Batman
Wayne Family
The duo looked back and forth from the adult male to the young adolescent by his side.
Similar black hair.
One with blue eyes, the other with green.
Same eye shape and overall facial structure.
One with pale peach skin, the other with a darker olive complexion.
Kagome and Tim shared a shocked glance.
The young boy switched from glowering to sneering at the taller teens before him.
Bruce sighed as he held his firm grip on the tense shoulder of Damian.
The Dark Knight had yet to share the purpose of the younger boy's presence but it did not take much time before the two teenagers figured the relation. Pride prickled his chest, all his children held a higher than average intelligence but Kagome and Tim topped that meter.
"Tou-san?" Kagome tilted her head in question, "Is that who we think it is?"
Bruce nodded firmly, "This is Damian…he is Talia's and my child."
The air stilled around them, the severity of the situation making itself clear.
"Oh," the Asian girl whispered.
"Wow, you get around," Tim commented dryly, finally dropping their school bags on to the floor. They had just made their way home from another day at Gotham Academy and was greeted by their guardian and a boy that definitely wasn't there before. For Bruce to even be home this early meant business.
With a nudge, he pulled the shocked Kagome to sit at the large dining room table.
With another sigh, Bruce pushed his newly discovered son to follow the teens and take a seat on the opposite side of the table. Bruce met resistance but simply gave a firm push to settle the boy into a spare chair.
The four shared trepid stares before the only female smiled at the newcomer.
"It is nice to meet you, I'm Kagome and he's Tim. There's also Jason and Richard but they don't live here, so the official welcome party probably won't be until later. But welcome to the family, I'm guessing you'll be staying with us?" She asked, keeping her tone light as she addressed Bruce with the second question.
The harsh bite to the young boy's expression seemed to ebb the slightest as he stared at her face.
"Yes. You must be his other real child," The boy finally spoke with startling aggression, nose upturned in clear distaste, "I'm not impressed. My superiority is clear and I will be declared the rightful heir to the Wayne legacy."
The girls' eyebrows shot up and disappeared behind her bangs.
Tim immediately glared at the insult thrown not only at himself but at Kagome's worthiness as well.
Bruce palmed his face, it had been one thing to try and interact with the boy by himself. But now that Damian was re-directing his intensity elsewhere, Bruce prayed his house wouldn't get burned down by the end of his introduction.
He had already called for an emergency meeting that night, so Bruce hoped that the other two volatile males under his charge wouldn't cause too much trouble.
Not only that, this meant he'd need to indoctrinate Damian into his social circles as well.
That would be a treat, the last uproar from Kagome's own introduction had yet to die down. Being known to adopt orphans was one thing, but to pop up one day to declare he had a teenage, blood-related daughter was another. His mailbox alone spilled out every day with letters of intent to pursue marriage or arranged marriage with Kagome. Bruce was quick to throw those in the fire and they were never short of fuel for the fireplace.
The hero-by-night looked up and caught the worried glance of his only daughter. She gave him the small but loving smile that he loved so much over the past year. Despite her age, now that Bruce had her in his life, she would always be his little girl. He had missed the first part of her life and was determined to be there for the rest of it. In a family of rowdy boys, she proved to play just as hard - as well as hold a peace that quelled the Wayne family.
"Take that back brat, we've been with Bruce far longer than you ever will be," Tim ground out with a smirk, "At least he chose to have us."
Damian snapped, jumping out of his seat to point at the other boy angrily, "If I had been born earlier then none of you would have been adopted, let alone exist."
"Born? I think you mean summoned from hell!"
Despite the insults flying across the table between the two boys, the furrow in Bruce's brow relaxed.
