Chapter 7: My Sweet Passion

Cream the Rabbit was getting old by the minute. She had hit the double digits of age not too long ago, and she could feel her body blossoming over the days going by. They were still currently living at the Thorndyke mansion—they hadn't found a way back to their home planet yet. Not that that mattered much, the only thing that sucked right now was Cream missing her mother. Everybody else was there with her, so it kept her company.

Amy was helping her cope with her newfound crush on Tails the Fox. It happened so suddenly; it was such a weird feeling at first. The butterflies that entered her tummy every time he entered the room. The way his voice sounded whenever they were hanging out together made her cheeks flush into a deep crimson of red. Of course, being only young still, Cream had asked Amy what this feeling was and why was she feeling it?

Amy laughed at her question.

"Oh Cream, you have a crush girlie!" The pink girl says with a small laugh. The bunny's eyes furrowed in confusion. 'A crush'? What is this crush? She crossed her arms across her chest unhappily. She didn't like being confused, and whatever this crush was she didn't want to get in trouble for feeling it either. The last thing she needed was for Ella to give her a lecture or some sort. Of course, being lectured is for her own good. But it still hurts sometimes.

"Crush?" Cream asked curiously. She cutely tilts her head to the side when asking the question. She looked so adorable right now by doing so.

"Yes. A crush is when you like somebody in a romantic way and you're pinning towards them! Right now, you and Tails aren't together as a couple, but the crush is your mind's way of telling you that you want to be together romantically." Amy explains patiently. Cream's eyes widened at the thought of that. Goodness gracious, if her mother were here right now, she wouldn't approve of this whatsoever.

"So…kind of like the way you are with Mister Sonic?" Cream says back. Tapping her fingers against the coffee table. Now it's beginning to make sense. Amy has had a crush on Sonic for as long as anybody could remember. She was always chasing him or asking him out on frequent dates. But from what she could remember, Sonic never said yes to any of it. Poor Amy.

Now it was Amy's turn to turn bright red in the face. Kind of like out of embarrassment or maybe she was proud of the way she did things around Sonic.

"Yeahhh…kind of like that I guess you can say. But Cream, there's nothing wrong with having a crush my girl. If anything, it's such a wonderful feeling! The way your heart flutters at the thought of the certain person makes your entire day so much better. And girl, you've picked an amazing boy to have a crush on. Tails is such a good person; I know he would treat you well. And that's what matters the most."

It took a few minutes for Cream's brain to really kick in what Amy was saying. Well…if it wasn't something bad or anything. And the pink heroine herself always crushes on somebody without getting in trouble so it wouldn't matter if she did the same thing. This was the best part of being around Amy, she was like a big sister to the rabbit. She always knew the right thing to say, she always had the greatest advice.

"Thanks Amy. You really helped me out today, I have to get going though. I'm going to plant some more seeds in my garden before dinner. Ella hopes my tomatoes will be fully grown by next week so we can make some soup with it." Cream says happily. Giving off a small wave to Amy before she took off to the backyard.

If there was one thing in this world that made Cream the happiest was her garden. She has the biggest green thumb known to man. She knew how to plant the seeds, tend to them, then professionally harves them once they were fully grown. Sometimes Ella would help her by coming out to harvest the plants with her. Other times Tails would come help too. It was such a nice gesture, for gardening is such time-consuming work.

As soon as she got outside, Cream got out her watering can from the tool shed in the backyard. She struggled to get it across the field of plants, but somehow managed. She began watering the plants within her garden, humming happily to herself. Everything was just so peaceful. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and everybody was keeping busy. Today was going to be a good day.

Cream's ears perked up when she heard Tails' voice coming from the distance. She quickly took charge and looked towards the direction where his voice was coming from. Within the distance, you could see Tails showing the new girl Cosmo this latest machinery. He was ranting about how to put together a plane, and the materials needed to fix planes. A subject the fox was extremely passionate about.

Cosmo was giggling beside him, taking much interest in what he was saying. Cosmo was found by Sonic. She was looking for him so they could talk about something important. Since then, Ella and the Thorndyke household accepted her into their home with opened arms.

She was a nice girl; she didn't try to cause any fights with anybody. She quickly adapted to the environment and quickly became friends with everybody. Sonic and Tails seemed to be the closest to her now. It was nice to have somebody else in the house. What's one, more right? Well, except for this moment. Where Cosmo looks like she's getting too up close and personal with Tails. The way she was laughing at his jokes about planes, lightly touching his arm to say that she understood what he was talking about. It caused a flare within Cream.

Something nasty just sparked in her. She didn't like the thought of Cosmo, this new plant girl, being too close to her Tails.

Well…he wasn't exactly hers yet.

Cream was so distracted by the sight of Cosmo and Tails together that she didn't hear Ella calling out to her from the kitchen window. Their kitchen window was right above where her garden was, which was super convenient. If it were supper time and the rabbit was outside tending to her garden, the window was right there to tell her that dinner was served.

"Miss Cream! You're overwatering that plant in front of you. Miss Cream!" Ella shouts from the window. Cupping her hands over her mouth to get the girl to hear her better. Cream shook her head out of her jealous thoughts and looked at her tomato plant that was turning a dark brown from absorbing too much water.

Cream quickly jumped from the ground, covering her mouth with her hands. The sound of the watering can hit loudly to the ground.

"Oh shoot! I'm so sorry Ella. Thank you for telling me." Cream says gloomy. Goodness. The scene of Tails and Cosmo talking so happily to one another really caught a negative energy and vibe within the rabbit. She didn't like the thought of it at all.

Tails was supposed to be her best friend! He was supposed to be standing that close to Cream and laugh like that. Her and Tails hung out all the time, they were always doing something together. Tails would open the door for her to enter the mansion, or he would come to her room whenever she was having a nightmare. Sometimes, he would even make her, her favourite double chocolate fudge milkshake to wake up to in the morning. Small gestures like that is what caused Cream to form a crush on the fox to begin with. He was so kind to her, he treated her so well already.

But what if he was only doing that to be polite? What if he didn't actually like her? What if he liked Cosmo and only did stuff to Cream out of pity?

Cream got up from the ground she was sitting on and sat her watering can into a sitting position, so it wasn't spilling out access water onto her plants. Slight tears were forming her eyes from such awful, negative thoughts. In this moment, it seemed like the girl was just being dramatic. But Cream was still only young yet. Her emotions were all over the place—that's what puberty does to you.

This was her first time forming a crush on somebody. This was her first time even knowing what a crush even was. So, of course she was going to get upset seeing her first-time crush interacting so passionately with somebody else.

She quickly ran into the house. Ignoring Amy's worried glance from afar, and Sonic's too. Cream tried desperately to rub her teary eyes as she managed to rush past Sonic and Amy who were sitting in the living room. Her footsteps were heard rushing up the stairs to her room, and the door was slammed shut as she got to the top.

Sonic and Amy looked at each other worriedly.

"I'll go talk to her." Amy reassures. Getting up from the couch. It was like Cream to get upset like this…she always was a happy-go-lucky rabbit; she always had a smile on her face. There were very few things that made Cream this sad. To the point where she was crying her eyes out. So, something was wrong.

"Cream? Come on, open the door please. I can't help you if I don't know what's going on." Amy says softly, knocking on the door softly. Sniffles were being heard from the other side; it made the pink girl's heart shatter into a million pieces.

"Cream?" Amy asked again. To her surprise, the rabbit opened the door seconds later to reveal her teary eyes and red flushed cheeks from crying.

"Hi Amy." Cream mutters. The older girl pulled the younger into her arms swiftly, pushing the two of them inside. Using her foot to close the door behind them.

"What's wrong girl? Talk to me." Amy demand softly. She brought Cream over to her bed so they both could sit down. The rabbit buried her face into the pink heroine's shoulder, loud sniffling was heard from across the room.

"Today I witnessed something horrible outside. Cosmo and Tails were talking to each other in a passionate kind of way." Cream murmured, bowing her head in shame when admitting to what happened. After saying it out loud, it did make her sound dramatic.

Amy looked confused by the statement.

"Passionate kind of way…oh! You mean flirting?" Amy says softly. Draping an arm around the girl once she received a nod as a response. "Cream…that's not something silly to be hurt about. Remember how we discussed earlier about your newfound crush on Tails? It's normal to feel jealousy rising when seeing him flirt with other people. Although, I don't think he was flirting back. I think he likes you back Creamy."

Again—it took a long time for Cream's brain to register this. The negative thoughts and feelings were coming back at the one time, overbearing her insides. A lot of 'what if' scenarios were flowing through her head as well. What if Amy was wrong? What if he didn't return her feelings? What if, what if?

"I don't know Amy…you should've seen the way they looked at each other. She touched his arm and a blush formed onto his face." Cream explains, her voice was full of sadness.

Amy shakes her head.

"That's probably because Tails isn't used to somebody touching him in such a way, let alone a girl. I really, truly 100% believe Tails returns your feelings girlie. If you think Tails' expression is good on Cosmo, you should see the way he looks at you Cream." Amy comforts her friend.

Cream pulled away from Amy for a moment to think about her memories with the fox boy. They got along great; he did so many small, tiny gestures for her. However, she never realized or even took notice of the way he looks at her. Cream wasn't good at picking up on things like that.

"How do I fix this Amy? I don't think I can face Cosmo right now. Seeing her face would just make me want to cry again, what do I do?" The cute rabbit girl was desperate for remorse and clarification. In Cream's eyes, Amy was the expert here. She was pretty good at handling situations whether that were good or bad around Sonic.

"I think you should just go talk to him. Confess how you were feeling and talk about the situation and how to make it better. That's the quickest and easiest thing to do. Communication is key." Amy says sweetly, letting go from her friend to stand up from the bed. She extended a hand to the rabbit, pulling her into a comforting standing hug.

"Thanks Amy…again. You always know what to say." Cream smiles.

"Any time girlie! Now go get your man."

It was dinner time, and Ella had asked Cream to help her with making supper tonight. Which the girl didn't mind at all. She enjoyed cooking and learning from her mistakes when cooking every day. Tonight, they were making homemade pizza and salad with garlic bread. The scent of garlic was strong throughout the kitchen. Cream stood on her tippy toes so she could grab the plates from the upper cupboard, placing them onto the counter once successfully retrieving them.

"Everybody come for supper! Don't let it get cold." Ella shouts from the doorway of the kitchen. Placing a hand over her mouth for herself to be heard from everybody around the mansion. Sometimes, when she wanted to be, she was loud.

Footsteps were heard from across the house; some were coming from upstairs. Some were coming from outside. Etc. It took a few minutes before everybody was sitting down across the kitchen table. Ella had placed three different trays of the food so everybody could just grab as they pleased. Ella helped Cream with her plate though, along with Tails'.

Sat across the table was Ella, Tails, Cream, and Chuck. Across from them were Sonic, Amy, and Cosmo and the housekeeper. The sounds of light scraps of the plates were heard from across the table, as everybody quickly dug into their food. Cream gasped but also giggled a bit when Tails played footsie with her under the table. They made clear eye contact from the side of each other, and a warm blush formed onto her cheeks at the actions. Was this flirting?

The moment, however, was ruined when Cosmo's voice was heard from across the table.

"Tails? Would you be ever so kind to pass the salt and pepper please?" Cosmo asks sweetly. Her tone of voice was full of sunshine, happiness. Cream's eyes furrowed with annoyance and confusion. Was this flirting?

"Uh, sure Cosmo!" Tails says back. Passing the two spices to the girl. Cream's face completely fell when she noticed that their hands touched slightly as Tails was passing them over. Cosmo giggled lightly, rubbing the top of his hand softly.

Now it was like the girl was doing this on purpose. To make Cream feel horrible and sad. Jealousy was NOT a nice feeling with this.

"Thank you Tails. You're too kind." Yep. She was doing this on purpose. She was making such a bigger deal out of the passing of spices than she should have been.

Anger flared up within Cream once more. Her hands balled up into fists from underneath the table. Amy looked back and forth between the three, noticing the tension and awkwardness from afar. Sonic on the other hand? Either didn't notice or didn't seem to care. As he stuffed his pizza down his throat eagerly. Amy elbowed him just as he did that, muttering to show some respect.

Tails shrugged his shoulders at Cosmo's response, looking down at his food and not making any more eye contact with the plant girl. Cream felt a grin forming her face now at the scene. She always had the thought of being like 'ha-ha! In your face' to Cosmo. But that would be considered childish and she is not childish.

Cosmo frowned at Tails' reaction. She expected more from him, seeming as he was so passionate with his machinery topic that they had earlier. Why isn't he reacting the same way now? She cleared her throat, eyeing at Cream with a glare on her face.

"Tails. Could you please be a dear and pass me some water from the jug?" Cosmo asked again. Cream just stared at her with a shake of the head. This girl was insane, literally. She too, probably had a big crush on Tails but unfortunately for her, it wasn't doing her any good.

Tails' reaction this time, showed a bit more annoyance.

"Can't you get it? It's right beside your arm." Tails mumbled. Although, he didn't want to come off as rude or anything. He wasn't a rude boy; he went above and beyond for his friends and everything that they did. But Cosmo's requests were becoming a bit ridiculous. The water was hitting her left arm, why couldn't she grab it?

Cream shuffled out a tiny giggle when Cosmo's cheeks puffed up in embarrassment. She made a loud, 'hmpt!' sound and got up from the table. She let out a small, 'excuse me' before heading towards the back of the mansion where her bedroom was located. Tails just gave off a confused look towards everybody still at the table.

"Am I missing something? Did I do something wrong?" Tails asked quietly. "The water jug was right next to her arm; I really don't see why she wanted me to lean over the table to grab it only to put it two seconds away from her."

"Well maybe she has a crush on you." Sonic says through a mouthful of food. Causing Amy to elbow him again.

"Don't talk with your mouth full Sonic! Don't be rude!" Amy scolded, sighing when Sonic scratched the back of his head. Letting out an, 'I'm sorry.'

Tails' eyes widened briefly at that.

"C-crush? On me?" Tails squeaked out; his voice turned into a high-pitched sound. Now it was his turn for his cheeks to turn bright red. Cream watched his reaction slowly and carefully, engulfing in all his body language and movements.

Sonic nods his head.

"Cosmo has the same reaction Amy does for me, but this time it's towards you little buddy." Sonic explains, holding his hands up swiftly in surrender. He was half expecting Amy to hit him again—for 'disrespecting her name' or some sort. Instead, the pink heroine just kept quiet. Much to his relief. He let out a happy sigh with relief.

Tails couldn't believe his ears. He first looked at Cream; then his gaze slowly turned towards Amy, then Sonic. Before moving back around the table again. Cream bit her lip with anticipation. She couldn't recognize his facial expression. Was this good? Was this bad? Amy looked at her best friend Cream with a reassuring smile, trying to give off some silent support.

"I don't know how I feel about that you guys…I mean, Cosmo is a nice girl and all…but my heart is set on somebody else." Tails confessed. His cheeks were still a deep shade of pink. Cream felt her heart falling deeply into her chest, it's like her whole world was falling apart.

Somebody else? Who else could Tails possibly like? This is a disaster.

Amy looked at her best friend with a sad smile, moving to grab the cute bunny's hand from underneath the table. Cream looked up from her half-eaten plate in front of her and stared at Amy with a sad expression. Underneath the table, she gripped Amy's hand back in return.

Ella could sense the tension in the room and eyed at everybody for a second. Before getting up from the table and clapping her hands together loudly.

"Okay! Dinner is done, dishes time. Cream, Amy, come help me in the kitchen please." Ella sets out a tiny order. The girls nodded their heads at the request and began lifting the plates off the table. Heading into the kitchen once they both grabbed all of them from each side. Little did they realize that Ella had done this purposely so she could have a word with the girls.

Upon entering the kitchen, Ella turned to the girls with her hands on her hips. A dish towel was thrown over her shoulder.

"I sense some girl drama in dinning room! What is going on?" Ella demanded. Cream shuffled on both feet, trying to avoid all eye contact by staring at this certain place on the ground. It's times like those that reminded her of being lectured and being lectured was not a nice feeling.

Amy noticed her friend's distress and shook her head.

"Cream found out today that she has a crush on Tails. And she saw Cosmo and Tails flirting with each other earlier. Or—what she thought was flirting. But from hearing Tails confess that he doesn't like Cosmo back and somebody else, that brings Cream back to being distressed." Amy explains. She brought Cream into a side hug.

Ella's once angered eyes now softened up. She nodded her head in understanding and placed the dish towel onto the counter to start doing the dishes from tonight's supper. She was relieved that nothing bad had happened. Nobody was in trouble; nobody was in danger. They were all safe.

"I see. Miss Cream…whoever Mister Tails has a crush on, I would not get upset. Tails is your friend, and you are supposed to be supportive." Ella says with her back turned towards both girls.

Amy turns to Cream and nods her head.

"She's right Cream. Although, I still think that he likes you. You should really start to notice the way he stares at you girlie. Pure adoration!" Amy giggles. With that, the girls walked out of the kitchen and back into the dinning room. It was empty now though. The boys were probably back up in their rooms in the attic, and Cosmo? Who knows where she went.

"I guess you're right. Either way, I'm still his friend and I need to be supportive." Cream says, repeating what Ella had said.

"That's my girl. Now how about we go for a walk?"

Cream nods.

When Amy and Cream were on their way back into the driveway of the mansion, they could see Tails and Cosmo standing in front of the doors. She was twirling her hair in her finger, while giggling endlessly at whatever Tails was saying. He on the other hand? Looked awkward and shy. He was seen scratching the back of his head and didn't reply to most of what she was saying. Cream sighs loudly, crossing her arms across her chest.

"Oh great." She whispers towards Amy. Amy bit her lip softly at the scene, she was trying her hardest to be comforting to Cream and keep her calm and collective. But she knew deep down, Tails liked Cream back. She just couldn't say or do anything about it. She had to let them figure it out for themselves.

"Ahem." Amy clears her throat at the two. Causing them to both almost jump out of their skins. Cosmo gripped her now fast beating heart, giving off a sly smile to Amy and a glare to Cream. Tails' reaction was different though. He gave off a thank you with his facial features. Relief.

"Cosmo. I think Ella wanted us to help with some Halloween decorations. Come now." Amy says, ignoring the pout Cosmo gives her in return. But she nodded nonetheless and followed the pink hero into the mansion. Slamming the front doors behind them. Leaving Cream and Tails by themselves outside.

Cream shuffled on her feet again, putting her hands in front of her tummy shyly.

"Tails there's something I have to confess, okay?" Cream squeaks.

The fox nodded his head in worrisome. Using his hand as a gesture to continue. He didn't say anything back in return, and patiently waited to see what the rabbit had to say.

"I…I…. I like you! I have a crush on you. I want us to be together romantically. Every time I see you with Cosmo it kills my poor fragile heart on the inside. I just figured out what this feeling was this morning and at first I thought it was something terrible that I could get in trouble over; but Amy explained to me that this wasn't the case and I just wanted to be your girlfriend. And I also found out what jealousy is. I understand if you don't want to be with me, just please go easy on me." Cream ranted. She let out a large breath after saying all that. Her heart was now pounding heavily into her chest. She didn't know what Tails' reaction was going to be.

This was the most Cream has talked in a long, long time. It was silent for a few minutes, nobody said anything. Cream felt her heart shattering into her chest even more when Tails didn't respond right away. She opened her mouth to say something else—probably to apologize for bringing something so big onto Tails' shoulders. But her thoughts were cut off by the fox laughing and pulling her into a hug.

"Cream. Cosmo has been creeping me out every day since she got here. She's been trying to catch my attention at everything, except nothing worked. The only conversation that we had that was interesting was my machines. You know how much I love my machines." Tails explains. Cream's eyes widened from behind Tails' shoulders. She gently crept her arms around his waist in return.

"Oh…" Was all that came out of her mouth. She didn't know how to respond. Tails just chuckles again, grinning from ear to ear.

"I want us to be together romantically too Cream. I would love to be your boyfriend. It's not Cosmo I like, it's you." Tails whispers into her ear.

Cream gasped loudly at Tails' confession. Amy was right! Amy was always right; she had the mind of a queen. Her once shattered heart picked up the pieces from the ground and formed back into a heart. The butterflies entered her body once again, fluttering at everything. The way Tails was hugging her, the way the sun was shinning bright in the background. Everything at that moment, seemed perfect.

"Thank you Tails. Thank you for liking me." Cream says lamely, burying her face into his chest with embarrassment at her own words. Tails' laughter was once again heard throughout their ears. Except this time, he didn't say anything. Instead, he pulled away slightly to look her into the eyes. Giving off a slight smile.

Cream couldn't contain herself with what she did next—she leaned in to give Tails a kiss on the cheek. But because both were inexperienced, he turned his head to react at just the right moment for their lips to lock instead.

The kiss didn't last long, mainly a few seconds. Those few seconds though, brought fireworks to both. Cream's face flushed deeply with happiness, as did his. He took her hand swiftly in his own and walked her inside.

Nobody noticed that Amy was watching them from the living room window in awe. Her hands were cupped over her cheeks with happiness.

What can she say? She was always right!

A/N: Hello friends! Thank you for sticking around for chapter seven of my story. Like I said above—I wanted to update this quickly for I missed writing this fanfic. I would never just abandon a story no matter how overwhelmed I got with writer's block!

I feel like I'm always apologizing for something when writing LOL. I'm sorry for any characters being OOC. I'm also sorry to any Cosmo fans. Like Sally, I don't hate her…I just dislike her as a character. I also HATE Tails and Cosmo as a ship. Almost as much as I hate Sally and Sonic. I'm sorry x3 for making Cream sound like a child even though I mentioned that she was hitting puberty. Do ya'll remember when you had your first crush? I certain do! Well try and look at it like that.

Next chapter is going to have a bunch of different ships in it. I just need to think of a plot line for those ships.
