Elizabeth heard a creak of a floorboard and the sound of water pouring in a basin. She slowly opened her eyes to find herself in her old bedroom above Abigail's Cafe. Looking down at her hands, they were covered in tightly wrapped bandages and her feet seemed to be as well. She ached all over and had a slight headache. She looked to see Abigail who was dipping a small white cloth into some warm water, I am so glad to be home again she thought. After a moment her memories came rushing back, where was Jack? The children? How did they make it home?

"Well look who is awake!" Abigail said with a smile.

"Where are the children? What happened?"

"Now don't worry, they are all here or in the saloon. Their mothers are with them now. Do you remember anything that happened?"

"No. I remember that it was starting to get dark. I remember hearing Frank's voice calling out. But then everything just went black."

"You mean you don't remember that tree branch hitting you and knocking both you and Anne down?"

"No not at all. All I remember was hearing someone calling my name."

"Not sure if I would call this good news but you only suffered a few bruises, a broken rib, and a couple of deep cuts on your hands. Your ankle is also a little bit swollen as well. Frank and Lee had just found all of you when the wind knocked the tree branch over. Luckily, you pretty much pushed Anne out of the way. It was you that we were most worried about."

As Elizabeth tried to remember, nothing seemed to be coming back. Abigail held Elizabeth's hand and said, "Now don't feel bad about this. If you and Jack hadn't done what you did, you might all be dead right saved those children. That's what counts."

"Well, where is Jack?"

"I am right here."

Jack was standing in the doorway of Elizabeth's room. He had looked much better, but he had to walk with crutches. Elizabeth looked at him worryingly, "What happened to you?"

"Oh it's nothing, just a little weak from being cold. Faith says I should be back to my old self in no time. It's you I am more worried about."

"I'm fine Jack."

"I know but you gave all of us a scare." Jack said sitting down beside her bed.

"I think he means, you gave him a scare." Abigail responded.

Elizabeth giggled. "I am just so glad we are all here."

"Well not all of us."

"What do you mean Jack?'

"Brownie is still out there." Jack said with a smirk.

"Oh Jack." Elizabeth said with a smile.

A few weeks passed, as Elizabeth recovered the children came and visited her including Anne whose injuries were not a severed as Elizabeth's. It took time but as soon as Jack felt better he was able to take Elizabeth out for small walks. He came and visited her as often as he could, as he knew she had done the same for him when he was ill. When the snow had begun to melt, the children, with the help of the mothers, put together a small party for Jack and Elizabeth. They worked extra hard to decorate the saloon with as much color as possible. Rosemary and Lee, even paid for a musician for the night, while Abigail baked a roast and her famous biscuits and cookies.
