasn't dying in a tournament along with my studies."
Draco chuckled and dropped his gaze to James. He looked at the baby silently for a while before tentatively reaching out to softly poke his cheek with his finger. Draco repeated it again and traced the baby's nose.
"Soft" he murmured.
Hermione felt his breath on her ear and a small batch of goosebumps erupted on her scalp in response. His chest was flush against her shoulder, the warmth soothing on her back. Hermione squeezed her eyes shut, hoping to block out the sensations but all she felt was his breathe near her ear, his hand against her denim-clad thigh and the warmth radiating from his body.
She quickly opened her eyes and turned towards him, opening her mouth, "I'm going to put James..." the words died on her tongue when she met his grey eyes.
Grey eyes that were gazing at her and which made heat rush to her face. Hermione once again was reminded of the closeness between them.
She could pick out the faint hint of cologne with each breathes.
"You're going to what?" he asked, voice husky and barely a whisper. His view dropped to her lips and she involuntarily nibbled on her lips.
"I'm going to put him to bed," she croaked. He was still looking at her lips and she noticed how long his eyelashes were as she roamed her eyes over his face, studying his features, the smooth alabaster skin; once pointy nose that now looked elegantly straight; the pale eyebrows and the lips that seemed soft.
She wanted a taste.
Draco shifted away from her, and she instantly got up, face red, as she placed a sleeping James inside the crib. James's sleeping face momentarily made her forget about her wildly beating heart and butterflies bursting in her stomach. She stood near the crib, not moving and the shuffling of feet behind her almost made her gasp out loud but she waited as Draco got up and walked away. She exhaled softly, trying to calm her heart.
"Is James asleep?"
Hermione turned to find Andromeda walking down the stairways, wearing a baby blue night robe. She smiled at the younger witch and stood near her, watching the infant, "Adorable isn't he? I feel like I've another grandchild."
"Teddy adores him."
Andromeda chuckled softly, "Teddy adores anything cute. Clearly why he loves Victoire more than the boys."
Hermione giggled, "You're going to tease him about it aren't you?" she asked, imaging an older Teddy looking embarrassed in front of part-veela Weasley. Andromeda simply winked as an answer.
The older witch broke the silence, "If you're not busy, can you take Teddy to a muggle library?"
"Sure! But we might've to do something with his hair," Hermione beamed. She looked into the distance, thinking, "Maybe a hat or something. Has Harry ever taken him to the muggle world?"
"Yes. A couple of times to the parks but he's so busy now," Andromeda sighed.
"He fell asleep?"
The two witches turned to find Draco in the kitchen entrance, a cup of tea in his hand. Hermione felt the witch next to her glow slightly, although her expression was neutral. Draco, sensing the energy, only raised his eyebrow while Hermione waited for whatever idea Andromeda had to be verbalised.
"Hermione, would mind taking Teddy to the library with Draco?"
Hermione glimpsed a small smirk form on the older witch's lips for a split second before it turned to an innocent smile. She wondered whether Andromeda had better control of emotions than Draco and Snape combined. Her thoughts were interrupted by Draco's voice, "Hermione's perfectly capable of taking care of Teddy by herself. Do you need help?"
Hermione turned to Draco with a devil-may-care smile as she clarified, "Not any library Draco. A muggle library."
Realisation dawned on him after a slow two seconds, "Oh no. I was—no dragged—"
"Dragged through muggle world wearing wizarding robes during broad daylight," Hermione cut him, "That was one time. You've gone to the muggle world with Mr Besset multiple times afterwards." She waved her hand dismissively, "Besides I did promise to take you to a muggle library one day."
"You did?" Andromeda asked with a thrilled smile, "That you would take him to the muggle library?"
She nodded. Andromeda looked at her nephew and Hermione thought the older witch was telling him something with her eyes, something that she didn't understand but that might have been persuasion. She heard Draco sigh in defeat before mumbling in agreement. Andromeda beamed at them before changing the topic.
Harry and Ginny arrived 30 minutes before eleven, moaning and wailing about missing their child. After the initial shock of seeing Draco dwindled, the parents packed up the things, with Harry shrinking the crib while Ginny bounced a sleeping James in her arms.
"Thanks for looking after him. I hope he didn't cry too much," Harry said, hugging the two witches.
"Thanks again," Ginny repeated, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight, sweet dreams"
"Night guys"
"Goodnight mini-Potter"
The floo activated at that moment and the three Potters disappeared with a green flash of light. Hermione looked to Draco, hands of her hip and eyebrows raised, "Mini-Potter?"
Andromeda chuckled beside her, "He used to call Teddy 'mini-Lupin' when he first met him. He likes James."
"You're jumping to conclusions, Andromeda."
"So you say," Andromeda chuckled at Draco, "I thought you were going to adopt him by the end of the day."
Draco huffed at her. Hermione chuckled before hugging the older witch, ready to go back to her apartment. She waited patiently for the aunt and nephew to bid goodnight, smiling as Draco stooped down to hug his aunt.
It was on a sunny and cloudless Saturday morning that Hermione floo-ed to the Tonks' house. After figuring out the best way to get to the muggle library with a child without Apparating weeks ago, she was prepared to teach Teddy and Draco about muggle libraries and transportation. She knew the latter would be difficult but it didn't seem challenging enough.
Teddy was still eating breakfast when she walked out of the floo. His hair shifted to a mixture of colours with excitement as he enthusiastically shouted his greetings. Quickly licking his plate clean, he ran to the bedroom to get dressed. Andromeda greeted her with soft-spoken words and the usual hug.
"Draco didn't come with you?"
"No, he had some work to finish."
"I hope he isn't running away," Andromeda mock sighed, "I mean, he does read muggle literature."
"He does?" Hermione asked, eye wide. He never mentioned that in his letters.
Andromeda gave her a smirk, very similar to one Draco makes and Hermione wondered whether it was a Black thing rather than a Malfoy trade like she thought for years. The older witch raised her eyebrows and chuckled, waving her hand dismissively in the air before walking away. However, before Hermione could ask her any more questions, Draco walked out of the floo. With a dark green turtleneck and black trousers, he could pass as a muggle, albeit a somewhat formal looking muggle.
"Finally! You're here," Andromeda exclaimed hugging her nephew, "You're wearing more colours. Good."
"You're accusing me of tardiness and insulting my impeccable fashion sense," Draco grumbled.
Andromeda scoffed in boisterous hilarity, "Please, you always look like you're going to a funeral with all the black you wear."
Draco rolled his eyes at the comment while Hermione tried to stifle the laughter bubbling from her stomach. Teddy zoomed into the room with a flat cap in his fist, wearing a navy blue shirt with tiny, white anchors and mustard pants while his hair stayed a mixture of bright pink and blue. He beamed at the adults, hurdling questions at a rapid pace that only a small pat on his head by his grandmother calmed him. Somewhat calmed him.
After Teddy managed to calm down, turning his hair a similar shade of brown like Hermione's and putting the cap for safety measure, the three of them floo-ed to Diagon Alley. As they ventured into the muggle world, Hermione was acutely aware that she had superior knowledge about the workings than her male companion. She had to slow her steps and bite her tongue to not go into a frenzy from the revelation. Part of her wanted to explain everything to both of them but forced herself not to do that—not wanting to give Draco another 'Martin incident' and not to fluster Teddy.
It was utterly difficult when Draco was gaping at everything.
"Still surprised?" Hermione asked, glancing at her companion.
Draco nodded, "The muggle places I visited with Martin, other than Paris, were not this...modern." he answered.
Teddy was more than delighted to know everything, asking about traffic lights and aeroplanes. After a brisk 5 minute walk, the three stood in front of a public library. This was the closest one to Diagon Alley and not hard to miss with the large building, wooden door, the blue-tinted window and blue slanting roof. It was also the library that Hermione used often.
Explaining the workings of the library wasn't difficult since unlike the other ones she visited, it didn't use much technology. They spent an hour in the library, the three going through the children sections for almost half an hour before Teddy decided to sit down and read the books he collected. Hermione and Draco roamed the other sections, Hermione telling him about the different authors, books and genres as much as she could.
Draco picked up everything she told him, keeping up with her frantic explanations as they walked through different aisles.
She went on her tiptoe when she found a particular book on the top shelf, stretching her arm over her head to only graze it. She tried again but couldn't grab the book.
"Can't use magic," Draco mumbled, reaching from behind her to grab the book when she slid her wand to her hand.
Hermione turned on her feet to face him. She craned her neck to look at him, "I was going to be discreet," She replied haughtily but butterflies were starting to form in her stomach at the distance.
Draco only hummed in response, fleetingly curving the side of his lips before looking at the book. He ran his thumb over the title and read through the summary, "Redemption" he stated simply.
"It's about redemption," Hermione repeated, "It's a good novel. I don't think I've given this book to Andromeda."
He raised his eyebrow, "She told you?"
"Lightly mentioned"
He mused over the book, running this thumb repeatedly over the title. He looked at her, "I don't have a membership."
"You can use Teddy's," Hermione offered with a smile. He rolled his eye in response but a small chuckle escaped nevertheless.
She watched him as he read the first page of the book while she stood wedged between him and the bookshelf. She didn't know whether she even wanted to move. The realisation made her look at her shoes as she wrung her hands behind her back.
She noted the hint of cologne and once again was grabbed by the desire to touch him.
Hug him.
Melt into the warmth.
Clearing her throat, she looked at him again, and through her wildly beating heart, spoke up, "You want to take the book?"
He shrugged at her as he gazed at the books on the top shelf, "Why not? Andromeda speaks highly of your suggestions," he looked at her, smirking, "Don't let that get to your head."
"She already told me that." Hermione quipped and her eyes twinkled with mirth, "Do you want more suggestions?"
Draco stretched his neck to see whether Teddy was still there before extending one of his arms, chuckling, "Lead the way."
With a muffled squeal and a toothy grin, she swivelled on her feet to scan the books. She stepped back quickly to get a better view of the top shelf but instead collided into Draco, his hands immediately landing on her hips to steady her.
"The books aren't going to run away," Draco jabbed with a chuckle as he moved his foot from under her, "Neither am I."
She rolled her head back to glare at him, "Watch it"
"Or what?" he raised his eyebrow at her, his lips twisting to a smirk.
At the moment, Hermione realised that she was standing with her back pressed against him, his hands on her hips in an empty library aisle. Her face reddened in response and she snapped her vision to the bookshelf.
She didn't attempt to step away.
He didn't move his hands.
Only when she found a book at the top shelf did they step away from each other but the feel of his touch remained with her long after.
Teddy was the first to recommend spending more time in the muggle world after they headed out of the library. He gave Hermione one of his best impressions of puppy eyes, his hair turning yellow under his cap as he jutted his lower lip. He turned to give Draco the same expression, only causing the older wizard to sigh and look at Hermione.
She accepted the offer with laughter bubbling from her stomach.
She laughed louder when the three of them travelled on the bus.
Teddy followed Hermione with blind trust into the bus, steps giddy while Draco hesitated; eyeing the transport like it was a criminal disguised under Polyjuice Potion. Hermione rolled her eyes before dragging him by the wrist and the three settled on the front of the top deck, Draco clutching the seat with his dear life.
Draco grumbled when she told him that the seats were amazing. Teddy squealed with delight as they started moving.
"If something happens, I'm blaming you," he grunted, gripping the seat when the bus halted to a stop.
"You won't die! Teddy, isn't the ride amazing?"
"Yes!" he exclaimed, his hair briefly changing colour before it went back to brown, "I never travelled on something like this. We need more transports like this."
Draco stared at his cousin like he said the most atrocious thing, "Wizardkind don't need such contraption. I swear to Salazar and Merlin, we'll die."
Hermione rolled her eyes, "We won't. Besides the Knight bus is more mental than a double-decker."
Draco looked at her with confusion, scepticism and irritation while Teddy tilted his head to his side.
"Knight bus?" Teddy asked.
"You don't know about the Knight Bus?" Hermione replied, looking at Draco. She furrowed her eyebrow at the older wizard, "You haven't been on the Knight bus?"
"Are you making it up?"
Hermione glared at him, baffled, "Of course not! The Knight Bus is an emergency transportation. You just have to stick your wand out like we do for muggle bus. It's easy to spot also—for us that it. It's purple and has three decks," she paused to shudder, "You get thrown around in that thing. I've bumped my head at least twice on that."
"That doesn't sound fun," Teddy commented.
"It's not"
Draco looked between Teddy and Hermione, "I'll take muggle version then."
Hermione giggled, "Andromeda's going to have a heart attack when she hears this. Draco Malfoy choosing muggle transportation over wizarding ones."
Draco clucked his tongue and rolled his eyes, "I'm being logical."
Hermione laughed nevertheless.
Thirty minutes later, the three found themselves at a nearby zoo. Teddy was ecstatic and positively glowing at he stared and waved at the different animals and Hermione was relieved he didn't try to impersonate them unintentionally.
Wizarding world didn't have zoos. They had sanctuaries for dragons, nifflers and Hippogriffs but not zoos. It was evident on Hermione's companions' faces as they goggled at the giraffes and statues of gorillas. While Teddy waved and squealed with delight, Draco read the card next to the encasement, asking questions to Hermione with eagerness matching Teddy. Hermione finally caved to her frenzy and explained everything to both of them with flushing cheeks and rapid breaths.
Halfway through the venture, they settled down on a round white, plastic table with steel chairs, the most far away from the canteen after they brought snacks and juice. Hermione explained enthusiastically about muggle money as she rubbed her sore feet.
"Which animal did you like so far?" she asked Teddy as he chewed happily on the biscuits and sausage rolls.
Teddy pondered about it for a moment, the wisps of hair peeking out of his hat changing colour, "I like giraffes." He grinned at his answer.
Draco immediately covered the back of his cousin's neck with his hand, looking back quickly before he whispered, "Ted, your neck."
The younger boy instantly covered his neck, crumps of snacks sticking to his skin as he brought the skin on his neck which now looked like a giraffe—yellow with brown dots—to normal.
"What about you?" Teddy asked, sipping on his juice.
Hermione thought about it for a moment, "The otters looked cute but I really like the butterfly park."
Teddy agreed by changing his hair to pink. He turned to Draco, expectant. Draco only thought about it for a moment, "Komodo dragon," he met Hermione's eyes, a small smirk on his lips, "But I thought the lionesses were feisty."
Hermione glared at him in response. At the same time, Teddy giggled, "'Cause it has a dragon in its name?"
Draco shrugged as he nonchalantly brushed away the biscuit crumbs from Teddy's neck, "You'll never know."
"I hope I see ferrets"
The two turned to look at Hermione who was now sipping on her juice, looking at the mass of people beyond the brush that separated them from the canteen. Finishing her drink, she stood up and looked at the confused Teddy and the deadpan expression of Draco. A smile tugged on her lips, "See Ted, somebody here was turned in—"
"Granger"
Hermione noted that his left eye twitched as he gritted his words out, "Aren't we behind schedule?"
"We don't have a schedule."
"We didn't exactly tell Andromeda that we would go to the zoo." He countered his face completely poker but there was one more tick, "So we've got a schedule."
Hermione bit her lips to contain her laughter as she agreed with him. She thought of teasing him about wanting to keep appearances in front of his cousin but decided to tell the information to Andromeda first.
Teddy nodded in response, excitedly claiming that he would tell Andromeda everything he saw. He pulled the chair back, "I think I can show her everything! Imagine if I showed—" His hand bumped the table causing the red juice to tumble and spill, parts of it soaking Draco's sleeve.
Hermione and Teddy quickly grabbed the spare amount of tissues lying on the table to dab away the juice while Draco went to get more tissue. Teddy apologised with a simpered smile when Draco returned with his sleeves rolled up. Hermione's vision lingered on his forearm as she wiped the liquid on the table.
There was no mark.
"I'm sorry Draco," Teddy muttered, patting Draco's exposed left arm with a tissue.
Draco sighed, "This is the first one of the day." He took the tissue from the boy and drawled, "That's a plus point. Don't worry."
She caught his eye when they started moving away from the table and he raised his eyebrow when she looked at his arm again. Hermione bit the inside of her cheek to not ask about it as they finished exploring the zoo.
"It's disillusionment charm," Draco clarified softly as they stepped into less hectic parts of Diagon Alley after she accidentally let her gaze linger on his now covered arm.
Hermione looked at him, the question at the tip of her tongue. She blurted it out when Teddy took the books from their hands and started packing it into his bag, "I thought you couldn't hide it?"
He crouched down to help Teddy, "Not before he was defeated. The magic on it died after he was killed."
"Oh," Hermione mumbled in realisation.
She bit her lip. She wanted to ask more, questions like whether he tried hiding it before, whether it feels different or whether he planned on telling Teddy but bit her tongue once again.
The day was going perfectly and she didn't want the past to taint it.
Andromeda's eyes were positively gleaming with delight as the three returned from their trip. Teddy immediately told her about the visit to the zoo, finally morphing his face into different types of animals. His hair was shining bright pink and blue after rapidly showing his grandmother everything he witnessed.
"I wanna ask Harry to take me on an aeroplane!" Teddy exclaimed, "It's so different Gran. Hermione told me they sit inside a tube and they fly in the air. There's no magic." He turned to look at Hermione, "Will you take me on the aeroplane?"
"I mean, we could arrange for it but registrations going to take a while. The nearest plane ride we will probably be around 2 hours. We'll also have to consider extra baggage and extra cost..." she looked at the three people in front of her, "You didn't understand anything I said, did you?"
Teddy shook his head and Draco raised his eyebrow at her while Andromeda chuckled.
"I didn't think you'll take him to the zoo?" Andromeda looked at Draco who only gave an approving nod, "The zoo. I thought you three were in the library for almost 5 hours."
Hermione giggled, "We did spend a lot of time in the library but Teddy wanted to do some exploring."
"And it was so much fun!" he yelled, throwing his hands in the air. He immediately grabbed Hermione and Draco to a hug, "Thanks! I had so much fun."
Hermione stooped down to hug him while Draco patted his head before ruffling it.
"We had fun too"
Andromeda chuckled, "Draco, I hope you learned all the directions."
He looked up at her, "You were planning this from the beginning right?" he squinted his eyes, "You're expecting me to take him to the library in the future."
Andromeda simply smiled sweetly at the three, "Tea?"
Hermione watched as Draco mutter 'cunning witch' under his breath with a chuckle before following his aunt with Teddy tailing behind him. She giggled at the scene and followed the three to the kitchen, plopping down on the cushioned chair to drink tea and eat biscuits.
She dreamt of him again.
It wasn't bizarre or bawdy. He didn't waltz with Crookshanks or swim in a pool of liquorice wand with her nor did he kiss every skin of her body while his fingers played with her clit like a fine-tuned instrument.
This dream was warm.
They were back at the library. There was the lazy rotation of the fan and its methodical creaking, the distance sound of the librarian stamping something heavily on the desk and the soft sound of pages being turned. But everything was distant, far away from where she was standing. She somehow knew that it would take ages for somebody to reach her.
She was standing near the same shelf where she gave him the book. Between the empty aisles of bookshelves, the smell of ageing books and print filled the air along with his cologne.
Just a hint of his cologne.
The Hermione in her dreams knew about it because she turned around to smile at him widely, her hands automatically reaching to wrap around his neck to play with the hair at the nape of his neck and Draco's hands wrapped around her waist immediately, pulling her close to press his lips to her forehead. She could tell that he was smiling against her skin. It was sweet, loving, beautiful and warm.
It was warm.
Hermione woke up from the dream with her eyelids fluttering open and feeling warm. The warmth seemed to consume her, inside and outside, as she lay blinking on her bed. Only a cold gust of wind and Crookshanks purring made her sit up on her bed, silent. Her heart was still beating wildly in her heart.
She laid back on the bed, face flushing.
