Chapter 16

I Spy

Upon dialing off world, Sam led her temporary team to the rendezvous point to meet Thor. They were then beamed up the Thor's new ship, The O'Neill. By contacting the Asgard, Sam accomplished two goals: First goal was to ensure the nanites used by the Olympians could not be co-opted by the Replicators and to fulfill part of the trade agreement so Abby could finally meet the Asgard.

Sam watched on As the Queen of the Olympians turned into a fanatic of the Asgard. Abby's brown eyes lit up. She couldn't contain her excitement.

"Supreme Leader Thor," she addressed the Asgard commander. "It's is an honor and privilege to meet you. On behalf of the Olympia we send our best regards and intentions."

Thor stood at the controls on his ship. He cocked his head slightly and blinked his large black eyes. "You are Abigail, Daughter of King Apollo and Queen Athena or Olympia. I am honored to be in your presence."

Abby gasped, "You knew my parents?"

"They had established a secure channel of communications with me many years ago. I heard they were betrayed and murdered by Baal. Upon their deaths I never heard anything else from Olympia and I can only assume that you were never notified of the secured communication channel." he explained. "I attempted to make contact many times through the channel to no avail."

Abby and Monique traded glances. Monique stated, "I was never made aware of any communications with the Asgard. Perhaps, my father knew…" she gulped.

Abby went pale, "Your father died shortly after my parents." The thought of a traitor in the Olympia ran through her mind. She trusted her people and never imagined that the most trusted General to the Royal family might have been murdered instead of perishing in an accident.

Sam and Jonas stood in shock to the news. Thor had attempted to make contact with Abby after her parents were murdered by Baal and could not get through. It sounded much like sabotage to Sam. Abby had been wanting to establish relations with the Asgard for decades to no avail. It took Sam and Jonas to escort Abby and Monique directly to Thor for them to finally establish contact. Then Sam's mind went to Jack, Teal'c and Daniel who were on Olympus with a possible traitor within their midst. Naturally, she began to worry.

Abby replied, "I don't why I never got your transmission, Supreme Leader Thor. I never would have disregarded them. I've been trying to make contact with you and your people for a very long time."

Thor replied, "I am glad we have made contact now, Your Highness. How may the Asgard assist you and your people?"

Abby motioned towards Sam, "Sam is worried that the Olympian nanites could be co-opted by Replicators and frankly, so am I."

"I see." he agreed. "I am detecting a Olympian nanite cloud on the bridge. I can run more diagnostics if you wish, Your Highness."

"That would be great." Abby replied. "Can you do me a favor though. I prefer to be addressed by name. Please call me 'Abby'."

He agreed, "And you shall address me by name as well, 'Thor'."

She gave a soft smile, "I would like that."

Thor reported, "The Olympian nanites have a firewall protecting them. The firewall is indicative of an Artificial Intelligence."

"That would be Ollie." Abby figured. "The central computer of Olympia."

"The firewall will make it more difficult to extract data." he replied. "It does appear to have a primary function of protecting the nanites from outside control. Based on the difficulty that I am experiencing I can conclude the Replicators would have a trying time attempting to gain control over the Olympian nanites."

Jonas stated, "That's good news."

"Indeed," Thor agreed. "I am curious how the nanites failed to protect the King and Queen of Olympia fifty years ago."

Abby explained, "The nanites were only used for health applications and to assist with accessing the technology of our ancestors. The nanties were not programmed to protect the royal family. That changed after I became Queen."

"I see." he replied. "May I asked a question?"

"Of course," she nodded.

Thor pondered, "Who have you left to tend to Olympia in your absence?"

Abby smiled brightly, "A mutual friend of ours. Colonel Jack O'Neill!"

Thor blinked as he imagined Jack in charge of Olympia. He asked, "Shall I set a course for Olympus?"

Abby figured, "We are fine."

"I was asking Major Carter." he replied.

Sam gave a nod, "I think we should."

Olympia

Jack found himself standing in the throne room with Daniel and Teal'c as the trio looked for information on what task needed to be done in Abby's absence. Daniel pondered as he glanced about, "Abby must have left some kind of record of what she does here. A list, a daily routine…something."

Jack didn't see any sort of list or even a computer. The room was richly decorated with red and gold tapestries and hardwood floors. In the middle of the room sat the throne itself. It looked much like a gold chair to Jack. He always wanted to say he sat on a chair made of gold just for bragging rights. He made his way to the chair and glanced at Daniel who was peeking behind every tapestry for a computer or some kind of hidden technology. He then found Teal'c curiously looking at Jack as the man sized up the throne. The Jaffa cocked an eyebrow as Jack stepped up to the throne and then sat down.

Jack looked to his friend and suggested, "I really need a picture." He told Teal'c as he beamed. Suddenly the throne activated and from under the throne a platform raised.

Daniel looked over to see Jack sitting on the throne as the chair rose exposing a platform with a computer screen, "Oh, good you found the Queen's computer."

Jack hopped off the chair fearing he might have done some damage. The throne continued to rise as the platform beneath exposed a column steps that led down. "Um…"

"The Queen's secret chambers." Daniel smiled pleased. He knew there had to be hidden rooms and technology in the throne room. He spoke, "We have to go down."

Jack cocked his head, "What for?"

"Abby runs Olympia from the throne room and the Queen's secret chamber. She knew you would find it the moment you sat on the throne, Jack." he figured.

"Ya think?" he wondered.

He insisted, "She's not dumb, Jack. She's actually very intelligent. She knew you would find it. She knows you have the Ancient gene and can activate their technology." He then admitted, "The only thing that I can't figure out is why she left you in charge when she could have chosen anyone of her generals or admirals. That makes no sense to me but I figure, she must have a good reason…" he then listened to himself and winced, "I hope…"

Jack rolled his eyes annoyed, "She likes me." He looked at the stairs, "Let's see what's down there." He soon took the lead pulling his sidearm.

The metal stairs led down in a spiral. Jack soon came to the end and stepped off onto the floor. The room instantly lit up. The far wall was covered with flat screen monitors. Every aspect of the mining operation and city above and below ground was monitored. The Gate itself was also being monitored.

Daniel figured, "This must be the command center. She and Monique can see everything from here."

In the middle of the room was a chair made of brown leather. Jack mentioned, "Another one of those chairs."

"An inter phase." Daniel agreed. He saw no other way of interacting with the computer. He figured, "I think you need to sit in it, Jack."

Jack was still reeling from his last encounter and migraine he endured. Unlike the Olympians, he didn't have the nanites to assist with the workload. He took a deep breath and mustered his gumption. He walked to the chair and sat down. Surprisingly, the chair activated but he didn't feel overwhelmed by it this time.

A female voice came from above. "Welcome your highness."

Jack squinted and looked about. He didn't see the source of the voice. He asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm Olympia." the voice replied. "Abby likes to call me 'Ollie'."

Daniel stated, "It's the city's A.I., Jack."

Jack spoke, "A.I.?" He grew a bit worried for his experience with artificial intelligence in the past was not a positive one.

Ollie stated, "I have acquired your alphabet and language. I assume A.I. stands for artificial intelligence. I assure you that I am so much more than that."

The computer spoke not only in a female voice but also seemed to be a bit sassy to Jack. He cocked an eyebrow, "You are?" He then looked about to his friends and pointed towards his head, "Am I losing it? I'm not getting the headache."

Teal'c suggested, "Perhaps, Olympia is assisting."

Daniel agreed, "Could be the computer is helping you, Jack."

"Indeed," Ollie beamed. "Upon analyzing the response and inter phase from the last interaction his highness experienced, I deemed it was necessary to assist his neurological pathways. I have buffered you using the nanites for your time as Acting King, Your Highness."

Jack squinted, "You mean you gave those nanite things."

"Indeed," Ollie replied pleased with herself.

He asked, "What if I don't want it?"

Ollie replied in a seductive and yet condescending tone, "Oh, honey…your brain would be turned to mush." It was apparent that Ollie was also studying Earth slang as well.

Jack traded glanced with Daniel and Teal'c. Daniel had an nearly amused smirk on his face while Teal'c retained a hardened expression that could be employed at a poker game.

"Honey?" Jack squawked.

The computer replied, "You are rather attractive for a human from Earth."

"What?" Jack couldn't believe his ears. It sounded much like the computer was flirting with him.

Ollie stated, "Considering your origin you do have some positive attributes."

Daniel spoke up to try and get the computer to focus. "Ollie! Can you tell us what we are supposed to do to run the city for Abby while she is away on a mission?"

"But of course," Ollie replied. "I am far more than just a computer. I keep the city and mine functioning at maximum capacity."

As the computer bragged about itself Jack had a flash back to an old 80's television series with a talking black Trans Am. Ollie sounded just as snotty as the fictional car in the series.

Jack huffed, "Hey KITT! What am I supposed to do? I'm supposed to do what Abby does."

Ollie grew defensive, "You don't have to raise your voice at me. My name is Olympia or Ollie. I am not KITT. Why did you call me KITT?"

Jack squinted, "I know what show I'm bring for the next movie night." He then gathered his nerves which Ollie seemed to enjoy stepping upon. "So, what am I supposed to do if you basically run everything?"

"Abby will spend time going over civil cases for the people." she informed. "She will also go over trade agreements. Then, she and Monique will train for defense and athletics."

Jack asked, "So what am I supposed to do?"

Ollie asked, "Do you not wish to tend to civil duties?"

He shook his head hard, "No!" It sounded much like jury duty to Jack.

"Do you not wish to oversee the trade agreement with Earth?" she asked.

Daniel spoke up, "Since we are from Earth that could be seen as a conflict of interest."

Ollie agreed, "It could. Shall I suggest another task that normally does not fall under Queen Abigail's duties."

Jack asked, "What is that?" He feared what the computer would say next. Cooking, cleaning, house repair were all possibilities that ran through his mind.

"The nanites detected unusual activity in the neurotically system of General Achilles. I am having difficulty analyzing." Ollie stated.

Daniel asked, "Wouldn't that be a medical issue?"

"Indeed," the computer agreed. General Achilles has declined all medical exams." The computer paused, "I am concerned for the General has employed encryption in private messaging and has made unusual moves."

"Such as?" Jack wondered.

The flat screen came to life on the wall. A figure moved through the dark towards the Star Gate. Ollie spoke, "I have many recordings of General Achilles dialing off world over the years and sending a capsule that contains the downloads of the cryptic messages. I do not know who receives the messages nor the purpose."

The men watched video play as the figure tossed a silver capsule through the event horizon and then walked away.

Daniel asked, "Didn't you ever show this footage to Monique or Abby, Ollie?"

"I have not." the computer confessed. "Surveillance footage can only be seen with an order from the council. It is our law. I do not have enough evidence to get such an order from the council and if General Achilles has done nothing wrong than I have no right to impose on his privacy."

Jack asked, "If you don't have enough evidence to show this to the council then why show it to us?"

"Legally I can show it to you without a order from the council. You are from Earth, not Olympia. That law only applies to Olympians." she explained.

"Like Five Eyes." Jack muttered.

"What?" Daniel asked.

He explained, "We can't spy on your own people Daniel so we go around that have our friends do it."

"Are you serious, Jack?" he gasped.

"It happens." he shrugged. "Ollie, I want all the footage you have on Achilles." He looked to Daniel, "Let's get Frasier here."

Daniel slowly nodded as his mind churned the possibilities. Could there be a spy in the midst of Olympia? His mind went to the Goa'uld and how they could take a host and use the host against the population. He wondered what fate lay in store for them.
