ACT 5 - SCENE SET 6
EXT. OUTSIDE EMILY'S APARTMENT BUILDING - 6.1
START SCENE
Emily walked down the street, about to turn into the entryway of her building when she felt eyes on her. Doyle? She spun around and drew her gun, pointing it at the figure behind her.
Morgan: Woah, Prentiss, it's just me!
Emily sighed.
Prentiss: Morgan! You scared the living daylights out of me! What- why are you following me?
Morgan: we need to talk. What was with the brush off today?
Prentiss: Morgan, I-I don't want to talk about this. Not right now. I'm tired
She waves him off.
Prentiss: Just go home, Derek.
Morgan: Why are you being like this? I thought, you know- we made up
Prentiss, sighing: We did. I'm just not ready for this to-
Morgan: To what? For what?
Prentiss: For this to be anything more than what it was.
Morgan: Why not? I don't know about you, but that kiss was incredible.
Prentiss, sighing again: Yeah, I guess it was
Morgan: Then why?
Prentiss: Because⦠[she trails off]
Morgan realized what this was about (or so he thought)
Morgan: You're not over JJ.
Emily nodded. That was part of it and it was the easy way to get Morgan to cool his heels. The real reason was much harder to explain.
She couldn't exactly tell him that yes, she wanted to be something with him. But unfortunately for her, she might have a psychopathic terrorist ex lover after her and that might be a little complicated to explain, no? She couldn't start anything with anyone.
So it was easiest to let Morgan think she was still pining for JJ. Again, not a complete lie, but not the full truth.
Morgan: I don't care.
Prentiss: Derek-
Morgan: Just be with me. For the night. Just be with me for one night and we'll figure out the rest later.
Emily wanted to say yes. Oh, how badly did she want to say yes.
Morgan: Do you trust me, Emily?
Prentiss, hesitating: Yes.
Morgan: Then please, Emily. Just,
Emily couldn't help herself. Not even waiting for him to finish speaking, she ran up and threw her pale, shaking arms around his neck and kissed him. Just for tonight, right?
In the distance, a conflicted man watched his mark betray him. Again. For Ian, it was the closest thing to heartbreak he ever felt.
