The fact that I prove myself to Dom, meant I was given more jobs and responsibilities. The main one being that I was allowed to finally work on the cars. Hair in a messy bun, don in overalls, gloves, as I work on a car doing an easy oil change. Ignoring the glances from Vince.

"Can I help you with something Vince?" I asked with my back to him.

"How come Dom is letting a kid work on cars?" He asked. "And a girl with that?"

"Wow, you have two eyes," I replied looking up at him. "You got an issue with taking it up with Dom."

Turning back to working on the car, Vince's eyes were still burning holes in the back of my head.

"Take a picture it will last longer," I said as I work on the car.

"Go back to the kitchen," Vince ordered.

Anger course through me.

"I'm taking a break!" I announced walking away from the car and headed into the junkyard.

Angry at Vince for being a jerk, I could find peace in the spare metal and rusting pieces. Feeling eyes on me, glancing around but not seeing anything, causing me to go on high alert. Reaching and pulled out my Swiss army knife, opening it to a corkscrew tool which made the Swiss army knife became a small Warhammer, which glowed and shine bronze in the sun. Glancing around before seeing it, a monster came from the alley hissing and growling before launched itself at me. Swinging the war hammer, a sickening thud, and crunch to its skull, killing it. It soon disappearing into sand, which the wind blew it away. Closing the corkscrew tool and the Swiss army reappeared. Slipping it back into my pocket. Feeling somewhat better, and walked away and walk into the shop. Seeing that Vince was gone but Jessie was still there.

"Where's Vince?" I asked.

Jessie looked up from the computer.

"Oh hey Toni," He said. "He's going to blow off some stream, Letty suggested it."

"Smart idea from Letty," I said. "What are you working on Jessie?"

"Working on a new design for a car." He said.

"Ah okay," I said walking past him and get back to finish the oil change.

"So Toni," Jessie said. "When did you started to work on cars?"

"I have always been a fan of using metal and stuff to create," I said. "My stepdad is the one that first started to teach me how to work on cars and how to fix them much to my mother's and grandmother's dismay."

"Really?" He asked looking up from the computer. "Why wouldn't they want you to be happy?"

"They both would rather me doing girly things," I said. "Much like sewing and learning how to keep the house."

"Really and I'm suggesting that is not your thing?" Jessie asked.

"Yeah," I said. "It's not my thing, I've never been girly and stuff."

"Hmmm," Jessie said before going back to his computer.

I could feel Abuela's eyes on me at home.

"Is something wrong Abuela?" I asked as I was setting the table.

"Nothing is wrong, Antonia." She replied as she fixes dinner.

Jose was upstairs washing his hands. Her eyes were still watching me. Fixing the urge to tell her everything but I knew that I would face her wrath. So I kept my mouth shut. Jose's loud footsteps broke the tension that was coming through both of us.

"So is dinner ready yet?" He asked.

"Nearly done," Abuela said. "Just need to pull the chicken out."

"Okay." He said and taking a seat.

"Antonia get the salad out," Abuela ordered. "And the dressing."

"Yes Abuela," I said walking past her to the fridge to get the said salad and dressing.

Jose gave me the side-eye as if asking me why I was taking the crap from her. Shooting my own look back silently telling him to not ask. I knew that Abuela was going to be a right bitch about it.

After Abuela had gone to bed, I slipped downstairs and into the garage to work more on Jose's iron man suit. Footsteps alerted me, making me on edge but soon Jose appeared in the garage.

"Gods don't do that Jose," I muttered. "You nearly gave me a heart attack."

"Sorry," Jose whispered walking into the garage. "I didn't too scare you. I don't understand why you don't stand up to her Toni."

"It works better this way right now," I replied as I screw a nail into a piece of metal.

"But still Toni," Jose said.

"It's just better that way Jose," I said placing the arm part of the armor. "So I have enough metal for your iron man armor."

"Awesome," He said. "So it will be ready for Halloween?"

"Halloween is like one and half months away Jose," I said.

"Really I know but still." He said with a smirk.

He yawned and lay his head on my shoulder.

"Go back to sleep if you are sleepy Jose," I said. "I will be up soon okay."

"Okay," Jose said slowly stand up and walk back into the house.

Just smiling at his form disappeared, screwing the arm into the shoulder pad before heading back into the house to sleep.

Glancing at the calendar that was on the garage wall before going back to my work on the car before me. Not seeing that Mia was watching me. She opened her mouth as she drove me home, which is when Abuela was at church.

"So when is your birthday Toni?" She asked.

"What?" I asked surprised.

"Birthday Toni?" She asked.

"September 17," I muttered not meeting her eyes. "Why?"

"I would like to know that," Mia said.

"Oh okay," I said.

"Do you have a license yet?" Mia asked.

"No not yet, I do have my permit through," I said looking at her.

"Alright, you need to learn how to drive," Mia said.

"Mia really you don't have to," I replied. "I'll figure it out."

"Nope, you are going to learn from me." She said.

"Have fun with that," I said, "Mom tried and it didn't end well."

"Have a little faith in me, Toni," Mia replied.
