Hello! A few days late update, this chapter just...was seriously struggling. This is a bit of a filler, but it does have some important stuff in it! Even if it doesn't seem important right now. ;)

As for reviews...

TU4QU0I53T4IAN6L3: Leo...has a lot of his character that is not initially present, it's something that I plan on revealing throughout this story. It has to do with his criminal past. As for the other staff? A considerable amount of them were in the kitchen at the time, and the ones who did came out well. The Anderson's have a very heavy hand in the economy of the town. Not that it is of course an excuse, but they were also affected by the bystander syndrome. And yes, walking away would have been the logical right thing to do, but Anderson wouldn't have let him go...and while usually Leo is a bit skittish and what could be described as cowardly, he does have his...moments.

Victor John Foxfire: The time period is a bit iffy, but I have it placed in the early nineties, so it was before smartphones. (And also why they play so many card games...) And yes, in a normal situation it would have negative affects on the Smiths. But the rumors already surrounding the pizzeria, along with the fact that the Smiths are responsible for a lot of the jobs in the relatively middle class, breaching on impoverished town. So, he holds a lot of influence, even if they wanted to help, he has killer lawyers and doesn't particularly care about what the public thinks about him.

SilentAmbiance: Both of them will certainly try! But...yes, Leo's drug addiction does cause there to be quite the hole in his pocket. Also you aren't alone! Leo is certainly freaking out right now. Also...um, bedtimes don't exactly exist to me...? Midnight is kinda...the middle portion of my nights?

Thank you so much for reviewing! All of the support is amazing! Thank you so much to everyone and I appreciate all of you!

I own nothing but my characters.

Chapter Sixteen
Another Night...

"What is this? Why is he like this? Why the ^#%$ do you bring him?!" Leo demanded motioning to Acid, who was on stage fake singing into a fork. He had a party had on, and ketchup on his face.

"If you just let him do what he wants he'll calm down eventually." Joey reasoned as she was nearly forearm deep within Foxy's chest. The red animatronic gaze down at her curiously as she worked.

"Well why do you bring him in the first place if you know he is like this?" The guard demanded, motioning again to the strange man on stage, who was being watched by the other three animatronics.

"Because he is my friend. Now if you are finished with interrogating me, I need to see if I can straighten Foxy's spine enough for him not to wobble when he walks." She said, an edge in her voice. Leo sighed and hobbled over to the table where Freddy and Chica stood. As usual, Bonnie was a bit off to the side.

"I worry for the sanity of that human..." Freddy trailed causing the guard to look at him.

"Really? Cause I've seen you rock out on the stage before." At that the bear turned to him and narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"What are you talking about? I have never done such a thing." The brown animatronic countered and Leo smirked a bit.

"You did when...Gabriel…was in charge…" His hesitancy over the name didn't go unnoticed.

Leo had found papers from back in the day, mentioning all the children that had gone missing all those years ago.

Along with the list of names.

Susie was obviously Chica, but with the rest it was really just a guessing game.

If he were being honest it was really his own opinion on who was who.

Fritz...Foxy...

Jeremy...Bonnie

And Gabriel just sounded like it belonged to the bear.

He was likely wrong, but the two he did feel most confident on, was Fritz and Susie.

Fritz just seemed like it would be Foxy.

...and yes, part of it is because of the fact that they start with the same letter.

Freddy looked at him, eyes widening. "How did you know what his name is?" The bear asked and all Leo could do was shrug.

"Um...lucky guess?"

"That was a wee bit more of a lucky guess lad." The fox interjected and Leo glanced back at him before taking a breath.

"I don't know. Gabriel sounded like a more formal name and out of all four of you, Freddy was the most formal." He explained, "I found a paper dating a few years back talking about it." He paused a moment before shifting in his seat as his mind settled back upon the papers he had read. "Its alarming that the guy got away with no punishment whatsoever." The guard shook his head with a breath. "What the ^%$$ is up with the legal system here?" The bots, obviously couldn't answer, so he just continued. "I've had my run ins with legal systems, and I have never seen a more messed up system then here."

"This town is complicated, income wise, it is a very sharp contrast between the poorer people and the richer people of the town." Joey explained, speaking up to break the brief interval of silence. The guard turned to look at her, she hadn't turned away from working on the animatronic. "Apparently the guy knew some influential people. Those people had friends in the legal system. I was a teenager and didn't particularly care when the case went through. But I remember that it was the talk of the town." She took a breath and finally turned to look at the guard, "given enough influence. Anyone can cheat the system."

"...anyone?" Leo slowly asked, and the woman stared at him before nodding.

"Especially rich people." Then she turned back to the red animatronic as Leo took a look at all of them.

#$%$#...

What if this stupid system resulted in them getting sold off? They had peace now...but how long would that last? Would the children realize what was happening first?

…did children even have a concept of the legal system?

He took a breath and shook his head, that wasn't important.

"The Anderson's are rich." Bonnie said cutting in, Leo stiffened and glanced over. The rabbit's ears were drooped and he looked a bit depressed. The guard let out a breath.

"What do you mean Bonnie?" Chica asked, tilting her head. Leo stiffened more, only to wince as his pain spiked.

"Um...who wants to play uno?" He offered suddenly with a smile he hoped wasn't as weak as he felt at the moment.

After he had received a few suspicious looks, they played several rounds of uno. Even though it was a very simple game, Leo kept tripping up. He found himself incredibly distracted throughout the whole game. The night guard wished he could pay attention, but honestly his thoughts were completely preoccupied.

No matter how he spun it, there was no way he would be able to fix this problem.

There was no way he would be able to buy the animatronics.

At the very least he wouldn't have to worry about the new animatronics and the inevitable drama that would bring.

Those would probably be sold as well.

The only thing he could think of wouldn't really be the best option...but it was an option.

They would get sold to who knows who, and he would save up money and spend the rest of his life tracking them down?

He would probably end up with several angry animatronics and dead children.

...so that wasn't really a good option at all.

But it was likely that it would become his only option.

The game ended with Bonnie winning this time, but that was only because Foxy was still getting repairs done. The mechanic and her strange friend stayed much later tonight then they usually did. But Leo didn't really care, so long as they didn't cause problems they could do whatever they wanted.

Well, until they started hearing banging sounds coming from the halls next to the restroom.

All of their attention turned to the direction of the noise.

"Um...what is that?" Chica asked, and Leo sighed looking at all of them.

"Well the only way to find out is to go over there." He informed, and everyone looked at each other...but more pointedly at him. The guard blinked sitting up more. "What? You guys are like seven foot metal robots! Why do I have to check out the strange noises?"

"Well...you are the guard, isn't that your job…?" Bonnie asked, lifting both ears, and said guard opened his mouth and then closed it with a frown.

"Of course, make the cripple man do it." he grumbled and got to his feet, and hobbled to the hallway. "What happened to caring about if I walked on my leg?" He asked mostly to himself as he went to the hallway. Only to pause gazing at the sight of Acid driving a screwdriver into the drywall. "What the &^^$^ are you doing?!" The guard demanded making the colorful haired man freeze and look up at him, the screwdriver still partially in the wall.

"Oh! It's Hobble Boy!" He said brightly but Leo just stared at him.

"Don't hobble boy me lunatic! What are you doing!?" He demanded...hobbling over to him. The thin man stood up and raised his hands.

"Whoa, whoa, calm down, calm down. I was just checking to see if you guys had spiders! It's very common for them to be in these kinds of establishments. I saw one crawl into a hole in the drywall." He explained, but Leo could only stare at him.

"So you decided to stab the wall with a screwdriver? Wouldn't that just create more holes?!"

"Well yes, but if I killed the spider then it wouldn't scare a child!" The man continued to explain as if this was the logical solution that he had come to.

Leo was having trouble grasping it.

"Acid, we have talked about stabbing walls." The voice of the mechanic made them both turn to her. She had her arms crossed and was gazing at Acid with her eyebrow raised.

Leo turned back to the useless assistant, he rubbed the back of his neck.

"But I saw a spider!" He protested as if that was justification.

"We've talked about the spiders as well. C'mon I just finished with Foxy. We best get going." she informed, and he nodded coming over, Leo hobbled around to face them.

"Hey! What about this hole in the wall?!" he demanded waving toward it. Joey turned to him.

"Tomorrow I'll bring someone to repair it." And with that, they left.

Leo took a breath and toward the multiple holes in the wall.

Great, now there was another reason to fire him.

He couldn't help but scrunch up his nose at the smell that assaulted him. It was always so much worse in this hall, and honestly he could never be entirely sure why.

The guard hesitated a moment in the hall before shaking his head and hobbling back to the main room. Foxy was now involved in the game, and Leo watched the tail end of the mechanic and her assistant leaving with a scowl on his face. He couldn't wait till Foxy was fixed up so they would not have to come anymore.

"What was that about?" Freddy asked, and Leo turned to look at him.

"I don't know, the maniac was stabbing the wall because he saw a spider." The guard grumbled and sat down with a breath, only to wince as the usual ache spiked up painfully. "&$^%..." he growled, and Chica came over automatically.

"Are you alright?" She asked both hands out ready to assist him with whatever he needed. With a wince, the guard adjusted in place and nodded.

"Yeah, just...sore, sure hope Jack shows up soon." He grumbled, she hesitated a moment before nodding and stepping away. Leo took a breath and stared down at the table. He was not looking forward to talking with his manager tomorrow.

"Geez, this is a kids restaurant Leo, put the cigarette out."

The order made Leo jump and turn his attention to John as the man entered the room. After resolving that he wasn't in danger he took a breath before putting it out in the ashtray. John stepped into the room and looked around like it was the first time he was in there.

...and then he proceeded to close both doors.

Leo instinctively used his crutch to get to his feet feeling like the man was about to hit him or something. John turned back to him and his brow furrowed.

"You look like I'm about to mug you." He stated and Leo let his shoulders drop before rubbing the back of his neck.

"I uh...force of habit."

"...alright." John said with a raise of an eyebrow before turning him fully and clasping his hands before him. "Okay, look, I heard about what happened yesterday." At that Leo paused gazing at him carefully.

"Before you continue, I need to know if I still have a job." The grip on his crutch tightened as he gazed at his boss.

"Oh yes! Yes...well...for as long as this place remains open...ya know, due to us being sued..." He trailed with a breath and Leo followed suit looking to the side.

"Yeah..." He nudged his bad foot against the ground and...instantaneously regretted it.

"Look, I should fire you, honestly it would likely avoid this lawsuit...but you are the second longest guard to have stayed here. And...weirdly enough, the animatronics..." he held up his hands as Leo looked over, "according to Cindy, though she is notorious for false rumors. She told me that they came to your...defense. If that's true, then I'd rather not see what they would do if you were gone." The man admitted letting his hands drop, Leo looked at him with a frown.

"That's an awful lot of assumptions. You don't even know if that's true, and it's from Cindy." Leo jabbed, though he wasn't entirely sure why he was questioning the logic that was currently keeping him employed.

Sometimes he wondered if he just straight up hated himself or something.

"...Cindy isn't very reliable, but with a...track record as long as Fazbear's is...sometimes you do have to wonder just how sentient those robots are." John admitted with a breath glancing about the room. A brief moment of silence fell on them, before the manager turned back to his employee. "However...your reported behavior was...concerning." He said, his eyes flickering over Leo like the guard was about to break out into a rage.

The injured man rolled his eyes slightly, it's not like he could do much in this state.

"You can't go around threatening customers. I understand that the situation got...hostile. But if you had just kept your composure then we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place." The man criticized, and Leo couldn't help but tense a bit purposefully looking at the dirtied bandages that covered his foot.

If he were being completely honest…

He would probably do it again.

The only reason he called it off was because of the fact that the man was rich, and suing was an intense possibility. Though now he regretted not allowing the bots to follow through, the man was suing anyway.

The guard didn't want to admit it, but the interesting but quite frankly, strange occupation had grown on him.

Grown on him like a fungus? Perhaps. But grown on him all the same.

His life before this was a big blur. A blur of drugs, cold nights, and street fights. Leo's most prominent memory was when he was in jail, though that was probably due to the fact that he hadn't been allowed any drugs at all.

Not that he didn't find ways to get them secretly, plus the wardens had been required to give him small portions in order to keep him alive.

But it was nowhere near his usual quantity.

The guard wasn't sure if he was disappointed in himself or not for slipping right back into old habits. He had never been more miserable than when he had been in prison, and it wasn't just because of the fact that he was in...well, prison.

The memories that had entered into his mind during that time had faded all over again, and he found himself here. Without any attachments besides the mechanical animals.

His life was a real confusing mess.

"...Leo!" The sudden shout from his boss made him jump and turn his attention back to him.

"Sorry...I zoned out." The guard muttered lamely.

"Look. This is a super round about way of asking...ordering you to behave yourself from now on. You aren't fired this time, but I don't want anymore slip ups." The man finished strongly, and Leo nodded solemnly.

"Understood."

"...also, and this is something I never thought I would ask...but could you get Freddy to stop glaring at me?" The manager asked and Leo couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"...I thought you weren't sure about their sentience?"

"Shut up and tell the bear to ^%$^% off." The man swore and his employee blinked in response.

"Um...yessir..." Leo trailed watching the man a moment, only for him to open up the doors...and step out. Only to lean back into the doorframe and gave a tense smile.

"Also those holes in the drywall are coming out of your paycheck." And with that he left. The guard let out a breath and slumped back in his seat with a profanity.

I hope you guys enjoyed!

I'm curious, what do you all think of Acid? Or Leo's revelation about the drugs affecting his memories?

I'd love to hear what you think!

Thank you for all the support!
