Dear readers,
I want to say thanks to the people that take their time to read the fic. I do really appreciate it. And I am glad some people still enjoy it.
As I said at the other chapter, this year hit me with full force. I do know my writing skills are not the same anymore, but I do not think it is fair do leave my fics, all of them, apart one, that I am not sure if I ever can continuous, with not an end.
So once again, if you want a perfect English, do not even try to read. I am sincere here.
And about you that wrote a review, since the update of chapter 5:
his-red-head – Thanks to appreciate it.
Shazr – I am glad you are enjoying and discovered the fic.
MJS – Thanks to appreciate it and you too, stay safe. And well, I fix the issue but not easy. Win 10 can be a nightmare sometimes. Luckily I have some friends that are genius in IT.
Icequeen1955 – I will end the fic, you can be sure of that.
grizfholmes – Thanks about your opinion. A lot of people do believe if my English is not perfect, so, it is a terrible idea to even write…
OSIRIS VALESKY – I do hope you had had a good Christmas
SP – Good that you are excited about the updates but will not come to many anymore, sadly or not, depends on your point of view (but you can always try my other fics!) I chapter is okay, and the expectation is compensated.
This chapter is a bit longer than the previous one. I want to alert that here have some topics that can cause some distress and anxiety so, if you do prefer to skip the first part (Townhouse), it is okay and not totally essential. And start to read from "True Friendship". So everyone here is my last update of 2020.
I hope everyone had have a good Christmas and are safe. Take care you all and have a safe and health 2021.
Enjoy. x

Disclaimer:
I do not own DWP and its characters; they belong to Lauren Weisberger and 20th Century Fox. I only own some characters, some of them already had been created and others might be in the near future of this fanfic. This fic is for entertainment and fun and, I do not own any money with the fic...
6. Lost and found
Townhouse
Miranda has been in her room for a few hours now. The place is quiet, and she is deep in her throughs.
Once more she decided to take control of her life. The only way she does know how to do this is forgetting the world around herself.
She has been daydreaming about a past she many times denied once existed. Back to a time where her life was easier, calm, and, simple.
She loves her daughters, but something is missing. Someone.
During her first years of life, she had had all. A small house, with love around and, two siblings. But life decided to play with her since incredibly young age. The "Dragon Lady", "The Ice Queen", that the press love to talk about, started a long time ago.
Miranda's childhood was nothing extraordinary. But one day, all changed. An accident when she was returning from her grandmother's house. At the car, all the men she once loved. Joseph, her father, and her two brothers, Adam, and her beloved Matthew.
Joseph Princhek lost the control of their car in a night of heavy snow. Miriam, at age 13, was sitting at the back, in the middle of her brothers.
Adam, 16, started a part-time job in a shoe store, two weeks before the travel and was sleeping. A heavy ginger head hair resting at the window. She misses his brown eyes deeply.
Matthew, 15, was trying to read a book. The boy suborns by itself, decided to go against her advice that doing it he was damaging his blue eyes. She rolled her eyes to his nonsense and smiled. Their bond something, she believed, at that time, nothing could break. And this is the most beautiful memory of him. A shy smile and his very thin curly blonde hair.
Almost arriving in their house in East London the accident happened. A fox crossed the road and Joseph, not wanting to hit the animal, tried to avoid it. He had success about the fox but with it, their car had been hit by a truck in the opposite direction.
Joseph died instantly. Adam spent two days at hospital, in coma. Matthew died hours after the accident. From all of them, the death that affected her more has been Matt. Matthew tried to protect his sister hugging her before the impact.
Today, 40 years after the accident, Miranda still remember, and it is like the time did not passed by. Every year she lights a candle to them. Every year she allowed herself to cry for the only men that really made a difference in her life.
Everything changed in that day and, it defined whom she is now. She is what she is because of their deaths.
As almost every girl, she was closer to her father. Aura, her mother, died two years before her father and her brothers. Lung cancer. She loved cigarettes more than her life. This made Miranda not tolerate cigarettes.
True Friendship
For four years, after her brothers and father's death, she lived with her grandmother Sophie. The woman felt guilty for the deaths and take Miranda to live with her. The relation between them, that has never been good, became almost impossible to deal with.
But Miranda wanted leave for good and until she did not have all the money in need, she tolerated it all.
At her 15, Miranda found a job in a tailor store. There she learned how to draw suits. Simon, her boss, said she had "the eye" to fashion and classic.
At the age of 17, she had been invited by Simon, to have a dinner with some important people from America.
At that day Miriam started to transform herself in Miranda Priestly. The meeting was with some businessmen. They said that for years, both, have been working in a fashion newspaper. But now the owners decided to separate it, a newspaper to men and a magazine, for women.
The man, Mr. Foster, remark they understand a lot about men clothes but not too much about women. Miriam, even if working in a tailor store, had shown her potential to them with some drawings of dresses.
Miriam could not go to America at that time, but they liked her. Mr. Foster take from his suit a black card, with writing in gold. It was his business card.
"When you are a little bit older, come to me."
Well, a little bit older is a relative phrase and she decided, time is something precious and she could not wait too long.
Simon, that became a friend and a father figure, paid for her to study for two months in France. According to him, an opportunity came to work in a friend's clothes shop.
The family business needed someone able to communicate in English and basic French was enough. What Simon were not aware at that time was that Miriam were fluent in French, being the number one student at school. Plus, Matt and her, always had read in French because they liked the sound of the pronunciation.
As she returned to England, her boss informed that she will not be working with him anymore. She wanted to cry at that moment.
Simon had hug her and smiled. At the envelope, a thick one, was the money that could take a few months to make. As a minor she did not have a big income, but Simon decided to give to her the same amount he had paid for his two adult employees.
"It's time to you to show the world whom you are, my dear."
Miriam had taken all her savings, leaving England behind, and boarding a ship to America. At the ship, she studied some women around. Some of them, from rich families, with servants and expensive dresses. But not pretty dresses. Only ordinary clothes.
America - flashback
Miriam Princhek and New York. As she arrived at the harbour her eyes were shining. She left behind a country that she loved but that could not offer anything else to her. At this new country, a new life.
At the age of 18, completed during the travelling, Miriam died. Miranda Priestly was born as soon as she left the ship.
America had one think different from England that she realized as soon as she reaches the floor of the harbour. The smell of coffee. People waiting for others, with coffee in hands. The smell reach her nose and she smiled. A new beginning means, adventures. She could change the tea for coffee if is this that the Americans drink.
Present, Miranda with a cup of coffee, now at her kitchen -
Coffee could be found in England too but for some reason it lost his force between the community to tea. Maybe because tea has been so much cheaper for years with no end. No one do care if is a bad tea, if is tea. But a bad coffee, well she learned, bad coffee is impossible do drink. It is the same of whiskey. You do need to have the better, does not matter how much it costs.
Back to flashback
As she walked thrown the doors, after the immigration, a tall man approached her.
"Hello Miriam. It is really nice to see you again."
"Hello Mr. Foster*. Call me Miranda. Miriam no longer exist."
Miranda. She decided to take the name of one of the most important characters of the book "The Tempest" from William Shakespeare.
The surname Priestly came from one of her friends. Joanna Priestly that lived far from her in England, in Yorkshire area. They met once, they kissed once. But nothing more happened. They choose different patches, but she made an impression at Miranda.
Mr. Foster, in his forties, only nodded. The young woman had this fire in her eyes and, he admired it.
"Miranda, follow me. My chauffeur is waiting for us."
"Chauffeur?"
"Yes. Please darling, became aware that your life will never, ever, be the same."
Miranda nodded. She knew it.
"So, Miranda tells me, how do you want be knowing from now on? You said you are not Miriam anymore. So, what you will be? Miranda Princhek?
"No. She is dead."
As these words, the two men at the car, Mr. Foster and the driver felt a colder temperature at the vehicle. The girl, this young woman, had something they never saw before. She had this powerful desire of success that Foster have been looking for years.
"So…"
"Priestly"
Foster nodded. The silence in the car was so thick that could be cut with a knife. Minutes later, after a short drive, they arrived at their destiny.
"Miranda. You are staying in this place for now until we can find an appropriate accommodation to you. Because your short notice, we didn't find anything good yet."
"Short notice?! I stayed a few at the sea Mr. Foster"
"Well, you did indeed but still. We will find something to you, young lady."
Miranda smiled. She left East London behind and welcome Brooklyn. And she promised herself, in one year, her life was going to change again.
