Chapter 7

Odd encounters

I heard Tim in the kitchen. That wasn't unusual, but he was humming a soft melody. I frowned. Was this connected to last night? Was this a good or bad thing? I wasn't sure. I decided it was fine for now. Tim unloaded the dishwasher as I walked in.

"Hi, Tim." I said.

"I made waffles." He smiled at me.

"Alex and Clover should be up soon. I have Lit around 10 then Chem is at 3. I think they also have lunch off too. We'll come back here for lunch." I thought aloud.

"Ok, dear." He got me a clean plate.

I ate breakfast as Alex and Clover walked in. We ate and got ready for classes. Clover had to go to the computer lab for something. Alex had Animal Science. As Tim and I walked to the English building, an old couple stopped us. The man had white and gray hair, slicked back to a point, a square jaw and large nose. The woman was tall, skinny and her hair was short and gray.

"Ah, Tim! It's nice to see you. I must thank you again for your help." He said.

"Your welcome." Tim said.

"Yes, without you, we would have never found this place." The woman added.

"Um, excuse us. We have to go." I cut in.

"Oh, yes, of course. Good bye, Tim and…" The man looked at me.

"Sam." I said.

"Good bye, Sam." They left.

"Tim, what was that about?" I asked.

"I met them at the store. They mistook me- for someone." He finished.

We got the building and I went to class. Tim went back to the penthouse. I tried to pay attention, but the encounter stayed in my mind. That was totally weird. Why did they need to find Mali-U? Soon, class was over and I walked out. Tim was waiting for me with a Mexican hot chocolate. I sipped it. It was rich and creamy.

We walked back to the dorm. Lunch was almost done. It was baked trout and vegetable soup. I was sitting at the counter when there was a knock at the door. Clover got it. There was a man, he was balding and had a mustache.

"Who are you?" Clover asked.

"My name is Jerry, if you'd let speak with that andr-"

"First that creep-o couple and now you?! No way!" I shouted.

"Couple, what couple?" Jerry asked.

"An old man, large nose, gray slicked hair-" I started to describe.

"Terrence and Helga." Tim answered.

"Oh, dear, it's worse than I thought." Jerry frowned.
