Chapter Eight: The Forgotten Sister

Nessie's POV

(A Memory)

The cave is kind of disgusting, in my opinion, but Jake just keeps nudging me towards it. I honestly wouldn't care if I was sleeping in the middle of the ocean, I just want to go home to my family. But they aren't there. They can't be there. We sit down on the ice cold floor of the cave and Jake curls up around me. I cry myself to sleep that night. When I wake up, someone is dragging me across the ground like a sack of potatoes: by the foot. I kick, but whoever has a hold of me has an incredibly strong grip.

"Let go!" I shout, struggling. "Jake! Jake!" I shout. I get jerked upright by somebody in a dark black cloak.

"Shut up, you stupid girl!" A voice hisses. It's female. "Your wolf buddy can't hear you now. You're hundreds of miles away from him.," she says.

"No," I say. "No, bring me back!" I shriek, kicking. "Help! Help!" I shout. Suddenly, I feel a needle go in my arm. I begin to feel very sleepy. ""Put...me...back.." I say as I fall asleep.

I wake up to a bright light shining in my face. I groan and roll over. I appear to be in a ditch. I have no idea how I go here, or who put me here. I car whooshes by, firing a cloud of dust into my eyes. "Uggh," I mutter, turning around. I notice a backpack sitting a few yards away. I suppose it must be mine. I reach over and open it, and pull out a fat stack of cash. There's no way a kid like me would have that much money, so it must not be mine, but I keep looking anyway. I find a picture of two very beautiful people who look vaguely familiar, but I can't place them. Maybe they're famous people or something and I just can't quite remember them from wherever I've seen them. I then pull out a locket. I open it, and it's empty save some words in what I think is French but am not entirely sure. Suddenly, a car stops. It's a van. A lady with blonde hair gets out and stares at me for a minute before talking to me. I stare back.

"Hi honey," she says. "Can I help you? What's your name?"

My name. My name. Suddenly, the strangest name in the world comes to mind, but I for sure know it's mine. "Renesmee?" I say, and it comes out like a question. She pauses.

"Well, Renesmee, I think I can help you, do you want to come with me?" she says. "I'm Brenda, I'm just taking my kids to the park, but I can take you somewhere where you can get some help, okay, honey?" she says. I don't like how she talks to me like I'm a really little baby.

"Ok, Brenda," I say, grabbing my backpack and climbing into her van with her four kids. Three days later, I was put into my first foster home.

(The Present)

My eyes fly open. I remember it all. Everything. My mom, my dad, my family, Jacob. The confrontation. Running away. Getting kidnapped, and then waking up on the side of the road. I ache for them all, because wherever this is, it isn't anywhere near them. I want to tell them I really remember them, and I miss them. I've missed them for so long without even realizing it. I try to move, but I appear to be tied down to a bed. "Where am I?" I shout, hoping someone will answer me. I hear footsteps coming up to a door, then the door opens, and the footsteps continue until I see a pale face hovering over mine. The eyes are red, however, and whoever it is has white-blonde hair and a sinister smile on her face.

"Well, Renesmee, it took me eleven years, but we are finally reunited, aren't we?" she says. I recognized her voice immediately. It's the voice from my memory. The person that kidnapped me and drug me away from my family. I frown. She also looks vaguely familiar, like I've seen her somewhere else besides this.

"What's your name?" I ask. She grimaces.

"I'm Molly," she says. That doesn't ring a bell at all.

"Who?" I ask. She whips around, anger flooding her bright red eyes.

"Molly! I'm Molly! But you wouldn't know that. Nobody knows that. I used to be with the Volturi, you know, before you were even born. I had a sister and a brother. Jane and Alec. But they thought I was weak. So they cast me out. I ran away from them, as far as I could possibly go. When I found out they failed at capturing the hybrid girl, I knew I could redeem myself by capturing you and making sure you would never remember your family. You would never remember our world. I threw you on the side of the road and told them of my victory. But it wasn't enough for them. I went back to where I had dropped you but you were gone. You were never in the same place twice, and it was infuriating. Finally, however, I have you. And this time, I don't plan on letting you go," she says. Suddenly, her head jerks up and she looks around. "No," she mutters.

I twist my head, looking around at the small window and trying to take in my surroundings, but there isn't much to look at. "What is it?" I ask, hoping it's my family.

"How did they find me? We're in Alaska, for goodness sakes!" she shouts, and I know it must be my family. She turns around and starts to undo the straps tying me down. The minute I'm off the bed, she grabs my arm with such a tight grip I hear a bone break. I cry out as my surroundings begin to melt away. I see someone's face, I think Jacob's, as everything goes.

"Help!" I shout, just as I'm pulled into a swirling mess.
